Kings of Guardian #13

The Siege, Part 1

Rate this book
For years Guardian Security has protected the world against evil. They were an offensive weapon against monsters that sought to prey on the unprotected.

Until now.

Attacked at the heart of their operations, both in Washington D.C. and the South Dakota Annex, the Kings of Guardian go on the offense to protect the lives of their families, friends, and innocents caught in the crossfire.

This is War.

Who declared it? Where are they hiding and how did the Guardians miss the threat that has blown their world apart?

Survival isn't guaranteed.

To turn the tide, the Guardians must survive and protect those they love. But in that effort, there are no certainties. Theirs is a dangerous profession.

Author's note: The Siege is a two-part book with a possible cliffhanger ending at the conclusion of book one.

Heaven is burning

What an amazing book!!!! The unthinkable has happened Guardian has been attacked. In a effective coordinated attack. The Guardians are reeling, but they are getting back up.

This is an incredibly tense book. Everytime I finished a chapter I had to read next one to see what happened.

I have been reading this series since book one as well as the spin off. I seen all these characters develop. I have seem what they are capable of, and how much they care about each other. Now someone has attached them and everyone they care about. What retribution is coming that person's way? The term Hell To Pay come to mind. I can't wait to see Guardian's response in the next book.

Without a doubt... I loved that. Not in a rainbow and puppies way... in a vengeance will be mine sort of way.

I panicked at first, thinking that there were way too many characters to keep track of... I was wrong. This was a fluid read with each person or couple having their needed moment in the spotlight... without it being jarring.

I was so teary throughout this... and now I have to wait for part 2. And I don't even know if everyone is alive or safe... or if anyone will be by the end of part 2.

Highlights? Zane and Jewell. Maliki and Poet ( need to re-read their story ). Everything with Jason and Jacob (need to re-read Jacob and Tori's tale too... oh, gawd... Jason and Faith as well! ). The tiny elements of light relief that had been offered in this stress-inducing read... namely Lady.

Now... I feel that I will be pacing and wearing holes in various rugs, carpets and floors until I get to read part 2. Whelp.

Garggh... and I forgot... Operator Two-Seven-Four ( aka ???!!! no spoilers!!! ) and Phoenix... and that isn't coming until May!!!

25/03/22 Re-read in anticipation of part 2 next week. Even though it was less than 2 months ago that I read this... it still stands as a brilliant read. If anything, even more so. And Alonzo... I didn't mention Alonzo before...

I’m ready to deploy…….

Kris Michaels my trauma bag, go bag and guns are all packed. I’m ready to go help the Kings kick some butt.

Seige 1 is your best ever written book. Every book just gets better and better. Your one of 3 authors that I automatically pre-order before I read the blurb.

Ethan, Talon and Reece are gonna make some great Guardians one day! Please, I beg of you keep all of them safe in part 2. I don’t think I could handle if we lost anyone from the Annex. I can’t wait to see how Joseph responds.

This book had me on an emotional roller coaster ride. One minute I’m laughing, another I’m crying and then another screaming out obscenities.

I’m thinking that you need this group to do another proof read for spelling or something before March. We’ll all take the Guardian oath to remain quiet and not say a word.

If I could give this book 10 stars I would. Outstanding writing and March is just way to long away. Guess I’ll have to see a counselor to deal with the what happened in DC first until we learn about what happens at the Annex.

What ever it takes……… For as long as it takes!!!!!!!!

The author does it again! I’m so invested in her characters, we’ve basically grown up with the King family and all their friends, in The Siege we even get to read about some of the kids who are now teenagers, Oh My Heart ❤️

I was nervous to read part 1, not only do I hate cliffhangers but the Kings are part of us the readers just as much as the author, so after reading the blurb for the book I was worried.

This story had my heart racing! I don’t want to give too much away but I did throw my kindle down a few times as I couldn’t cope with reading what would happen next, Guardian was exploding and falling down around us, the writing style pulled every emotion and gave me all the feels.

I loved how each chapter followed a family member/group of people throughout the siege, with so many names it could have got confusing but each chapter was fast paced and well written, the chapter’s blended with the next for smooth reading.

The Siege, part 1 was action packed, edge of your seat suspense and a truly gripping storyline. The romance was comforting, sensual and at times emotional. Perfect blend for a perfect military romantic suspense novel.

As I post this review the author has announced that The Siege has hit the Top 10 of the Wall Street journal bestselling list and deservedly so, this is a brilliant story!! 👏🏼 highly recommend reading The Kings of Guardian series.

Kris Michaels has never been better.

Oh my word, where to start describing this book? Kris drags you into an unimaginable nightmare with this one. Be prepared for your anxiety to stay sky high from start to finish as you try to figure out who would be crazy enough to try all this against Guardian Security. D.C. headquarters, Jacob and Tori's home, the Annex, cargo plane? And who would dare be bold enough to try to kidnap King women? As each vignette is set up you will find yourself shaking your head, saying "no, surely not. But yes, someone has the brains, and people, and money to carry all this off and no one can figure out on who or why. As the current pressing need is to rescue everyone they can from headquarters wreckage, Tori and Faiths health and location and how the Annex has fared while those on top try to locate the entire hierarchy of Guardian. Many have fallen this day and nothing is guaranteed. Be prepared for tears and triumphs.

Guardian Gold!!

Kris has done it again. First, she creates this world, the world of all things Guardian, and she develops it into a world you want to escape to. Then she teases her readers mercilessly (okay, maybe it just feels merciless because at this point readers have a vested interest in these characters) about this siege has about to befall the people and places we've grown to love.

The Siege Part 1 (because a siege alone isn't stressful enough; please draw it out! lol) reminds us of everything we love about the Kings and their colleagues. I do recommend reading the previous books so you'll more fully understand. Guardian is so vast, you can see the next generation as they rise. I kept having to put it down because I wasn't sure I wanted to know what as about to happen. I'm fired up and ready for Part 2!

Action, Suspense of Epic Proportions

Who would think such a coordinated attack on Guardian could be so massive. When it happens it made me worry. The author pulls you in and gives you details of the recovery and rescue. Kris Michaels does smooth transitions dealing with the characters and their different situations.
The kids even rise to the challenges this story brings. I truly enjoyed the kids and learning about how the families have grown. I loved Zane telling Jewell just how much she means to him.
This is an intense story that starts with the DC attack. You learn a lot in this story and the one thing that stands out is how much these characters love one another, how they trust in each other’s strengths and skills and their determination to find out who and why this attack happened.
This is a story I couldn’t put down and has suspense as well as loving couples that are determined to protect and defend families as clearly there will be changes within the Guardian world. I look forward reading how these characters evolve and the future of Guardian.

Holy hell it's an adrenalin fuelled nail biting ride

No plot spoilers
No potential triggers
There are no errors that I can recall
The characterisation is absolutely flawless, I love the Guardian characters and when new ones are introduced or existing ones expanded it makes the series even more appealing. I can't wait for Phoenix's story!
The plotline is so engaging and introduces twisty little turns that make your heart race.
I am literally on pins because of the cliff hangers liberally sprinkled throughout the book.
I even have an idea of who the baddie is but anyone wanting a clue may have to go back almost to the beginning if I'm right . . .
There are some sex scenes and some swearing.
I can't recommend the series highly enough, well crafted characters and plotlines, but would advise reading from the beginning of the series to obtain the best reading experience.
It's going to feel like an age until the second book!

OMG!

When you're looking for a good book to read that is the start of a new series, this is it!
I haven't been able to sleep all night due to this one. It has it all and I've read the Guardians Series first and you won't be disappointed with it either. I think you're better off if you start at the beginning so you know the background of each one. Kris Michaels does not disappoint and she really outdid herself with this one. This book is full of action, despair, love, heartbreak, anticipation and so much more.

There are no words

Honestly I have no words to describe this book, nor the time as I NEED to immediately dive into the conclusion.
That should speak volumes.
Obviously this book went on my top reads list.

Guardian has been attacked on two fronts, South Dakota and DC. Many have been hurt or worse, all of the Kings have made it out some worse than other but so far their alive. Families in the DC area have been moved to the mountain. Maliki and Poet have been providing medical help. Charley and Smoke are on hand, she has taken the helm and we can see how she will eventually be when she assumes the mantle of Guardian. As of the end of part 1 we are awaiting Joseph, some Seal Teams and perhaps even the people of Hollister getting ready to take on those who want to harm the Ranch. Kris you’ve outdone yourself with this one. Only wish we didn’t have to wait another month for the conclusion. We all love our Guardians, Defenders, and Shadows. Thank you Kris for a pins and needles, tearing up and laughing at an amazing book.

Brilliant!!

I was so excited for this book to come out, and The Seige-Book 1 hit it out of the park and into the stratosphere! It was super exciting from the start. First a transport going to the Ranch gets attacked, then a two-pronged attack on Guardian HQ and the South Dakota Annex and it goes on from there - who is hurt, who is safe, is anyone dead and so on! I couldn’t put it down and now I am on pins and needles waiting for The Seige-Book 2, because you KNOW Guardian, Gabriel and the Kings will NOT let this stand - Whatever it takes, for as long as it takes! And you know that Kris Michaels will write the conclusion just a brilliant as book 1 because she is just awesome that way!

Captivated...Enthralled...Mesmerized! Pick your emotion because I can tell you it will not do justice to just how wrapped up you'll become while reading The Siege. I freely admit that when I saw that this book had landed on my tablet my heartbeat sped up in anticipation of finally getting to start a book Ì'd been waiting months to read. At the same time there was a sense of unease accompanying the anticipation of knowing that catastrophic events will unfold and no one will be invulnerable. When a writer does this they've done what they set out to do...engage you in their world. Kris Michaels certainly accomplished all that and so much more with The Siege. Kudos to you Kris!

OMG where do I start! I’ve been anticipating this book from months and it’s finally arrived. I read this book in one sitting, my heart was pounding/racing throughout the entire read. It’s absolutely fabulous.
If you’ve never read any of the Kings books please don’t start with this one as you’ll not understand who everyone is and your potential enjoyment of the book lessened. I’m going to read the book again to see if I missed anything. This book is a two parter, finale is due in March and I’m soooooo looking forward to it. I need answers and I want to see Joseph kick major butt! All in all this is a fabulous book and I couldn’t put it down. Roll on March!

Awesome book love all of Guardian

Don't start this late in the evening as you won't want to put it down. Story is intense from the first line with all the Guardian guys and girls involved.
Trying to figure out what Jewell is talking about is way beyond my computer skills
Kris very seldom leaves the reader hanging but this is one that does. Fortunately we only have to wait 2 months..
The clocks to connect to Phoenix and Aspens book didn't work so if you want it you may have to go hunt for it b

Edge of my seat

First review ever but loyal fan and reader of Kris Michaels. OMG! Been waiting for release of this book, new part one, and screamed because I don’t want to wait to see the ending. You don’t mess with the Guardians. Ever. Whatever it takes for as long as it takes. Kris Michaels…you have not reached your pinnacle but close. Thank you for writing yet again the super story of the Kings, Gabriel and the rest of the family of Guardians. Can’t wait for kick ass redemption.

Edge of my seat!!!is

First of all read the entire series The Kings of Guardian. The puzzle pieces will click wonderfully in this edge of your seat two-part installment. The Guardians are under attack by an unknown enemy and time is of the essence. So many layers have been written into this story and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I won't share the story but just tell you that it kept me till 2am! I am such a fan of Operator two seven four!

Riveting angst, fast-paced action, and the steadfast bonds of family and love. A must read! An author must do a delicate dance to successfully offer a book in two parts as THE SIEGE is. Only the talented know where to stop the story and (somewhat) assure the readers the second part will answer all questions and keep our hearts beating. I will be counting the days until the second part of THE SIEGE is released.

It is an amazing and mystical experience when an author captivates your heart and emotions and pulls you into his/her plot and characters through his/her words. Few authors have the magical ability, and Kris Michaels is a sorceress extraordinaire. After I retired and gifted myself a Kindle Unlimited membership, I discovered Kris Michaels’ book Jacob, Kings of Guardian #1 in October 2020. I could not help myself falling in love with the whole cast of characters and emotionally was so wrapped up Guardian Security. When I finished the novel, I then felt compelled to purchase and devour the next in the series: Joseph, Kings of Guardian #2.

Fast forward to the present and thirty books later, I read The Siege Part 1, by Kris Michaels. It is an extremely heart-wrenching read with suspense and angst. You once again meet all the characters that you read about and watch them come together to work toward a huge task: prevent total devastation to Guardian Security and its employees world-wide... by an unknown antagonist.

Like a Master weaver, Kris Michaels weaves a multitude of characters into a dangerous and complex plot. While her words will keep you spellbound, you be will on the edge of your seat throughout the read. Despite it being a tense read, Kris manages to interject sibling love, as well as hysterical and witty humor, which provide a sense of balance to warm your heart and give you hope… as we await Siege Part 2 at the end of March 2022.

There is so much you can say about this book but my initial thoughts were simple - WOW - Holy sh*t - OMG!!!!

The first thing that comes to mind is that this book spans less than 24 hours from the time Jacob slips into bed with Tori after working late to Jewell unleashing her beloved Godzilla.

So much is packed into this book that you think it is a longer period than it is. We get to see our Guardian heroes, settled with their soul mates, children growing up alongside them. Safe in the world they have created. Protected from the evil in the world.

Then Armageddon strikes and their world is shattered. We see not only the strength of our warriors but also the hidden strengths of their partners and the children. We ride the emotional roller coaster with them and fear turning the page for what we might find out.

And as you near the tip of the ride you pause, wondering what is over the crest, imagining all sorts and knowing answers will not be found until the end of March when Part 2 hits our Kindles.

Hang on tight, folks, because if Part 2 is like Part 1 then it's going to be one hell of a ride to the end!

Welcome to the world of the Guardians where hell has no greater fury than a Guardian at war when his family is threatened!

emotional

So I knew from the title that they were under attack, but this story is so descriptive and vivid that I had tears for almost the whole story. The fear, grief, worry and love is tangible. The events are fast paced and well developed. I have no idea who is at fault, but i couldn’t read fast enough to find out how everyone was, where they were and who was causing this damage and trauma to the Kings and Guardian. The story ends with a cliffhanger for the attack, but also multiple stories still open regarding the health and safety of many of the key characters. Jumping into the next book immediately!

The Siege book 1

This is when all that is holy breaks up. The Guardians have been attacked. People are missing and or killed. Everyone is in shock. There was too much room for error that happened. Though this is part one the storyline has a wicked cliffhanger. Can't wait for the next book/s to come out. Who will survive? Who did this? I have an idea who....but not totally sure why.

Wow. Seriously, wow!

There is absolutely no way anyone should read this without reading all of the Kings of Guardian (well, not really ALL... I skipped Jared and Christian's book) and the Shadows books. Really, this is a book that is not written to gain a new audience, but to keep a current readership involved with characters and, I believe, feed into upcoming story lines.

If you are considering reading Kings of Guardian books, here's my take:
Character development is heavy. Expect to spend time learning the characters and seeing them in successive books. Start with the first book!
Plot development is really different from book to book, but always flows well.
Language is filthy.
Sarcasm level is awesome!
Sex scenes are hot - rated r, definitely.
As I mentioned earlier, I skipped one book - Jared's. Don't judge me. I'm just not ever going to read homosexual romance.
There are brief references to their relationship in subsequent books.

I really tried to keep myself from reading this until part 2 was released, but I couldn't help myself.

There's really not any additional information I can give that wouldn't be spoiling some part of the story.

Just how Ms. Michaels is going to wrap this up in one book is beyond me. I keep feeling like I should know who is behind this. There's all this shadowing! But I just can't figure it out yet. Extremely frustrating. How on earth am I going to wait until the end of March to read the ending????

An expensive story which should be in one book

This is acutally a combined review, the same text is submitted for The Siege - Part 2

I only recently re-started the Guardian books after a break and normally hate books ending on cliffhanger. But in this case that's not the biggest problem, the problem is that is should have been just one book, the author seem to take advantage of a faithful reader group by splitting a story into two and charging quite a lot for it.

While it's great to see so many characters again, was it really necessary for all of them to have s*x before the attack started? All readers will have read her books before and know and. understand the characters why does it feel like Ms Michaels needed to fill the pages instead of concentrating on the actual attack?

The bad boy was fairly clear from the end of the last book actually (Reaper), I was disappointed that there was no further description of his view and action, the small bit at the end of the second book felt a bit like an add-on.

While I know Jewell is a genius, I think the scenario how she is able to find everything feels over the top, If Guardian is so well connected, there was nothing she could have tapped for assistance?

Yes, the story is a conclusion for Kings of Guardian and a set-up how Guardian is going forward. But a novella should have done the trick as well.

I borrowed The Siege ~ Part 1 ~ Kings of Guardian ~ Book 13 by Kris Michaels from the Kindle Unlimited Program.

Guardian is under attack at it's headquarters and at the South Dakota training annex on the Marshall Ranch. First a plane inbound to South Dakota is shot down. At the same time the headquarters building in Washington DC is attacked with missles from all sides using adjacent buildings and leveled.

Guardian gathers, clears the rubble in Washington DC, rescueing as many as they can, the Annex has pushed the alarm that they are under attack and all of the families except Tori and Amber are taken to safety. Tori and Amber are still missing.

Plans are executed to retake and rescue the people at the Annex, all the Kings are out of the building in Washington DC with some injuries and the story ends... The description said this was a two-part plot and the first would end with a cliffhanger. Unlike some cliffhangers this has suggestions of how Guarian will fight back and it warned it would be a cliffhanger so it was expected. Everything so far has been exciting, the characters true to their previous selves in pervious books and an exciting build-up to how Guardina fights back.

A Jaw Dropping Action Packed Story! Tissue Needed Warning!

Kris Michael's You are a gifted & passionate author. You have a way of bringing so many of your characters stored in your imagination world & turning them into great stories that can suck a reader in. This book has now moved to the #1 top spot of all your books I've read so far & I can't stop thanking & praising you enough for creating such brilliant stories you deserve all the recognition & hard work you put in to make these books available to readers like myself who can never get enough of this Guardian World of yours!

Out of all The Kings of Guardian & other books in this Guardian International world this book by far the most Gut Wrenching & Action Packed from beginning to the end of part one. What a roller coaster ride that had me so emotional from crying more than I ever had reading one of your books, It brought back so many memories of that tragic day on 9/11. 😭

Warning you all need lots of tissue, more than a glass of wine or shots to get through this one! You will not want to stop reading once you start & believe me I only stopped to get more drinks, snacks, stretch my arms & legs. I pulled an all nighter just because I had to know what happened to everyone at Guardian & who was the evil ones behind it! Now I'm off to read part 2 because this story is no where finished & I just can't wait to read what happens next!

I just knew this was going to be an emotional roller coaster ride, but kris michaels has done it again. this is all about the carnage and the survivors, and of course we know what the seige 2 will be.
I must say, reading the total sum of the guardian series will certainly help you understand what's going on and it will make you smile. well it gave me a little thrill as well, to hear all the guardians and their families/wives cone out in this story. all of them have their own role in their own book but like a puzzle they are all piecing together in this storyline.
the complex ideas putting this book together along with the past 14 books is mind boggling, it just so awesome.
matt haynes, your the bomb! thank you so much for your brilliant voice and narration.
I have to add, the only other author I have read/listened to that writes this amount of complexity of a huge number of books in her series, is a woman in a totally different genre but has managed to connect all the dots over time...Kresley Cole the "Immortals after dark " series
