With two other careers to her credit before becoming a novelist and four states in which she's lived for extended periods of time, Sherryl Woods has collected friends and memories, along with way too much unnecessary junk.
"The friends are the only things I've brought with me through the years that really matter," she says. "I could probably live without one more chintz teacup, another tin-litho sandpail or another snowglobe, but I need those friends."
The theme of enduring friendships and families is always central to Sherryl's books, including her latest Chesapeake Shores series — THE INN AT EAGLE POINT, FLOWERS ON MAIN and HARBOR LIGHTS.
Author of more than 100 romance and mystery novels, Sherryl Woods grew up in Virginia. Over the years she had lived in Ohio and Florida, as well as California. Currently she divides her time between Key Biscayne, Florida and Colonial Beach, Virginia, the small, river-front town where she spent her childhood summers.
A graduate of Ohio State University School of Journalism, Sherryl spent more than ten years as a journalist, most of them as a television critic for newspapers in Ohio and Florida. For several years she also coordinated a motivational program for the more than 8,000 employees at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Medical Center.
Her first book, RESTORING LOVE, was published in 1982 by Dell Candlelight Ecstasy under the pseudonym of Suzanne Sherrill. Her second book, SAND CASTLES, under the pseudonym of Alexandra Kirk, was published later that same year by Bantam. She began using her own name when she moved to the Second Chance at Love line at Berkley Publishing. In 1986, she began writing full-time and also began her long career at Silhouette Books with the Desire title NOT AT EIGHT, DARLING, set in the world of television which she covered for so many years.
In addition to her more than 75 romances for Silhouette Desire and Special Edition, she has written thirteen mysteries — nine in the Amanda Roberts series and four in the Molly DeWitt series.
When she's not writing or reading, Sherryl loves to garden, though she's not at her best on a riding lawn mower. She also loves tennis, theater, and ballet, even though her top spin has long since vanished, she's never set foot on a stage, and she's way too uncoordinated to dance. She also loves baseball and claims anyone who's ever seen Kevin Costner in "Bull Durham" can understand why.
Three stars are graciously given. This book was cut too short. It was crammed, and could’ve been drawn out a little better. I still LOVE the story line and characters, but it was just TOO easy for me.
Série: The Devaneys Brothers 02 - Um Lugar No Coração - Sherryl Woods Título original: Sean's Reckoning Título: Um Lugar No Coração Autor: Sherryl Woods Tradução: Gracinda Vasconcellos Série: The Devaneys Brothers 02 Editora: Harlequin Ano: 2013
Meu Deus!!!

Really loved Sean's story, again Sean had a lot of abandanment issues to deal with but Kevin's nature soon started to bring Sean out of his shell.
I really liked how Deanna supported him and was determined to show him that he deserved love in his life. Kevin was a grate adition to this book a fun little boy who was determined to become Sean's friend and it did not take long for Sean to start falling for him. Hank and Ruby's side story was also fun.
Now they've located Michael so looking forward to re reading his story next. Love this bseries because it's lovely to see how the brothers are overcoming there issues and finding the person there meant to be with. They are also short reads which makes it easy to get through them.
I would have given it a couple of more stars but I just couldn't stand Deanna. I mean, there's being careful and independent but then again she just took it to another level. Annoying. Story was a little weak as well. Loved the first one better. Go Ryan!
I did get a little frustrated with Deanna, though. Being a mother myself, even though I'm not a single mom, I do think that her concern should have been more about Sean getting so tight with her son as opposed to herself. She was more worried about herself than she was with the relationship with Kevin and Sean. Of course, it all worked out and it was more my thoughts than anything that matters in the story.
Sean really was a good guy and he did step up with Kevin and was a real stand-up guy. Deanna dragged her feet too much but with good reason. Her ex-husband was a louse and had abandoned her when Kevin was a baby and trusting a man after something like that isn't easy. I get that.
I do wish Ryan had been in the book more but it was still good to see him. I loved Ryan and I really liked Sean. Now I have to see what's going to happen with Michael.
I read this out of my TBR pile for the TBR challenge which I am taking part in - a category romance. I had to look that up as I hadn't heard of a category romance. Turns out I have read them, but these days mostly not. They are a shorter romance novel, that come out monthly from publishers like Harlequin and Silhoutette. When I was growing up I read many Mills and Boon and another one that came out of Britain.
I have read a few of Sherry Woods already and will no doubt one day read more of them. This was a gentle and pleasant story and I enjoyed it without being totally carried away by it. This is part of a series about brothers lost to each other when their parents disappeared when they were young. This was the story of the second brother, however it is fine as a stand alone.
SEAN'S RECKONING - DEVANEYS #2 - (Sean and Deanna)
BOSTON'S BRAVEST...
Son of a shattered family, fireman Sean Devaney knew love never lasted--so he refused to chance it. Then he encountered scrappy but vulnerable single mom Deanna Blackwell and her pint-sized son--who had just lost everything in a devastating fire....
Despite the warning in Sean's head, he had to protect this struggling waitress and her spunky kid. But who knew that mother and child would take chinks out of the armor around his heart? A tower of testosterone, Sean was tough enough to storm burning buildings. But was he brave enough to risk building a family?
I am pretty sure that I've read something in one of these series....something tickles my brain about the "brothers" and the situation. However, it is a good book and I enjoyed reading it, I love how both Sean and Deanna meet and how their lives come together. There should be a side book on Ruby and Hank...I would love to know what happens with them as well. You will really want to read this series, now I want to go find the other brothers stories and what happens with each one.
This is the second in the Devaney Brothers series. I recommend reading them in order, as the storyline definitely moves forward as each brother enters the picture. The next book builds on the last. So far I'm enjoying the brothers and the interaction with the characters around them. Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
2nd in a series. Liked the characters. Would like to read next in series.
Sean and Hank were firemen. Deanna lived in an apartment with her son which was damaged by fire. Sean and Hank decided to try to win the hearts of Deanna and Ruby.
My first Sherryl Woods. The dialogue reminds me of Nora Roberts. The tone reminds me of Jude Devereux and the story progression reminds me of LaVyrle Spencer. No wonder she keeps coming up as a read alike for stuff I read.
