A blazing shoot-out waited for them South of Sonora…
In this classic western double, Hugh Kinzie and Holt Deaver have one thing in common: they’ve both found themselves in tough circumstances that may turn fatal.
A regiment was needed but they sent only one man, Hugh Kinzie – he saddled his dun and rode west. He found the party of men and women ambushed by Red Sleeves, the maniacal chief who hated the white man more than he feared death itself. Hugh counted on one thing to get them out—his old, battered, still-deadly rifle.
Holt Deaver, a young man who has drifted onto the wrong side of the law on occasion is running from trouble. After the men he was riding with robbed and murdered an army paymaster they agreed they would need to kill Holt to keep him quiet.
“If you’re a fan of tough-minded Westerns, I highly recommend it and just about anything else by Gordon D. Shirreffs.” –James Reasoner, author of Rattler’s Law

Two rip-roaring westerns that feature Hugh Kinzie and Holt Deaver in dire circumstances.
Gordon D Shirreffs has many a book under his belt, and here is a double western that give us two men that find themselves right in the mix of things. When Hugh Kinzie's brother is missing and accused of stealing government money, Hugh does not hesitate to go after the truth and clear his brother. He finds that his brother had been killed by Indians and a contingent of soldiers with two women sitting right in the path of a War party.
Then we find Holt Deaver, that has stepped over the line, but when faced with killing a patrol of buffalo soldiers carrying a payroll wagon, he can’t do it and walks away. A few days later, he arrives at his friend's home, only to find him and one of his daughters dead, and the other one out of her mind because she had been raped and beaten. Of course, the law shows up before he could go after the ones that did it, and Holt is charged with the murders and payroll robbery. His friend's oldest daughter had been in town when all this happened, and she believed that he was not responsible. She talks the Sheriff into trusting Holt to go after the murders, so we begin this book.
Join Hugh and Holt as they each face their dangers…
