Full disclaimer: I’m a previous client of coach Drees. That said, I’d like to believe that doesn’t have any bearing on my review.

Drees has a unique coaching style, which finds its roots in cognitive behavioral therapy, the emotional freedom technique (tapping), and even a bit of quantum physics.

Reading this book brought me right back to our old coaching sessions. It’s a great encapsulation of Drees’ teachings and methodologies. What I like most about those teachings — as well as this book — is that they’re relatively unique for the self-help space.

Drees assists clients and readers in overcoming roadblocks by changing their frames, mindsets, and beliefs. He regularly returns to the notion of “misalignment” — the idea that if we’re not properly attuned to our desires, it will be hard for us to attain them because we won’t be the required versions of ourselves.

Throughout the book, as well as his coaching sessions, he stresses the importance of finding such alignment and discovering empowering perspectives to surmount difficulties in new, more seamless fashions. And those subjects are essential indeed, as you’ll likely learn when you read this one.

Disclaimer: I won this book as part of a Goodreads giveaway, and this is my honest review.

I'm new to the self-help nonfiction genre, and I'm still getting a feel for the types of topics within the genre that resonate with me, and sadly this book didn't capture my attention as well as I hoped it would. Don't let my review stop you from reading this book!!! I'm certain this book will truly speak to the soul of some individuals. Sadly, that was not me.

I think listening to the audiobook would have been a better experience for me personally, because the physical copy of this book held a tiny font that switches to another sized font for the affirmations and key points - which is creative and fun but I'm not a fan of the smaller font for the bulk part of each chapter. I think the tiny font was chosen to make the physical copy slim and easier to travel around with for "on the go" adventures, but for those who don't have the best eyesight and/or are trying to read this after a long day might find themselves having a hard time reading the physical copy of this book... The graphics are pretty and eye-catching, same with the book cover.

All in all, this book wasn't for me personally, but I'm happy for all the people who resonated with this book!!!
