A Novella of New Friendships, Betrayal. Hope, Understanding, Unexpected Blessings, Freedom So much has happened in so little time.
This novella begins with Johain’s Mate finally deciding that she has had enough and found the courage to LEAVE.
Paquinn was on a mission to take what was promised to him. Little did he know Johain played him for a fool. Paquinn had every intention of taking Jesenca and returning to his Pack; that was until her mate Kalen arrived and put Paquinn in his place. Confused and Angry Paquinn didn’t understand why he was sent to claim a mate; not just any mate but a Mate who was also Alpha such as himself and who was already mated. During the time that Paquinn was trying to claim his “mate” Jesenca’s friend Emily was ready to go toe to toe with Paquinn over her friend. This sparked something deep within Paquinn that he didn’t quite understand because he was an Alpha Wolf and she was a mere human.
Jesenca being the awesome woman and Alpha that she is welcomed Paquinn into her and Kalen’s home to help him make sense of what has happened. Although Kalen was still itching to rip Paquinn’s throat out; Jesenca was more understanding and answered any and all questions that he had. Realizing that he had been played by Johain; Paquinn decided that it was best that he left and head home to his Pack.
Paquinn couldn’t get the human woman out of his thoughts and decided to stay a few days longer. He took this opportunity to apologize for the drama he caused at Jesenca’s job and with her Mate. He also took it upon his self to apologize to Emily for the way he has spoken to her the day before. While speaking with Emily; Paquinn realized that fate had sent him a human mate and now it was up to him to figure out how to get her to understand that she belonged to him.
Emily didn’t understand why Paquinn was so intense to the point that they almost kissed when he was apologizing to her. She discussed this with Jesenca and Jesenca realized that Paquinn was Emily mate but felt that it was his story to tell not hers. Emily was attracted to Paquinn but she has had terrible luck in the past with abusive relationships therefore; she didn’t want to get involved with him. The pull between the two became so strong that Paquinn couldn’t help but follow Emily just so he could be in her midst.
When the time came for him to reveal his truth Emily felt betrayed. She goes to confront Jesenca about keeping secrets only to find that Paquinn tracked her there and refused to let her go. Jesenca had to use her Alpha power against Paquinn to make him let Emily go because she didn’t want any parts of a relationship with him.
This is where I feel the story was a little rushed. One minute Emily wants nothing to do with Paquinn and the next minute he follows her to her house and pleads his case and then they consummate the Mate connection. Granted they were mates; I don’t know any human woman who would witness a man showing his wolf and she easily forgives after an hour or so and totally commits to him.
The story ends with Johain’s Mate Brenna finding his spy camped outside of a woman’s home. Brenna informs the spy of Johain’s plans and that they are big and will begin with the woman he keeps watch over every night.
Who is this spy and does he have a Mate?
How many spies are working for Johain?
I am looking forward to the next installment a for secrets to be revealed.

This 4th book in the Mated Wolves series was great. Paquinn was promised a mate, a mate that was already mated and had been for months. A cruel alpha just trying to start trouble sends him off to get his promised mate and boy does it all hit the fan! We have great banter, mates showing their dominance, and just a lot of fun seeing 2 people come together as one. It shows that no matter what, love goes beyond all boundaries.
I received an advance review copy of this book, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I cannot get enough of this series. Paquinn came to collect his promised mate to find her already mated. To his surprise, he also mated Emily who is human. Can a human be his bonded mate? This is getting better with each book and I cannot wait to read the next one.
I enjoyed the series but I personally would have preferred if each book was longer. It felt as if I had just started one and I already finished it and had to buy the next book to get the next part of the story.
This would have been better for me if it had only been split into three books at the most. Otherwise, the story was well written other than too interrupted.
