Grace Littleton isn’t a fan of dinner parties. Too much talking, socializing, and pressure for her taste. She’d much rather be at home with her pup and a good book. But a local woman insists that Grace attends. The night gets off to a bad start when one guest doesn’t show up for appetizers… and things go from bad to worse when a dead body’s discovered!
While a thunderstorm rages outside, Grace and her pit bull Lucky lock the doors and take the case. There’s magic and mischief to be sorted through, and plenty of clues to follow. Family secrets, spells gone wrong, and an out-of-control broom make for an unforgettable evening.
A small dinner party turns into much more than just an evening of social interactions for Grace, Ben and Lucky as the father of her host, Lucas Wormwood, is found dead. Was it murder or something else. This one had a lovely twist to it as Grace has been framed for the crime of murder. Enjoyable and intense as the tension heats up as Grace tries to prove her innocence.
Breathtaking! The mix of lightheartedness, edge-of-my-seat-ness, humor and mystery had me turning those pages like I was possessed. An out-of-control broom! How funny, I have to admit to snorting with laughter a few times. So well-written, so good! The case is a little bit different in the sense that it was a locked room mystery. The twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat! Very clever!
Amorette is one of my favorite authors. She is talented and gifted. And yes, this book is very magical, Anderson is able to take the reader and transport them to a whole new world of magic. In this novel there was a real balance of darkness and realm of fantasy with lightness and humor. Anderson brought the characters to life, as she penned this amazing story and created her characters. I was entranced by this story. The writing was fast-paced. This book is a real page-turner. You won’t want to put it down, so clear your schedule, get comfortable and settle in for a treat. I received a copy of this novel through BookFunnel. This is an honest review, and my own opinions.
This is the eigth installment in the Midlife Medicine series. Grace Littleton has been invited to a dinner party at Lucas and Annabelle Wormwood's home to solve a conflict between George, Lucas' father, and Marion Starr. They are both in the Riverbend Coven and cannot seem to agree on where the coven's energies should go. George is found dead in his upstairs bedroom with a plate of food beside him with a mysterious substance sprinkled on it. Jane is the town sleuth and must investigate without the doctor's help due to the flooding of the main road. No one has entered or exited the house since the party started so someone is not telling the truth about George's death. It looks like Grace is being framed. Cline wanted to be the town sleuth but Grace was chosen instead so Cline begins his own investigation. The story has a runaway broom which made me chuckle. The book is definitely a page-turner, one you must read. We get to learn more about Oliver, Grace's son, while he visits. We get to meet Oliver's girlfriend, Jane. I enjoy visiting with Grace, her boyfriend, Ben, and their dogs, Lucky and Sadie. I received an advance copy of this book and also purchased it. This is my honest opinion.
Grace is invited to a neighbor's home for a small dinner party when a man is found dead inside his bedroom of his son and daughter-in-law's home. On the table next to him is a plate filled with food including one of Ben's tarts. The tart has a bite removed and there is a strange-looking substance sprinkled on top.
Grace must investigate without help from Doc Ham when a rainstorm floods the roads and traps them there with the killer. Evidence is found pointing to Grace as the killer so someone else takes control of the investigation....the man who had want Grace's job before she was lured to Covenstead. Grace, with the help of Ben and Lucky, continues to look for clues, too.
Will they be able to figure out this "who done it" before someone else is killed? Read this most recent addition to the series. With all of the elements of a classic "who dun it", you won't want to miss it.
Another great book in this series. Read it in one afternoon! This is a classic closed room/house mystery. One of the guests is a murderer - it's up to Grace to solve this one in spite of opposition from one or more of the other guests. Really well-done mystery!

Attacking broom and other distractions This book has a lock down due to weather. Grace and several other people are invited to a dinner party. A man dies and the evidence points to Grace. There are a lot of twists and turns in this story as Grace tries to solve the mystery and clear her name. Her boyfriend Ben and her son stand by her and know that she is not guilty. There are many distractions vying for her time so Grace has to work at staying focused on the case.
The story flows along smoothly. Each character has arc. Every new person is well developed.
I recommend this book to those that enjoy a cozy paranormal mystery with a happy ending. I received an ARC copy of this book. This is my voluntary, honest, and completely personal review.
Grace and her dog Lucky are invited to a diner with some friends including her son Oliver and his girlfriend Jane. The evening turns bad when a violent storm rages and George the elderly stubborn and grumpy father of the hosts Lucas and Anabelle is discovered dead. Grace herself becomes a major suspect and she spends the stormy weather and visitors all being involved in this strange murder. Or was it? Yet another great mystery for Grace to untangle. Love these stories - love the town and their characters. Ready now for the next story. YOU must read these .....just great. Highly recommend.
This was another fun chapter in the Midlife Medicine series. I so enjoy following Grace as she solves mysteries while still wanting to use her nursing experience. In this book, Grace found herself a suspect in a man's death and another wanna be Sleuth stepped in to question her every step of the way. The story sort of had everyone captive in one place which reminded me of Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None". Adding Grace's son to the mix and her overhearing his girlfriend's conversation, made this quite a page turner. Really this is closer to a 5 star than a 4 star rating. Totally digging this series so much!!
Wow.....what an interesting and exciting plot. You're invited to a dinner party to get two coven members to agree on saving the trees, but you end up with a murder and a raging storm and no one can leave.....including the murderer. Grace, Ben, and Lucky will have to figure out who done it. And Grace overheard a phone conversation that has her worried about her son's future plans. Certainly alot on Grace's plate. Was a page turner for me... Ms Anderson is really growing as a cozy murder mysteries author.
Wow, what a night! This story takes place all in one day. However, it's a long crazy one with twists and turns that I didn't see coming. The ending totally shocked me as well! And I'm so happy we got to meet Jane finally as well this novel and learned a little more about Oliver. I really enjoyed that part, I've been looking forward to it for quite awhile now. Anyway, it's a great book and I highly recommend it!!
The MC deals with a case involving the classic mystery trope where a death occurs in an isolated setting during a dinner party. The plot is driven by and the manner of death obscured by the self-centered behavior of many of the guests. After the MC uncovers the truth, she also makes peace with resentment of others in her past and present. This was an exceptionally interesting psychological study of behavior wrapped up inside the cozy format.
I read this book in one sitting it's that good. The characters are well written and as this is book for 8 we know a few of them quite well now. Imagine how you'd feel though, you go to dinner and then there's a dead body. What a great who dunnit and a real page turner 😍😍 I'd definitely recommend this book, well this whole series so far 💕 💕
Another fun. Read about Grace, Ben, and others in the town of Covenstead. This time an elderly man dies, and poison is suspected. The storm is pouring, so no one can leave. Another resident seems determined to prove Grace's guilt. The solution is delightfully surprising. And an engagement happens!
Absolutely my favorite book that Amorette Anderson has written. I just love this entire series and the characters just jump right off the pages and into my imagination seamlessly. This case ends up ultimately requiring some "sleuthing" without Doc Ham, but it does get solved with several of those at this dinner party coming under suspicion. Grace excels in this one with the help of Ben (as both a listener and just supporting Grace). An added feature in this story is Grace's son, Oliver, and his girlfriend have arrived for a visit! See how they fit into this little community his mom where his mom is now living. Lots of twists and turns and the fast pace makes this book close to impossible to put down once you start reading. If you like paranormal cozy mystery, do yourself a favor and start reading any of the books by this author. You won't regret it!
I received an ARC copy of this book, this is my voluntary and honest review with my own personal opinions.
This book was quite entertaining with lots of plot twists. The obvious answer is not always the correct answer. Oliver's fiance is introduced and more Covenstead secrets are revealed. I am excited to see what happens next
Grace really has her hands full in this book. Grace not only tries to help an acquaintance out with a family situation but she ends up trying to solve a murder at a dinner party that she didn't want to attend in the first place. Then the weather doesn't co-operate and all the people that were invited to the dinner party are now stuck there for the night and lo and behold we discovered that there has been a murder. Grace has more than she thinks she can handle this time but I thought it was a really great twist to the book with it containing a mystery within a mystery. The series just keeps getting better and better with every book. I just can't wait to find out what happens in the next one because this one had me spellbound.
The latest book in the series finds Grace accepting an invitation to dinner to try and resolve a dispute between two people. However, one person is found dead and while Grace is looking into the matter she finds herself being accused of being the murderer! To add to the evening she overhears her son’s girlfriend on the phone and it sounds like she is on the verge of breaking up with her son when he has told her he wants to marry the girl!
Grace has her hands full for sure this evening and adding to the mix is an enchanted broom that is out of control and attacking the dinner guests and making a real mess of the place!
This is a cozy mystery I would recommend for all who enjoy a well written story with humor and suspense as different suspects are accused of this murder but the question remains of what actually happened!
Amorette’s series is a fun one as Grace is a character we can all relate to as someone in middle age accepts a job not knowing that the place she is to work is a town full of witches! They are the good kind for the most part but murders do take place there and it is Grace’s job besides being a nurse to solve those cases!
You can read these books out of sequence if you like but it’s better to just start at the beginning and enjoy the experience! Amorette has other series’s available that will be ideal for light reading that I know you’ll enjoy as well, so why not grab one of her books and join her many fans who have loved and enjoyed her books! You’ll be glad you did!
Wow! What an ego that guy had. How sad Cline was willing to lie and manipulate That rather than just tell the truth from the beginning. Just because of his ego was “spanked” because he wanted that job? That he wasn’t asked to do? When Grace put the clues together, And figured out what had really happened. He really did get his ego “spanked”. I guess it was enlightening that Grace had to get a look, at how the person being accused of something, they didn’t do. That will make you think, right? And Marion coming to her senses, realizing the more you give, the more you get back. So glad for everyone that Grace was able to find it in her heart to forgive. She should be a better investigator, from that point of view.
BANDAGES AND BROOMS is the eighth installment in the Midlife Medicine series by Amorette Anderson. Get ready for some fun and danger in this murder mystery and different type of dinner party in this fun witchy cozy mystery.
Grace is invited to dinner to help two people come to terms with their conflict. Grace doesn't want to go as her son Oliver and his girlfriend are visiting from France, but she is a Peace Keeper. Just as she arrives for dinner a huge storm rolls in and closes roads and trapping everyone inside. Before long a body is found and Grace has a murder to solve. The more clues she finds the more contradictions come to light. It's not long before almost everyone is a suspect with clues leading to them. Even Grace is not exempt and finds herself in the hot seat.
Miss Anderson's stories always have those words of wisdom in them, such as: When we give to others, the very act of giving nourishes the giver.
I did receive an advance readers copy from the author and the above is my freely given and honest review.
