This is a story of two childhood friends, who were the most important person in the other’s life.
They were just two friends who dreamed of conquering the world and drink wine together at the Lake Chao, and yet sorrow and death didn’t save them.
Sun Ce and Zhou Yu lived a complex friendship in a turbulent world: from childhood friends, equals I dare say, to zhougong and subordinate to generals who often argued with each other to two tired souls who didn’t have the time to recompose themselves from the sorrow that misunderstandings and miscommunication brought (or maybe it was just them who didn’t take the chance to talk open-heartedly once and for all) and found themselves too ashamed of their pride by now but still would like to reconcile to each other, even though it’s too late. Just two hearts entangled with each other that didn’t dare say what they really feel, just like if there was a wall. But this wall was built by themselves.
And then the only things remained are sorrow, regrets and melancholy.
Sun Ce’s downfall was the most heartbreaking thing to read. From a carefree youth who always smiled to a zhugong who wore a facade, even when he stayed with his most precious person (at least, as Zhou Yu said). And yet, inside of him there was still a little bit of warm for this person that came out just when he was at his limit and left only bittersweetness. This way however we got to know that his affection has never faded…it was just him who suppressed it in order to had his duty, aim and righteousness as a commander prevail.
On the other hand, Zhou Yu has ALWAYS acted thinking of Sun Ce’s well-being, even thought it meant to endure his anger or coldness and ups and downs. He cherished him and suffered so much so that he himself said “but my souls has grown already old” even ten years after Sun Ce’s death because of all the pressure, burden and knot in his heart and throat throughout all of these years. A knot that couldn’t be loosen and got his most sincere and warm words stuck into his throat. Now all of these consumed his heart and his will of living and he left this world all alone: he was the only one left behind.
Speaking of the ending, I felt like there was a hint of hope and positivity T-T. After several years of sorrows, wars, misunderstandings…there was still a hope living into the hearts of two unknown youth with a never-seen falcon and kite, THE kite, on their hands. There was no need of anything else.
However, I’m so glad they had a second chance and they were reborn in a world they could finally be at ease in and where they could sincerely enjoy and express themselves (just like Sun Ce living his youthful behavior without having to deal with wars, strategies and commanding)

I constantly think about this book... like constantly. I compare it with other tragedies, I rethink my life choices when I chose to read this book, I lose sleep thinking about it. GOD. I think this is a 5 star book. The absolute sadness and depression from this book makes me cry, I feel like this book had a lot of "what if's";
what if Sun Ce never became the commander he was born to be
what if their subordinate-superior relationship never got in the way of their friendship
what if they actually communicated
what IF THEY DIDN'T HAVE A BAD ENDING?!
Its a very bittersweet feeling every time I read this book, and I always feel like theres something missing; if only they hadn't been bound by their fate of becoming who they are... but then there would be no story
whenever i'm too happy, i go listen to the audio drama intro song, then i think about their story, then i cry, then im no longer happy :D

FEI TIAN YE XIAN. He never fails to deliver.
-Going in, I didn't know anything about Three Kingdoms, so I kinda just read it like a normal book... But i can imagine that some of the characters being OOC
Everything was amazing amazing - this left me in shock and the whole entire last chapter... holy cow! I was in goosebumps, it was so so.. amazing- i do not have words to describe the feelings i had when i was reading it.
I do wish this was a little bit longer, mostly to let us linger in the tragedy, but i do think fei tian knew actually what he was doing, so i'll read the extras and hope it heals me a little :sob:

Fei Tian, Fei Tian, Fei Tian… ah, cómo te quiero, hombre.
Los dos jades de Jiangdong trata sobre dos hombres fuertes que deben enfrentarse a grandes batallas cuando el imperio es azotado por “traidores”. En realidad, si conocen algo sobre la historia de Los Tres Reinos en China, es fácil saber de qué va. Yo, honestamente, no sabía nada, pero básicamente es historia y política… mucha política. Aun así, el centro principal es la relación de amistad entre Sun Ce y nuestro MC, Zhou Yu, y cómo esta se va desarrollando a medida que pasan los años.
Primero los vemos conociéndose y odiándose un poco, luego volviéndose inseparables, y después afrontando duros retos que los llevan a separarse por un tiempo. La historia de estos dos se me hizo fascinante, sobre todo porque, aunque nunca hubo nada explícito, se notaba el amor que se tenían, tal vez un poco más de un lado que del otro. Admito que hubo un momento en el que pensé: “wow, Sun Ce no se merece a Zhou Yu”, pero para el final entendí que cada uno tuvo sus propias tribulaciones y que, aunque a veces no actuaron de la mejor manera, intentaron encontrar cómo afrontarlas.
Ellos dos se ganaron un espacio enorme en mi corazón. En los días que estuve leyendo esta novela, me reí con ellos, lloré con ellos y hasta recé para que todo les saliera bien, jajaja… y eso que ya tenía spoilers. El final, aunque las fans del danmei lo catalogan como Bad Ending, en realidad fue como debía ser: doloroso, pero real. Además, era algo que se veía venir conforme avanzaba la historia y, bueno, está basada en hechos reales, no hay mucho más que decir.
Al principio casi no leo los extras; menos mal que lo hice, porque de verdad fueron una curita al alma después de todo lo que tuvieron que vivir. Si les gusta la historia y las novelas bien construidas, la recomiendo totalmente. Si solo están buscando una pareja BL, entonces no la recomiendo.
