“Now that I have found her, I refuse to lose her...”
THERESA One by one, I’ve seen my friends fall in love with the alien warriors on this planet. I’m so happy for them, but I can’t help but feel jealous. More than any other single girl on this planet, I want what they have – a mate. After a childhood in foster care and an adulthood littered with crappy boyfriends, I just want to find my place. My home. Love. I want it more than anything, and I’m ready for it.
What I’m not ready for? An enemy Gahn from beyond the mountains attacking our settlement in the dead of night. And even more than that? This bleeding Gahn with piercing silver eyes and brutal blades claims that I’m his mate.
Baldor seeks to claim me. I’ve waited for this moment. Craved it. But now that it’s here, I’m not so sure I’m ready anymore.
Baldor is hardened, fierce, and stubborn. Beneath his tough exterior, a dark pain looms inside him.
And even as my feelings for this enemy Gahn grow, I’m not sure that I’m strong enough to let in the light.
BALDOR I never thought I’d be granted a second mate after losing my first. I do not even know if I deserve another chance at happiness. Deserving or not, I will find her. I will fight for her. And I will claim her.
But my attack against the other tribes to claim my mate does not go as planned. The other Gahns have new allies and are stronger than ever before. Having my blades forced down is bad enough. What’s even worse is the fact that my mate, the lovely, sun-haired Thereeza, does not seem to want me.
She is the light in a world gone dark. A future I’d never hoped to earn. I will not lose her.
To win her love, I will have to go further than I’ve ever gone before.
And I’ll have to sacrifice more than I’d ever thought possible.
This one was just okay for me. I was expecting a lot more, because frankly I wanted more for Theresa. Not to mention the unknown "Enemy Gahn Baldor", which he did not disappoint. I love him and I think he and Theresa are a great match. I just was hoping for more story and less easy fluff. More conflict and depth. Their coupling in all aspects was very rushed. Especially them Physically connecting, which finally happened at the 96% mark, which made everything feel rushed when the book ended... The build up to everything just left it all flat for me. They had a few sweet moments and some LOL ones too. But that's it. No, there is one more thing.. I would totally have Baldor's Cubs :D
This story just felt like another filler book for me, though. Much like book 5 did. Just here to move the main plot along but the MCs are just written in almost like an after thought. These stories are starting to feel rushed now. So hopefully, book 7 is much better than the last two.
I'm wondering if book 7 is actually the final book or not? If it is, it better be Epic. The Teaser for it is certainly intriguing & promising.. We shall see.
Based on all 6 of these books, I would recommend this series. But books 1-4 seem to be the best ones. Book 1 is still the best out of those 4, IMO... All 7 books are on KU.
I'm really not a fan of pregnancy in alien books. It wasn't super focused on but it was mentioned several times by both the hero and heroine and there were a few "I cant wait to fill you with my cub comments". Pregnancy tropes/storylines etc are just not my jam, it takes me out of my escapism. This was my final book to read in the series. I really enjoy how in each book the conflict really isn't between the main characters. All too often we get a 3rd act breakup and none of these books have that. There is conflict but it is something else, like in this book it was the sandstorm. The Gahn in this story also had a previous mate which I thought would bother me but didn't. She died before he was able to actually consummate the bond. He was on his way back to his home from seeing her face in the Lavrikas pools when she died.

I loved this book. I've been completely fascinated with this series from book one. There is just something completely intriguing and captivating about these characters and this alien world that I can't get enough of. This story was exciting and suspenseful from the start. A new clan is before us in this book, with a new Ghan coming to claim his mate. Wonderful characters. Both have their own insecurities to face. I loved watching them come together. A fantastic series. Excited for the next book. 5 stars.
Every new SFR series manages to come up with an entirely new way to view male genitalia. Below Exhibit 1.
I used to look askance at kangaroo peen in another book series because the romance didn't work...and that genital setup is so not my jam. But then Ursa Dax said "hey, how about Doberman ears, cat nose, human bodybuilder torso and thighs....and some kangaroo tail and feet? Or you know, land crocodiles, but not til later?"
Um, excuse me what now?
So of course, I've devoured the entire crackilicious series in a couple of weeks. Because that's how I roll.
Any-whoosie, let's do this.
Series: It's a straight up alien soap opera and I'm ok with that. I think it was interesting to come at this familiar trope (human women kidnapped and thrust onto alien planet for REASONS) instead making the kidnapping as part of a mission to explore a strange new world (ok I just kept doing the Star trek opening, but you get what I mean).
The women end up being a reason for separate tribes on the planet Zaphrinax to come together because of the hope of repopulating their numbers with the human women, as opposed to the typical alien villains kidnapping women for sexual slavery etc. The worldbuilding is enough to keep me engaged without getting lost in the minutiae. And the overarching storyline continues to build. I'm digging it, kinda the way I like IPB. Getting to know the Sea Sand folx and their Lavrika's blood that fixes everything, and the survivalist aspect, seeing how the human women are fragile yet determined to make it on this deadly planet. They were all selected for this "mission" because of their particular skillsets and that makes the individual stories click along. It can be a little predictable but I like the comfort factor of that predictability since the physicality and the sheer weird factor of the planet itself keeps things hopping.
This Book: Theresa and Baldor is another solid entry to the series. Baldor's past is tragic, but the love after loss of his first mate (that he never claimed) worked for me. Not a big change in the overall formula but still good.
“Alright, well, I’m going to go.” I was getting déjà vu for how many times I’d said I was going to go so far. But this time, I meant it. I stepped out of the tent, out into the light. But I didn’t feel the heat of the sun touching my skin. A shadow descended over me. I looked up to find Gahn Baldor stretching his loincloth over my head like a goddamned parasol. And he was still buck naked.
Gods, this was just lovely. Intense and heartbreaking and so, so lovely.
Theresa is an absolute sweetheart who for once is actually excited about finding love amongst the alien tribes, and Baldor just fucking broke me with all his trauma-based fears. This book gave me so much emotional whiplash. I went from laughing to crying to screaming into my pillow – and it was glorious. This is my favourite instalment in this series so far. Even though the story still felt a bit rushed (as these types of books always seem to be), the progression of their relationship was still quite natural, and quite frankly it was really nice for once to have a female protagonist who’s actually actively dreaming about starting a family of human-alien-hybrids with her mate (since that part can often feel a bit icky when it comes to stories revolving around a mating bond).
Baldor grunted, moving in closer on his knees until his chest was pressed into the jagged edge of the rock he’d placed me on. “Your wounds,” I whispered, worried about the rock against the wounds we’d just bandaged. “There is no wound except the wound of not having you,” Baldor said, his voice thick.
I stumbled across Ursa Dax and her romance Fated Mates of the Sea Sand Warlords series after finishing up reading books from another author. I wanted something a bit different from normal romance and decided that Sci Fi romance was the go because anything can go. Let me tell you I really enjoyed them and read the whole series one straight after the other, Alien men in all sizes and shapes, all growly and protective of their mates was just what I needed. Of course, it takes a while for the abducted Human women to come around but that is just part of the fun. Ursa’s world building makes it so easy to imagine the world she has created, and the characters are so easy to fall in love with. If you love Sci Fi romance that is messy, sexy, a little alien erotica and fated mates then Ursa is your gal. I was not disappointed, and I know you won’t be either.
So far my least favorite… I didn’t really have any feelings about Theresa over these last 6 books but I honestly didn’t expect her to land a Gahn. I really thought Kat deserved a Chapman-like story because of her strong personality and feistiness. Theresa is pretty subdued in comparison and I just wasn’t pleased with her pairing with Baldor.
This was a lot of fun but tbh I might be getting a little burnt out on the series so I’m gonna slow it down. Still loving the world/ characters though!
Hmm I'm bouncing between a 2.5 to a solid 3. For me personally ...this actually wasn't my favorite. After being in LOVE with 4 and 5, I went to read 1,2,3...and then to 6. I would say to me this is sort of the bottom (along with book 2) in terms of how I liked the books.
I didn't have any issue with Baldor since he's a sweetheart and you get to see his mind, and it's also nice whenever the other MLs also emphasize with his actions. SInce they all know if they were in the other position - they would've done the same to find their mate. The other things is you really see how desperate their clan is, so it's also really understandable why Baldor did the things he did. Personally I never had an issue with that we saw in the other books too, since the world they are in - that's just the dynamics. (The humans who sent them there lol..........uh no.)
My main reason actually is that - I just wasn't a fan of Theresa. She is definitely sweet and caring, but it's just points in her character that irked me an odd way. I liked her honestly just up until Baldor's meeting, where she does show her disdain, granted he hurted and attacked - but I felt she had still been presented super emphatic regardless, that it was hard for me to see her have FULL on hate mode to him. Of course she does open up, but it still was just odd to me. There are some either minor things, but regardless she is the most understanding and definite fit to Baldor.
Another more umm...odd reason is Baldor's history too:
I'm noticing it a trend with all the books, but ending is very abrupt so that's a warning there.
Since I've read all the books at this point that are out to 6...my ranking is lots of ties! 1st - 4th & 5th tie 2nd - 1st & 3rd tie 3rd - 2nd & 6th...I don't think they should tie but I can't decide between the two.
A little bit more polished than the previous volume, but still plagued by distracting typos and head-scratching worldbuilding choices.
I liked the plot progressions that occurred (the meeting of the Gahns, the research into sunscreen and birth control, the focus on the Zaphrinaxians' (?) relationship with their animals). I also enjoyed Baldor's history with his previous mate and her loss; it provided interest to the formula.
However, some things really bother me still. Like when one of the men hunt, they don't dress the kill right away. Wouldn't that spoil the meat and hide? Dax also doesn't seem to account for the skinning and preparing of the hides ; Baldor talks of skinning the (undressed) dakrival he killed and using its hides for a tent literally that same night. I've never skinned an animal and used its hide, but I'm pretty damn sure it does not work that way. Relatedly, the women using water for their sauna -- how? That water would be long gone, or way too precious to waste dumping onto rocks.
Listen, these are stupid things to be worried over in alien porn. Even I admit that. But I'm just telling it as it is. They're not bad books for the genre; they're some of the better I've read if I were to line them all up. But they could definitely have been elevated significantly, perhaps above IPB and closing in on R Lee Smith territory, if certain aspects were improved upon / better thought out.
Oh man, I didn't really care for Baldor. It's a little irrational since I don't think he technically did anything better or worse than the other dudes. I was kind of annoyed at how quickly Theresa was interested in him even though that's pretty much the case of every woman so far in every book so it's not exactly fair to be annoyed. I don't know if it's because of how pushy and not understanding he was (even though the other Gahns had to go through something similar) or if it was just in comparison to Kor (my beloved). It's a bummer because I otherwise liked Theresa and thought she had great potential. I also like that the women are doing more of their own stuff and becoming a little more independent.
I also have a really hard time believing that it didn't ever occur to Baldor or the Sea Sand aliens that the irkdu can feel pain. NEVER? How? HOW. There are humans that are indifferent, apathetic, or intentionally cruel to animals but as far as I'm aware, they're still aware that animals can feel pain. I can't accept that. I'm also kind of confused on why Theresa wasn't already interested in learning more about the fauna of the planet. By this point they had been there like 2 months. Maybe the early scare withe krixel made her cautious but she also makes a big deal in this book about wanting to feel useful so why wouldn't she try to be useful with the major thing she was brought to this planet for??
There may also just be something finally getting to me about how repetitive these books are. Each woman is slightly different and her own person to some extent but the alien dudes are kind of suffering from a lack of distinction between them. They're a little different but not by much. There isn't really much personality developed for any of them besides one or two things, e.g. Boroudei is level-headed, Taliok is quiet, Fallo is quick to anger, Galok is a bit goofy, etc. Everything else about them is pretty much interchangeably the same. I'm also kind of over how every single dude is SO focused on the women's "soft cunts." Like bro. She has a personality and skills and knowledge and life and so many new things for you to learn and discuss with each other and the only thing any of ya'll can think about is soft skin and vag. Ugh. Then again, maybe that's just the demisexual in me.
I've also been meaning to note something about food for awhile. I've been hoping at some point that they'll figure out something else the humans can eat besides meat because there's no way that's healthy. This book is the first time in this series it was mentioned anyone eating something besides meat and valok and even that was pretty limited.
ANOTHER thing I've been hoping for is that the Lavrika or Kell comes to one of the women to show them the face of their mate. Why is it always the men? Sure, it's been that way for ages, but everything is changing now anyway so why not??
I'd also love to have a book about an alien dude who is not a leader or particularly high ranking. I want a story about the scrawniest sea sand dude. I want a story about the runt. I want a story about the young guy that drops his blade and the older warriors laugh at him. I want one of the women to catch a glimpse of the weirdest weirdo of the bitter seas and go "That's my type." I want to read THAT love story!
Then again, I'd also love a story involving a human woman and alien woman and I suspect this series is strictly hetero. :(
ALSO also also (lol) when is everyone gonna realize that the human women might be experiencing the mate bond but much more slowly? Cause they really do seem to get attached so freaking quickly.
Last but not least, I thought about quitting this series so I took another look at the remaining books. I'm pleased to see there's more non-romantic plot stuff going on because the romantic plot is repetitive as well as a few Bitter Sea bros getting a chance at a mate. Soooo I'll keep trucking on for now. :) Hopefully I won't be too disappointed after this rant lol
First of all, I want to point out that. I really like this type of content. Boating, yachting, sailing, fishing and anything that falls under the concept of a marina.
I leave this information below for those who want to read it. A look at Boat and Yacht History:
the ships we encounter today are; They are large, robust and self-propelled watercraft used to transport cargo across the seas and oceans. This was not the case hundreds of years ago, and current ships went through centuries of development until they became what they are today.
In ancient times, sailors used rafts, bamboo logs, reed bales, inflated animal hides, and baskets covered with pitch to cross small bodies of water.
As a matter of fact, the first boat; it was in the form of a simple frame made of interconnected rods and sewn animal hides that skillfully covered them. These boats could easily carry large and heavy loads. Information about similar old boat examples; You can find it among bull boats, Eskimo canoes, and British Islander merchant ships on the North American plains. In addition to these, another old-style boat is the one carved from the log and the ends of which are sharpened. Some of these were 60 feet (approx. 18 m) long.
When we look at the history of seafaring in ancient times, we come across a very interesting study of human strength and survival instincts. For example, in ancient times, the simple shovel mechanism we know was not used. Instead, people used their hands to move through the water in tiny boats. They propelled their rafts forward, pushing the masts to the bottom of the rivers. Increasingly, using his creative instincts and ingenuity, man redesigned the posts by straightening them and widening one end, thus making it usable in deeper waters. Later, this form was masterfully redeveloped and the blade fixed to the sides of the boat was transformed into the shape of a wide oar.
Invention of the sail The invention of the sail was the greatest turning point in maritime history. Sails replaced human muscle movements, and sailboats were able to travel longer with heavier loads. The first ships used square sails, which were best suited to sail downwind. Side sails were invented later.
The Egyptians credit the emergence of advanced sailing cargo ships. These were made by connecting and stitching together small pieces of wood. These cargo ships were used to transport large stone pillars used in the construction of monuments.
Here are the contents I love about two beautiful marinas.
🧡 “My world has been dark for so long. But now, here you are, with hair like the sun and eyes like young stars. You’ve brought the light back.” ~~~ Theresa is such a wonderful woman! She’s so kind, sweet and caring. I loved how supportive she was of her friends and how genuinely happy she was with their relationships. Even more, I loved that underneath her timid and sweet nature, hides such a bold woman. She’s so amazing!
And Baldor is just the male for her! He’s so strong, fearsome, stubborn, thoughtful, possessive and fiercely protective. And he’s lost so much. Yes, he had to redeem his actions, but I loved that he was willing to change, learn and accept the new ways. Even more, I loved his determination and devotion to win his mate no matter the cost. I mean, who else would offer to tear down the sun?! And that sweet and dirty mouth of his… So, hot!
The development of their relationship was so perfect! The moment they first met was such fun to read! And there was so much tension between the two. It took some time for Theresa to accept Baldor after all the things he did. But their chemistry was amazing and the passion they shared was scorching hot. That moment on the cliffs was an absolute fire! Theresa and Baldor were truly a perfect match and more than deserved to find happiness and love with each other!
In addition, the storyline kept me glued to the pages till the very end. So much is happening, everyone is preparing for war and there were some quite wonderful surprises.
Overall, the story is another phenomenal addition to the series, filled with action, danger, suspense, twists, humor, steamy romance and magnificent characters.
I absolutely loved it and cannot wait to see what happens next!
It was fine for what it was. Theresa was a bit boring and whiney. I swear all her inner thoughts were the same throughout the whole book, both about wanting a family and having been adopted. It got old real fast... and she cried for everything too. I mean I'm an emotional person as well but I felt like that was also the other thing she did way too often... other than that, she was just useless.
As for Baldor.. he was also a one trick pony. He was constantly thinking about Zolinna (his first mate), or how he didn't deserve to have a new one or how he had to protect Theresa because he'd already lost his first mate. It was all very repetitive and it made reading the book a little hard to enjoy.
The thing that really pissed me off though? The fact that Kat is still running experiments on the Lavrika's blood to see what else she can use it for. She's no better than the government that wants this as their new energy/weapon because she's doing the exact same thing, all the while stupidly doing it from the ship where the information is no doubt relayed up to the other ship still in orbit. I swear for as smart as the author is trying to make these women, they are all just plain stupid. To use this sacred blood in such a way is just plain insulting. Everything Kat is doing right now is exactly what the other humans would do but oh it's justified because she wants to protect everyone... Right. She never once has stopped to think about what the aliens think about all this, what the Lavrika would think about her using the gift of its blood for a weapon or something else. She's basically spitting in the natives' faces as well as desecrating their deity.

Series: Fated Mates of the Sea Sand Warlords #6 Rating: 2 stars - It was ok
One by one, Therese has watched her friend fall for the alien warriors and she is happy for them. But she also can’t help feeling jealous because she really wants a mate too. All she has ever wanted is a loving partner so she can start building the family of her dreams, but she doesn’t expect that partner to be an enemy Gahan.
I’ll be honest, while Theresa has been a background character that has popped up a few times in this series, I didn’t really feel an urge to get to know her. After reading this story I found her to just be an ok character who got a bit annoying at times. She constantly is thinking or talking about pregnancy and babies, which I know is her dream, but I found it to be annoying after the first time it was mentioned.
Baldor was a man who has experienced loss and is determined to protect Therese. Because of this he agrees to ally himself with the others, even though he attacked them. I found Baldor to be just ok. I liked how protective and sweet he was with Therese, but I also found him to be a bit boring. While their relationship was fine overall, I think I just wasn't interested in either of these characters and got a bit bored.
While I didn’t love this, I am interested in seeing what will happen next with the last tribe and with the potential upcoming battle against the human military.
TW: death of a mate discussed; animal injuries; violence, blood, and injuries; pregnancy and vomiting;
great book, done w/ book 6 off to read the next! Book 7 Earth government has abducted women young college girls in a “forced” suicide mission to an alien dessert planet, to learn about their strange resources. They want to take it from them. However the primitive barbarian like males are not gonna just say sure, go ahead, take our sacred life giving dragon milk energy source. So instead of sending scientific or military trained professionals. The earth government kidnaps young professional women to get reconnaissance information with no intention or care as to whether the women survive or not. Why only, women you ask well.. the barbarians are probably less likely to kill them since they have so few of their own. But the sacred creature of this planet like a dragon god… has predicted the women to be mates for the primitive race. And could save their species and bring them together. This is an earth abduction, alien fated mate romance. I was not triggered by anything in this book although there is some violence. Warriors will be warriors and they will fight to the death for their pretty earth mates These aliens have tails, claws, talons, and unusual genitalia which is used in some very interesting ways to please the earth girls. This lol is like Conan the barbarian, meets land of the lost .. meets earth girls are easy. Lol Now I’m off to get the next in series
'Straight ahead of me the packed red plains shattered into stones. Beyond those stones, great waves crashed, the darkness of the Bitter Sea looming like a beast in the dusk-bitten light.'
Ursa Dax is an incredibly poetic writer. I read and love her books, not just for the phenomenal world building and epic love stories, but also the masterful way she uses words. In Alien Hunter we return to the earth women stranded on an alien planet and living with badass kanga-men warriors. There are five tribes of the sea sands, and they're usually at war with one another. A mythic being, the Lavrika, is summoning men, one at a time and revealing the face of their true mate. Unlucky for Theresa, her mate is Gahn Baldor, the leader of a tribe by the Bitter Sea and he's planning to take her by force.
A brutal attack takes place and Theresa's horrified to discover that she's the cause of it. Baldor may be consumed with love for her, but she feels nothing but confusion and fury towards him. He now has to work for her love and prove that he can give her everything she has always dreamed of.
As with all the books in this series, Alien Hunter gives you action, drama and high heat. If you like heroes that put a capital A in alpha then you need to read this book!
Theresa is happy for her friends that have been blessed with mates but she does wish that she could find something of that happiness for herself as well. She's not averse to being with one of the Sea Sand warriors but she doesn't think that she has one. In the meantime she wants to make herself useful. She has no particular skills to help with finding out what the off-planet humans are trying to do but she was a vet tech so being able to stitch up wounds and help in a healer role is at least something. Especially when it seems like a war just broke out outside the compound with one of the Gahns from near the Bitter Sea. Enter one Gahn Baldor and Theresa's mate. He has been gifted a miracle he believes as he lost his first mate without ever knowing the joys as he was travelling back from seeing the Lavrika when she was lost. He has lived with the pain and guilt ever since. Having a second chance bestowed on him, even if this new mate is so strange, is more than he believes he is worth. Without the mate bond though how is he to win this female and how can he keep her safe when she seems perfectly capable of being without him! I have loved each and very one of these Sea Sand books. I love the idea of the Lavrika, the descriptions of the land around them and the culture. Fab!
We have our main character, who is more naive, virginly, she wants to be a mother and really wants a ~mate~ (her name is also Theresa lol) I honestly didn’t hate her but sometimes I felt like her actions didn’t align with her personality, it felt like conflict was being manufactured in. Like yes she objects to the violence that ? Brings, but she pretty quickly gets over it and also he surrenders pretty early on so it just feels like their initial conflict is flimsy. I felt like they could’ve had a more interesting relationship dynamic but this book just kinda phoned it in
Another contrived third act conflict with this sand storm (which I like! It’s creative!) but the way they have these two get trapped in it feels so unnecessary.
Also Baldor’s trauma with losing his first mate I feel is not fully incorporated at all !! It could’ve added a really interesting dynamic with Theresa being so excited and willing, and then Baldor being the hesitant party this time, instead of the usual pattern of these books with the alien being head over heels immediately! But instead it’s just like … a little footnote that makes him ~extra protective~ but like not even because they ALL are so it’s just boringgggg
This book definitely had a few good moments. I found myself enjoying some of the scenes quite a bit, but I also found myself growing bored and skimming a lot of the chapters. I truly couldn't care less about the girls friendships with each other... I find their conversations underwhelming to say the least. The author does this thing where she adds what I would call catch up chapters... where we've just finished following the MC's for a couple of chapters and gotten progress/development within the story/relationship, but then the MFC comes back to the settlement/new women's tent and basically catches up all her friends on everything that's just happened… Everything that we just read about. These chapters feel like filler to me and I find them incredibly boring. I don't need to read about the same thing twice within the same book, it's not exciting. Lastly, I found ALL the spicy scenes in this particular instalment super cringy.
All that being said, I really do like this series as a whole. I've read all 15 books and I can say they only get better, as does the authors writing. Out of the 15 books published and read I have only not cared for 2. This book being one of them. Yes this was a reread for me. My first attempt (well over a year ago ended in a dnf) I thought I'd give it another go. Still didn't like it lol! =)
Anyways, read the series, it's good. Just not so much this book.
This is Theresa and Baldor's story. Theresa was a foster home child all she has ever wanted was to belong, be accepted and be loved! She wants to be the mate of a Sea sand warrior. Umm she just never thought it would be to an invading warrior! Baldor 's clan lives closer to th bitter sea but he has dreamed of his strange alien mate and he will do whatever it takes to find her and keep her. Even go to war with the other tribes. What he doesn't count on is the strength of the United tribe and a few warriors from the Bitter Sea itself ones he's never seen before. The battle is short but he agrees to listen to the other Ghans and get to know his Theresa. It takes bit of time for Theresa to forgive him for attacking the people she sees as her family. As they get to know one another most of their pasts are revealed and they realize they are not so different. There is just enough danger and tension to drive the excitement of the story and plenty of beautiful moments and passionate ones. Loved this installment! Off to the next highly recommend💖🔥💖💖🔥💖💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥🔥💖🔥💖💖💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥🔥💖🔥💖💖💖💖💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖
I knew this one wouldn’t be my favorite because there was a dead mate situation.
So Baldor was of course obsessed with Theresa and cared for her but I just didn’t love that he mentioned his other mate a lot. Like of course he deserved love again and there would be comparisons, but it’s just not a personal favorite trope of mine.
So he never got to even be with his first mate after finding out they were destined, but they were childhood friends and slept together before. So he’s grief stricken to this day.
My other issue was how it was a big deal yet not. Theresa doesn’t ever have jealousy over it?! I mean, kudos to her, but I’m surprised there wasn’t even one second of jealousy. She accepts it almost instantly and after he tells her the story, they’re making out. I wanted more moments of him assuring her their love is different and that he’s moved on. We sort of see it in his thoughts but I wish he’d verbalized it more.
Other than that, it’s similar to the others. The plot moves along very slowly since it’s a long series, but I find myself still wanting to read who will fall to the mate bond next!

When I read this book the first time, I was disappointed in the MMC. I kept waiting for him to be more like the last three MMCs. But this time, I had the proper expectations and I think he's just fine the way he is. He is rougher around the edges, more like Gahn Fallo but not so reckless. He's been through loss and it seems to have made him insensitive at times, which makes the MFC the perfect match for him. She is soft-hearted and kind but not a pushover.
There are some great awkward moments in the beginning. She needs to avoid the sun so he offers her a sort of umbrella,
“Frankly, I’d rather burn until my skin peels than stand in the centre of this settlement with the naked enemy Gahn holding his loincloth over my head one second longer.”
He actually had thoughts like these in the beginning of the story,
“Then she would have seen my cock’s full power and would have no doubt fallen to her knees before it.”
He is so arrogant and oblivious in the beginning, it's hilarious. The author did a great job of creating him to be distinct from the other gahns. She maintains his brashness while also softening him just enough by the MFC.
The stories in this world have been fantastic reads with Alien Hunter book #6 now added to the exclusive club. An enticing story soon follows with Great writing, adventure and detailed world building without a doubt making this narrative another awesome read in this fabulous series!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
My review is for the plot and world building. I love the interconnecting theme. The plot is really good. The Lavrika's effect on the male and not the female is hilarious.
Even though there's not much angst with these characters due to Theresa's acceptance and desire, it still was a perfect addition to the world building.
Now the not so great parts. There are some typos that should have been caught. That's not my main issue.
My main issue is these are non-Earth males. They are not man, woman. But the language used by the aliens uses man. This is throughout all the books.
Also, I can't imagine they have the same names for their genitals. I really hate the c-word for the women parts. It is especially jarring to see the non-Earth males using it. Plus their own sex organs surely aren't also called c**k. And in the previous book with Kor, his definitely was different as it was hidden and has to extrude.
So the language needed some serious work. I can't believe beta readers didn't point this out.
It was the same exact plot as the previous four. I thought it would be different, since Theresa actually WANTED a mate, but nope. She was like “I want a mate so much… Oh, but not that one, I don’t like him, can I give him back?” Only to flip a switch and now she can only think of boinking him. And two days later, she’s in love. At least I didn’t hate him, and his motivations made some sense, though at first I thought he was gonna be another Fallo, and then I wouldn’t have been mad that Theresa rejected his ass. But he was mostly OK. And of course the next book is gonna be about the only other woman who seems to exist now, Jocelyn, who was just named in this story. Six books and there only seem to be six women, now seven. Yet we’re told they’re like twenty. I would be more invested if at least we’d learned their names. Anyway, I got the next five or six books for free, and so far they are short, easy to read, and entertaining, so I will continue for the next few books and see what happens. This one had more typos, though.
This installment of the Sea Sand Warlords was a little different from the rest. While the first several books had a lot of humor and sexual tension, this book had a lot of long running grief. However, that isn’t a bad thing.
I enjoyed seeing a different side to the characters in this world. A FMC who wanted a mate but struggled to accept the one who was chosen for her. Being wronged in the past made her a bit jaded. A MMC who’s precious loss has made him wary and worrying that he wouldn’t be enough. But still ready to do anything to protect and win his mate.
Seeing the two of them struggle to find common group and come together was refreshing because it felt more like a real life relationship. When they finally did put all the past aside it was beautiful. The love they had for each other was palpable.
I really enjoyed this book and am curious to see where this series continues to go.
