Enjoy the excerpt ❤️
“Yes, this is my office. Office, Tulip, Tulip, office. We’re not headed there.” He maintained his quick pace and bowed his head down to my ear. “We’re heading to a room that has no glass doors.” The hairs at the back of my neck prickled from his low voice and the proximity, with last night’s memories still very much alive. One of the attorneys nodded at Zach who nodded back. “Someone can see us until we get there,” I whispered to him. “Let them see.” His hold tightened around me, his fingers digging deeper into my back. “For all they know, you’re my client and I’m taking you to my special conference room.” I blinked once, his intensity hitting me all at once and spreading like wildfire through me. Zach halted, glanced to either side of the hall, grabbed my wrist, and pulled me inside, locking the door behind us. He brought me to a special room all right, to the copy room. “I should know better than to have sex in my own office.” He pinned me to the wall, dipping his head to my neck and brushing his lips across it, nibbling his way up to my jaw. “But with this dress and your fucking intoxicating smell, I can’t say that I fucking care.”
The Benefits of Love is book 2 of the As I Am series by Shani Haim. It is a standalone contemporary romance with interconnected characters from previous books in the series, told from both points of view with a happy ending. Shani Haim continues her As I Am series with this sweet, sexy and lighthearted read that kept me smiling and fanning myself throughout.
Laura and Zach were introduced by their best friends Erin and Thomas three years ago. They hadn’t become best of friends immediately but they certainly couldn’t deny the attraction between them.
As it turns out, they had more in common than they originally though. They both have unsupportive family, they’re both very much focused on building their careers and they treasure their friends and their friendship.
I really loved watching their relationship evolve from friends with benefits to loving partners in life. Their push and pull was fun and witty. It was sweet. It was hot and their story is heartfelt and gave me all the feels. I can’t wait for Shani’s next story!
The Benefits of Love, the second book to the As I Am series, tells us the story of Zach and Laura. They have been sort of friends for three years since their best friends got into a relationship, and have been attracted to each other—even though they'd never admitted and never will admit it out loud. They both have good background stories, and they are both workaholics—he's an attorney who's started his own firm, and she's a photographer who manages her own wedding photos business—and have no time for love. They are not looking for love. They don't want it. They don't have time for it. But they're attracted to each and, when life starts pushing them more and more into the other's life, they decide to make a deal: they will be friends with benefits—just sex, just having fun, love can't be part of it. Of course the agreement didn't really work because—yet they did enjoy the time spent together, and that's the only thing that went as predicted—they couldn't stop thinking of each other. They couldn't stop themselves from developing feelings for each other. And even trying so hard not to, not falling in love was not an option. Zach and Laura have a cute story of an unexpected love, but—just like happened in the first book—I wish we'd gotten more scenes of the protagonists together, less time passes, and more scenes for us to see the development of their relationship and to know their feelings better. In general, it's a good novel, but (again) with a little more, it'd be even better.
Thanks The Next Step Pr and the author's team for the ARC. ARC kindly provided exchange for an honest review.
"No matter how good you had it on your own, no matter how strong you were, life looked that much better when sharing it with someone you liked. Someone you might even fall in love with."
If you've read The Heart of a Painter then you've met Zach and Laura, like me I'm sure you've been dying for their story and WHAT A STORY!! The Benefits Of Love is the second book in the As I Am series and the book that will set your Kindle aflame with the explosive chemistry, inevitable steam and sexy times!!
“When I lie in bed at night, I dream of all the things I’m going to do to you. But it’s never as real, as gripping, as when I fuck you like this.”
Zach and Laura haven't had the most supportive family; in fact, it's the opposite. Their families play a huge role in why their priorities are building their businesses with room for little else. The one true importance is the friendships they've built and nurtured over the years and with that their friends-with-benefits arrangement was formed. But as we all know that NEVER works out!!
“Yes, we had a deal, and I’m probably the shittiest attorney ever to breach my own contract. For you though, I’ll do it. I’ll piss over my own signature then burn it to the ground if the end result would be being with you.”
The love that grows from the friendship between these two characters gave me all the damn feels and had me hanging on every word written between the pages of this beautiful story. If you love a friends with benefits romance, with sexy as sin encounters and two characters that will have you begging for so much more then you better grab this one now!!
⭐⭐⭐⭐ "I didn't even know I wanted to be a someone until I met Laura."
What You'll Find: ✔️Secret Relationship ✔️Friends With Benefits ✔️Open Door Steam ✔️Hero Falls First ✔️Dual POV
The Benefits of Love tells the story of two workaholics, who mutually agree to a no strings, friends with benefits, fling. Both single with no time for more in their busy lives, what could possibly go wrong? Well, things quicky change when feelings do.
I really enjoyed Laura and Zach's story. Both have risen above to become the successful people they are today. And risking what they worked so hard to have, for love? It seems impossible to them. But how they worked through that, for each other, to find their HEA, was what really worked for me in this story.
They truly have much in common. It felt very kindred spirits. But set that on fire... because there was some serious heat from the start in this book. It took me a minute to warm up to Zach but he really won me over. A man who falls first... you just have to read it to experience it for yourself. I did want to feel a little more connected but overall an enjoyable light read that packs the heat!
It was also nice to see Erin and Thomas from The Heart of a Painter again. You got to see them in a whole new light that I enjoyed. Excited to see what's next from this author!
*I received an ARC from the author via The Next Step PR in exchange for my honest review.
After reading The Heart of a Painter and falling in love with Erin and Thomas, I couldn't wait to read Zach and Laura's story.
I loved all the scenes with Erin and Thomas and the twins!
The Benefits of Love is about love, friendship, and everything in the middle.
Zach and Laura are workaholics, and they both have had failed relationships in the past. To solve their dilemma, Zach proposes being friends with benefits. This sounds perfect until one starts falling for the other.
Zach and Laura have the best banter and chemistry, and the spice is off the charts; they're HOT and STEAMY!
Let me tell you something at the beginning...Shani Haim has done it again. I was soo excited for Zach and Laura's book and my expectations were justified.
It did started as a friend's with benefits, but during the book progresses to a full on love affair. I can definately sense that both of them started having feelings towards each other, but they couldn't let themselves be in love. There were also a definately a little bit of tug and pull drama, but I was thankful it was at a minimum.
The smut in the book, OMG the smut. It was soo freaking good. The fire between them was off the charts 🔥🔥🔥. There were also a pretty interesting erotic games that I liked soo soo much.
Overall I loved this book ♥️♥️♥️.
***ARC was provided from the author and Next step PR for an exchange of my honest review.***
4.5 Stars First & most importantly… Zach is MINE! And I’m not sharing! It’s inevitable that you’ll fall in love with him & his “magical eggplant”, but just know that he’s my book boyfriend! Lol!
Zach & Laura’s chemistry is OFF THE CHARTS 🔥🔥🔥! Their banter is witty & fun. This is a great friends with benefits love story. And let me tell you, the “benefits” are sexy AF! I give ALL the eggplant stars!
This book has so much heart. Both characters have overcome the emotional turmoil from their crappy families by throwing themselves into building successful businesses that take up all of their time & energy. Neither wants a relationship. But their friendships are very important to them. The friendships they’ve cultivated over the years are the family they’ve chosen. Above all else Zach & Laura have a tight friendship. Watching it grow into something more gives all the feels… it’s endearing, romantic, funny, charming, and sometimes even heartbreaking.
I loved loved loved every moment of reading this book. I especially love revisiting with friends Erin & Thomas & their newborn twins Rowan & Violet from The Heart of a Painter!
The Benefits of Love is the 2nd book in the As I Am series and this story follows Zach and Laura, two workaholic who embark on a friends with benefits arrangement, as they both had no time to devote to relationships.
This novel was hott and steamy and it was quite interesting to see how their relationship evolved over the course of this story from mostly s3x to friendship to so much more.
I enjoyed this author's style of writing. I loved that she gave us the characters thoughts and emotions in the story and how easy it was to feel what they felt. Zach and Laura had great push and pull dynamic and I loved their witty banter. They ended up having so much in common and were really well suited for each other.
This novel was a light, fun, steamy read and I loved it. I would highly recommend it to lovers of contemporary romance.
A light and sweet contemporary romance with a lot of heart. Zach and Lauras story is definitely unconventional as they both start out trying to pretend they can have the benefits without the emotions. I really enjoyed the slow burn elements mixed in with the physical elements and watching their walls start to come down. And I loved Zach so much as he fell for her first (which is my fave!). And the steamy scenes in this one set my kindle on fire. If you love contemporary romance- make sure you add this one to your tbr or one click it today!
Shani Haim is back with her second book in the As I Am series. Let me tell you she truly delivers a knock out read! Shani’s writing has this effortless beauty to it that I couldn’t help but getting absolutely lost in her words. Both Zach and Laura have experienced similar familial challenges that had affected them deeply on many levels. Relationships were the last thing these two wanted so they agree to a friends to benefits arrangement. My favorite thing about this trope is the thrill of watching them fight their feelings every step of the way. These two definitely fought it with everything in them. Zach and Laura had smoking hawt chemistry and I lived for their hilarious banter.
Ok so listen, Zach and Laura were set off the fire alarm, piping steaming HAWT. Zach had some surprising and deliciously sexy tricks up his charming little sleeve and I was 1000% here for it.
When these two fell, they fell hard. The fact that Zach fell first left me swooning so hard. He was willing to do whatever it took to truly win Laura’s heart forever. This story had so much heart. The emotion was palpable and the passion seeped through the pages. I loved every single minute.
THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING, I loved it so so much, how it played out, how the characters developed and how it bind the first book together. How the timeline was realistic and how it even though it was romanticized still felt like it could happen. How the writing spoke to me and how it draws the reader in from page one til the very end.
Laura is this really strong female who is independent and successful with her own business, but a woman who also neglects herself and forgets to treat herself when she deserves it, a woman who works non stop and doesn’t take a single break, ever, until.. Until she meets Zach, this funny sarcastic guy who carries his own past and trauma. But Zach who is a successful lawyer but has forgotten that he deserves love and deserves to BE loved. This beautiful man gives his everything to everyone but himself he is hard and unforgiving when it concerns himself. But seeing himself in Laura switch something in him, and together they fight their way back to the surface and keep each other there, not letting the other one drown.
They have this special bond that not everyone can find, and their story is about not only finding love but finding oneself❤️
The spice starts right under 8% in. Enough said. 😈 (Also I freaking LOVED these two… the banter, the heat… SO good)
This is the second installment book about Laura and Zach. They are both workaholics, never sleep, and never have made any life plans that wasn’t work. They met 3 years prior because their two best friends (Thomas and Erin) are married with kids, and their dinners together allowed Laura and Zach to see a different side of each other.
When they make an agreement to stay strictly “friends with benefits”, things are great. But once life starts developing what if’s and feelings start getting involved, they’re left at a standstill. They both have to make huge sacrifices that they’ve never been willing to make… and someone is bound to get hurt.
I’m satiated from the outcome of the story and the lesson it gave for all about life & love. The writer writes it beautifully and addressed everything fantastically. After getting to know about the characters in the first book of the series, I was curious to know what happened in their life, and to finally get the answers is super amazing. This one got a lot more spiciness than the book one. The chemistry between Laura and Zach is unmissable and the path they have created for themselves in their careers is wow, applauding completely. It is a joy ride to read about their ups and downs with all the workaholic commitments they don’t want to leave. We get to see glimpses of the future of Erin and Thomas' too, which makes it even more realistic and relatable in many ways. The epilogue is Love.
Really liked this friends to lovers romance. Laura and Zack were great friends and didn't realize that they meant more to each other. It was a long complicated road but they made it. A great romance with great characters. enjoyed the story. Voluntarily reviewed.
I was super fortunate to get my hands on this book early and I’ll start my review off by saying ‘Holy shit where do I find me a Zac!?’ 😩
This book was one of those that didn’t follow its usual trope. I’ve never read a book where two character's have tried to have a relationship but failed and then come back together. I found it endearing how the two of them bickered, fought their feelings and came back together.
Neither Laura nor Zac have easy histories but they’re good, golden hearted people that are just so lovely to read.
Their friends with benefits was hilarious. Both of them, many bloody times needed their heads banging together. It was so obvious they wanted to be with each other 😆 and I really enjoyed the push and pull.
Worthy noting how much I bloody loved girl boss Laura. She just gets on with it and that’s such a positive trait to all women out there, reading this amazing book.
Now I’ve gushed about the characters let’s talk steam!
‘His lips reduced me to nothing but carnal desire and I surrendered to being consumed by him entirely’
Yeah me bloody to Laura. The guy knows what he’s doing and I’ve never been more jealous of a fiction character in my life.
In all, this book has
-everything -steam -angst -sassy fmc -and more of everything.
Am I going to buy this in paperback? Yes! Am I going to re read the series once complete? Yes!
Shani Haim has become my unicorn author. Her writing style is refreshing, easy to follow and expressive, and I found myself glued to the pages reading this book.
What can you expect? ♡dual POV ♡friends with benefits ♡age gap ♡all the steam ♡sweet, independent and hardworking heroine ♡hot alpha lawyer hero, dirty talker and major cinnamon roll when his girl needs him ♡heart-melting moments that will give you all the feels
Zach and Laura make such a gorgeous couple. They start out as friends with benefits, both being workaholics and just looking for a way to let out steam without all the pressure of dating. But every time they get together, their feelings shift towards something more, and despite trying hard to keep things casual, they inevitably fall in love. This might not be what either of them wanted, but sometimes you just have to listen to your heart and take a leap of fate with the person who makes your feel on cloud nine.
Both protagonists were dynamic and well presented, and I really believed in their passionate magnetism. I could see fireworks going off between Laura and Zach every time they were near each other. Their banter was so good and their chemistry was palpable throughout the entire book. I liked how things flowed between them, and the way their relationship unravelled. There were tense situations and a bit of heartbreak through the plotline, but it was well worth it when they finally got their happily ever after, and the ending was fitting for their story. I loved all the emotion that poured from the pages and I wholeheartedly recommend giving this book a try.
Having read The Heart of A Painter i've been looking so forward to reading more of Ms.Haim's work! I started looking forward to this one right away. I picked it up and got back into the As I Am world right away! I so enjoyed this second installment!
Laura and Zach's journey pulled me in! These two are friends turned friends with benefits and when feelings come into the picture, I couldn't wait to see how everything would go for them!
I really liked their friendship and getting to see these tackle work as well as the truths in their hearts. I was so glad that i got to dig deeper with them. Their chemistry was great! Both characters had me going through different emotions throughout which i really enjoyed!
With The Benefits of Love, Ms.Haim has created such a good read that had me feeling so much! I can't wait for more from this author! Definitely check out the As I Am books if you haven't already!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from the author / The Next Step PR*
Okay so the trope friends with benefits is and always will be one of the best tropes in my opinion, period.
Laura is a young, positive and passionate wedding photographer. She loves capturing moments with her camera and helping people as well as spreading good cheer. Her work is her top priority, which is why she has a very work-oriented life with little free time.
Zach is hot, charming and also a workaholic. Not only is he in the process of setting up his own company, he is also having great success with it. Nevertheless, his life is also very work-oriented and he has little free time.
In the beginning both characters do have a history with each other as their respective best friends are married. Laura had a crush on Zach back then, but over time it slipped into the friend zone. To see how both characters notice over time that they do feel something for each other and first agree on friends with benefits was very exciting to follow. Not only has Zach gone through full character development, but he's gone from not wanting a girlfriend to thinking that Laura is the one and he would do anything for her. To be honest, Zachs character development is my favorite and it makes me so happy to say, that I was a part of Lauras and Zachs realistic and beautiful love story.
Ooh the man has a way with words and ever since I finished this book I can't help but swoon at the memory of Zach or as he is often referred to, Thor 😜
The Benefits of Love is the second book in the All I Am series by my amazing and beautiful friend Shani. This is the story of Laura and Zach, who we meet in her first book The Heart of A Painter and I knew I needed their story as soon as they were introduced. This book is the perfect friends to lovers romance and the fact that the friends part comes with biiig benefits is a major plus for me. Zach and Laura are mirror images of ultimate workaholics that live only for their careers and truly believe love has no place in their busy schedule. Laura is a successful wedding photographer and a one woman business and Zach is working hard on building and maintaining his own law firm. They both have a need for success that stems from constant family pressure and disappointment and see any outside factor as a threat or a path to failure. My heart hurt for both of them because they worked so hard to prove themselves to other people (their parents 🤬) that didn't value them one bit. When they strike a deal to take care of each others needs and let off some steam together, they slowly realise there's so much more to their connection than lust. I loved the funny moments between them just as much as the sexy ones. Learning to trust each other and eventually recognising they are each others half was a beautiful journey. Also Thomas and Erin make an appearance for moral support and a glass of wine with the 2 lovers who fail to see the truth that's in front of them😂 I'll admit I'm an enemies to lovers kind of girl rather than friends to lovers, but this book grabbed my heart and I can't help but want more of Zach and Laura😍
This universe Shani has created is beautiful and I'm looking forward to see if she gives the side characters the spotlight they deserve!
The Benefits of Love is the 2nd interconnected standalone in As I Am series and I really enjoyed it, so much more than the 1st book which was a debut novel so I could definitely see improvement.
We get to know Zach and Laura as best friends of the protagonists in the 1st book and the story continues where they left of. A misunderstanding led them to believe that each of them weren't interested in one another more than just friends. So after they get stood up by their friends, Zach propositions Laura to become friends with benefits since they're both workaholics and don't have time for relationships. The actual proposition felt to me a bit abrupt, but after that I actually liked how their story progressed.
One of the things that mostly bothered me in the first book was skipping or fast forwarding, which also happened a few times here but it was definitely in smaller amounts. For example I would have loved to witness their relationship as they went from just having sex to him actually staying and spending time together but it was just fast forwarded.
I loved that Laura was strong and independent and stood her ground, a little too much hard headed and with her behavior (because at the beginning of the story she was actually hurt by his "rejection") she actually convinced me that she didn't care that much about Zach who put his heart on the platter for her. Zach was absolutely amazing, a great guy once you get to know him. I would have liked if she was the one who groveled at the end and made the first step because Zach totally deserved it.
Overall, I really enjoyed it. It kept my attention the whole time. It was pretty steamy and well balanced with the story. The epilogue was a cherry on the top.
A stand-alone friends to lovers romance with a few angsty moments featuring characters previously introduced in The Heart of a Painter, the first book in the As I Am series. It’s sweet and sizzling in turn with fantastic chemistry between Zach and Laura, the hero and heroine or Thor and Tulip to use their code names for each other. They have agreed to have a ‘friends with benefits’ relationship as they both have no time for a private life with their respective businesses taking up most of their time and energy. The code names are because they don’t want their best friends Erin and Thomas to know they’ve been hooking up especially Erin who has been trying to set them up since practically day one. But what happens when one half of the arrangement realises that they want more.
I’m noticing a theme with this author in that the parents are generally useless in the parenting department but in this book Zach’s parents especially his father were downright horrible and I would’ve loved a scene with Laura confronting them for their treatment of Zach. Despite this I did enjoy this book as love gradually crept up on the unwitting couple. I also loved the glimpses of Thomas and Erin and the life they have built. Now the question is are Corey and Olivia going to be next up to have their story told?
This book is a stand-alone but I’d recommend reading The Heart of a Painter first of all as it features Thomas and Erin’s story which is mentioned in this book.
“I promise, I’d treasure your heart like the most precious jewel there is, because you’re worth it for me, you’re that and a million more.’
Oh Zach….you made my lip wobble 🥺
Happy Release Day to our Ray of Sunshine that is Shani.
The Benefits of Love is NOW LIVE!
This was such a sweet, swoon worthy, spicy story. I was rooting for Zach and Laura since I first met them in Shani’s debut novel, The Heart Of A Painter. If you have already read that, you will know that Laura and Zach are best friends to Erin and Thomas from that book. Openly confessed workaholics in their own field, Laura and Zach simply have no time for anything else in their life…such as love. So they agree to have a Friends with benefits kind of agreement, which means… no strings no complications They are the complete ‘Fudge buddies’ Perfect.
However, things gets complicated when they want to start spending more time in each other’s company and not so much staring at the computer screen. They bond in ways that were are so poignant. Families that just don’t understand their route in life, always trying to please people. The stone walls start to crumble and we’re there for the duration.
This was another pleasant reading experience from Shani! You can tell she is becoming more confident as a writer, her journey is just beginning….oh, she’s total naughty minx too!! 🌶🥵
The Benefits Of Love is second book and definitely, author DOESN'T slow down!
She created another beautiful, heartwarming love story, that had melted my heart into the puddle at the end! She proved, with book no 1 and now book no2 that being an author was her destiny ! I loved to see how she grew up as an author - The Benefits Of Love if a masterpiece that I couldn't put down. Zach and Laura are bringing breathtaking friends to lovers romance. I won't lie- it's one of my fave kind, and this couple literally bring every-single-thing, I love in my romantic books. Humor, steamy moment and amazing story line, which had kept me on toes until the last chapters, AND AMAZING, ADDICTIVE IN THE BEST WAY LOVE . Love that every girl can dream about, love that can be medicine for every evil in this world.
I could write all day long how much Zach and Laura captivated my heart, but.... Maybe just do Yourself big favor and one click today The Benefits Of Love today.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 by @authorshanihaim is now LIVE!
Zach and Laura’s friendship has been there for a few years, but it’s limited to friendship group encounters and their mutual godchildren, but when they find themselves unexpectedly alone at a restaurant, Zach has a suggestion, friends with benefits, no strings, no feelings, no problems…
I adored the way the love between them grew so subtly, Zach and Laura were two beautifully damaged characters, the similarities in their upbringings gave them a stronger foundation than either of them realised.
Zach and Laura’s sexy, angst filled friends with benefits romance was an absolute delight to read!
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 gave me all the feels. I adore Shani both as a person and as an author, she’s the sweetest, kindest soul and the way she writes is compelling and captivating. Congratulations on your new release my lovely!
After meeting these two in the first installment of this series, I was curious to see how things with them would end up. I did not expect them to be where they are at the beginning of the book but kind of understood it given where the last one left off. It was cute to watch them grow together past their hesitancy and figure things out. Spicy and worth diving into!
I already loved Laura & Zach in book 1 “𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘖𝘧 𝘈 𝘗𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳 ” and I was so excited to finally see how their relationship would evolve from friends, to friends with benefits, to lovers. And Shani didn’t disappoint!! This was such a fun, sweet and super steamy love story 🔥♥️🔥 Exactly what I needed as I was in a big reading slump!
The Benefits of Love by Shani Haim is an age-gap, friends with benefits, he falls first romance. I loved this book so much! There was so much emotion, the characters were well developed, and I loved the way Zack and Laura’s relationship developed. I adored the characters, their relationship was goals and I think this book is a must read!
“I promise, I’d treasure your heart like the most precious jewel there is, because you’re worth it for me, you’re that and a million more. You’re Mars, and Earth, and every star in between.” 📸 Review: The Benefits of Love by Shani Haim. As I Am series book 2. 📸 I absolutely loved this book, even more than Shani’s first book. I felt like her writing matured a lot from then and now, if this is even possible. I felt the emotions and so connected to the characters. It’s more steamy (I know, amazing!!) and it was so great “seeing” the development Zack’s and Laura’s relation, from lust, to friends, to pure love. I devoured it all.
We first see them both at the first book in the series, as they are Thomas and Erin’s best friends. Three years ago, they’ve met each other through their friends and didn’t created a super friendship, I mean, they were there longing and desiring each other but never felt like they were right for one another. Until one day, when they agree to be f-buddies, all in secret, of course.
It’s obvious with this trope how everything is going to work out, but I was please at surprised with a few of the developments. Laura and Zack are basically the same person, in different gender. Both had parents issues, live for their work success, have few friends, but love them dearly, are gorgeous and so ready to shack together, only for the moment, forever doesn’t enter their vocabulary.
There’s lot to dive in their path to grow their feelings, but I especially loved how supportive they were of each other, over basically everything. With little touches they could say everything they were feeling and that made their finale even more lovable. Love can truly transform people. I also adored the brotherly insta-connection Zack had with Laura’s younger sister, it was a thing I wasn’t expecting.
This was a totally must read from Shani and I’m even more excited to read what’s next from her.
