This book is a collection of real life cryptid encounters with Bigfoot, Dogman, Mothman, Demons and many more, told by the members of the Mysterious Creatures Facebook group. Dive in to the world of cryptids and get ready to have your mind blown by these real life cryptid encounters. These are the Mysterious Creatures that go bump in the night.
I understand this was supposed to be experiences in their own words but it could have done with some editing. The grammar errors, spelling mistakes and lack of punctuation had me reading the same passage repeatedly to decipher what they were saying. As someone who is interested in actual cryptid sightings I find many of the stories to be unbelievable because the person couldn't even put a full sentence together. One of them was literally a single run on sentence! It definitely could be edited to make sense without changing the actual encounter. It would have gotten a much higher rating if I could have understood half of it.
I like to read stories of different people's experiences with the unexplained and paranormal. I would have given it a higher rating but the grammar was so bad it was hard to understand in some places
This is a great collection of cryptid stories from around the world. The stories are told in the voice of the witnesses, so the grammar on some tales can be a bit confusing to follow. All types of cryptid are featured here, Bigfoot, Dogman, trolls and more, encountered when least expected. There are some frightening stories here and many witnesses are fortunate to have survived. I hope more stories are published, this is a great collection.
This is another book based on people's accounts of their experiences with various types of cryptids. What I've done with this one is note which type of cryptid each story deals with. My results were this:
1. Actual cryptid not specific. 17 results. 2: Bigfoot. 10 results. 3. Werewolf: 9 results. 4. Reptilian alien: 4 results. 5. Goatman, Mothman and space aliens: 2 results. 6. The result only had one result: mermaid, portal, skinwalker, leprechaun giant dog, river troll, mimic demon, dogman, muddy monster.
Some of these were sort of difficult to figure out just what cryptid was being encountered, though. What was surprising was the number that I simply couldn't figure out what the thing was. Bigfoot high on the list is not surprising.
The Reptilian alien was sort of unexpected. It's an interesting book but a little vague in spots.
I really like to read true stories about people who have had encounters with different animals it is so intriguing and mystifying to me ! It almost makes me feel like I am in the meetings with the person that it happened to. Sometimes it makes my heart speed up a bit and I feel anxious while reading these please tell more encounters and I love to read about people that have disappeared for no reason very good reading love it.
I, for one, cannot abide reading stories without a darn comma or period when one is called for. Writers should know this. If the publisher wishes to just publish the unedited stories, I consider this lazy. Easy money. Heaven forbid a publisher should put forth the effort of making a story readable in English.
Still same stuff but I'm like reading.I'd like hear the story because people swear to him.And the man and the muffin different things exist.I've heard a lot of stories that have happened in Michigan Missouri in different places, Wisconsin, so it's always nice to read this. Can't wait to read more
This book was so disappointing. I didn’t even make it 30 pages in. Its like the author copy and pasted stories from the Facebook group and was too lazy to edit them for grammar etc. Do yourself a favor and read Tom Lyons instead.
I know it’s just copy+paste reports from the Facebook page but Pickering really needs to go through and edit some of these accounts. Not changing the story or anything, just fixing up some of the grammar.
I understand the author may not want to alter the people's words, but it sometimes gets hard to understand the meaning behind certain accounts or whose perspective is doing what...
I really enjoy being entertained by these stories but the constant phrasing of "we was" made me cringe. I also find it hard to believe that everyone in these supposedly true encounters has the same poor vocabulary.
These stories must have been published the way they were received. No punctuation, misspelling and bad grammar make these stories very difficult to enjoy.
It seemed rather short for the price...considering they're unedited reprints from Facebook posts. Not bad. Not great. Some of the stories were entertaining.
