A moving story about one man's journey in the medical field. There is much to say about this must-read book and its author, Dennis Blocker...but I'll say one thing's for sure: you won't be able to put it down.
This wonderful book is an ode to the hardened and heroic registered nurses, CNAs, EMTs, doctors, and medical professionals who work in our critically needed hospitals/ERs who’ve seen it all. Medics and clerks who work themselves to an early grave, yet come back night after night to do it all over again. It'll make you laugh, and it'll make you cry.
It's often been said to live a life worth living; to live a life that one can look back on and be proud of…The author Dennis Blocker has done just that.
Thank you for sharing your experience. It was an honor to have worked with you and thankful we have new jobs. It took a long time for me to finish as I started to have the ER dreams again. It was just easier for me to bury those thoughts. After 20 years in the ER I went back to working psych. I actually started my career in psych and now a psych NP. I remember making that choice of working for Baptist ER or UT psych and finally gave up the ER career-a great choice for me. I restarted reading your book after being able to visit battlefield in Vietnam (battle of Hue). Anyway thank you again and hope to see you soon, just not in an ER. Tim Ford Sorry didn’t realize the book was on my wife’s kindle account
I wish I could buy this book for everyone I know plus more. I strongly feel that ALL people need to hear this story. This book will help you understand how those who are first responders are affected by their work. I laughed, I cried and I reflected on the many things that I have been affected by over the years. I appreciate the write’s vulnerability and for sharing his journey. I pray this book will help others.
