Exqusite, flame-haired Elizabeth Easton thought Seattle a raw, rough frontier harbor after her elegant upbringing in San Francisco. But she discovers what the real wilderness is when the noble Indian brave, Strong Heart, forces her to go with him in a flight back to his Suquamish people. Here, deep in the breathtaking forests of the great pacific Northwest, Stong Heart is free from intolerant injustice. Here Elizabeth is free of the smothering control of her ambitious businessman father. Here both of them are free of all the pride and prejudice that kept them apart in the white world...as this superbly handsome, strong, and sensitive man becomes her guide on passion's path to unfettered joy...and she stands beside him to defy all that seeks to end a love that will not be denied....
Edwards began writing romances in 1982 and released her 100th novel, Savage Skies, on August 28, 2007. Although her earlier books were classic historical romances, the vast majority of her novels involve Native American tribes. Edwards's grandmother was a full-blooded Cheyenne. Her first 99 books sold a combined 10 million copies as of August 2007, with her more recent novels averaging sales of 250,000–350,000 copies.
Edwards has won the Romantic Times Lifetime Achievement Award and the Romantic Times Reviewer's Choice Award, as well as being named one of Affaire de Coeur's top ten favorite romance writers. Edwards has a reputation for meticulously researching the proper anthropological backgrounds of each tribe she writes about.
Edwards and her husband Charles, a retired high school biology teacher, have been married for over 50 years. They have two sons, Charles and Brian, and three grandchildren. The family lived in St. Louis, Missouri for over thirty years, but now reside in Mattoon, Illinois.
I bought this book for one reason. One tiny, insignificant reason. Which is that this book has the best keyhole cover I've ever seen in real life.
But we'll come back to that.
First, I have to talk about the instalove. Within the first 50 pages, the hero and heroine meet and are smitten. Literally the first time Elizabeth sees Strong Heart, she is fleeing from a smoky room (she lit a fire but the flue was blocked somehow), and he ran into the house to rescue her. So they're standing in the doorway of a smoky room ogling each other, somehow not choking to death.
Strong Heart and his grandfather are lurking in the woods around the house Elizabeth just moved into with her father, because it's built on the site of the Suquamish graveyard. All this lurking facilitates further encounters between the two, because of course Elizabeth runs off into the woods alone even when she's been warned not to. Anyway, they end up mutually rescuing a random young woman from drowning, and before they even make sure this woman is okay, they're back to ogling each other. This woman had purple lips and was shivering and coughing, for crying out loud! Priorities, people.
I don't know how Strong Heart can keep running into Elizabeth, but apparently not his grandfather, who he traveled there to look for in the first place.
These shenanigans are why I've decided to set the book down for the time being. I may come back to it when I run out of other romances to read, if I haven't donated it already. I'd hoped to write a proper review, since it doesn't have any detailed ones yet.
But now, we come to my reason for buying this. I hope it's not anticlimactic or anything, since I've built it up so much.
So there you have it. I hope I've made your day.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Wild Embrace By Cassie Edwards does what it says on the tin, it's a romantic, flowery romance with what is in my opinion not very bright characters. Now this book left me rather nostalgic as I have read Many Miss Edwards and other authors like her in my younger days and I can honestly say at the time I really enjoyed them. I suppose over the years my reading tastes have changed a bit. which doesn't make this a bad book, just something I have outgrown. So to summarise we have flame-haired Elizabeth Easton who moves to Seattle with her father from san-Francisco here she meets the Indian Brave, Strong Heart of the Suquamish people. After Elizabeth is taken captive by Strong-heart the two fall for each other rather quickly in my opinion. Now there is a lot of side stories going on to try to keep this interesting, but I felt this were just background noise and there was too much occurring, it seemed to be disaster after disaster. Some of the decisions our two lovers make are just plain idiotic and I found myself shaking my head at the sheer stupidity of some of their actions. Anyway, it all comes down to taste if you like your romance soppy with dramatic declarations of love then Wild Embrace is just the book for you. If you like something a bit more gritty then give it a pass. This was an ok read that I probably would have appreciated more a few years back. Lastly just would like to say the book cover for this novel is superb, really caught my eye. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a free readers copy of Wild Embrace By Cassie Edwards. This is my own personal opinion of this novel.
I was given a free digital ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. If you've read Cassie Edwards novels, you'll enjoy this book. It's a reissue of a novel from years ago. It has it's twists and turns with romance and spice woven into it. Ms. Edwards is able to create a nice picture of the setting while continuing with the story. Her novels do not have pages of descriptions, but little bits of description mixed into the story. Although I know this is a romance novel, it seemed like the intimate part of the book came up fairly quickly. It was the only real issue I had with the novel, but in no way wanted to make me not finish the book. Strong Heart and Elizabeth were two traditional Historical Romance characters that brought a few hours of enjoyment.
I love romance. I really do and I even lost instant love and attraction but it didn't work in this novel. I love the cover. I love the title. I love the author. But that was it. Our not-so-smart heroine, Elizabeth Easton did a lot of things that had me shaking my head. Strong Heart was able to spot her so many times and was skilled but couldn't find his grandfather. The love between these two after short encounters had me rolling my eyes. It was disappointing. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC!
The book wasn’t “Bad” but I just had such a hard time getting into it. The characters were all dumb. Their choices and even the way they spoke showed critical thinking was not their forte. Even their brilliant plans were so ludicrous. The ending drove me a little bonkers. Her confessing what she did would get him hung at that time, not set free. And she just kind of threw it out there with not enough back story. I probably would have liked this book had a read it 20 years ago, but it’s just too full of flaws.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
i aboslutly fell in love with this book although i admit some parts could get a bit run on and boring but for the most part it will be a book i read over again
