Troy’s senior year is looking a little different than he expected. Sure, he’s slaying on the ice, but off the ice… he had no idea that dating would be so different from hooking up.
Just because Theo lets a guy touch him in the shower each Tuesday does not mean said guy can speak to him in public. Theo has his career to focus on. He doesn’t need any distractions, no matter how hot Troy is… But Theo can’t get rid of Troy that easily. Who knew hockey players could be so persistent?
I always enjoy Billie's books and this was another easy read, not my fave that I've read, but still recommended if you like feel good, grumpy/sunshine, first times, MM college romance reads.
This wasn't my favorite book by this author. Theo had a story that made you feel for him. But his attitude went a little too far for me and it turned into not really liking him much. Troy did everything in that relationship for a good portion of the book. He was so caring and so patient.
I loved Theo's aunt Steph and his brothers. Same with Troy's parents. They were a great addition to the story.
Omg I love Troy and Theo. Poor Theo the grumpy grouch with his determination to not let love or relationships into his life and Troy with his perpetual smile and need to connect. I both hate and loved the chase these do went through in this story. I love Troy for his persistence in seeing that amazing things are worth the wait and the fight. And Theo just needed to learn that not all relationships and families end in heartbreak. But I also was so sad for Troy for all the little cuts and slices he went through to get through to Theo. He was always the one to put himself out there first and repeatedly get burned. But no matter what was there to show Theo that when you love someone you show up and be there no matter what had happened. Love this story. Can’t wait for bodie.
I actually couldn’t wait to read this book. I can say it was an interesting read. I was glad when Theo finally gave into Troy because he basically kept pushing him away. When all Troy wanted was to spend time with him and get to know him. Including the sex lol of course can’t forget that lol.
It’s Troy so what do you except. Plus when I was reading Hudson and Dayton book I knew something was going with those two. Then to learn that they was already doing stuff in the miss of Dayton and Hudson getting together was very interesting.
Such a shame that this wasn't for me - I loved the first book in the series. My main problem was how juvenile the characters acted. They're supposed to be college students, but it reads like they're in high school. Also, the main characters are called Theo and Troy - too easy to confuse.
In the second book of the First Times series the author delves deeper into what happened between the campus flirt and player on and off the ice Troy Cruz and the sexy swimmer Theo Banks that turned his easy hook-up world upside down!
"When i first saw you, I fell in love with your adorable smile. You gave that smile to everyone else, except me."
Troy Cruz makes his move on a Tuesday in the showers the swimmers share with the ice hockey players, it gets steamy but only on a Tuesday..... or Wednesday.... maybe Saturday.....
Theo Banks is afraid of losing his scholarship and that means no distractions like Troy Cruz..... If only Troy accepted that.....
"Then I stalked you a little, in a loving, nice way. " "Finally, you looked my way and led me on a wild goose chase".
Troy cannot give up on the only man he ever wanted a commitment with even when said man pushes him away and eventually ghosts him....
"And eventually, you let me in."
Will Troy give up on his puffin or will he eventually win him over?
"You complete me".
I laughed with Troy's antics and cried as a result of the journey to love, trust and persevering patience they had to endure in their last year on campus!
I look forward to the sweet, innocent Bodie's journey in the final book....

Preferred this to roommate romeo, but the last 10% really let the book down! It was so rushed, the wrong name kept being used, and the epilogue flipflopped between the two guys literally every sentence so it was more confusing than anything. On the first 80% I'd definitely give 3 stars, but ugh I hated the end 😤
Troy and Theo are the perfect grumpy sunshine couple i’ve read this year.
Theo tries not to let Troy into his life but he definitely doesn’t mine him in his shower or bed but Troy wants more. He wants Theos heart and boy does he get it in the end.
This was a sweet read for anyone who wants a sports romance where the popular guy does the chasing.
Unexpected sweetness in this hot and handsy romance
Handsome hockey player meets delicious but demure diver and sparks fly in this sexy and sweet college courtship! Troy is a hockey god who loves life and sex. Theo is a quiet, reserved diver who focuses only on becoming an Olympian. They couldn't be more opposite but you know what that means. Meeting Troy in My Roommate Romeo, as Dayton's best friend, I was not expecting how sweet and romantic he was capable of being, although the romance comes after his first few steamy encounters in the showers with Theo! I couldn't believe how amazing Troy was with Theo, how kind, supportive, caring and loving he turned out to be for his little.... nope, not gonna spoil it for you by telling you Troy's nickname for Theo, but you'll love it! He came through for Theo every time, no matter what Theo threw at him and I loved him for it. We met Theo in My Roommate Romeo too as he is Hudson's best friend and his story hooked me then, what little we learned of it. He has parental issues arising from his upbringing, even though he is in a better place now, but his views on romance and relationships are skewed and he uses his diving to block everything else out. But not even the single-minded Theo can resist Troy Cruz forever when the man is just so damn perfect. Troy's parents were supportive and loving and his sister was funny, but Theo's aunt and his little brothers were also loving and great fun too. I loved seeing Hudson and Dayton, and all of these characters only made the story better. The only thing I didn't like it that I wanted more, but at least I have the enigmatic Bodie's book to look forward to, only a month away, and I should just be satisfied with that!
Another really cute read by Billie bloom. This author really knows how to pace a story, it never gets boring, it always grips you attention and keep it.
Theo is a highly promising athlete, on route to the Olympics try outs. He’s a little OCD on how he handles life, everything as to be a certain way. He really enjoys and sometimes need routine. He’s persistent and committed in all areas of his life. However he doesn’t share much of it. Even with the friends he has he doesn’t really understand how to ask and accept support.
Troy is really endearing. He’s a tornado in Theo’s life as he kind of rolls with the punches. Nothing deters Troy. And that’s something that was really cute but broke my heart a bit. Each time Theo pushed him away or told him he didn’t really care, that’s was really hard on Troy and still he put Theo first and always respected his wishes.
I really liked this story and can’t wait to know more about Bodie tho.
Theo and Troy have some serious opposites attract energy: Theo is focused, closed-off, and serious about pretty much everything in his life while Troy is a sunshiney goofball who never really seems to work too hard at anything. Being a hockey player and a good student both seem to be literally effortless for him, and while it strains plausibility, it’s hard to resent him for his charmed life because he is, himself, so charming. Watching Troy do his best to make it past Theo’s walls with barely restrained enthusiasm and plenty of sincere respect for boundaries makes for a fun read, and I liked seeing the guys work through all their challenges to find their happily ever after. There’s plenty of sweetness and heat to be found here, and it definitely makes for an enjoyable read.

The main characters make this story a good one. Troy is a college hockey player with a good family background and willing to be patient for what he wants as he tries to show Theo that he cares about him. Theo is a talented member of the swim team, but has some issues knowing whether he can count on a relationship at all since he has never believed them to be possible. Can he start to rely on someone now or will they walk away?
The characters were both wonderful, likable, realistic, and easy to cheer for. They have awesome chemistry which helps them to build that strong relationship together. Will they trust what they have and make it last? Or will they walk away and follow their own futures separately when their college time has ended?
For something so angsty, I finished this one rather quickly. I'm all for sports romance, and I was glad to get my fill of such unique sports in this one. On top of the story involving less seen sports in this type of story, I have to point out how happy I was to be reading about such a wholesome group of jocks. It was an innovative take on the character type, and I was 100% here for it! Theo and Troy made for a wonderful couple, even though Theo could be such a piece of work sometimes. I loved reading about them fighting to make it work between themselves. I was also very much of a fan of them working on never losing themselves no matter how deeply involved in the relationship. Seeing them grow as a couple and as people was the greatest treat. Bravo.
Billie Bloom and her Hockey Stars never fail to move and entertain me! I appreciate how the depth of her writing has improved over time. This time we have Troy, a Black hockey player with a great family, and Theo, the titular grumpy pants. Theo is nerdy and feels responsible for everything that went wrong in his family. He is also a star diver for the swim team, headed for the Olympics. These two pull every heartstring. I loved them both, loved the families, and loved their hot sexual relationship and love for each other. If you enjoy young men in love, this is for you! Very good romantic story 4.5 At first I didn't really understand the title, but when the character of Theo reveals himself to the reader, outwardly he can indeed seem very grumpy. The story is cute, tender, hot, romantic, and I liked its characters between hesitation and discovery. Between Troy hockey player full of sexual experiences but not relational, and Theo a diving specialist, but who although knowing his orientation, remains quite innocent, with the objective of his career, his scholarship, they are both in an unprecedented situation which is fascinating to discover. This book was absolutely fantastic, it's the second book in the series and a standalone but the first one if great to read to. It's well written with an great storyline and wonderful characters. Theo has some issues trusting someone will stay, due to his background, but from the beginning Troy works his hardest to show how much he cares and is willing to go through to be with Theo. I love these two men work together to stay with each other and how strong Troy ends up having to be. I can't wait to read the next in the series.
I wish this would have spent more time being edited. It just needed more and it was released so quickly after the first book. Maybe the release should have been delayed until issues were fixed. I thought Troy was likeable but then also just kind of a pushover for Theo without really getting anything out of the relationship at the beginning. Theo does have good moments and I think after he has a heart to heart with a friend, he is a lot more likeable. The overall plot was fine but I just didn't click with this one as much as other books I've read by the author.
Never rush the end of school. Troy, is having great success, he enjoyed the game his first three years of school. He is slaying it on the ice! He is hoping to go pro after he graduates. Nerdy Theo is enjoying his own success in school. They make an interesting pair and go through some things once they talk and start their relationship. The guys are so likeable, you don't want to put the book down until you find out how they end. Great story, well done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Troy and Theo are so cute, completely unexpected, Troy is the big shot college hockey player and Theo is the smaller diver on the college swim team. This is probably the cutest grumpy/sunshine I’ve read on a long while. It’s unexpected that the smaller athlete is the grumpy one but in an adorable way.
I enjoyed reading this book and series as well, I like the overlap with Dayton and Hudson for the new POV on their relationship. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 while the story was good and well written, there just wasn’t enough heat for me.
This was a really great read and one of my February favourites. It is a relatively low angst book but there was pining and I LOVED it. Opposites attract, grumpy/sunshine, and jock/jock. Troy is head over heels for Theo, but Theo's abandonment issues hold him back. I liked that Troy didn't give up, he kept pursuing Theo and learned about boundaries along the way. Poor Theo. His mum really did a number on him but I love how he learned to trust in Troy. This whole book is hot, funny, caring, and great. I will also never look at Tuesday's the same way 😁 All of the side characters are wonderful and really enrich the story. I've already reread Mr Grumpy Pants. It is such a great book!
This book is cute af, the diver has a hard past and have a little hang up on letting people in. Will the hockey player be persuasive enough to have a chance with his crush?
I remove one star because I love it less than the first.
**Note the last chapter should be rectified, the pov change from one mc to the other, I think.... cause if I'm not misunderstanding the diver is in the nhl.... english is my 2nd language so I may have be wrong too .
I thought that this was a sweet yet hot book. Theo and Troy were funny and sweet together. Their banter and tease had me laughing so hard while the serious parts were touching, moving and showed how perfect these two were for each other. I loved this book and I can't wait for Bodie's book next! I would highly recommend this book and Billie as a must read author!

What a fantastic, sweet, swoon worthy story! Troy and Theo are just so sweet and amazing! I love how Troy never gave up and stayed strong! My heart went out to Troy! This was a very touching story but it had plenty of funny banter also which I loved. Absolutely adored this story and can’t wait for the next one! Very enjoyable and I highly recommend!. Such a sweet story with the grumpy Theo hopelessly pursued by sunshiny Troy and both young men managing their HEA. Both are athletes and students with goals and dreams but with different outlooks. Happily Troy manages to kiss down Theo’s walls so that they might begin to be boyfriends and move on but it takes a bit of pushing. Definitely an awesome opposites attract story. Theo and Troy were a golden MC couple. Absolutely adorable together.
Theo is academically driven. In school on a scholarship, he refuses to allow outside distractions. Of course, he hasn't met the determined Troy. Having never met a guy like Theo, Troy was determined to get the man who captured his thoughts and heart. Troy was just the right fit for the needs of Theo. For one another.

I was (not so patiently) waiting for Billie’s next book, and it did NOT disappoint!
Theo is a sassy diver who gives hockey star Troy a mixture of hot encounters and cold shoulders. When Theo finally gives in, he realizes Troy is the calm, steady rock he needs in order to change his view on relationships.
