I LOVE brothers best friends romances. Adore them 100% They are my favorite. I also enjoy a good forced proximity and fake relationship. And if said fake relationship is with her brothers best friend, look out!

This book is funny, goofy, heart wrenching, smile causing, nose wrinkling, frustrating and all the things you need so when you finish it, you spend at least a second deciding if you should immediately reread it or bask in the sweetness.

Hannah was real, and flawed and adorable. Seth was dreamy and teasy and chicken and I was here for it. I was so happy to get to see Millie and Jameson live their HEA and Colby needs some happy in his life and I hope it comes in the form of a free spirited, hippie-esque woman.
Also, Gertrude. Still terrifying.

3.5 rounded up.

This was a sweet, brother's best friend, small town, kissing only romance. I really loved the FMC, and her dreams of opening a bookstore and years of secretly pining after her older brother's best friend. Great cast of characters, small town charm and some swoony romance. Perfect for fans of Sarah Adams and good on audio.

This book was so cute and so much fun to read! I really enjoyed it!
These characters were so fun! I instantly connected with Hannah. She was totally a kindred spirit. She’s awkward and quiet but also confident as herself and I loved that. I love her dream of opening a bookstore and I love that she worked at a library! That was really fun. I just really loved Hannah’s character!💗
And Seth… He was absolutely hilarious. He was so cute! His protectiveness was so sweet and his fear of tiny kids was cracking me up. He was a fun one and I really liked him!
The side characters are also great! I really liked Millie and Tess. They were such fun, supportive friends. It makes me want to read Millie’s story now! I also liked Colby as the protective older brother. He also amused me a lot. 😂
The love story was really sweet. I love the friends-to-more, unrequited love, and falling for your brother’s best friend tropes so I was pretty sure I’d love this. Seth and Hannah’s banter and pranks were so fun.
I laughed out loud multiple times. The humor in this book was so good. Seriously. I was laughing or snickering almost the whole time. I love books like that! There were so many good moments! The babysitting, the wedding, the little kids, the pranks… it was great. 😂
There were also plenty of sweet moments too though!❤️

As for the content, I personally would consider it clean! A kiss or two. Quite a bit of the characters noticing each other’s appearance. A little suggestive/ fade to black scene in the epilogue but they’re married so I didn’t have as much of a problem with that. There was one use of h*ll when a character gets upset.
I’d recommend it to older teens and up.

To sum it up, this was a very fun and sweet contemporary love story! If you love books that have:
•an awkward, fun MC
•a hilarious and cute firefighter hero
•a protective older brother
•hilarious, supportive bffs
•falling for your brother’s best friend
•friends to more
•unrequited love
•hilarious banter
•funny little kids
•books that have libraries and bookstores
I think you’ll love this one!💗

Thank you to the author for sending my an e-arc in exchange for a review! All opinions are my own. 😊

I really liked this book! When I read the first book, it had hints about Hannah and Seth being the couple on this one and I really wanted to see their story and it didn't disappoint.

I liked the writing and both characters' point of view and personality. I appreciated that the reason for the male character to not see her different for a long time was because of their age difference (he's 8 years older), and that for a long time it wasn't even possible for him to feel something for her, and not just because she was the sister of his best friend, and I did like how that part was handled as well.
I liked the way the author chose for him to have his awakening of feelings for the female protagonist and how their dynamic started to change as he admitted for himself his feelings for her. Loved the slow burn!

Their story was so beautiful with some very funny parts! I liked seeing the couple from the last book, the groups of friends and Hannah and Seth's interactions with her brother. I hope he also gets a story!

*I've received an ARC of this book, from the author, in exchange for an honest review.

good vibes, pining, brothers best friend. what else can I ask for?

this was such a cute read with my absolute favourite trope. I don't normally do age gap but I could deal with this one. Colby was so annoying in the beginning, he reminded me very much of my own brother but by the end he was so funny (no I'm not saying my brother is so funny)

I'm thoroughly enjoying this series, I look forward to the next one!

content: kissing only

This book was overall enjoyable for me but what really got me was how quickly they got married. They hadn’t even completed their first date before deciding that they would get married which just wasn’t for me.

This was definitely my least favorite of the 3 in the series. I didn't love the storyline as much and I just got increasingly frustrated with the characters throughout the story. The ending was at least more unique and unexpected, but didn't cure the annoyance I had through the whole book.

Maybe I’m the wrong demographic

This seemed so silly and juvenile. Honestly, a 30 year old man is afraid to have a relationship with a woman because her brother, his best friend, may not approve? Absurd.
And here’s a friendly tip if you plan to be a professional writer, and don’t know when to use I/me in a sentence. Leave out the first name, and the answer becomes obvious. You’re welcome.
I will assume I am just the wrong demographic for this one, and leave it for those for whom these issues are immaterial.

The Heartbreaker I Adore by Haley Zaragoza is book 2 in the When in Waverly series, but it easily reads as a standalone. This story is sweet and full of romance and humor! It also contains some of my favorite tropes! It’s a combination of falling for my brother’s best friend/unrequited love/friends to more all rolled up into one cute story!

I love that the focus is primarily on the romance and humor and that there was no unneeded conflict to get in the way. I also liked how all of the characters, both main and secondary, felt relatable and real.

If you are looking for a quick read that is full of romance and humor and is completely clean, this may be the series for you.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. All opinions are my own. This is a clean read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

- double pov
- firefighter x librarian
- small town
- brother's best friend
- slow burn (kinda)
- 8 years age gap

I liked the book until the very last chapters where everything went down. The ending was cute, but I didn't like it per sé.
Hanna has been in love with Seth since she was a little girl, but he never knew and never noticed.
Seth finally noticed Hanna when her house was on fire, and he saw her frightened. With that view, he sees her and (finally) notices that she's gorgeous.
It starts their story, Seth's fear of his love because of his best friend, Hanna's brother, and how he will react.

Hanna's is determined to stop her nonsense love with a man who isn't reciprocating her love. She tried to date one of Seth's coworkers (bad move) and almost left the town to escape from herself and him.

It can be described as a slow burn because they are hot for each other but never say it or display their feelings for the other character enough to be recognized.

I gave the book 4 ⭐️ because of the last four/five chapters. They confess their love, and so far, no problem. They then went to their first date, and he asked her to marry him! She has loved him for 13 years, while he noticed her a month prior. It felt weird and rushed to be said from Seth.
And she agrees, no problem there. She's been hot for him for so long that this was everything she was waiting for.
The problem, another one but connected to the first one, is the fact that Seth wants to marry her that night, after their first date.
And she agrees.

Seth's feelings were more than enough for wanting to marry her, but it felt odd and wrong also.

Reader’s Notes:

– this is book two of a series, but you do not need to read the others to understand this story

– this is told from both Hannah and Seth’s points of view

– there is an age gap of 8 years between them

Review:

Guys, this book was very funny and entertaining! Hannah was so awkward around Seth trying to hide her long held crush. Seth enjoyed seeing Hannah acting awkward and teasing her. And of course they live in a small town which makes things interesting when it comes to the rumor mill and what they come up with based on what they think they see. 😂

In this story we see Hannah trying to forget/let go of her crush on her brother’s best friend, Seth. When one thing after another seems to go wrong and Seth shows up more times than usual, Hannah decides that she should start looking to live elsewhere to escape it all. But things don’t go as planned…

Seth is beginning to see Hannah as more than his best friend’s little sister and is shocked to realize it. At first he tries fighting it, but he is unable to last long without wanting to spend time around her. As his feelings grow, it is hard for him to hide it from those around him no matter how many times he denies it.

Will either of them open up about their feelings? Or will Hannah leave never knowing how Seth feels?

OCD slander, age-gap romance, obsession with children, queer people do not exist

On 3.5 speed the audiobook was over so quickly I thought, whatever. Though I was considering dnf-ing quite a few times (every time the OCD slander happened and someone wanted to have kids... actually, I don't know how I even finished this). It's utterly ridiculous, so I did laugh a few times, but I probably cringed more. I'll just go back to fanfic for my good mood fix, straight romances really aren't where it's at (as if I didn't know this already).

Absolutely ADORABLE!!!

Brother’s best friend trope is like, THE trope you know? It just hits the mark every time and this book was no exception.

Hannah was so relatable and funny! I loved the awkward situations she would find herself in too.
And owning a Bookshop? Sign me up for that dream!

Seth was just a dreamboat! Loved reading from his POV and how he saw Hannah. I wish he had come to his senses a little sooner but whatever! I loved him anyway 😂

I also so enjoyed seeing more of Millie and Jameson and Tess and all the town of Waverley.
I can not wait to see who Colby ends up with because that boy needs his life shook up, let me tell you. 😌

Extra things I loved… (with no context for sake of spoilers 😉)

The Fire 🔥
Playing with her hair…
Red Dye Joey 😂
The cats 🐈
Babysitting
The Grand Gesture 📚
Arkansas ⛰
The Epilogue 🥰

I’m literally crying because I loved this book so much. The age gap didn’t bother me much because they were adults. If she was younger I would’ve been a little weirded out but it wasn’t horrible. This book was so much better than the first and their love is just so fricken cute. Also the ending of the book was funny and wholesome. HIGHLY recommend!!!

“Okay, cool. So, can I take you out sometime?” he asks her, and my entire body convulses. He cannot ask out Hannah. My Hannah. He’s not nearly good enough for her. He’s an absolute dork.

Truthfully, Chris is a great guy, and I’m apparently a jerk for trying to keep him from finding “true love.” I just can’t stand the thought of Hannah being that for him…or for anyone…other than me.
It hits me like a ton of bricks. I’m jealous. I’ve never been jealous like this before. I’ve never had a reason to be. If a woman was interested in someone else, it never bothered me too much. There was always another woman to pursue. But it does bother me that Hannah seems to be interested in Chris. I hate that he gets to take her out for a night on the town.
I want to be the one taking Hannah Stuart out on a date, but I can’t. Colby would be furious. I can’t believe this is happening. I’m crushing on her hard, and I have been for a while. I would be a fool not to. She’s sweet, funny, smart, and an absolute knockout in the looks department, and every guy in this town knows it. I’m the last one to figure it out. How have I gone all these years without noticing?

Am I turning into a lovesick puppy? Maybe. Do I care? Not that much. Colby will have to man up and deal with the fact that I’m dating his little sister, because I will date her. I will find a way to sweep this woman off her feet and show her that I’m the man for her.

“You are my dream. Anything else is just extra.”

Sometimes love is waiting right in front of you.
Hannah Stuart has spent her life loving a man who barely knows she exists. Finally fed up with her situation, she decides it’s time to start over somewhere new. I enjoyed this book a little bit more than I did with the first book in the series. I love the sibling’s best-friend romance trope. You got the brother’s best friend trope, small town, kissing only romance, friendships. I definitely had more swoony moments in this book than the first book. 3.25 stars.

📚 Highlights:
- brother’s best friend
- firefighter & librarian 🚒🖤📚
- She’s 23. He’s 31.
- Childhood crush
- the kittens 😭😻

📚 My thoughts:

I had a tiny bit of a hard time with Hannah’s pity party. She was very frustrated with her life. She wanted a better job, a man to love her (specifically Seth, no one else would do), and a home of her own. All of these things make sense - but I wanted to slap her silly and tell her to get it together and put her confidence pants on. The common theme of Seth and Hannah is miscommunication times 10 which was also a struggle for me.

I felt like the second half of the book really hit its stride and checked a lot of really good romance boxes for me. But the ending was just ........ oh my. So abrupt. So rushed. I just wanted more from Seth and Hannah’s journey of getting to know other as boyfriend/girlfriend rather than only as her brother’s best friend. I wanted more depth from them because I really liked what I was given.

With that said. There were some very cute moments involved throughout. When Seth did face masks with Hannah and watched true crime YouTube make up videos with her- I died a little from swoon. His grand gesture was also very sweet. Once Seth caught the love bug- I loved seeing his feelings grow for Hannah.

I didn’t quite connect with this book as much as I did with the first one (I was obsessed with the first one)- however, I will 100% be picking up whatever Haley (author) releases next because I love the characters that she writes, and I love the light-hearted joy they are filled with.

📚 Favorite quote:

This book was such a swoony romance. I loved Hannah and Seth. Talk about love at first sight, Hannah has it bad for boy-next-door Seth Miller – her brother’s best friend and 8 years her senior. I imagine her childhood crush to be similar to that of a young person falling for their idol, however, with him being an actual person, seeing him around town and in her home those feelings would be challenging to catalogue. Sure enough at 23 Seth still makes her heart skip a beat but as far as she knows he doesn’t know that she exists.

Seth on the other hand does indeed notice Hannah but simply cannot rock the boat and break the guy code and pursue his best friend’s little sister even if she is the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen.

Gosh the pinning in this book is intense, you just want to reach out and shake them both yelling “You are perfect for each other”. As one might imagine this is a slow-burn romance and indeed Seth did almost miss his chance but as luck would have it he knows the way to Hannah’s heart and puts it all on the line.

I loved their story, their sweet friendship and how it was both a slow burn and insta-love all at once. I am so glad they got their happily ever after but I would have loved to see more of them as a couple. This book hit all the right notes for me and I will certainly be picking up the other two books in the series as I am just not ready to let go of not only these characters but also their friends. Would highly recommend it to other hopeless romantics.

👩‍🚒 👩‍🚒 👩‍🚒 👩‍🚒 👩‍🚒 5/5

This book is so sweet and cute. I just had my mouth filled with so much sweetness because it is so good. I loved Seth and Hannah. As a couple together they are awesome. I love how Seth really cares for Hannah and he goes above and beyond to care for her. Even though he is a little thickheaded at times he actually has some of the best intentions.

Hannah was also a fun character. Even though she is a bookworm and that usually pays way to flat cardboard boxed female characters she wasn’t at all. I love how she actually wants to have her dreams of owning a bookstore and actually is realistic about that. She goes after what she wants but also isn’t afraid to work hard for it.

The Romans in this book is just a awesome. I love the moments in the slowburn feel in this book. There is so much romantic tension between the two characters but it isn’t overly angsty. The chemistry was sizzling. I love how even though this book is clean and doesn’t have explicit detail it actually has a lot of steam with the kisses and also the tenderness.

One of my other favorite parts of the book was actually the side characters. Usually I don’t enjoy most side characters but Colby, Hannah’s brother is so sweet. He cares and is the overbearing annoying brother. He wants Hannah happy. In summary I highly recommend you pre-order this book. It is so fun and I highly recommend you read it.

BRIEF SYNOPSIS: Hannah has had a major crush on Seth practically her whole life. The only problem? Seth happens to be her brother’s best friend. Hannah decides it’s time for her to move on. But she feels the only way to do that is by moving away from her small hometown of Waverly, Texas. But recently Seth’s been acting like he doesn’t see her as just his best friend’s little sister. What’s a girl to do?

I read the first book in this series last month and it was cute, and this one was as well. I have really been enjoying the brother’s best friend trope, and this one has a little bit of an added element since there’s also an age gap (8 years). I felt like that made things more interesting. I feel like a lot of times with the brother’s best friend trope both parties have been secretly in love with each other for years and hiding it. But I felt like the age gap added into the mix allowed for the feelings to develop suddenly (for Seth that is), and I haven’t read a brother’s best friend romance yet where that was the case (I know they’re out there; I just haven’t read one yet).

This is a pretty quick read. I read it in a day. I think I liked the first one better, which surprised me. I really enjoyed this book until about halfway through and then it was just okay for me. Not exactly sure why. But it is still a cute light romcom read and I enjoyed it enough that I want to read book 3, which came out about a month ago.

Once I get past my embarrassment, I allow myself to glance down at Hannah and see that she has fallen asleep. Her face is calm and peaceful, and her hair is all over my lap. I run my fingers through it and wrap it around my index finger. She rolls onto her side and nuzzles herself closer to my thigh. I freeze for a moment and listen for her breathing to even out again. When it does, I continue feeling her soft, silky strands of blonde hair on my fingers. She sighs contentedly, and I think that this is exactly how life should be.

But right now, he’s looking into my eyes like he’s looking for the answers to the universe, and I don’t know what to make of that.

Hannah fell asleep with her head on my shoulder a little while ago, and now this whole night feels like it might be worth it for this moment. Her head feels like it was made to rest on my shoulder. I place a quick kiss on the top of her head.

“So, can I take you out sometime?” he asks her, and my entire body convulses. He cannot ask out Hannah. My Hannah. He’s not nearly good enough for her.

“You’re helpless,” she sighs.
“I really am. Take care of me.”

His face softens as he brings his hands to cradle my face, and he says, “You are my dream. Anything else is just extra. Just… just please don’t go.”

Please tell me she’s joking, because looking at her right now, I think I’d give her anything she wants, even twelve kids.

Cute story

I really don't enjoy the trope where they both like each other and it's sooo obvious but for very stupid reasons, they just can't be together or voice their feelings.
I also don't like age gap romance, but this wasn't bad like I did enjoy how his feelings developed over time, and he was against it because he knew her when she was a kid.
The only weird thing was this line "I think you were the last baby I held"
MMC said this to FMC!!!!!!!
And I was like ICK why did you have to mention that

Overall it was a nice chill read, there was a bit of slow burn and I did like the Hannah but Seth really annoyed me when he was very hot and cold, telling people his actions toward Hannah meant nothing, like truly gaslighting her most of the time, just because he was afraid of her brother finding out. Grow a pair bro!!!

I think i stopped reading when they finally kissed at the end. They were about to go on their first date and I couldn't care less... like I knew it was a done deal after that. Also the book could've ended there unless there's some twist that's at the end which I don't think there was.

OMGOSH THIS BOOK!! 😍😍😍 I really enjoyed THE NICE GUY NEXT DOOR (book 1 in the series) but THIS was just 🤌🏼 *chef's kiss* It has earned a spot among my top favorite books now. If I had a paperback of this, I would have hugged it when I finished.
Southern setting (Texas) Heroine works at a Library. Dual POV. Firefighter love interest.👨🏻‍🚒 8 year age gap. Brother's Best Friend (which is the absolute best!)
So sweet and so funny and so swoony! A fantastic story you don't want to miss!!

📚 Some quotes:
Kids are cute in theory and can even be funny at times, but they’re also absolutely terrifying. The scariest thing on this planet. But I can’t admit to Hannah that my biggest fear is tiny humans.
[I feel this in my soul. This was me before I had my own tiny human 😅]

...looking at her, I know my heart is in trouble. Deep, deep trouble.

I scamper away, forcing my mind to think about the beautiful bookshelf instead of the feel of Seth’s rock-hard body.
Books, books, books, abs, abs… No, Hannah! Books!
