THE WEDDING RIVALS by Nicole Flockton
Nina Wright and Jake Jenkins were HS rivals. Both had crushes on the other, but neither confessed their feelings. Thus making Nina feel that Jake was always out to mock her. Years later they meet again at the wedding of mutual friends. Things seem to still be a competition between them. Will they finally realize that the feelings are still there, only just deeply buried? Can they find their HEA second time around?
All are fun to read and a great way to visit with some of your favorite authors, and try out new ones. As what happens with most novellas and short stories, the characters and the plot are not fully developed. That said, they were all perfect for a “quick pick me upper” or an afternoon of leisure reading. I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
The Wedding Rivals by Nicole Flockton High school rivals come together as best man and maid of honor when their best friends get married. Can 2 people who have always been enemies stay civil enough to give their best friends a destination wedding of their dreams? Can they go one better and admit to their crush that always seemed to be taken the wrong way
Something Blue is a co-author anthology of weddings and second chances at finding a HEA. I’m only reviewing the stories I’ve read and will update at I read the rest.
(3⭐️’s) Four Royal Weddings and an (almost) Funeral by Teri Wilson Cute story. The H made me mad in the beginning but made up for it in the end. Plus, I loved the intro to each chapter especially the epilogue.
(3⭐️’s) Petals and Playlists by Lacey Baker The h is a DJ who’s afraid of getting hurt and the H is wanting what his grandparents have. He thought he had that with the h but he was wrong when she ended up ghosting him. I liked this story but IMO it really needed an epilogue. With everything this couple went through, I wanted to see more of them together.
(4⭐️’s) His Custom-Made Bridesmaid by Carl Carson I really enjoyed this one. Loved the h. She didn’t just fall at the H feet but made him work at winning her back. The ending felt a little rushed but other then that this was a good read.
(2.5⭐️’s) Something Borrowed by Cassidy Carter This was an okay read. I will admit some parts were a bit confusing for me especially with the whole ring thing in the end but overall it wasn’t bad.
(3⭐️’s) Always You by Melinda Curtis I liked this one. The H and h were perfect for each other but its sad how it took them 4yrs to realize it.
(3.5⭐️’s) Love By Accident by Marianne Evans Another really cute second chance love story. Loved the H and h. The only thing that kinda bothered me but not really was how I kept thinking the H still had feelings for his ex. Other then that this was an enjoyable read.
(4⭐️’s) The Wedding Rivals by Nicole Flockton Loved this. The H and h butted heads but over all they secretly loved each other. Definitely an HEA ending.
(3⭐️’s) Second Chance Sweetheart by Shirley Jump Good story. There were some parts that I liked and some that I didn’t. But otherwise this was an okay read for me.
Overall i’m really enjoying this anthology. I will say there were 2 stories that had formatting issues that effected the flow of the story and how I rated them. Im reading an ARC so it may jut be my copy but other then that this is a pretty good read.
