In this gender-swapped brother's best friends, Kaleb has been in love with Lexi Jacobs for as long as he could remember. And even ten years later, he's still holding a flame for her. But now that Lexi is in town, staying at his childhood home for his brother's wedding, he can prove that he's not a little kid anymore
When Lexi sees Kaleb Russel for the first time in ten years, she is stunned by how he grew up. He was barely 14 when she left and now ... he wasn't. But this wasn't the time or place. She was here for her best friend's wedding, to be his best man and plan his bachelor party, not get the hots for his kid brother. But that get's harder and harder when Kaleb pins her to a wall and asks if she still sees him as a kid.
This romcom novella is perfect for Tessa Bailey fans looking for a swoony and spicy short time. Featuring dual POV, forced proximity, and a HEA.
Content this book contains explicit sexual content.
Lex's best friend's little brother is all grown up now and she's finally noticing him after he's been in love with her for years.
Adored the idea, iffy execution.
The writing was hard to follow at times, the sentence structure could be a little bizarre, and there were typos, grammatical errors, or times where the wrong character name was used. Infrequent/minor issues I can ignore, but it got distracting when it kept happening.
As for the characters, they both read like they were in their teens, which wouldn't be an issue if I didn't know they were both in their twenties. Lex was rash and annoying at times and all we heard was how much Kaleb loved her, but we were rarely shown it.
The epilogue was cute, I liked the slideshow.
With more show and less tell, some editing, and a firmer plotline/development, it would've been great.
Lexi realizes Kaleb is allll grown up. - reverse age gap
I just wish the conflict and resolution at the end was stronger. I also think Lexi as the older MC acted immature which was disappointing because I loved her for the first 3/4th of the book.
I think this is my first novella read too so I’m trying to tell myself the fast pace and resolution is normal. I really think this could be a great rom-com with just more details and a stronger ending.
I liked this book, but I feel like it progressed too fast. There wasn’t the gradual growth of the characters feelings for each other, it was kinda just there and then bam. Also, during the dual povs, a lot of it the same exact things, just from a different view. There was a few times where the words were exactly the same, and that threw me off
What can I say I brought it as soon as I finished it! I wasn't sure at first about the younger brother of my best friend idea! But loved it gonna try other books with the same concept! Such a page tunner. He definitely proved he was all grown up! And that he deserved to be seen as a man! If you want a cute little love story with some sex! This is for you 🥰
WHERE CAN I FIND A MAN LIKE KALEB?? Loved this book I don't usually read books where the Love interest is younger (24yo)than the Main character(27-28yo) but this one is mwuah, the smut is something too I was hot hot hot. One thing to say GO FOR IT.
Concept = ✨😩✨ Execution = 🤡💩 also the writing was lowkey cringe af also lowkey my fault but the guy had the same name as my brother and that made me a wee bit uncomfy
I was so excited to read this book Kaleb is Lexis best friend Blakes younger brother who has always been in love with her but its only ten years later she finally stops seeing him as a kid and really notices the man he's grown up to be... this was such a good idea but not the best delivery it could have had a lot more potential.
Throughout the book there were so many mistakes with names and misspelled words so I'm assuming it wasn't edited ? The book is only short and I feel like the characters change in relationship was very rushed and a slower burn would have been more fitting.
Lexi was older but I felt like she was very immature compared to Kaleb who was younger. She got so worked up over the smallest things making them worse than what they were throwing in his face about him being a kid when in reality she's the one acting like one...
I loved Kaleb but I felt like he babied Lexi a lot and was so sensitive around her also always worrying about upsetting her... usually I love how protective the guy is in books but I found this a little much and at times made me really cringe like when he bent down to tie her shoe laces getting the attention of everyone around them then tieing all the kids shoes.... I don't know why but it really made me cringe.
The epilogue was really rushed and could have been much longer and more detailed but was still really cute/funny and probably my favourite part of the book - Blakes slide show was hilarious and the banter between them all made me laugh 😃 I did enjoy this book but do beleive it had a lot more potential.
This is my first book that I read on my kindle and I’m really happy it was. I really love Kaleb as the main character he is really sweet and he is very caring towards Lexi and you can really see how his love was just always been there since he was a kid all the way to adulthood. I think the age gap thing is really cute and how his brother and Lexi are best friends and he’s just been in love with her his entire life is so cute. I really liked Lexi as a character because she is independent but sometimes she needs comfort from Kaleb which is sweet. It was a really good romance book and I recommend it.
This book was adorable. I would give it a 3.5 if I could. I fell in love with all of the characters they were hilarious. It was somewhat weird reading a brothers best friend but gender swapped but I liked it. It was short and oh so sweet. The only thing that keeps this from behind a four is there are many editing issues. In places instead of saying the young brothers name the authors accidentally says the older one. Things like this. There is just editing that is wrong. I would still recommend this book. 3.5/5
Okay first of all Kaleb did not feel real! Like such a gentleman! And I love a small miscommunication and stuff but in this book Lex was a self sabotaging bitch. She made him feel miserable and then didn't even apologize?! Like wtf. And then he was the one groveling? Whyyy? And then his own brother was throwing shit at him? Assholes bro. Kaleb is a fine ass man he dont deserve that. He was a greenflag throughout. The book was fine up until that point. So now I'll be a petty bitch and give it a two. (I was setting on a three but no)
Alright. I did enjoy reading it as it was fast passed so I read through it in almost one sitting. But I did have some ‘ugh’ moments while reading like the over use of the word ‘baby’ and the spelling/grammar errors, not even mentioning the use of the wrong name.
As I said I did enjoy reading it but I think it had more potential for what it could have been and I wished the epilogue was longer and less rushed.
This is exactly what I needed after reading multiple dark bad books in a row. Sure, this book needs a lot more editing and I wasn’t a fan of the amount of “baby”s and “I love you”s used especially with the pacing, but that’s what novellas are for! It gave me all the butterflies I was craving and I didn’t want to put it down. I definitely prefer novellas like this: history between the characters, dual POV, a third act break up and over 100 pages.
I did enjoy this story. Kaleb was such a gentleman and was very sweet towards Lexi. Lexi was great as well. And the smutty scenes were the best I've read in a while and didn't find myself cringing at all. The main problem I had was the spelling errors. There were a few but the main one that bothered me was calling Kaleb, Kaled. Other than the spelling mistakes, I thought it was a great debut story. Super enjoyable and will be on the lookout to read more from this author.
The brother’s best friend is supposed to have way more tension than this. I loved the book that it was short, about one event and the circumstances that happened around it. The first time he asked her if she still sees him as a kid was the best thing, the rest felt like drunk people wanting to get in each other’s pants
This book had me by a chokehold at the beginning but through the countless spelling/grammar errors (some that even left me confused) I had a hard time finishing it. A quick read and super super wholesome, hopefully as this author progresses her writing/resources continue to improve! Overall would read again, the spice scenes were great🔥
The plot was a great idea, but with a few grammar errors and a lack of an actual connection it only gets three stars. I felt like they both had feelings but never discussed them with each other. But they just jump right in to having sex and then more sex and then again more sex. The only time they really talked about feelings was towards the end of the book with then still had more sex.

Very heart whelming story. I love this story because it showed how real feelings are when you have a crush on somebody and how nervous you get. This story felt so real. Highly recommend !!!
3.5/5! It was cute & I love reading about the male lead pining! Plus the ml being younger is something I don’t read about often so it was nice! The climax did seem a bit rushed & I feel like the female lead was a bit overdramatic but it was still a super cute read!
cute little book! only about 160 pages and great for getting you out of a book slump! adorable that the guy has been head over heels in love with the girl his whole life. nice little twist! i enjoyed it!

I really love this book. It was so cute. Definitely had some good spicy parts. At some point I think they were trying to make the main male protagonist just like the perfect guy which was kind of annoying. But all around I thought it was a good Contemporary romance.
This was cute, but it needs some better editing. Characters were misnamed or their name completely changed for a sentence. All in all, if you can look past the typos it's a cute story.
I liked the premise of this but it needed more substance and good lord can we please be done with the miscommunication trope?! Especially when it’s just a singular moment of insecurity, like just TALK ABOUT IT, people!
Suuuuuuper cheesy and not all that well written (many spelling/grammar issues throughout). The concept was interesting and overall, it was a good mix of cute and spicy, but would have been better with more attention to detail.
A good book, that I had been waiting to be released so I’m happy, but there was a few small noticeable mistakes made in the writing. Overall a good book though.
