Former Army Ranger Kash Walker isn’t afraid to take a risk. Risk taking is his specialty. But now that he’s survived yet another dangerous mission in Afghanistan, he’s exhausted and looks forward to rest and relaxation. The fewer problems, the better as far as he’s concerned.

disjointed and needs editing
This is potentially a good story however the lack of proofreading and editing detracts from the story. There is no flow from chapter to chapter. Dialog is awkward. I tried but gave up about half way through.

hmm.... what can i say about the book? well, all i can say is it seriously need some editing or a real good editor.
firstly, the heroine's name: she was introduced as "emily jones" but somewhere in the middle of the book, she became "emily walker". and "walker" is actually the hero's last name. honestly, the author is totally confused at some point in her own writing -_-'''
secondly, the dialogue punctuation: a lot of the dialogue has closing double inverted commas but no opening inverted commas. so when you read the sentence, it feels like it's part of the speech but actually it's just the characters inner monologue.
finally, the pov switcheroo: the pov switch is so bloody confusing, omg... the hero or heroine's name is indicated at the start of the chapter so you will assume it will fully be either one of their pov. however~ in a lot of the chapters, the pov will switch in the midst of nowhere without any indication. so while i was reading the book, i kept getting confused as i remembered the current chapter was the heroine's pov but all of a sudden it wasn't anymore and vice versa.
i think the book needs to be fully edited and then maybe it would have been a much more interesting book to read.

Even though I enjoyed the storyline I have found it hard to get used to the way this author writes. As I liked the characters and the story I will continue to read her work.
Kash doesn't want a relationship and doesn't like kids but when his new neighbour and her kids move in next door mayhem and madness ensue.
The characters are alpha males with a heart of gold who risk their lives rescuing others and hunting down the bad guys. Men who fall in love quickly and will do anything to protect what is his and is brothers in arms. They are family.
This compelling story pulls you into a web of action, mystery, and danger, revealing more complex situations as tension builds, and the stakes grow higher.

Very poor editing
Extremely shoddy editing. Keeps on jumping from first POV to third POV. Dont even get me started on mixing the dual POV within a chapter.
Story had no sense of time. Too many holes. seemed like a poor first draft

Good storyline but just too many inconsistencies in the book for me to rate higher.

Lash and Emily were likable enough and the storyline could have worked, but the writing needs some work. It felt as though it was written by a middle schooler. There is little variation in sentence structure and it often rambled. I gave it two stars only because the idea was decent, it was just dragged down by poor writing.

I really wanted to like this but as most reviewers have pointed out, this badly needs some editing and it's extremely distracting when it's just all over the place. I liked the premise and really hoped this could be a series I could get stuck in to but there's is so much going on and so much left unfinished, it just frustrates me. As a reader, I love supporting indie authors and it saddens me that I can't with Susie McIver. It feels like she's rushed to get all her thoughts out and it's just become a jumble of a storyline that feels rushed, unfinished and poorly written. I struggled to finish Kash but my hope in these characters kept me going, sadly I was let down and so I'm not sure I'll read any more of this series 😔

Worst book ever. I don't know how this book has a 4 star rating. The story was fine. The writing was straight trash. There was no flow. Everyone seemed to just ramble. I don't know who talks like these people in the book.
The ending sucked. You can't just end a story like that. What happened to the insurance policy? I don't even know how to express the waste of time this book is

Too much crammed in one story

Kash is an Army Ranger Special Ops man. He and his team are well-oiled and highly trained. When they leave on a mission, it can be for what they believe is a week but, can end up being much longer. When Kash arrives home from such a trip he is surviving on only twelve hours over the last three days. Once he allows his dog, Max, a trained killer, to use the restroom, he plans on sleeping for days. Max does go on some missions when needed, which he did this one, saving them from being killed.
However, no sooner does his head hit the pillow than he hears Max and children. That can not be. There are no children around here, and he knows his mom knows, the rules. She doesn't rent the house next door, to families. When he goes outside he sees the gate has been open and his killer dog is doing summersaults entertaining a baby girl in a walk. Not to mention, showing his high jump to the four boys who are playing B-ball.
Making them all laugh hysterically. He yells out excuse me to their mother who has the sexiest curves, the finest a$$, and the fullest breast he’s seen in a long while, yet she is intentionally ignoring him. When he puts more bite into it, the oldest boy, Jason says he will let her know he wants to talk. When she turns around, he's floored. She is gorgeous, but he is a man on a mission to get some sleep. When he explains, through sign language, he just got in, and hasn’t gotten any sleep and if she could get the kids to keep it down. Emily rolls hers eyes like that is there problem why?
He explains he just got back in-country he’s an Army Ranger special ops. And he and his highly skilled killer dog, when the three turns and look is rolling around still making the baby laughs. It's when Emily speaks that throws Kash off-kilter. She sees his surprise and explains, that she started losing her hearing at ten so, the talking was established by then, but she kept it up. Keeping her vocal cords excised, I supposed. She asked was he going to sleep now or later so she knew when to keep the children quiet. He knew by her expressive eyes she teasing him.
He was going to take his dog, and leave. But, Max decided his vote counted and would not go. He wanted to stay with baby Kelsey. When he called his mom to give them a thirty-day notice that’s when he heard about their plight. About the great sacrifice, Emily has made to care for her five siblings. This young grumpy guy was losing ground. When he hears all voices going closer to the beach line he takes his lounger to lay out. But when he sees baby Kelsey running away from a wave on her shaky little legs, he automatically starts to get up when Jason beats him to it. Before you know it sleep takes him under. When he wakes, he has a cartoon character blanket covering him.
This ranger finds himself sinking fast, for this family of six. Believe me, he tries to fight it with all he has. But, when danger comes knocking, on Emily’s doorstep, Kash is the first one to jump in, and goes, into protection mode. Then he enlists his many friends and contacts to do the protecting. But, Emily is a powerhouse, in her own right. She is a strong powerful woman, who knows how to survive, protect, nurture, and love hard. People revere her. Her heart is larger than her body.

I had to DNF at 40% and I'm surprised I made it that far. The book desperately needs major editing. First thing I noticed was that it reads almost like word vomit, with just lots of random thought and info being thrown at you. Next it started switching from first point of view to third point of view, or some combination of the two, randomly and sometimes literally in the same sentence; "I could tell he was surprised that I spoke normally. A lot of people thought because Emily couldn’t hear that great that she couldn’t speak either. But Emily didn’t start losing her hearing until she was ten years old." This was said from Emily's POV where was she was just rerfrering to herself as "I" literally in the same sentence. The character POV was also randomly changing through it the chapter. There was also some confusion with punctuation such as a sentence ending with "?" When that didn't really make sense. Other times the sentences themselves didn't make sense, such as "I made Max run and put the gate on so he couldn’t get out. It runs between our houses, so you have privacy, and I have privacy." Max is a dog so he had the dog put the gate on? Plus what does it even mean to put a gate "on". Writing also felt immature with the female leads nipples getting hard and her drooling literally just from seeing the man for the first time. The male lead also kept thinking about how horny he was just from looking at her and at one point described her boobs as "beautiful round orbs". I mean seriously? Also all these examples are from the first 7 pages. Conversations were all over the place, the plot was all over the place with new people and new plot lines being thrown in at random. I was confused and even the author seemed confused and unable to kep track of things (for example the characters dads went from being in the army together to golfing buddies). Action scenes were also written really confusingly so half the time I didn't understand what was happening. All the 5 and 4 star reviews didn't prepare for just how awfully written this story would be, I've read better written works on wattpad and fanfiction.net

Where to begin. I think this book had so much potential. The story was good. I knew it would move fast because it was such a short book. However the POV’s would change at the weirdest time. Half the time you had to back up and try to figure out if it was hers or his POV. Did anyone proofread this before they published it? Clearly they didn’t. I honestly only finished the book because it was such a short read. It’s almost like they were putting things in the book just as a filler. Like the school principal. The best friend popping up out of nowhere’s. The over the top giving the hearing aids to her then her giving them away. Then Kash and Angel saying they’re going to buy hearing aids. Then her going to the doctor and making payments for hearing aids. I don’t know it was all just a lot of nonsense in the book when it didn’t need to be there. Also how did the time line move so fast. Kash meets her then it’s 3 months later, then it’s a year later. There was just a lot of stuff in this book that didn’t make sense-the story could have been a good one but the writing was not good.

Good beginning
I really enjoyed this story. Kash and Emily's relationship was really cute and I loved the inclusion of the siblings. I only had two things that kept me from rating it a 5. There are a few typos that made me raise my brows. Whoever checks the books should be able to tell the difference between smelled and smelt for example. There were a couple of those and othe words that were not the correct nouns or verbs to use based on what was being explained. Also, I love secondary characters as much as anybody else but some seemed to be just thrown in there haphazardly and I had to go back to see if they had been introduced before. With that said I really enjoyed the plot and it kept me up late because I had to see what was going to happen. I am looking forward to Angel's book now.

decent story, poor editing
Let’s start with the editing. This book needs it. In every chapter. In lots of places.
The beginning of the book starts with Kash’s POV but the author threw in 6 paragraphs of Emily’s POV and it completely threw me off. I had to read that section 3 times. This happened a lot throughout the book where POV would change without notice in the middle of a chapter.
The sex scenes in the book were a little disjointed and I had to skip past them as they were hard to read.
The timeline in the book is out of whack. At one point it’s mentioned that it’s been a year. How does it jump a year?
So many lines that were meant to be in quotations but weren’t and vice versa. So many punctuation errors. I hope the author takes a moment to re-edit this book.

Posso dire? Mi aspettavo di meglio, la trama è strutturata bene (mi piace davvero quello che succede) ma in italiano sembra sia stato tradotto con Google traduttore non da un vero traduttore.
Tutto sommato è stato un libro interessante, rientra nella mia cerchia di Military Romance 😂😂
Adoro Kash, il suo ammorbidirsi sempre di più con i bambini è fantastico, Emily? Non lo so mi è sembrata un po’ ingenua all’inizio, non so perché sinceramente ma nei capitoli finali si è un po’ “sollevata” quindi va bene (molto probabilmente non sono riuscita a capirla molto per via della traduzione)
Il finale? Mi aspettavo di meglio cioè io l’avrei fatto finire in un’altra maniera ma va bene (accetto questo finale solo se la loro storia verrà scritta e continuata anche nei libri che verranno a seguire)

Cute but stilted storytelling
Romantic tropes, but the writing was too underdeveloped. It was written mostly in dialogue and the narration didn’t do enough to carry the story so that the plot was kind confusing as it developed. More background information or description would have been helpful. It’s a pet peeve of mine when a character is written in dialogue. I mean some of it was like “I think I’m falling for her. Now we are running late. We should go” (not an actual quote, but it mimics the writing style pretty darn well). There’s just no personality behind the words.

I really enjoyed the premise of the story, but the stilted writing style and child-like dialogue really impacted the delivery. People don't really talk like that to each other in real life, especially not adults. And while I applaud the author for bringing attention to the deplorable way the U.S. left Afghanistan, leaving many U.S. citizens and allies behind, the way it's included in the story doesn't work for me. But once again, that might just be the childish writing style. So much potential fell flat by the poor delivery.

excellent start to the series
This is the first book I have read by Susie McIver but it won’t be the last. Kash and Emily meet when she and her 5 siblings move into his house next door, rented to them by his mother. She is a chef and had to suddenly take responsibility for her siblings when their parents were killed. Kash, an army Ranger , likes peace and quiet but he and his military dog Max get drawn into Emily and the children’s lives like it or not. Kash’s teammates also get involved. I’m looking forward to reading more in this series

A heavy read…4 1/2 Stars
This book is extremely interesting and was very hard to put down. It is loaded with real life challenges and nasty issues that some readers may find hard to get through. Having said that, the author wove the storyline through these issues and was pretty straightforward in the telling. I thoroughly enjoyed the very believable characters, adored getting to know canine Max, and was extremely relieved at the ending of it all. The only downer I had was that the bonus offer would not load, but that certainly did not detract from the story.

Lots of action
I can’t believe this book is only. 189 pages. The book is jam packed with action, emotions, drama.
But the author was able to put it all together so that it had a natural pace and didn’t seem rushed. The H/h definitely had chemistry.
The details of all the characters was enough to feel like you knew them.
Will be reading the next one in this series as soon as possible.

All Kash wanted to do at the end of his last mission was to come home, relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. However, his new next door neighbor and her siblings make that almost impossible. But when Emily's past is revealed and leaves her with needing his protection will the Army Ranger be able to protect his heart while he protects Emily and her siblings? With a great bunch of characters I hope get their own stories told this was a great beginning to the series.

I loved the blurb and was looking forward to reading it. However it eeds a good proof/beta reader. It jumps from past to present tense, from 1st to 3rd person and jumbles up the timeline all in 1 sentence. For example 'we broke up last night, she wouldn't accept it i,ts been a week since I saw her'. Some sentences were repeated and it talks as if the mother of the female lead is alive but she died at the beginning of the book.

This book was hard to read.
The story/plot was fine but the writing/editing was not good. Children are noisy and messy. A little disappointing as the story gets going there are several grammatical mistakes that caused the sentences to be reread over so they sounded correct and made sense. All in all, there is a great story hiding under a few mistakes. There is tragedy. There is strength. There is fierce loyalty and respect. There are hero’s and saviors. There are barbecues and carrot cake. Best of all there is a guard dog that will kiss a baby to hear her giggle.

A strong 3.5⭐'s.
I enjoy a good story that includes cute kids and fun animals along with the main characters. Emily is a smart, sweet and very talented chef, who gives up her lucrative career to take on the responsibility of raising her much younger siblings. Between Emily and those adorable kids poor Kash with his strict demeanor/alpha personality and marshmallow center never knew what hit him!
This was my first time reading this author’s work and I’ve had this book on my TBR list for a long while now. It is worth noting, as highlighted in some other reviews, that the book contains noticeable grammatical and punctuation errors, which may be distracting. However, if you can overlook these issues, it's truly an enjoyable read!

Excellent story
I love the storyline, and adore and admire the characters.
However, a good proofreader needs to go through it and correct the few grammatical errors and the many punctuation mistakes.
Finally, the sentence structure is very choppy, with many paragraphs made up of short statements. Narration, dialog, and background all suffer from these problems.
Even so, I enjoyed reading it.

Story is good but not very well developed. So much potential for a great read but it was just good. Needs better proofjng. Words out of place, wrong words, and more. That is so distracting. Characters just seem to pop in and out. Since this was book 1, I'm hoping chracters become more fleshed out as we see them reappear in following books.

I really enjoed reading this book, its witty. it has romance and fast pacing, you dont get bored.
Kash is a Army Rangers Special Ops who with his team go on secret missions. Emily and her

Difficult to follow.
This book, the first installment of the Army Rangers Special OPS, was very difficult to follow with so many typographical errors and run-on content. Sometimes, it is difficult to read when it switches from one character to another without warning.
With the number of reviews, I was expecting much better.

Kash is an Army Ranger Special Ops man. He and his team are well-oiled and highly trained. When they leave on a mission, it can be for what they believe is a week but, can end up being much longer. When Kash arrives home from such a trip he is surviving on only twelve hours over the last three days. Once he allows his dog, Max, a trained killer, to use the restroom, he plans on sleeping for days.
