Second in a row with this Nathan Grant thriller by Kenneth Rosenberg.

A shadowy group is murdering American diplomats. But who are they, and what are they after?

Nathan Grant is at it again, this time hunting down a group of international assassins as they try to take out some of America's highest-ranking diplomats. After breaking with his bosses at the CIA, Nathan is left to solve this mystery on his own. What he uncovers is a conspiracy stretching all across the globe and involving corrupt politicians, notorious drug cartels and ruthless weapons smugglers.

Only Nathan Grant could possibly tie these many threads together. Will he finally get to the truth?

A complex and action filled thriller, with Nathan Grant being a character who likes to work alone, and trusts his own capabilities, always getting himself in difficult situations.

Well paced. Four stars

I can't give it a 4 because the ending was so abrupt, and the plot so unrealistic. Our hero Nathan Grant decides to assassinate multiple people, including a U.S. Senator on the flimsiest of circumstantial evidence.

Good Action. Decent Plot. Good Story.

I enjoyed this story. I found some situations were out on the edge of believability, but I didn't let it spoil the read (Mr. Rosenberg is not the first author I've read who pushed the limits of reality). Every once in a while, things got a bit cliche' but again, we'll not let that stop us from continuing on. Overall, characters were well-developed. The plot, as far as I could tell, was consistent (I'm not going to check to see if some of the travel times were accurate 😁). I did not read book one of the series, but I didn't feel I needed to because things from the characters pasts were revealed. And things moved along nicely. I will probably read the next book in the series.

The second in the “Nathan Grant” thriller series “The Paris Conspiracy” has me hooked. It is a great follow up to “The American” and I look forward to reading his next adventure, “The Berlin Connection”.
Nathan Grant, the protagonist, in some ways makes me think of a combination of a James Bondish type character and a Liam Neeson character, Bryan Mills, from the movie “Taken” who globetrots to foreign lands and possesses a very particular set of skills.
The author, Kenneth Rosenberg, reminds me of John Grisham’s earlier work in the sense that the story moves along at good pace keeping me wanting to see what’s going to happen next.
It’s a good fun read I recommend and would think it would make a great movie.

Exciting action packed read without gratuitous, predictable relationships & sex thrown in.

Enjoyed this action novel more than any others I've read recently. Unlike most stories, I couldn't predict what scenarios were coming up. Author had a good variety of events take place that didn't feel like imitations of other books. Character's actions weren't so far-fetched that they were impossible to believe & made me cringe. None of the storylines of "man conquers woman & gets her in bed because he's a sex-god" which always makes me roll my eyes.
I will read more of Rosenberg's stories.

The Paris Conspiracy. Kenneth Rosenberg

Nathan Grant can be a planner, but in actuality he acts on impulse honed by his training as an elite soldier and CIA operative. He doesn't always follow orders blindly if his information or intelligence leads him in other directions. Presidential candidates are being eliminated and Nathan is the only one with a clear understanding of the players involved. Non stop action from the first to last page!!! An excellent read!!! Enjoyed immensely!!

Who gains from death

Nathan is primed to do his first job as a hired assassin, but when he comes up against the target, his gut instinct says wrong man. Not killing the target puts Nathan in the bad books back at CIA headquarters. In his hunt for the real target, Nathan meets many wealthy people, one in particular who draws Nathan’s attention. Nathan’s search takes him to many places, and a final resting place for a particular trio. ENJOY!

disavowed ex operative who loves pastries!

What rollicking good fun. Nathan Grant is an emotionally wounded ex CIA ex Ranger who is roped in for a black op that doesn’t go to plan. He takes it upon himself to sort out the mysterious violent political maneuvers in play, eating a lot of French pastries and yummy food as he does. That part wasn’t meant as humor in the book but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Great pacing, instrospection, action, and satisfying ending.

A lot of actors.

The author goes out of his way to keep Nathan from being a superhero. Nathan just works his way through each difficult and gets lucky. There is a good story line and the author keeps adding to it. Nathan is a good character to build a book around. I believe each person could have a different perspective on Nathan and the way he handles problems. It seemed like he was always having trouble. A good book for a short read.

An enjoyable story that shows that it is possible to write such fiction without recourse to blasphemous language. I would have given it 5 stars, but some of the situations, and the manner in which the hero gets out of them, stretched my imagination a little too far. I would also have liked to have known that the hero is fluent in French before I had almost reached the end of the story!
Still, it was certainly good enough for me to consider another book in the series.

What do drug cartels, corrupt politicians, weapons smugglers, and international assassins have in common? Money, power, and Nathan Grant. This time Grant's adventure has him on his own, as he has to break ties with the CIA and rely on ingenuity, guts, and a bit of luck. Another fast-paced, action-packed page turner!

Not Quite

Book 2 is not quite as good as the debut novel in this series - kind of like a musician who’s first album is full of great songs then they suffer a sophomore slump. The writing is still very good - paragraphs zing along. The plotting and some of the character decisions don’t quite ring true.

Light, formulaic read

If you want some easy entertainment, packed with stereotypical, impossible situations, then you might just enjoy this. Think James Bond without sex meets John McClain without so much swearing.

The pacing was pretty good. The book didn't lag too much. Quite a few cliches and tropes in the writing.

Overall I thought it was so-so.

Jason Bourne derivative

All action, all guns, all explosions and all over the top. Escapism, sure, but lacks some structure and depth. But easy reading and easily forgotten once finished.

Very enjoyable

A conspiracy to replace the President of the United States. It was written well, had good defined characters and the main character did not engage in unbelievable action.

Good, but some situations stretch the imagination. Grant manages to travel around and leaves lots of things in disrepair (like a mega yacht), or bodies. Somehow, he never is locked up by the police, but he has very bad folks chasing him.

I think I'd enjoy this as a movie, but it's not for me as a book. I gave it a good go, but called it quits about 20% in.
