I wish this story were published and presented as a novel vs. a series of 100-page novellas that end with barely whispered happy-for-nows.
I read the blurb for the third installment in the series, Moment of Clarity, and that one seems to contain yet more drama, with no HEA in sight.
Collin and Tanner are sharing an attic bedroom in a big house on Fire Island for the summer. Collin, still estranged from his family, is not comfortable being out and jealous of the women who throw themselves at Tanner.
The men's physical relationship moves to the next level, and there is plenty of delicious steam. I liked the obvious sexual chemistry and connection between the MCs.
What's less successful is the parade of secondary characters winding through the beach house. I could have especially done without Maggie or Dex. I also don't really like Tanner's ex-fuck buddy Wendy and don't give a shit about her or the angst surrounding her relationship with Dex, the trustfund douchebag.
I will never get over the fact that Tanner used to screw Wendy three feet away from Collin, on whom he had a crush. Who the hell does that?
I really think Tanner's POV is necessary here, since Collin isn't a reliable or observant narrator.
Warning: There's gray-area cheating here, preceded by a Big Misunderstanding.

Despite these small annoyances, I found Moment of Truth to be a well-written, well-paced, mostly enjoyable read, and I'll most likely continue with the series.

I liked this one a lot.
The trick with this pair is that the do things other couples don't. In the first book Tanner suggests Collin should to see if he wants to try something. In this novel, Collin decides to and Tanner catches him doing so and finishes the task. I thought that moment was very funny and made me laugh. In fact, these two make me laugh because they have a chemistry not only in the sexual sphere, but in the emotional and friendship spheres, too. I believe they truly fit and make each other happy.
Collin and Tanner move to Fire Island during the summer to enjoy the beach together in a big size bed all for themselves and taste the freedom of being together as a couple amongst friends. Also, after Collin's family gave their back to him, it's good to save as much money as he can for the following year at college. The people is welcoming and don't even bat an eye when the kiss and hug, so it's a new experience for Collin, who has always lived in the closet. And it's also a honeymoon for both.
But something spoils it. A little or too much, I'm not sure. There is a Big Misunderstanding, so I got upset something so stupid and cliché could happen due to that need to give extra drama. It can almost be interpreted as an insult to the reader's intelligence. That an innocent scene can drive people apart and make them give up something they believed on shatters the image of a couple that can face everything that is thrown at them. Life is hard and they are just beginning their relationship, they are so young and new to each other but they already have doubts and suspicions about the other person's loyalty and fidelity. And that doesn't speak highly of them.
On the other hand, Collin has been living in a very restricted environment and he may follow wrong decisions out of insecurities and fear. Tanner is bi and that doesn't play at his favor, meaning that his partner will always wonder is he or she is enough, if he is missing the other sex's attributes. It's unfair but I liked how that conflict is portrayed here, and how hurt was Tanner due to Collin's lack of trust in him. Some this dispute can be kind of "necessary" to make them move forward and build something more solid and resilient.
All in all, I came to the conclusion that, yes, it very was frustrating some immature reactions were included in the story but it also worked. Sort of. I know that shattering the illusion of them being a strong couple, a "we against the world" unison, is cruel. However, after those shameful moments I was really anxious with the possibility of Collin and Tanner not being an "us" anymore.
The other problem our two MC have to face is the drama-llama of their friend Wendy. And maybe I sound like a bitch here but God, she deserves it. Aren't her boyfriend Dex and herself playing an "open relationship" since their very beginning? How come now she gets angry when she discovers Dex ? Didn't she used to do the same with Tanner? And if she doesn't like to share, why the hell she doesn't break up with such a loser who will never treat her as a lady? If she wants flowers and hearts, she should act accordingly. These childish behaviors drove me mad.

This was another quick, enjoyable read. Collin and Tanner are growing closer and spending the summer working and living together on Fire Island.
A whole slew of secondary characters were introduced...some were fun and others seemed to enjoy having the drama llama around as a pet.
Collin's insecurities bubble over in this book and cause him to make the wrong assumption, which in turn leads to a dumbass mistake on his part. Though I'm glad the issue was resolved quickly.
While I did enjoy the book, being solely in Collin's head and reliving the insecurities, mistakes, and drama of kids in their early 20's had me repeating one thing over and over again...
I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store for Collin and Tanner now that Collin is getting more comfortable in his skin (and his relationship with Tanner) and they're heading back to school for their senior year.

Since the books in this series are so short, I decided to plow through them, and although this one was less porn-centric than the first, it still had a decent amount. There was much more story to this one though and it was mostly about Collin's insecurities. He is still fighting a lifetime of brainwashing and it's taking time for him to feel comfortable being gay. Tanner seems to be mostly understanding about it, but I don't think he completely understands what it's like to have the upbring Collin did.
There's lots of drama internally and externally (with them and with other people.) At the end though, when there seems to be no mention about what Tanner did or any kind of explanation as to what was going on. It's all about what Collin did and how Tanner felt about that. That irked me to no end. I really needed some resolution about that.

This is the 2nd part of a novella series. It's best to read them in order.
4.5 stars for this contemporary M/M romance
Collin and Tanner are two college roommates who recently began a gay relationship. They had been friends long before becoming lovers, but Collin was closeted and Tanner is bisexual. Collin came out to his mother, a devout Catholic, who disowned him. He is now staying in a house with Tanner and several others on Fire island to work and earn money for his college as all funds have been cut.
Collin has never been out. Being on Fire island, which is very gay-friendly, is a startling experience for him. He has a lot of fear regarding encountering homophobia, and spends his summer taking baby-steps with Tanner. Tanner has collected quite a harem of women who fawn all over him, one who continually pops over to their rental house to mooch a meal with the object of her obsession. It frustrates Collin, as he fears Tanner may swing back to the ladies--leaving Collin isolated and alone. Plus, Collin's crazy for Tanner:
Thing is, all of this is so new for Collin. He's never had a relationship, and he's now with Tanner but they are both being hit on by women. Plus, Collin's having problems with a housemate who has serious boundary issues--and he's dealing with more fall out from his family's ostracism. He makes a friend at his job, Jason, who has also been cut off. The summer winds on with some serious housemate issues, but Collin only has eyes for Tanner, and who is chasing him.
I think we all know his goes pear-shaped. For a bit, anyhow. As in the first book, the name is prescient. There is a moment of truth, and this time it happens on a beach at sunrise.
Collin tells this tale, and we have a close-up look at his self-consciousness and trust issues. He's a good guy who acts too impulsively at times. I wasn't happy with his inability to discuss his feelings. I want to kiss Tanner for being the WAY bigger man, here. Though, reading the blurb for book three, I'm not sure if I should touch up my lipgloss just yet.
I'm gonna call this a HFN, with realistic angst and thrilling smexytimes. Collin is definitely more secure in his sexuality on Fire Island, but both he and Tanner acknowledge the very real possibility that returning to college in the fall will also mean returning to the closet.

I was really impressed with book one, and book two is even better. This series is about two young men starting out a relationship in college. Book one was all about sneaky discovery. Book two follows them as they navigate the ups and downs, the awkward moments and the ohmigod revelations.
I'm crazy about these boys. They are both super sweet and so green. The reader gets to figure things out with them as they go. I'm not a gay man so I don't have first hand knowledge, but to me as a reader, it feels so honest. Their reactions, hesitancies and experimentations feel so real. I 'went there' with Collin and Tanner. And it made me über jealous at times. *wink*
At the end of book one, a huge milestone is met. It's the same with two. They came so far and conquered so many fears. I'm eager to see where they're heading (waiting impatiently for the next book).
My overall impression is that it was romantic and sexy and hell. I wanted to give out a few backhands to some of the cast, but I loved it, and I firmly recommend to the M/M lovers.

This is the first time that Collin and Tanner are out in public after Collin has come out to everyone. Now new challenges face these men such as jealousy as it rears its ugly head, Now they must face these demons if they are to survive in the real world as boyfriends.
This is the second book in the Moment of Time series. They decide to move to Fire Island with a very popular gay community where Collin can feel safe with his new status of "out". They are now working at the restaurant Tanner previously has been employed at. Collin needs a huge break from reality and being estranged from his family this is the perfect time. Collin is slowly getting closer to Tanners friends, this world is new for him and he has to take baby steps. Collin is finding it hard not to be jealous as Tanner's ex-boyfriend is not making it very easy with his aggressive flirtation and then seeing Tanner in an embrace with Wendy. After seeing this he makes a rash decision that just might be too damaging for the relationship to survive.
I am loving this series very much and book 2 was even more thrilling if that was even possible. It was so sweet and beautiful to see the amazing connection that these boys share. I love how the author wrote about the feelings that Collin was having with coming out as this is a very difficult time for some gay men. The author told it so realistically and it was so spot on. The very real feelings and jealousy that face Collin was some of the best writing that I have had the pleasure to read. The author writes in such a way that you truly feel that you know or once knew these men.
I enjoyed the sub-characters even though at times it was difficult to read when you see the angst that Collin went through. This is some brilliant writing and the pages flow so well together. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I highly recommend this book...Moment of Truth and I also recommend you read Moment of Impact. You won't be disappointed in this beautiful series.

This was a nice continuation of book one. Not as earth shattering as the first, but that's sorta always the case for me with sequels and the initial new relationship stuff has worn off some, since that's what I find most emotional. But they were sweet, and a few super smexy scenes including their first full on penetration.
But I found the climax a little aggravating. We all felt it coming but I still couldn't help but roll my eyes at Collin's idiocy. It happened really fast, really out of nowhere, and then was resolved quickly right as the book ends. So I didn't love that, and didn't feel it was necessary, but I can appreciate that the author wanted them to have to deal with some typical relationship foils.
I also got really annoyed with Maggie, but as a person and as a character (typical slutty straight girl trying to 'turn' gay boys - kinda insulting to us all). And unfortunately Wendy started to turn on me as well. She was such a great female character in book 1 that I was really disappointed that she doesn't really live up to that in this book
The narration was still good, and this is definitely a series that I will enjoy continuing on audio. He doesn't do crazy voices or intonations or anything, and that's totally fine. There were a few instances when I wasn't sure if it was Collin or Tanner talking, but mostly it wasn't an issue.
This series is novella length so be warned, and you probably want to be prepared with all three of Tanner and Collin's books if you want your HEA. They both so far have been light with one piece of drama thrown in to keep you on your toes, and a pretty solid HFN. Onto book 3, although honestly I really wanna skip to book 4 now that we've met Jason!!!

Well, thank fuck this was only 100 pages!!!
Gawd, I hate drunk youngsters!!! In a split second they're able to fuck up their lives!!
Collin and Tanner are spending the summer at Fire Island, waiting tables.
They can finally act like real boyfriends and their physical relationship moves to the next level.
That was great, they were great!!
They are living at a beach house with a whole bunch of people, who are stupid and acting stupid
Maggie and Dex..... uggghhhh
The "big understanding" was short, but ruined the story for me!!
"I'm not like your family, Collin. I don't want to take things on faith or assume anything.You need to tell me what you're feeling.
Not just now - all the time. I don't want to guess and find out later I was totally off base."

In Moment of Truth we meet Collin and Tanner three months after the beginning of their relationship. They are going to spend the summer in Fire Island working in a restaurant and on their relationship too. In fact this is the first time they’ll be together in front of other people. No one know they are a couple apart from Collin’s mum (remember the disaster at the hospital?) and Tanner’s parents which are really great. Collin is still afraid of not being accepted, but he’s tired of trying to forget who he really is and pretending he’s straight. Now he has Tanner and it’s time to start fighting for his love openly.
“The date.”
“That was the best day of my life.”
“Why?” I needed to know why he thought it was so important.
He pushed my hair back, away from my face, and held it there with both hands. “Because that’s the day that you and I became us.”
I’m sure my heart was actually still in my chest, but it felt like it was in my stomach, in my throat, ready to burst out of me altogether.
I loved this second book, not as much as the first one cause I found it a little less emotional. Nonetheless I felt Moment of Truth so realistic, in the MCs’ insecurities about each other and most of all in Collin, who is struggling with his fears and he’s finally able to tell Tanner his feelings.

Another well written, sweet book, I’m so waiting for the last one. Most of all I’m curious about the possibility of developing related stories with MCs some of the second characters of Moment of Truth in it. I’d really like it cause I feel a couple of these guys totally deserve to be known better.
I love this series and these guys but as I already said in the Moment of Impact review, I’m still not sure if the choice of publish three separates novellas is the right one. I hope to have a final opinion at the end of the series. So this is the reason I still can’t give it more than 4 stars.

In Moment of Truth we meet Collin and Tanner three months after the beginning of their relationship. They are going to spend the summer in Fire Island working in a restaurant and on their relationship too. In fact this is the first time they’ll be together in front of other people. No one know they are a couple apart from Collin’s mum (remember the disaster at the hospital?) and Tanner’s parents which are really great. Collin is still afraid of not being accepted, but he’s tired of trying to forget who he really is and pretending he’s straight. Now he has Tanner and it’s time to start fighting for his love openly.
“The date.”
“That was the best day of my life.”
“Why?” I needed to know why he thought it was so important.
He pushed my hair back, away from my face, and held it there with both hands. “Because that’s the day that you and I became us.”
I’m sure my heart was actually still in my chest, but it felt like it was in my stomach, in my throat, ready to burst out of me altogether.
I loved this second book, not as much as the first one cause I found it a little less emotional. Nonetheless I felt Moment of Truth so realistic, in the MCs’ insecurities about each other and most of all in Collin, who is struggling with his fears and he’s finally able to tell Tanner his feelings.

This story picks up where Moment of Impact leaves off as Collin joins Tanner for a good summer job, complete with beach house living on Fire Island. When they arrive, Collin is disappointed to learn that Tanner is being transferred to the bar business owned by the same woman who owns the restaurant where Collin will be assigned. Collin is still not 21 so he can’t even hope to work with his boyfriend; all he can do is observe from a distance as some of the female summer crowd continually hit on Tanner—especially a hot little number named Amy.
Most of the story takes place at various locations around the island and involves Tanner and Collin having sex. There are a few times when they aren’t having sex, but while listening to the audio, I felt as if I was perpetually eavesdropping on their private time. Things run smooth until the last half hour of the book when jealousy rears its ugly head, and the guys have a major falling out. To be honest, I found it quite trite and totally expected, so it didn’t feel like anything more than self-inflicted unnecessary drama.
The narrator (Robert Nieman) was good in that he gave the MCs young voices, but on the other hand, it was difficult to differentiate between the two. Overall, the narration didn’t add or detract from the story, but to be honest, if I had the e-book, I may have skipped some of the sex scenes. It pretty quickly became boring to listen to the repetitive action.
Those who enjoyed Moment of Impact will likely enjoy this as well as it continues the story of the couple who first fell in love as college roommates. I understand there is a third book that will pick up where this leaves off, so it should definitely be read for those who plan to complete the series.

The second instalment of the series sees Collin & Tanner on Fire Island where the insecurities of a new relationship come into play with temptation everywhere!
Having recently reread Fifty Shades to try to work out why I hated it, all my negative issues with that book are some of the reasons why I love Karen's writing. Collins voice feels genuine & real. The emotions & relationship of Collin & Tanner could be a that of any couple. They are relatable & extremely likeable. My only complaint is that the books aren't long enough!

Book 2 picks up with the college year coming to a close and summer vacation starting. Collin will spend the summer working on Fire Island waiting on tables at a restaurant with Tanner. When Collin and Tanner arrive at their summer job, their boss has made a last minute change as Tanner's job has changed to bartending at a nearby nightclub. They share a house with several other people including Wendy from book one, who's only there on weekends to visit her boyfriend Dex, who is also a housemate. Oh, yes complications arise as new friendships are made and jealousy rears its ugly head. Who didn't see that coming from a mile away?
While we don't get the newness and excitement of first love like in book 1, I still liked the tension that simmered through most of this book and for that nice touch of drama I'm rating this 4 stars.

True rating 2.5 stars JUST because of the sex scenes, otherwise my rating would be 1 star!! I couldn’t round up to 3 stars because the ending annoyed me enough where LIKING this isn’t possible!! The sex scenes WERE spectacular though :-)!!
My updates are ongoing as I’m reading the bundle!! The ending for this one ruined the novella for me :-/!! I do feel like things are definitely salvagaeable though, so I’m going to keep going!! I hope the 3rd novella is way better and much more similar to novella #1!!

Moment of Truth is book 2 in Karen Stivali's Moment in Time series. The opening of Moment of Truth is a continuation from book 1, Moment of Impact. As such, I highly recommend reading the books in order. If you have not read book 1, here is a comparison to quickly sum up the differences between the main characters:
Collin
The boys stay in a beach house with other couples and singles. These secondary characters didn't really add anything to the story to me with the exception of Maggie. I loved this little minx. She was a trouble maker with a capital T.
Maggie is young and cunning. She is also Tanner's father's ex girlfriend and someone who has propositioned Tanner for sex in the past, and recently hit on Collin. In addition, she brings a bit of drama to the story. I wouldn't mind seeing more of her in the next installment along with Tanner's other family members (maybe parents).
I adored Moment of Impact and felt this book lacked in storyline. Don't get me wrong, this is an enjoyable read I was just expecting something different. I guess part of me was fustrated that Collin was still so scared to openly be who is and also express himself. I think Moment of Truth would have benefited written with dual perspectives. Despite this, I love how this author gives the reader responsive moments in each book literally and figuratively that tie-in with the title of each book. Additionally, the sex is hot and I enjoyed it ten times more this time around.
There are many moments of truths in this book and not all of them have to do with Tanner and Collin. Every reader will decipher a moment of truth for themselves. For me, the ultimate moment of truth was the beach scene.

Moment of Truth picks up a few months after Moment of Impact. Collin and Tanner are spending their summer on Fire Island in a house being rented out to several others. After months of keeping their relationship a secret at school, they finally experience a taste of what it's like to be out in a place that's gay-friendly and surrounded by people who support them. However, Collin is still dealing with the aftermath of being disowned by his mother and estranged from his brothers. And on top of that he has to deal with his own growing jealousy towards all the girls who are showing interest in Tanner.
The story is told strictly from Collin's POV, and I enjoy his voice a lot. He's self deprecating and doubts himself a lot, but his feelings for Tanner are so earnest and he tries so hard to be the boyfriend Tanner deserves. He's insecure about being outed but he still does his best not to pull away when Tanner touches or kisses him in public (which is a big step from where he was in the first story). He's also learning to be more body positive and comfortable in his skin. I find him to be a very enjoyable, if not wholly reliable, narrator. And I really enjoy seeing how he's grown in this book from the first. Nothing is an instant fix, he's still dealing with his insecurities and jealousies but he's definitely making progress.
Tanner remains a very loving and patient boyfriend. He's constantly encouraging Collin to come out of his shell. He's more confident and sure himself than Collin (at least from Collin's point of view) but he never tries to push for more than Collin is willing to give, something that I really appreciate about his character. I also really enjoyed how Tanner called Collin out about his jealousy/insecurity that Tanner will leave him for a girl because he's bisexual.
Something else I really enjoyed about this book is the variety of settings; their house, Dorothy's, the beach, etc. It felt at times that the first book suffered from claustrophobia simply because so much of it took place in their dorm room, something that isn't a problem in this one. I liked reading about Collin's first club experiences especially. He really got to loosen up in those scenes. The addition of new side characters is a bit of a mixed bag, ranging from Maggie and Dex (who I don't care for) to Jason and Bryan who I think are really decent guys who I wouldn't mind reading more about.
And, of course, Collin and Tanner's relationship remains as steamy in this book as it did in the first. These two, troubles aside, find it hard to keep their hands off each other and each sex scene was just different and inventive enough to keep my attention without it feeling repetitive.

All in all, the realtionship between him and his whole family is strained and Collin suffers a lot under their behaviour. But he finds a friend at work, Jason, who was ... nice ... but ...
Even the relationship between Collin and Tanner isn't without struggle. Still only a few people know about them and Collin is uncomfortable with behaving outgoing on that matter, because he isn't used to it. But by seeing other people that are open about their feelings, he slowly crawls out of his shell and becomes more adventurous. But he also has to deal with jealousy, only learning when it's almost to late, that he just has to have trust.
In the book, we learn more about both Tanner and Collin, about Collin's cooking talent and his stronger side and about Tanner's thoughtfulness. But their love for each other is the most present, you can see it in almost every interaction. (Oh, and their sex scenes are really hot and also sooo sweet, Collin's just adorable <3)
I think it was a great book, better even than the first and I would recommend it to anyone who likes a cute story, about people that have to fight real problems in their realtionship, but also in their surroundings, but who still always stay true to themselves and overcome their difficulties together.
I can't wait for the next one!

Just when Collin and Tanner seem to be heading in the right direction, Collin's jealousy and Tanner's tendency to comfort others takes their burgeoning relationship down a rocky road. When a summer spent away from familial and peer pressures turns from heaven to hell, their commitment to each other is put to the test in this sweet and sensual, yet heartbreaking at times, tale. Along with seeing a maturing and compelling Collin and Tanner we're also introduced to a cast of secondary characters, among them is friend Wendy from the first book, whose love lives add to the drama.
From start to finish this story had a nice flow that captivated me and held me in it's sweetly romantic embrace. Collin and Tanner are so cute together as they learn what it's like to have a mature and committed relationship. They talk through things and experiment together with Collin taking the lead more often than in the past. Tanner's still the more supportive one, constantly worried that things might be too much for Collin when it comes to coming out at school, but for this one summer they're trying to leave those worries behind. Collin's self-doubts and jealousy over Tanner's experience, good looks, and bisexuality leave him questioning their commitment though and making a poor choice one evening that forces them to fully admit their feelings. It's a true test of their commitment that left me worried for their future.
This was a satisfying sequel to the previously emotional coming out of Collin to himself and others. I enjoyed the give and take of these two young men as their relationship goes to more mature levels. The sexual interludes get more intense as they become more comfortable with each other with these scenes nicely spaced throughout the story. They're a compelling couple with feelings and actions that are believable and that put readers through the emotional wringer along with them. The cast of secondary characters are colorful and engaging and have their own drama that affects Collin and Tanner too, putting their relationship further in jeopardy. All in all this was a delightful read that has me greatly anticipating the next installment to see how Collin and Tanner have weathered the emotional storm battering them from the outside world.

This is the second story for Collin and Tanner, first introduced in Moment of Impact (which ended on a happy note and can be read as a standalone). Summer has come and Tanner has invited Collin to come with him to Fire Island, a resort area, to work for the summer. It's a different place than Collin has ever been before, one where being gay isn't a big deal and they are able to spend time together while earning money for the next year of college. But being out of the closet still isn't that easy for Collin, and Tanner's bisexuality is also worrisome to him, with the number of attractive girls who see Tanner as the prize they want too. Will the summer bring them closer together or tear them apart?
I loved this story! Even if you haven't read the first part of their story, it would be easy to dive right into this one as it's easy to get right into the story as Collin and Tanner start their summer together. Overall, I found this very entertaining, lighthearted and sexy with a good dose of sweet romance too. 5 stars.

I thought all of their emotional experiences were really realistic and although the story is told only from Collin's point of view, Tanner's thoughts are equally represented. He's the stronger one in their couple, secure in his feelings for Collin. It's Collin who is dealing with showing his feelings for Tanner while still being unsure of how to behave publicly. Overall, I found this very entertaining, lighthearted and sexy with a good dose of sweet romance too. 5 stars.

**Reviewer's note: This is the second book in Karen Stivali's Moments in Time series. These are novellas about two young men coming of age and coming out of the closet. In this book as well as the first their relationship is "in progress" and neither book ends in a cliffhanger and both end in what I would call a HFN ending. I almost didn't read the first book because of this set-up but I loved is and so I'm continuing on.
Once again told from Collin's point of view Moment of Truth follows Collin and Tanner as they spend the summer working and sharing a house with friends on gay-friendly Fire Island. After they are pretty much forced to come out following an auto accident that took place in the last book in this book we learn that Collin has pretty much been disowned by his family and Tanner's family has welcomed them both.
After hiding their relationship at their very conservative school being able to be out and free is a bit of a shock to Collin's system yet the ever patient Tanner is right there to help him through. But with them both working long hours, a steady stream of men and women hitting on them both, and Collin's insecurities about Tanner's need for more than he can offer as he doesn't have all the parts, they experience the first true test to their young relationship as well as learn more about each other every day.
There is something really endearing about this series and I've enjoyed watching them grow and explore not only in their relationship with each other but as people in general. As the summer draws to a close both Collin and Tanner worry how they will handle going back to being "just roommates" to the world at large while maintaining their relationship behind the dorm doors. A lot of summer fun and lovin', a little drama, and some sexy explorations makes Moment of Truth another great installment in this series.

In Moment of Time Karen Stivali takes the relationship between Collin and Tanner onto the next level, both physically and emotionally. Although being on Fire Island gives both young men the freedom to openly display their affection for one another, their summer break tests the strength of their relationship.
The way in which Karen Stivali chooses to develop Collin’s characters allows us to see a different side of him than the one we were shown in Moment of Impact. In the first book, I liked his innocence and empathised with the way he was treated by his family. Now, however, I found his naivety irritating and I wanted to shake him out of the funk he lands himself in.
In the first book it was Tanner I was unsure of, yet on Fire Island his confidence is a little more subdued, despite the fact that he is working in a nightclub and spending time with his friends. The strength of his feelings for Collin are obvious and though certain events ask us to doubt him, I never did.
As Collin and Tanner question each other, they also lose the trust of an important friend, as Fire island and its drama begin to spin its web around their lives.
The freedom of the island gives Collin and Tanner an opportunity to explore their sexual relationship and Karen Stivali definitely increases the heat level of the story, but however passionate these acts are, we appreciate their context in terms of the romance.
Moment of Truth is an excellent sequel, in which the characters have the time to come alive a little more. We also have the feeling that each event that has taken place will have consequences for the young men once their summer is over and I wish I had the next instalment in my hands now!

It's summer time and Collin and Tanner are headed to Fire Island for work and some fun in the sun on the beach! Collin has gotten a job at the restaurant where Tanner has worked the last few summers. A very nervous Collin meets all the house mates and things seem to be going good, but when a beach neighbor, Amy starts hanging onto not only Tanner's every word, but onto Tanner himself, Collin's fear, uncertainty and jealousy rears it's ugly head.
In this leg of their journey we see what life would be like for Tanner and Collin if they didn't have to hide their relationship from everyone back at school. It was refreshing to watch them as a couple not in hiding. To see them go out on a real date, out to a night club or just walk down the beach together holding hands.
Karen manages to capture the chemistry that Tanner and Collin had in "Moment of Impact". A gifted writer can make you feel, and she succeeds at that. You feel the love Tanner and Collin share. You feel Collins fears, his heartache, his insecurities, his anxieties, his love, and his happiness. You feel the passion they share.
This leg of their journey isn't all smooth sailing. There are a couple of bumps in the road, but they come through it a stronger couple, and maybe even more in love.
This book was well written, and moved along at a good pace, it held me captivated and turning the pages to see what would happen next, and in the end left me wanting more. I am so looking forward to "Moment of Clarity"! I can't wait to read the conclusion of Tanner and Collin’s story! This book also had some great secondary characters, that I can’t wait to read more about in the future as well! I highly recommend this book!

Tanner and Collin are spending their summer working and living in Fire Island with Wendy and her boyfriend Dex, Maggie (Tanner father’s ex) , Bryan (Suzanne’s brother), Suzanne and her husband Bill, in the same house.
In this book, the readers have the chance to read more about Collin and his relationship with Tanner; Collin adores Tanner and vice versa but he’s still worried about people finding out, especially after his mother’s reaction. Collin feels really sad about his family and about the fact that his brothers don’t talk to him. He’s a bit insecure about not being enough for Tanner and he thinks that Tanner could betray him with a woman .
Something about Wendy’s behavior made me furious .
I really loved the sex scenes between Tanner and Collin and even when a misunderstanding seems to destroy their relationship, they find out that their love for each other, it’s deep, strong and rare.
The writing is really good and even if you don’t have a big knowledge of the English language, you can read this story, very easily.
Can’t wait for book three:)

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
So, I think the author is still keeping true to her mission, but I do wish that this was presented as a complete novel. Not that the short story isn't complete and the issues are real, not contrived if some of the other characters are, but it is kinda frustrating.
I could have done without Wendy, Maggie and Dex. The entire episode was childish and stupid. Jason was an interesting element seeing as Collin has only ever been with Tanner. I think Tanner's POV would be interesting, since all we get to see if Collin's. And seriously, why no explanation about Amy? Those things go both way and I think Collin is justified in his fears. The jealousy/possessiveness stuff I really don't get, but I understand. I am glad it isn't a bigger issue, thought it seems to be a thing now in many stories.
Regardless, this part of the story focuses on Collin and Tanner after the accident, getting to be an out couple together in an ideal environment. They face the challenges of being a couple with outside influences that are also temptations. And like all young people, they fail sometimes.

So I really liked getting to see more of Tanner and Collin in this book. They both go to the beach to work for the summer and stay together which I really loved that they got that time together.
But all the drama and he kissed him and he hugged her and that guy is cheating on his girlfriend while she did the same to him was so much unneeded drama that it just started to annoy me so much.
Yes you do get the sweet between these two men but everything else just overshadowed the good and was just really annoying.
So while I really liked getting to see Collin and Tanner growing closer together, the rest just brought this book down for me..

Due to time I was forced to read these books out of order but that didn’t seem to take anything away from the story. It was almost like just going back in time. Karen Stivali clear has a way with words and it comes across in every page. I loved reading this book and love the characters. I just wish it had been longer. I was able to spend time with some really excellent characters and am glad I don’t have to wait for book 3. Excellent job!!

I love a quick steamy read that still manages to have heart and that's exactly what I'm getting with this novella series. It was wonderful to see these characters settle into a second level of their relationship and face some difficult challenges. The scenes in the house were my favorites. So honest, so raw, and so hot. Their struggles were completely down to earth and real. I completely enjoyed this next part of their journey and look forward to what the future holds for Collin and Tanner.
