In my defense, my twin sister is engaged to the love of my life. Ok, so he’s my ex of two weeks, but I have totally been in love with him since we were kids! Guess he wanted the pretty twin. *shrug emoji* What else is new in my life? They decided to break the news to me in a public place. Probably because they thought it would keep me from losing it.
Ha! I am the queen of humiliating experiences. Yelling, “Hey, bitch!” to a girl I thought was my bestie but was just a random stranger? Yup. Spilling a smoothie all down my shirt in front of a hot guy? Check. Awkward jokes at a job interview? Have you even met me?
Instead of handling the bad news maturely, I lied that I was totally A-OK with being the maid of honor at those lying cheaters’ upcoming nuptials because I already had a boyfriend, thank you very much. Then I promptly grabbed an unsuspecting handsome billionaire and begged shamelessly for him to pretend to be my boyfriend. He, of course, reacted with horror because my life is so not a romantic comedy. Most humiliating moment ever.
Actually, no, scratch that: the worst moment was later that evening, when I got arrested breaking into said billionaire’s office. And since the universe really had it in for me (could also be terrible decision-making skills on my part, but who’s counting), things really took a turn for the worse when the handsome billionaire told me he was willing to make a deal... And be my fake boyfriend.
Liam Svensson had a sexy smile, a deep sexy voice, and an even sexier body underneath that custom suit. Saying he was out of my league would be a huge understatement.
What did he want? My cupcake. ...Like, literally, my cupcake. One a day. A variety. Not... you know... that. Guys like Liam didn’t like awkward girls like me.
Except why was he looking at me like he could cover me in frosting and eat me up? And why did I want to risk it all and say yes?
This is a stand-alone, full-length laugh-out-loud romantic comedy, complete with the Queen of Awkward, who will make you feel better about that cringey joke you told at the last company happy hour, a hot guy with a wicked tongue (for jokes and—ahem), and a happily ever after better than a cupcake with extra sprinkles!
An emotionally thrilling journey from beginning to end and so had to put down. Sweetly sexy, laugh out loud fun, action packed and highly entertaining adventure filled with exciting charters, witty banter, heart racing twists and undeniable passion.
I was looking for something a bit quirky and fun and thought this would fit the bill. I was sooo wrong. I am not a fan of books that spend most of the time making fun of, belittling and undermining the female lead. To add insult to injury her twin sister was also one of the people tearing her down.
Karlie had no back bone and would take whatever her family and frenemies threw her way and go back for seconds and thirds. She came across as a woman stuck in her tween years as she moons over a guy that dumped her for her twin.
Liam was a bit all over the place, playboy, caring brother, at times attentive fakish boyfriend and business shark. Took a while to realize his father was a polygamist and that’s why he had so many siblings ranging in age.
Karlie and Liam decide to help each other out as they would both get mutual benefits, Karlie with letting the world know a rich handsome man loved her and therefore she now had value. Liam to get a contract out from under another company and be the big hero to his family.
This book could have lost a hundred pages and you would not have missed anything. The majority or it was mostly to pile insults and take another dagger to Karlie’s self-esteem. These two spent most of the story apart and for me there was no chemistry.
There were a few good moments, like Liam’s younger siblings and the “Ride-Or-Die” grandmother “Gran” was about the only saving grace. Unfortunately for me that was not enough to balance out an overabundance of nasty and superficial people. I didn’t take it all the way to a one star but it was a close call for me.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I had come to the same conclusion that I believe others had realized. I know that for me, when something negative goes on for “too long”, by the time it corrects itself and becomes amazing, I no longer care about it. That is sort of what this story did. Although there was some fun interspersed, the mean cruelty, insults, and bad treatment had me intensely disliking most of the characters. And Karlie was way too weak, having no spirit of self-preservation to speak out against her abusers. And to pine over a total jerk who would dump her to marry her sister and then throw salt-in-the-wound by insisting she be the maid of honor at their wedding – well, it made me want to kick her in the butt myself!
So I was tentatively glad Liam agreed to be a fake love interest. I hoped it would bring out the confidence in Karlie to finally stand up for herself. But even that wasn’t enough to earn any respect from me by that point. So despite my love of humor in stories, this was too little too late and was smothered early on by the negativity that preceded it. It had a glimmer of possibility but that was quickly snuffed out by the bad stuff. Doormat personalities garner no respect. There comes a time when you have to stand up and say “I matter too!”
So this book was cute. It's a classic fake relationship trope, that is definitely my weakness, but the plot is very typical.
I liked Liam more than Karlee. I just kinda wanted Karlee to just stop being a doormat which never really happened so that was disappointing. Liam was awesome tho I enjoyed the overconfidence, cockiness thing he had going on.
There were parts in the story where I felt like the writing wasn't as smooth as it could be. All in all the was a cute light read.
Could not finish this, I really tried but it was so jumbled and all over the place ,there was so much going on that it got confusing and the grand mother WTF 😬.
This is book four of The Manhattan Svenssons and the main characters are Karlie Campbell and Liam Svensson. Karlie’s twin sister Roberta has asked her to lunch in a restaurant, supposedly for some twin time, but in fact to announce her engagement to Marcus, Karlie’s ex-boyfriend after he cheated on her with Roberta, but who she has been in love with since she was five! Roberta is the pretty twin and has now got the man she always wanted and insists on Karlie being her maid of honour and organising her wedding, tout suite! She even wants her to give up her part time job at a local bakery, so she has the time to do it properly! Who needs a sister like that? With snide comments from her twin sister and her ex, she pretends she has a boyfriend and when she can’t show them a photo or even call him, they start laughing at her. When she hears the door opening, she turns and points to the tall and handsome man who was coming into the restaurant, Liam. She runs up to him and begs him to help her by pretending to be her boyfriend, only to have a hysterical woman behind him accuse him of cheating on her, when they were going to get married! Except he actually met her online and this was their first date. Talk about going overboard! Karlie wants to disappear out the door and does, before realising she has to go back to her sister’s table to get her handbag, with everybody watching her. Awkward! Liam runs a very successful company, Platinum Provisions, which has made him a billionaire and now he needs to get a deal done with another company, before his CEO Jack Frost’s sister Belle, buys it instead. They need JetCut as it allows them to do high precision cutting at micro scales and would save them on software and machinery. The owner of JetCut, Joshua, is going to be in town for a load of high society weddings of friends and family, so Liam could take a date along and meet Joshua, before he advertises his business is for sale. Now all he needs is the right kind of woman to be his date! Meanwhile Karlie is bemoaning her lunchtime experience with her best friend Sophie and she finds Liam on social media from Karlie’s description of hot and rich! Karlie decides to apologise to Liam by taking a cupcake to his workplace, which is a complete tower. The front door is locked, a sit is clearly after hours and she had a lot to drink to get the courage up to go there. She finds a back door open and sneaks up to his office and puts a cupcake on his desk, only to be shocked by his voice in the dark. Next a security guard comes and arrests her for breaking in and Liam thinks she is a stalker! He eats the cupcake and gets home to his little sister Kiki, who can tell he had a cupcake and is annoyed he didn’t bring her one! Liam comes from an extremely large family, who insist on family time several times a week! He has four brothers, a load of half-brothers and a load of little sisters as well. Definitely a complicated family tree there! Kiki is now staying with Liam in his apartment, after their father was put in jail for dodgy dealings. After a night in jail, her mother is totally embarrassed with her, while her gran talks all about girl power, and Karlie just wants to die. She can’t forget the smug look on Liam’s face as he had her arrested! Liam’s older brother Greg has managed to get the guest list of the Wedding in the City parade, to see who might be single amongst all the attendees of the upcoming high society weddings, looking for a suitable date for Liam. That is, if he can stick with the same woman for three weddings and all the extra wedding events. There is a very slim list of single females on the list and one of them is Karlie. The other two are definitely worse, so he decides to crash her date with a loser from a dating app Sophie stuck her on, and tell her he will be her boyfriend for her. All he wants in exchange is one cupcake a day, but they have to be different, so he will be surprised. Karlie has a horrible time with her supposed group of friends and her sister, with the first bride ordering her around and being downright nasty to her! Liam doesn’t like that one bit and when the super long wedding takes place, he does something really hilarious, which gets the brides ire, but is loved by most of the guests there! What he didn’t realise, was that his idea would backfire against Karlie, with her being blamed for ruining her supposed friend’s wedding! Her true best friend is getting married into a polyamorist relationship and Karlie would love to get her friend to realise how wrong this relationship seems to be for her! Liam recognises the man, Rudy, from somewhere in his past, but can’t remember exactly who he is. When he does, the true horror of what Karlie’s friend is in for, is clear to him but he needs to hide his knowledge from Karlie, whilst his brothers try to get evidence of what wrongdoing is linked to their imprisoned father. A complex storyline with Liam’s family history and background, but also loads of horrible bridezillas and women who pretend to be friends, but are anything but! There is lots of steamy sex scenes in the book, maybe more than some might be comfortable with. Karlie is a bit of a ditz at times, but her and Liam are so right for each other and have the usual problems that come from having a fake relationship and not really knowing each other well, as things start to get very real between them. I absolutely loved her extremely rude and outspoken gran, who tells is as it is and is trying to live her life as fully as possible and doesn’t give a damn what anyone else thinks! The Svensson family is extremely convoluted and extensive, making it difficult to follow along, with just mentions of little sisters, but no idea how many there are, other than Kiki living with Liam, but where the others stay is unclear. The brothers escaped from their father and the lifestyle and apparently managed to go back and get all of their sisters out of the bad situation they were living in, then all became billionaire businessmen shortly thereafter, by the sounds of it, however likely that is! Overall, the story is very funny and gives you a lot of laugh out loud moments and makes me want to read some of the other books in the series. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout ad I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
I've read almost every book that Alina Jacobs published and I'm getting more and more dissapointed with every book. At least this time there was Gran, who was supportive and protective of heroine, because in few other books family and friends were downright abusive to main female character, and Grandmothers, who were described as the 'only family member who had any warmth', were just passive or betrayed main female lead at some point and abandoned them. This was suppose to be cute romantic comedy about awkward girl, but it was embarassing to read sometimes. I don't understand why in age of body positivity we just shun the one with few extra pounds on them. That being said, every heroine in Jacobs' books eats their feelings, drinks excessively and is allergic to excersise. They sound depressed and more of a cautionary tale of what happens to people who won't control their lives. They think that everything will work out with wishful thinking, but they barely put any work into their plany and hope for good luck. I like heroine with all sort of body type, curvy, slim, tall, short, i honestly don't care, as long as it has some positivity and good patterns to break stereotypes. Why curvy or heavier heroines cannot be simply that way? Why can't they just inharit their figure from their fathers? They can still enjoy food or some alcohol, get light excersise and set a nice example for women who read about them? Instead we have bunch of girls who sound like they let themselves go and are on the way to liver and heart failure in few years, not to mention therapy. On the other hand we have bunch of slim girls who are mean and backstabbing, that's really hurtful stereotype as well. Why slim person is always on diet and being judgemental of all of people who actually eat? I'm actually thin as stick but i love cooking for myself and my family and i do enjoy good food, and a drink from time to time and i don't judge how others look. It's really sad that the villan is always some girl who looks like model and heroine's cruelty is described as her finally taking control over her life. Another thing that is annoying lately is Belle Frost. In this book she is not as prominent as in the others, but she comes out like petty and cruel person. I understand the rivarly between she and Greg, but she is so callous in her behaviour. When Meg and Hunter were fighting with each other it was petty but not really mean spirited, here she is doing awful stuff and not seeing an error of her ways. I just hope she will have to fight for Greg's affection and apologise for some things, because she is in wrong here. This came long, but I've had some things on my chest and i just needed to share them. I'm still going to read her books because I'm curious what happens with Svensson clan, but it's not as enjoyable as it used to be.
Is it just me or fake relationship troupe are always so fun?? I think I like them because of the honesty. The two people go into it knowing they are using one another. As always there are unexpected emotional connections, physical attractions, and blurred lines. With that said this will never get old.
For those who are not familiar with the Svensson series, your first intro to Liam is him being a selfish, arrogant asshat. He comes around and has many redeeming moments and is very protective of Karlie.
Karlie is super submissive and is constantly being victimized by her "friends" and family. It reminded me of how people treated Evan's little sister in Alina's Bridezillas and Billionaires book, where in my review I called out the bullying. She's awkward and anything that can go wrong does go wrong with her.
I liked that she wasn't down on her luck. A lot of times there seems to be a trend of these women needing to be saved. While Karlie isn't super successful, she comes from money, isn't homeless, and has a support system. Her relationship with her dad is so sweet.
Super excited that a Richmond brother was featured, fingers crossed a cross over series with them is in the works. We get more Crawford (he's soo freaking hot) and of course Belle and Greg interactions.
I really liked this book. I highlighted so many funny moments. Karlie isn't my favorite female lead out of the brothers series but she was someone I felt protective of. I think the constant bullying was present to help us understand her insecurity and difficulty believing she was worthy.
Liam's little sister Kiki was cut but not as present as the other sisters had been in the other books. She was just more of a background character as many of the little brothers are in the Harrogate series. Not a bad thing but would have liked to see interactions.
Overall, I am happy with this book and will continue to read this series as it's entertaining and fun.
Karlie is having a bad day, her twin sister has just announced her engagement to Karlie’s ex, of two weeks. Yep, he cheated on Karlie with her own twin. It seems like her twin is the jealous type and couldn’t have Karlie in a happy, long term relationship with her childhood crush. So she crushed her own flesh and blood. Then Karlie lied, she has another boyfriend. And when a hot guy walked into the restaurant where they took Karlie to break the engagement news, he didn’t back her up, and his “fiancée” threw a hissy fit right there in front of the entire crowd of diners. So Karlie decides to track the guy down to apologize and ends up breaking into his building to leave him an apology cupcake. Yes, you read that right. She broke in and left him an apology cupcake. Of course he wasn’t cool with that, so he had her arrested. After a night in jail, she found out that the company would be dropping the charge. But it gets crazier. Now Liam needs a way into a society wedding and guess who could get him in. That’s right, his stalker, Karlie. Sound insane enough for you? Well he makes a deal with her and all he wants in return is a cupcake a day. A different cupcake every day, a surprise. Liam is also raising a sister, all the Svenssons brothers, but the older half-brother (he’s raising all the younger brothers). Will Liam and Karlie be able to keep their hands off of each other and keep their relationship fake? Will Karlie’s twin be able to keep her hands off Liam and stick with her own fiancé? You’ll have to read the story yourself. I’m not the type of person who gives away the good stuff. By the way, it says you don’t have to read books 1 & 2, but I recommend it, there’s a couple of storylines that wind through the series that you won’t really know all about if you don’t start from the beginning.
This book had its fun moments. The situations Karlie finds herself in are pretty bad/humiliating at times. And sometimes she does it to herself with her awkwardness or desperation to save face. The premise of this book sounded light-hearted and funny. But reading it, it just gave off a different vibe to me that rubbed me wrong. The story is packed full of drama/melodrama that kept me reading until the end. But it was mainly to see Karlie and Liam get their happily ever after- and for Karlie to finally stand up for herself.
But there were SO many toxic characters in this book. There was just so much constant belittling, shaming, and negative putting down thrown at Karlie that I honestly can't understand how she could be around any of these people. They hurt her feelings, made her feel bad about herself and humiliated. And yet she didn't speak up for herself. She pined after a boyfriend who left her for her twin sister and then they wanted to get married after two weeks and for some reason make her the maid of honor. And she agreed because her nasty sister called her jealous and threatened to tell the ex/fiancé about the shrine she had of him. Seriously? And she still wanted him back (for a little while at least- Liam is a major upgrade). After a while it was just bringing me down reading about so many nasty, entitled, fake, emotionally abusive characters. My favorite character in the whole book is Gran. I thought she was hilarious and unique, as well as always supportive of Karlie. I liked Liam as well.
I know people love this kind of over-the-top drama- there are more than enough reality shows with stuff like this. But it wasn't for me or to my tastes and I would not read more in this series. 2 stars.
'Yeah, I Hate-Ate Your Cupcake!' by Alina Jacobs is the third book in her The Manhattan Svenssons series and tells the story of Karlie, a socially awkward twin from an upper class NYC family, and Liam, who owns a high precision manufacturing company. Karlie has just suffered another loss to her twin, Roberta. Turns out she stole her boyfriend, Marcus, and was now getting married to him in three months. Plus she wanted Karlie to be the maid of honor. Karlie couldn't believe this was happening. To save face she made up a boyfriend. Neither Roberta or Marcus believed her, so she pointed out the tall, extremely good looking guy who just walked into the restaurant. Karlie rushed up to the man asking him to go along with her little white lie. But he rebuked her quite loudly telling her to take her crazy elsewhere. Liam couldn't believe the audacity of some people.
Later that day Liam found out from his brother that one of the companies they use for their business was being sold. They needed that company but the owner was a bit of a recluse. However, he would be in New York for a series of social weddings. Turns out he needs Karlie just as much as she needs him. Maybe they can strike a bargain?
Ms. Jacobs has written an engaging addition to her series. The interactions between Karlie and Liam are at turn hilarious and steamy. This story has laughs, drama, surprises, twists, passion, and plenty of heat. I really enjoyed this book and can not wait for the next one. Highly recommend!!

When Karlie' sister becomes engaged to her ex-boyfriend she tries to play it off by saying she was seeing someone. However, it all backfired when she walks up to stranger, and he rejects her in a way that makes people take notice. Karlie tries to fix things with Liam yet that doesn't go well. She finally gives up and goes back to just baking. She's out at a bar and Liam finds her and wants to make amends for the misunderstandings. Karlie doesn't want anything to do with him at first but then he offers to be her boyfriend through all the weddings she has to go to. There's a catch he wants to be introduced to someone that will be at a couple of the wedding functions and for her to make him cupcakes daily. She agrees. Liam does not like how some people treat Karlie and does some things about it. Certain things he gets away with but noy everything. Sparks start flying between him and Karlie and soon neither remembers that its supposed to be fake. Will this turn into something more?
I am a firm believer of reading reviews before I get a book that hasn't been recommended to me from someone I know. However, the reviews on this book talk about how negative the book is. The female lead in the book is talked down to because she needs to come into her own to stand up for herself. That being said this book will have you wanting to scream, cry and laugh. So, prepare yourself for some mood swings. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

While this book could stand on its own, it definitely helps to be familiar with the author’s over-the-top comedy style and the crazy spider’s web that makes up the Svensson family tree and their business relationships and rivalries. The Svensson brothers are deeply flawed individuals, but, somehow, they’re still eminently lovable. (Or at least most of them are. I’m looking at you Greg Svensson.) Liam is devoted to his family and seeing that they remain free of their father. Karlie reminds me a little of Ivy from “Bridezillas And Billionaires” in that she could almost be the dictionary definition of a door mat. She’s also surrounded by many of the same people who live down to the very worst stereotypes about the spoiled rich; particularly the mean girls. I love a fake relationship because you just know it’s not going to remain like that and the faking couple are going to catch real feelings along the way. I thought Liam and Karlie made an adorable couple and I was very happy to see them get their happy ever after. Even though I can’t say the surprise twist at the end was very surprising to me, it might almost have been the best scene of the book. I can’t wait to see the next Svensson (or Frost or Holbrook) find their forever. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through Booksprout.
A romance between a billionaire and an unfortunate twin. Karlie’s boyfriend decides to dump her and go with her twin sister, Roberta, when they get engaged Karlie is still hung up on Marcus. However when Roberta keeps exclaiming that Karlie is hung up on Marcus, Karlie decides to grab unsuspecting hunk Liam in public and declares he is her new boyfriend. Needless to say that does not go well and poor old Karlie is left humiliated! Separately Liam finds he needs to find a fake girlfriend to help his family secure a business deal, and there we have Karlie and Liam needing a fake partner, what could go wrong? Karlie and Liam, both aware of the fake romance plan keep going with their romance, on the understanding Karlie supplies Liam with a cupcake every day. This story was perhaps a bit too sexy and saucy for me, but I’m sure that wouldn’t put others off. It swapped between Karlie and Liam’s point of view. My personal highlight of this book was Liam’s relationship with his little sister Kiki who called Karlie the cupcake fairy. All in all, a sweet, cheesy, funny romance. While it is part of a series, Alina told me it could be read as a stand-alone and I felt that it was fine to read as a stand-alone. If it was less saucy I feel I would have enjoyed it a lot more. I received a free copy of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
When her twin Roberta gets engaged to the man she believes is the love of her life, Marcus. Karlie is desperate and approaches Liam to beg him to be her fake boyfriend he thinks she's crazy and refuses and his date goes ballistic causing an awkward moment for Karlie. Believing she has ruined his relationship she bakes an apology cupcake and takes it to his office and he has her arrested then has the audacity to hate-eat the cupcake she baked! When Liam needs a fake girlfriend to get a business deal Karlie is one of his only options and they make a deal he will be her fake boyfriend and she will help him get the business deal, only Liam learns more about Karlie and the more he learns the more he likes her. The two start sleeping together thinking that's all it will be but become obsessed with one another and the relationship becomes real but Liam must still land his deal and distract and lie to Karlie to keep his father in prison. I really loved Karlie in this book she was so awkwardly adorable and I loved that she got into so many hilarious situations. The sparks between her and Liam were amazing even when they were hating one another and Liam is my second favorite Manhattan Svensson brother! Liam and Karlie's story was so captivating that I only missed Greg and Belle a little. I also loved Karlie's grandmother!
I really enjoy the books in this series. They are funny, romantic, steamy and relatable.
Karlie Campbell is the queen of awkward and humiliating experiences. She was raised in a well off family, has a twin sister who stole her boyfriend and works at her friend's bakery getting paid in pastries. She is impulsive, good hearted and lets her frenemies take advantage of her good nature.
Liam Svensson is a billionaire and the son of a poligamist. He has a ton of full and half siblings and was raised in a cult. He is a total playboy, arrogant and a bit of a narcissist.
Katie runs into Liam at a restaurant and begs him to pretend to be her boyfriend. He declines and she is humiliated. Later she breaks into his office building to leave a cupcake and apology note and gets arrested. Liam needs an in to the high brow weddings so he can get in touch with the owner of a company he needs to buy. He and Karlie make a deal to trade a daily cupcake for her access to the wedding functions. They start falling for each other while going through a series of hilarious and humiliating situations. They eventually fall in love and get their HEA.

This is Liam and Karlie's love story. Karlie is a sweet, nice person who is socially awkward and has low self-esteem. She isn't close to her twin sister who lives to one-up Karlie and ensure that she always feels inferior. The story opens with the twin and Karlie's ex-boyfriend, the love of her life (with whom she recently broke up) announcing they are engaged. The twin strong-arms Karlie into agreeing to be her maid of honor. In a effort to save face, Karlie ends up humiliating herself through a very awkward first encounter with Liam. However, at a later point Liam and Karlie meet again and agree to a mutually-beneficial, fake boyfriend/girlfriend relationship to help Liam land a business deal and improve Karlie's stature in the eyes of her toxic twin, an even more toxic frenemy named Bently and her upper-class social circle in general. Of course, Karlie and Liam begin falling in love with each other while the twin and Bently keep trying to sabotage their relationship. Karlie's grandmother is hilarious and outrageous; she had me laughing out loud on multiple occasions. There is also some mystery involved surrounding Liam's polygamist, incarcerated father. I highly recommend this one!
Always a bride's maid never a bride that pretty much sums up Karlie Campbells life at the moment. Liam Svensson needs to meet with the owner of the company that his company wants to purchase. Since it's wedding central in Manhattan at the moment, and the other companies' owner will be attending not only the wedding, but the events leading up to the main event, he needs an "in". Karlie can't believe it, first he has her arrested, now he wants to be her date. Of course, there's a catch but it's one she can live with, right? I loved these characters. They are all well written, compelling, and I think they're pretty darn realistic in their interactions. Karlie and Liam are sexy, sweet, ad perfect for each other. Oh, and grandma had me in stitches, they're all funny, but she was a hoot. Laugh out loud hilariously funny romantic comedy with some surprising, and hilarious twists in the plot. Another must read by an amazing author. I highly recommend this book.

Yeah, I Hate-Ate Your Cupcake is book 3 in Alina Jacobs' The Manhattan Svenssons series, and an absolutely hysterical, steamy, entertaining rom-com that you will not be able to put down. Liam and Karlie's meet-cute is absolutely the opposite of cute - but the definition of hysterical. Before long, the awkward baker from old money and a world of high society is making a deal with the billionaire son of a convicted polygamist to be each other's fake relationship through a series of weddings and their accompanying events. A cast of mean-girl frenemies, a back-stabbing twin sister, a polygamist's worth of siblings, and the craziest-yet-coolest grandmother ever help Liam and Karlie's mis-matched relationship along. Liam and Karlie's chemistry is off-the-charts, but their entertaining, awkward, steamy journey is a laugh-out-loud, over-the-top story about relationship goals. This is a definite must-read!

Karlie Campbell, cupcake queen, and Liam Svensson, billionaire, made a pact to help each other. Karlie needs a boyfriend for several weddings she’s involved with, and he needs her help getting into the same weddings so he can schmooze the head of a company his company wants to merge with. Karlie’s ex-boyfriend, Marcus, cheated on Karlie with her twin sister, Roberta. Roberts wants Karlie to help plan her wedding. Karlie is also involved in two other weddings.Liam grew up in a polygamist family but wants nothing to do with it. He lives in a condo complex with several of his siblings. This story is full of little girls, annoying brothers, bridezillas, mystery, cupcakes, and many colourful characters. I loved Karlie, but she was a bit insecure and never seemed to feel good enough to marry. Liam was afraid of committing to anyone due to his childhood. They brought out the best in each other. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

Liam and Karlie are roped into desperate situations and start fake dating to help each other out. Of course, the relationship doesn’t stay fake for long! They grow closer as things get crazier and it’s a wild ride along the way.
Liam and Karlie were the cutest. Their banter and chemistry were off the charts. One of my favorite tropes is fake dating and this book definitely does not disappoint in that area. I also loved how Liam was with his little sister and the relationship all the Svensson siblings have with each other. They no doubt drive each other crazy but the way they still look out for each other is the sweetest. The book definitely has comedy and light-hearted moments but I loved how it still shows at the core that Liam and his brothers are doing what they can to protect their family. I do feel like the pacing of the book could have been faster in some parts. Overall though, this book is a cute, light, and steamy read.

This is the third book in the Manhattan Svenssons arc. They get better and better. This one features Liam and Karlie. He is the co-owner of Platinum Provisions and they company that supplies their software is rumored to be selling the whole company. He and his brothers need to be the buyers or they will have to pay exorbitant fees to whoever does buy it. This is where Karlie fits into the plan. She is in desperate need of a hot boyfriend. See her twin-sister stole hers and they plan to be married in three months. And since Karlie is working with Weddings in the City baker, Sophie, she has to be the maid of honor and plan the whole thing. So they decide to fake date to reach both of their goals. As you can guess this is hilarious. There is a lot of angst on both sides. And spectacular wedding fails. And of course there are lots of steamy scenes. And your blood glucose levels may rise just reading about all these cupcakes. Alina Jacobs had created a world full of tall, blond, grey eyed, hot men. And then there are the women who tame them. This book is about awkward Karlie, her evil twin Roberta, her crazy funny grandma and Liam , a Manhattan Svenson brother. When Roberta steal Karlie boyfriend and love of her life she grabs the first man to walk in the restaurant to convince him to be her fake boyfriend! He refuses and the fun starts. He gets her arrested! When he discovers she is friends with the owner of a company he desperately needs to buy to save his business he comes up with a proposition for her. I love grandma in his book. She is hilarious, speaks her mind, and is a huge Karlie supporter. It was sad how Roberta and friends bully Karli! But Karli buries the hurt deep and continues to act like it doesn’t hurt. I love that Karli finds her inner strength and wins in the end! I highly recommend this hilarious book. I always look forward to reading the next book in the series!

A witty rom-com with another Svensson character 4.5* Karlie and Liam’s story is no less warm-hearted and enjoyable than all the other books that had gone before. They were well described, along with the supporting cast, as well as the toxic participants of the storyline. On the odd occasion, probably due to the seemingly never-ending supply of Svensson siblings, additional relatives and friends in this book, following the storyline, was a little challenging. Perseverance nevertheless brings clarity. The novel had an easy-going, light-hearted tone crowned with witty and often funny dialogue that made me practically cry. Their steamy attraction and eventual HEA brings a welcome resolution to the angsty hilarity and confusion. I like this author and would more than happily recommend her, along with all her novels, including this one.

What starts as an odd situation may be exactly what you need.
I loved this story. It was entertaining and enjoyable even with the drama, angst, and multiple wedding shenanigans. The characters were interesting and likable for the most part. Roberta and Marcus were really perfect for each other. Karlie did take a long time to realize that Marcus was lame and not worth her dedication. Gran was absolutely amazing. She cracked me up so much. Liam was a sweetheart but had some issues that he needed to deal with. He had a great sense of humor and seemed very easygoing. Liam’s relationship with his sister Kiki was adorable. Karlie and Liam were great together. They each had things to work through but it was easier for both of them when they worked on them together. I loved how the story ended. I recommend reading this book.

170+ pages in and i'm drowning in Karlies self doubt and poor self esteem. Not to mention her obsession with her peice of shit ex that is now with her sister....gag. Although i LOVED the first book, the second book started going down hill and the 3rd one I can honestly say I am quite disappointed in.. i dont overly love the long drawn out want and need going on between her and Liam. Im all for slow burn, but this isnt even sparking the kindling.
Then when shit hits the fan, Liam lies but comes back to apologize she goes bat shut crazy... aint no one got time for that hot and cold i sure dont find it appealing. I prefer strong female rolls, and she just has too much self doubt and lets everyone and thier brother man handle her life. No thanks.
I do have to say, why cant my Grandma be like Grams. Shes a freaking hoot and I've caught myself laughing at the shit she says multiple times!
All in all, I was highly disappointed with book 3 of the Manhattan Svensson series.

I really like Karlie, she is a mess but a sweet, helpful mess. I hate how her sister and so-called friends treat her but she also lets it happen. I always love all of the characters Alina creates because none of them are perfect, they all over eat junk food, none seem to be super skinny either, more just like normal people and that helps a reader relate to the character. At first of course Liam is a cocky man whore but Karlie changes all of that as they get to know each other. As usual I love the Svensson little sisters they all have their own unique personality. I always feel so sad for all of the siblings when things come up about their dad and the fear they live with constantly worried that he’s going to get out of jail. Of course Liam makes mistakes and yes he does learn the hard way but it all works out in the end and they have a happy ever after. The parts with Greg and Belle are still just as wonderful as they were from the beginning I cannot wait for their story.
Mmmmmm Cake! Another steamy, edible and most of all, comical storyline by author Alina Jacobs. The pair in this book is Liam Svenssons and Karlie, Cupcake Baker extraordinaire. Theirs is a “fake” relationship until it’s not. It’s a platonic relationship until it’s not. And in the meantime everyone around Karlie is getting married, even if for nefarious reasons which may or may not involve the FBI. With all this kinetic energy being slung around will Liam and Karlie survive or go the way that Greg and Belle’s relationship went? Without a doubt I’m recommending this book for your reading enjoyment and pleasure. PEACE.

Yeah, I Hate-Ate Your Cupcake!: A Romantic Comedy (The Manhattan Svenssons Book 3) by Alina Jacobs. Another sweet and sassy treat full of wicked humor, LOL moments, easy banter, heated attractions, heartfelt drama, and family you either want to hug too tight or down right strangle. Liam is a great main character and finds himself in a situation for redemption and winning the big contract. But he needs help, and for this he needs Karlie. Fun, loveable, and slightly awkward Karlie is here to save the day. But IMO gran and Kiki steal the show! I enjoyed this story and look forward to more from this talented author.
