Southern-born Victoria Clapton is no stranger to writing. She completed her first book of poetry at age eight and her first novel at age thirteen. Conflict grows over the horizon, and the battles on Kurai only increase as everyone prepares for war. Wicked Wings by Victoria Clapton is the second installment of the Subaru's End trilogy. In book one, we discover that not all Cahya knows of herself is true, in fact; a lot is hidden or shall we say, taken from her with a plan even she has yet to know. After her return to Hikari, Cahya has to face the lie she lived under Leor's rule. From there, we begin to see the depth she's burdened with as the balancer of the realms. Moreover, Cahya's memories only come in fractions and as she meets certain key figures, but while they know everything, they're forbidden from revealing it as they would be "intervening." Even our dark and handsome king, Kage can only say so much.

The romance between Kage and Cahya is undeniably good! There are many and I mean MANY hot steamy scenes sprinkled all over the book for us to dive into. I can't help but notice that these scenes are also telling a tale. Kage and Cahya are body, mind, and soul, inseparable and meant to be. Without sharing any spoilers, Kage is literally the most patient and impatient man for Cahya. He will wait hundreds of years for her and just as easily lose control of her. And she is very much the same way!

Clapton's storytelling is poetic, the flow and pace do not drag the story! The last chapters of this book end with a nice reunion with new allies, and bonds made, but just as much makes me nervous! Hopefully, we can meet Cahya's parents, because I have questions for them. For now, I can only hope all the parties (like Tariq) succeed in bringing the war over to Kurai, but if Leor is still the sneaky little snake he is, I can only prepare myself.

This continuation of Subaru's End picks up hot and heavy as Cahya returns to the Light Realm in pursuit of reconciliation between Hikari and Kurai. I like very much that this second installment of the trilogy was just as intriguing, sexy and full of intense action as Book 1 Lurid Lantern. As always, Victoria Clapton delivers another great novel, and I am eagerly waiting to dive into book 3!

I am all in for this dark spicy fantasy series and okay, it’s definitely because I completely ship Cahya and Kage and their dark spicy chemistry! We learn so much here in WICKED WINGS, book two of the series, about Cahya, her personal history, and about family connections in general. I really enjoyed seeing Cahya come into her power in this book and learning more about her family history, parents and siblings. Lots of war and fighting (and spice of course, love Cahya and Kage! They have such a deliciously dark relationship that I love reading!), and I’m excited to see what book three will bring! 5/5 stars.

I loved seeing Cahya continue to come into her own, and the connection between her and Kage grow. More truths are learned in book two, and the war continues. Can't wait for the conclusion!
