Lyla Moody and her book club, the Jane Does, are hosting a Halloween party at Magnolia Manor, tailored after Agatha Christie’s A Murder is Announced, but when the lights come on after the staged murder, a real victim lies dead with a gunshot wound in her chest. The victim was an estranged relative of Elaine Morgan, operator of the B&B, who’d earlier been seen arguing with her about the fate of the property. Suspicion immediately falls on Elaine, and she’s arrested.

The Jane Does believe Elaine is innocent, and when they get the chance to team up with police officer Rosa Landry—a member of the club—they jump on it. But then, the club discovers that two more murders have been brazenly predicted online and in the Sweet Mountain Gazette—and that one of the intended victims is Rosa.

Lyla thinks she knows who the killer is, but the only way to find out is by laying a trap using Rosa as bait. But, like an Agatha Christie mystery, the truth is never what it seems. Lyla and her trusty book club will have to sleuth out the killer before Rosa meets her final chapter.

When Lyla Moody and her fellow book club members - the Jane Does - arrived at the B&B that was hosting the Halloween party which followed one of Agatha Christie's stories, she didn't expect the elderly Elaine Morgan - owner of the B&B - to be in a verbal fight with a relative, one whom PI Lyla had worked a case against. When the staged murder was over and the lights back on, a woman lay on the floor, bleeding to death. "I'm sorry" were her last words to Lyla before she died.

With Elaine arrested and the Jane Does sure of her innocence, Lyla worked hard to find evidence of the real killer. When Chief Quinn arrived back from his honeymoon to find utter chaos in his Sweet Mountain town, he found himself on the back foot. But Lyla continued her plan - she was sure she knew who the killer was, but could she prove it?

Crime for the Books is the 3rd in the Jane Doe Bookclub Mystery by Kate Young and it was fast paced and electric! I thoroughly enjoyed it, and believe it's the best yet in the series. Lyla's dogged determination couldn't be faulted, her belief in her good friends steadfast. I'm looking forward to #4 in the series very much. Highly recommended.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

This is the first Jane Doe Book Club mystery I've read and I enjoyed it. I was looking for a good cozy and noticed the cute cover on this one, so I picked it up. The book club holds a murder mystery Halloween party baed on one of Agatha Christie's mysteries. When the lights are turned on after the staged mystery, someone has been truly murdered! One of the book club members, Lyla Moody -a PI in training at her uncle's business - takes the lead for the book club in trying to determine what really happened at the party and who is behind the murder. She wants to make sure the sweet older lady, Elaine Morgan, who owns and operates the Bed and Breakfast where the venue was held, doesn't get framed for the murder.

This mystery was complex with a lot of various leads to follow. I enjoyed the pursuit of the truth. Lyla is a good character, and I might pick up the earlier books to read. There were some good twists and a few surprises. The book kept me interested following the plot.

Thanks to Crooked Lane Books through Netgalley for an advance copy. This book will be published October 11, 2022.

I enjoyed reading Crime for the Books, a Jane Doe Book Club Mystery. Lyla Moody is the main character who lives in the town of Sweet Mountain, Georgia. She works for her uncle for Cousin's Investigative Services, Inc. as a receptionist and PI. A Mystery party fundraiser for the book Club is planned for Halloween. Elaine has offered her home, Magnolia Manor for the event. Elaine's cousin, Patricia Donaldson took Elaine to court about Elaine's inheritance of Magnolia Manor. While putting on the mystery party with all the players with the lights out and then on they discover the body of Patricia shot. This is where the story takes off with all kinds of strange things starting to happen making it confusing for Lyla to figure out who killed Patricia, etc. I will leave the adventure of the story for the readers to figure out. and enjoy with all the twists and turns.

Thank you NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for this ARC.

This is a gripping cozy mystery with lots of twists and turns.

Young does a fantastic job of demonstrating how impactful a murder and the investigations that follow it can be on a small community, from the witnesses to those accused of the crime. The book also explores the possibility of police misconduct and how it can negatively impact investigations and community trust. These are both serious and dramatic topics that can happen in real life too, which makes the cozy more serious than others I've read. However, the book was still cozy at its core. I felt the drama really added to the suspense and realism of the novel.

The suspense builds right away because the book immediately places you into the mystery. However, it's not a fast-paced book throughout, as some parts of the book can seem slow in contrast, especially if you're not interested in the other plot line involving Lyla's love life.

At times, I felt quite frustrated with Lyla and her unwillingness to consider certain possibilities, even if it seems quite clear to us as observers or to other characters. Lyla's not perfect and I liked that not all of the characters agreed with her. Some actually pushed back against her at several points. I think my frustration points to how talented Young is, because of how strong my frustration was, but I can see others becoming so frustrated with her that they put down the book or begin actively rooting for her to be wrong.

I haven't read the previous books in the series and I still enjoyed this one, so I think it'd work as a standalone. I'd recommend it for anyone who likes some drama and suspense in their cozies.

Thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for providing me with an ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ -- Great cover on this one!

So before I start my little rant, I will say that I read the previous book in this series (and enjoyed it) and again, I enjoyed this book 3. It isn't a cozy. It's a regular mystery disguising as a cozy (😂), but It was an engaging book that kept me hooked throughout.

SOOO...as much as I enjoyed this one, there were a lot of things that left me annoyed and confused. First, I was convinced I missed a book somewhere. The book opens with Quinn off on his honeymoon with Courtney (of all people). They weren't even dating in the previous book! And Lyla and Brad are pretty much over, and they JUST meet (I believe) and started dating in the previous book. 🧐 Which brings me to my second annoyance...there was just way too much relationship drama in this book. I have said this a million times: I hate relationship angst in my cozy mysteries. And no only was it angst, it was 'Brad is a cheating douche" angst! Oh, he says nothing happened, but we all know it did. 😏 Which leads in to my third and final annoyance. Everyone in this book acted like pod people. It was like aliens sucked up the people from the previous books and dropped people with completely new personalities in their place. It was bizarre, to say the least. 😵

I know it sounds like I hated this book, but despite all the above, I still liked it. I'll definitely check out book three to see what happens with these characters next.

Halloween is on its way, which is the perfect time for Lyla Moody and her Jane Doe book club friends to hold a themed party, while Sweet Mountain's Magnolia Manor is the ideal location. The owner of the beautiful bespoke B&B, Elaine Morgan, is also Lyla's client at Cousins Investigative Services and is delighted to offer her home's use as a thank you for the help she had received.

As the party is based around the classic Agatha Christie novel A Murder is Announced no one is surprised when the lights flicker, they are plunged into darkness, and shots are fired. When the lights go back up however there are two guests on the floor and one of them is about to breathe their last. With the local police chief on his honeymoon, Sergeant Landry is taking the lead on a serious investigation for the first time, but something is up with Rosa and her decision making is compromised. A second death makes some things a little clearer but others far more complicated and when it becomes apparent others are still in danger Lyla and her friends know they need to up their game if a further tragedy is to be averted.

In this third Jane Doe story friendships and relationships are quite strongly set but there are changes happening. The four friends have strong personalities and putting them alongside Lyla's very excitable Gran, and the police chief's slightly neurotic new wife means there's never a dull moment even when they aren't in the middle of investigating an unexplained death together.

I thoroughly enjoyed this as I have the previous two books. Hopefully there will be more to come from Lyla and her companions and if there is I will definitely be right at the front of the queue.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own opinion. This is a great book which I am happy to recommend .

I enjoyed Crime for the Books, which is about the Jane Doe book club.
This time one of their own is being accused of murder, and the investigation and back story is quite interesting.
I did find a few parts to be a little confusing, but that didn't take away from the storyline.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.

The Jane Doe book club finds itself in a mess when a member of their club, Elaine, has a murder take place at her place of business, and another member, Rosa, seems to lose her mind. The victim is a distant relative of Elaine’s, and Rosa is the police officer in charge of the investigation; things get crazy when the evidence points to Elaine as the killer, and Rosa is out to prove it.

Characters in this series are fully developed with all the characteristics you would expect from a series that has only three books under its mantel. Lyla, Rosa, and all the others in The Jane Doe book club are wonderful, with each member contributing to the overall feeling of friendship and family. Crime for the Books adds more background to the setting and the characters and makes readers want to go back and read the other books in the series again.

The victim isn’t known by many of the Jane Doe club, and she is not well-liked by those who know her. She causes massive trouble for Elaine and even argued with her just before she was killed. Evidence is sprinkled throughout the book and is easy to find. However, the killer is difficult to find, and the reason for this may cause some disgruntlement for some readers. I had issues with some of the twists in this story. There were just a few too many, and some of the evidence was iffy at best. I did not like the way Rosa was portrayed. She was a strong character in the past two books, but seemed weak and useless in this one. I felt the relationship issues between Lyla and Brad were completely wrong on every level. Lyla was too cold and unfeeling, and Brad was too easily persuaded to give up.

Crime for the Books, although a generally good book, this was not one of my favorites. I did not enjoy it as much as I expected to. The Jane Doe book club is still the best part of this series, and hopefully, Rosa will be back to her lovable hard police officer self in the next one. I recommend readers start at the beginning of this series in order to understand who the players are and how their personalities and quarks play in the overall scheme.

In this cozy mystery, the pace was fast, the story was well written, and the characters were engaging.

In this edition is a female investigator who is not just an amateur sleuth, but actually a private investigator who works closely with the police. There was a lot of realism in the characters and there was a lot of development in the story. A particularly lovely addition was the Halloween theme. Crime for the Books is a staged murder mystery based on an Agatha Christie book. I knew it would be enjoyable.

This book was provided to me by NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books. This is an honest review.

2 1/2 stars. A Halloween mystery with plenty twists and turns that will keep you guessing and thrilled to the end. Agatha Christie fans will have fun because it all starts off with a party based on A Murder is Announced.

There is a big cast here that can get a bit confusing at times but overall it is easy to follow. There are some big developments in a relationship in this book that carries over from earlier books in the series so if you haven't read them it won't have the emotional impact it would other wise but the reader can easily follow what is going on. Without going into details for it would give out spoilers, there were facets of the book that deal with a touchy subject for me but I would not say that there are triggers in this book. However, that did affect some of reading pleasure.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in return for an honest review.

Crime For The Books is the third in the Jane Doe Book Club' Mystery series. In this one the club sets up a murder mystery party inspired by Agatha Christie and A Murder is announced, their latest book club pick. When an actual murder takes place at the party suspicion falls on a couple different people, especially after someone near and dear to Lyla begins acting very unlike their normal self. Lyla has to follow the clues herself before more people get hurt.

The story opens with a rainstorm which I loved but the first twenty percent of the story started a little slowly for me. That might be due to this being the first one I have read in the series. But that didn't matter because soon after, crazy things started to happen and the story became wildly entertaining.

Strange behavior, creepy murder announcements, conflicting testimony. It was all fun. Speaking of fun, so are the characters. Lyla's grandmother is delightful. Her dialogue was hilarious and a treat. Their relationship is very sweet.

There is a quite a bit of realism in this book., and I'm guessing the series. Lyla has a perfect reason for investigating and I like how she works with law enforcement. This ended up a very quick read for me and I look forward to more in the series. I think fans of Agatha Christie will enjoy Crime For The Books.

Thank you to Netgalley for the chance to read. All opinions are my own. Crime For The Books will be published October 11.

After reading the first two books, this newest edition was unfortunately disappointing. On the part of the mystery, I liked the idea of involving Rosa more in with the plot. I loved her addition to the previous book, and it felt like a good move for Lyla to have a more positive connection to the police with Sheriff Quinn and her complicated past. However, there was a lot here that felt too complicated and yet boring at the same time. There are a lot of characters and suspects to the point where I just didn’t think I could connect to anyone. Also, all the romantic elements just felt unnecessarily dramatic. We get the very quick introduction to Courtney as Quinn’s new wife when they weren’t even dating last book. So, Quinn and Courtney have issues that Lyla unknowingly gets involved with. Then, we also get drama with Lyla and Brad. It was just a lot for one book. And although the book was longer than normal, it still felt like everything was being crammed in. It seemed like we were given a bird’s eye view of three books instead of one, and so I never felt centered into the one story. Also, this is the third book with an Agatha Christie theme. When the series was introduced, it seemed more like the club would be involved with true crime and advocating for Jane Does. All the fictional references seem unrelated to what the book presents itself as. That added onto a pretty obvious whodunnit made me give the book a lower rating. I will probably continue to read the series, in hopes it will get better again, but if this is the new tone of the series, I don’t think it’s for me,

Words to the wise: Don't start reading this one late at night. You won't be able to put it down. The tensions and unease in the air kept me reading long past my bedtime.

I won't delve into the plot as a synopsis is readily available elsewhere, but will say "Crime for the Books" is enjoyable in the sense that it isn't predictable. Not only is the murder mystery itself intriguing and well plotted, but the characters show depth and, surprisingly for a cozy mystery, aren't always on the same page. The friends, tight friends Lyla, Mel, Amelia, and Rosa, who finds herself under tremendous pressure and stress, care about each other and have each other's back, however, even when they keep secrets from each other. Lyla's grandmother Daisy provides some comic relief, at first appearing the rather stereotyped feisty ol' lady, but later displays layers of caring and putting that caring into action, adding depth to her personality. To be honest, I found the side-story involving Lyla's boyfriend more distracting than interesting but others may be intrigued. It was the relationships between those involved that made the story work for me.

Not to give away any plot twists but a few hints: Who killed Patricia? Why does she whisper that she's sorry as she dies? What is going on with Rosa? Why are even her fellow officers doubting her? What is Courtney's problem? What secret is Mel keeping from Lyla? And, whoa, how about the big secret Amelia reveals? Why is a strange guy hitting on Lyla? How do Lyla's investigative skills prove helpful? Could things not be as they seem? Or, could people not be what they seem? Would you attend a murder mystery party on the proverbial "dark and stormy night," even if the weather was a random act of nature? Why is Lyla reluctant to call police chief Quinn, an old friend? And, oh, so many more question, ranging from what the heck is going on with Brad to the community reaction to the discord. Seriously, if you like small town mysteries, unpredictable ones at that, and friends who stick by each other no matter what, you'll enjoy this one. Give it a read.

Thanks #NetGalley and #CrookedLaneBooks for allowing me to drop in on the Jane Does again. It's been awhile but I'm already looking forward to the next adventure.

This is the series that you should be ready! A cozy mystery with a strong investigative female who isn't just an amateur sleuth, but an actual private investigator who ends up collaborating with the police department. Excellent characters that are well developed and so realistic that you just want to be one of them rather than just read about them. In this book, one of their own is being dragged through the muck and it's up to Lyla and crew to dig to find the truth before they lose her completely. The characters are strong, independent women and men who are good at their jobs, have strong friendships and relationships even when they don't quite work out. While it is a wonderful cozy mystery series, I would say that it is a bit more in tune with realism than most and makes this series the one you should be reading. I absolutely cannot wait to read what comes next for Lyla and her band of friends!

“Crime for the Books” by Kate Young this is the 3rd instalment in the "A Jane Doe Book Club Mystery" series. OMG! I really enjoyed this story and think I liked even better than the first two. This has become one of my favourite series!

Lyla Moody and her book club, the Jane Does, are hosting a Halloween party at Magnolia Manor, tailored after Agatha Christie’s A Murder is Announced, but when the lights come on after the staged murder, a real victim lies dead with a gunshot wound in her chest.

I found myself engrossed in the story and reading till the wee hours as I had to finish. It was suspenseful, and had me on the edge of my seat. I found it had just the right mixture of everything.

This go around we are more focused on Sergeant Rosa Landry and why she is acting strange and proving Elaine didn’t murder of her cousin. The mystery was interesting, well plotted, and full of twists and turns as well as a few surprises that kept me on the edge of my seat.

I am so looking forward to seeing more in this series

I highly recommend this series to all my mystery loving friends.

This is the third book in the series and my first. I was able to read as a stand alone. I'll definitely be reading the beginning of the series and any future books. I really enjoyed the mystery and following the clues. I had no idea who did it. I liked that the main character is a PI herself. Doing her own investigation and knowing what the police know.

I LOVE the theme of this book and the fun party setting. However, the writing style isn't my favorite. I find the relationships between the characters to be a little too dramatic for my personal taste. You can't beat the fun setting, though! The mystery had a strong conclusion too.

I really enjoy all of the Jane Doe mysteries, but this is my favorite because it gave me such insight into the characters and their interactions with each other. The plot includes several murders as well as one of the Jane Doe club members being a suspect. The plot is intricately woven with several nicely added twists to keep it engaging. I enjoyed Lyla’s role as a leader in the club and in pursuing the killer relentlessly and I especially enjoyed her Gran who is a humorous hoot, full of vim, vigor and mischief. This is a fun cozy mystery with no vivid descriptions that would make me ill but enough details to let me imagine the scenes. The characters are credible and fully invested in the carrying out their roles in the plot. This is a great story with a fast pace that kept me reading to find out whodunit. I guessed incorrectly several times, but that was part of the fun. Although this book is part of a series, it can definitely be read as a standalone and thoroughly enjoyed.

The third book in the Jane Doe Book Club series, "Crime for the Books" finds Lyla and her book club friends hosting a murder mystery party in the vein of Agatha Christie's "A Murder is Announced." When a real murder takes place during the event, things go from bad to worse in the little town of Sweet Mountain,

This was a good story and nice addition to the series. I liked the direction Lyla took for the most part... she seemed more confident and self aware. Some more prominent characters from previous books felt a bit pushed to the side, so I hope they return more in future books. A couple of the twists felt off to me and I ended up with some questions at the end, but all in all a good read.

Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for the complimentary digital review copy of this title.

Lyla Moody is a PI in training at her uncle's business, Moody Investigations. She is also a member of the Jane Does Book Club, who read a different book each week and then meet to discuss it. But this evening the club is hosting a Halloween party based on Agatha Christie's A Murder Is Announced, and it's themed right down to costumes from the 1950s. When the lights go out, Lyla hears four shots, not three, and when they come on again, she spies Patricia Richardson dying from a gunshot wound. She'd seen Patricia threaten her cousin Elaine Morgan earlier, with a gun in her hand. But now -- this death is definitely a real murder, and the person who is running the investigation is Rosa Landry, because her boss is on his honeymoon.

But all is not what it seems, not even in Lyla's personal life. And she has to decide how to solve the murder and keep Rosa out of harm's way, especially when it's apparent she's targeted as a future victim. Using Rosa as bait, she only hopes she'll be able to save her life -- and maybe her own, too...

This is the third book in the series, and unfortunately, it didn't resonate with me at all. I didn't really care for Lyla this time out; she seemed harder and not as bright as in the last two books. I also didn't understand where the marriage of Courtney and Quinn came in when they weren't even dating in the last book. How much time did we lose between the two, and why wasn't this explained?

There were just too many characters this time around, and I have a hard time believing that the police will involve a civilian in their 'stings.' Nothing like getting sued by the family if something goes wrong. Although the involvement of Rosa was a nice touch, she too seemed a bit timid for a police officer, and never really managed to take charge of her investigation.

Then there is Lyla's personal life which made me say 'what???'

But then the plot got confusing. There were too many threads and it took too long to put them together, and even if you did, there was still something else going on. By the time I got to the end I really didn't care anymore. I absolutely loved the first two books in this series, but this one was definitely missing something, and when it ended, I was left feeling there should have been more.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley but this in no way influenced my review.

Fall and Halloween themed cozy mysteries are my favorite books to relax with at the end of a long day or while reclining on the soft sand by the ocean as my son frolics in the waves. So, when I saw Crime for the Books was centered around an Agatha Christie themed Halloween party and a staged murder mystery gone wrong, I just knew I’d enjoy it. This is the first Jane Doe Book Club Mystery I have read, but it won’t be my last. It’s an easy book to read, but it draws the reader in, nonetheless. If you like mysteries, Halloween, and fictional cozy small towns, and a bit of humor thrown in, I recommend this book to you.

This is the third release in the new cozy series "Jane Doe Book Club" by cozy author Kate Yound. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity. My review opinion is my own.

This has a fun Halloween party them with a murder mystery party in a mansion. When the party is over a real murder has occured and our savvy protaganist Lyla and her book club pals are on the case. Through red herrrings, numerous clues and dead ends Lyla soon has the killer in her sights. I enjoyed the well crafted fun mystery . The ending was a pleasing conclusion. The characters are richly drawn . A enjoyable cozy series that never disappoints .

I really enjoyed this mystery. I like that Lyla is a competent investigator and that she is trusted by the police to help with their investigations; too often in cozies, the sleuth is always discouraged from sleuthing (with good reason). The twists and turns of this particular case were fascinating and though I figured out quite early on who the murderer was, there were parts of the solution I didn’t see coming. Highly recommended but read this one is order (or at least read the second one before this one).

Lyla Moody and her book club, the Jane Does, are hosting a Halloween party at Magnolia Manor, tailored after Agatha Christie’s A Murder is Announced. When the lights come on after the staged murder, a real victim lies dead with a gunshot wound in her chest. The victim was a relative of Elaine Morgan, operator of the B&B, who’d earlier been seen arguing with her about the fate of the property. Suspicion falls on Elaine, and she’s arrested. Believing Elaine is innocent, the Jane Does team up with police officer Rosa Landry, who’s a member of the club, to find the truth.
This was a good cozy mystery to read on a rainy night in front of a roaring fireplace. It was suspenseful and the plot kept me guessing until the very end. I felt there were too many suspects and side characters. I was confused about some of the relationships between them. Lastly, some of the language used seemed inappropriate. I really believe that a writer doesn’t have to use curse words, there are so many other words in the English language to use. I want to thank Crooked Lane Books and NetGalley for this advanced reader’s copy. This review is my unbiased opinion.

I guess it's good to give a series another try, even if a previous book in it didn't ring your bell. I tried Book 1 of this series, and I didn't get very far in it. Looking back at my notes, I had legit gripes (to me)...it wasn't just a case of "not my cup of tea." However, I really enjoyed this Book 3. It's full of good friends, fraught relationships, and, of course, murder. I like that the characters don't feel like stereotypes. Here's one tiny example. Lyla's running, and her best friend Melanie is struggling to keep up. The narrator notes, "Melanie wasn't the athletic type though petite and lean genetically." Okay, that's such a small little thing, but it's an example of the various characters having some layering to them--not everyone is exactly as you'd expect by looking at them. I've read (or abandoned) a lot of cozies recently with cardboard characters, so I was really taking notice of this. I also love Lyla's relationship with her Gran. It's not saccharine, but her grandmom also isn't a ridiculously over-the-top caricature.

The mystery plot itself is suitably complex. I felt Lyla's confusion and frustration with Rosa's behavior, and Lyla and the other Jane Does felt relatable, though imperfect. Yay! Of course, the whole thing is far-fetched--it is a cozy, after all. But the world, the emotions, and the plot felt more satisfying and layered than in several I've read recently.

Hmm...maybe I need to go back and read Book 2.

*I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review*

I truly love this series, it's so good and when you start the book, you get sucked into it straight away and you can hardly put it down! "Crime for the Books" is the third installment in the series.
Lyla Moody and the ladies of the Jane Doe Bookclub are hosting a Halloween Party, with Agatha Christie’s A Murder is Announced as it's theme. But when the lights turn back on after the staged murder scene and a real body is discovered everything spirals out of control.

Since the victim is an estranged relative of Elaine Morgan, all suspicion falls on her in a rushed case by police officer Rosa Landry, who also happens to be a member of the Jane Doe Bookclub. Lyla and all the other members just know it was not Elaine who did it and also don't understand why Rosa is going into this case so blindly...

I love the characters in this series loads, they are so very well written, but this storyline was also amazing!!! I had no idea who did it, let alone why! I got tossed around so much with my suspicions and I was betting on the wrong horse. But what a great installment this one is!!!

I am grateful for the opportunity to read #CrimefortheBooks by Kate Young, provided by #NetGalley and #CrookedLaneBooks.
I was drawn in by the beautiful cover, bookish title, and intriguing description. However, once I started reading my interest quickly waned.
I found the first four chapters to be disjointed, and by the end of the fourth chapter (10% according to Kindle), I had lost all interest in progressing. The characters didn't draw me in, nor did the setting descriptions or dialogue. Once I put down the book, I couldn't force myself to pick it up again. Perhaps it is because I hadn't read any of the previous books in the series.
Ultimately, I decided to put this one in the did not finish pile.

Another mystery for Lyla to solve and this one is closer to home. Many things are not what they seemed and when you think you know someone, you find out more than you bargained for.
This book started out a bit slow for me and I found myself getting more aggravated with Lyla as I found there was just something about her this time that I just could not stomach. The mystery was ok and there were times when I thought I knew who the killer was. I am honest, I didn't like this one as much as I did the previous one.

Thank you @crookedlanebks, @NetGalley, and @KAYoungBooks
