It's been nearly two hundred years since Isis, Zack, and The Witches of Vegas saved New Salem from the Wiccan vampire, Valeria. Now, Isis is a vampire and the most powerful witch in the world. Zack is also a vampire, and the president of New Salem. They thought the threat was long behind them. But Valeria escaped into the past where she set history on a horrific path.
Now, everything has changed around Isis. New Salem is destroyed, Valeria is queen of Earth, and no one has heard of Zack. To save reality, Isis must travel through time, reliving events from a history she barely recognizes, and find a way to set reality back on course. Not that she has any idea how to do that, or how to avoid the all-powerful Valeria in the process.
Isis will face challenges she can't possibly overcome, yet she must, or every single life from the past, present, and future is doomed.

**Thank you to the author for a digital copy of this book, still my review of it is unbiased and honest!**
This eventful YA fantasy is the 3rd episode of the "Witches of Vegas" series, featuring the peaceful witch/vampire, Isis, and her boyfriend and now vampire, Zack.
Storytelling is of a very good quality, the characters are very likeable but not always really believable, and although the story is well executed in some places it is somewhat unrealistic in my opinion, but if you're willing to look over these facts I've stated, then still you've got yourself a very enjoyable YA fantasy tale.
Its mainly about Isis, the good witch/vampire, who's now Vice-President, with at her side her boyfriend and now President of New Salem, Zack, when all of a sudden Isis is spoken to by the young girl Domina, and this Domina has seen visions about certain happenings in the past and she requests that Isis will travel 200 years back in time to confront and rectify these happenings.
While doing so Isis will meet and fight her nemesis of old, the evil witch/vampire, Valeria, in an attempt to restore and save the world by reshaping it into a peaceful one for her family, Sebastian, Selina, Sacha, Zack, Luther and several others.
To do all this Isis must revisit Vegas and other places to set things right, and it will come to an ultimate fight with Valeria, and what the final result will be is for you reader to find out by picking up this book and read all about it.
All in all a really satisfying fast-paced YA fantasy story, filled with witches/vampires and their bloody adventures, and these adventures will certainly appeal to the somewhat younger population of readers.
Very much recommended, especially to YA fantasy fans and readers, but this can certainly also be read at any age, who like stories filled with all kind of witches and vampires, and to give this tale its worth I like to call this adventure: "A Very Likeable Witchy Woman Fighting Evil"!
To save what was once harmony, Isis must time travel and undo what villainess Valeria concocted in the past. Just when Isis thinks her problems are over, Valeria somehow escapes into the past and creates a new reality. Valeria is the queen of the world, New Salem is obliterated, and no one has ever heard of Zack. It’s up to Isis to travel through time to reverse what Valeria did in the past. Isis hasn’t a clue what she’s doing or how to defeat Valeria’s super magic. The future of all life is on the line. Isis will face insurmountable odds, yet she cannot fail. For if she can’t defeat Valeria, all is lost, including Zack, Isis’ true love.

YES! Don’t delay. One-click this audiobook right now.
Witch's Gamble is book 3 in the Witches of Vegas YA series and you would definitely want to read the first 2 so you know who all the characters are and why they are in their current situation. I was a bit surprised that the book opened with 200 years passing since book 2 but it weaves into the story perfectly once the action gets going. Isis has a troubling task ahead of her and even with the experiences she's gained over the years it's still difficult for her to overcome and outwit Valeria. Being able to travel through time you'd think it would be easy to defeat her but there are plenty of challenges that keep Isis wondering if she'll ever be able to save her loved ones and the world.
YA is sometimes too over the top for me to love a book or series but The Witches of Vegas perfectly captures the teen voice making the series an enjoyable break from reality. I recommend this series to anyone who loves YA with a light paranormal twist.
Isis and Zack love their life in New Salem. Isis is presented with a way to challenge that is to come. What she doesn't know is how horrific that challenge can be.
A very interesting twist to the story. When Isis has to travel through time to stop Valeria once again. Stopping Valeria is the biggest challenge of Isis life. There are so many twists and turns in this story that it keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat. Each time Isis thinks she has accomplished her goal their is another challenge.
Full of suspense, action, sadness, happiness and great world building.
This is the third installment in what is easily one of my favorite series. It was so nice to dive back in with Zack and Isis, but oh how far they've come! Although 200 years have passed since book two, it's easy to slip right back into the rich, magic and paranormal filled world Rosendorf has created. The challenge facing them now is a race through history, trying to set reality back on the right course, and it's a captivating journey every step of the way. It really is hard to put this down once you start, and although this is geared towards the young adult crowd, older readers will easily get wrapped up in this story. The plot moves along smoothly and swiftly, and the characters are a delight. Highly recommend!
I will admit I have not read the other books but after reading this one I am going to be reading this book for sure! Iris and Zack are the two characters that it focused on in the book. Many challenges happen throughout the way for sure. I love how time travel is a key concept of the book as well! Love a story of witches and vampires! I am going to be reading both the other books for sure!
I enjoyed this book immensely. I think it was the time travel bit that I enjoyed the most. The characters were familiar and I definitely enjoyed the setting locations. A continuation of the previous books with a bit of a turn due to said time travel.
Wow! I was so surprised by this book! I don’t often read YA books and I’m a real chicken when it comes to horror elements such as zombies and end-of-world scenarios. I also haven’t read the preceding books in the series. I simply saw some great reviews and could not help but be interested.
This book certainly deserves those great reviews. The author has done a tremendous job with world-building. The same goes for his characters. In this book, heroine Isis holds center stage, but it’s clear that Zack is her hero. They are a sweet, dynamic couple. In fact, I enjoyed so many of the characters that I’ve realized I will have to go back and start at the beginning.
The story is fast-paced. The action is nonstop with crazy twists and turns. I was astounded. And it’s just scary enough to be fun.
Loved it! This is book 3 in the Witches of Vegas saga. Personally, I would read the other books before you read this one. If you don’t want any spoilers then stop reading now. The Witch's Gamble picks up 200 years after the end of New Salem (book 2). I was looking forward to this installment – it was like revisiting old friends. Granted they are fictional characters and 200-year-old vampires. Isis and Zack have seen a lot of changes in their time living in New Salem. This time around Isis faces the biggest challenge of her life yet, and the possibility of losing her soul mate in the process. Somehow her nemesis has managed to escape the crystal prison, floating through space, and has finally managed to achieve her dream… she is Queen. The Wiccan race rule and humans perish. New Salem and its inhabitants are no longer safe, it has been destroyed… with a little help from Valeria’s second in command – Isis. To prevent this from ever happening Isis is sent on a journey back in time to find the moment where Valeria changed everything and set the world on to the path of destruction. Isis knows what she has to do (or thinks she does) but it comes with a risk. A pretty big risk. She faces a choice and all she can see is losing Zack. Would he understand what she had to do to save the world or hate her for the rest of eternity – they are vampires, it’ll be a long time? Correcting and setting the timeline on to the right path will prevent Valeria from ever gaining control of the world once and for all. But what if that one event relating to Zack isn’t the only one that she has to change? What if Isis was wrong? What if it was the event that changed her whole life and not just Zack’s? If she can find this moment then she will have a chance of saving the world from Valeria’s evil rule. But what could it be? For Isis, it’s the one event that put her on course to being a Wiccan vampire… the fight with Valeria in her old hometown. That is what she needs to change. But has she realized too late? Which Isis will survive (or win?) 15-year-old Isis Flores Rivera or 200-year-old Isis, Vice-president of New Salem? Can both of them survive and live on their respective timelines? Does she manage to save New Salem and the world from destruction and Queen Valeria? I’m going to let you find that out for yourselves. I am so that we got to visit old characters again and in particular Luther. He has been one of my favourite characters since the very first book. I am secretly hoping that Mark (the author) will give us Luther’s full story one day. From the very beginning, meeting Sascha and Selena’s Mam, creating the Vegas show – even if it means we have to meet Valeria again. Just like the other books Witch’s Gamble was well written and the characters are well thought out. I thoroughly enjoyed it - wanting to read as much as I can, but wanting to pace myself at the same time so it wouldn’t end.
I loved this book - maybe not quite as much as the second one, but still, it was really good. The characters are great, as is the world building. One thing you should definitely do before reading this book is read the first two books. Otherwise, you will be lost. I did read the other two first and I still got confused at times. But, that often happens with time-travel books. There are so many paradoxes in here… but this is a fantasy, not science fiction, so we’ll skip them.
This book takes place 200 years after the end of “Journey to New Salem”. Zack and Isis are still taking care of New Salem. A lot has changed in the world (nuclear war) but the people of New Salem are more-or-less safe. At least, that is until the specter of Valeria raises her evil head again. Only, this time, in order for Isis to fight her, she must figure out a way to go back in time.
I won’t give away any details, but there is a lot that happens in this story. A lot. Some of it made me cock my head and say “huh?” But the writing is well-done and pulls you along with Isis as she battles for the future of the world.
Recommendation: Yes, pick this book up! BUT… pick up the first two books in the series along with it, otherwise you won’t get the full effect of what is going on.
Disclaimer: Thanks to Netgalley and the author, I received a final and/or advanced reader copy of this book with the hope that I will leave my unbiased opinion. Isis thought she and Zack had saved New Salem and everyone was safe from the evil Wiccan vampire, Valeria until strange things start to happen all around them. Valeria is once again a threat to Isis and New Salem. Isis must travel back in time and stop at different periods in time to try and undo the things that Valeria has done.
The world as Isis knows it is no more. Isis must find a way to put things back to the way they were if she wants to save New Salem and everyone that lives on the planet Earth. Can Isis save the world once again from the evil vampire, Valeria before it is too late?
Witch's Gamble was a mesmerizing little read that held my attention from the first page to the last with all its twists and turns. While I was reading Witch's Gamble I felt as I imagined Isis may have felt when she was being thrown through space and time as she time traveled.
I sort of felt like she may have felt like she was in a whirlwind, twirling around and around until she reached her destination. I imagined that everything looked like she was traveling through space without a spaceship, everything around her a black void of nothingness with stars twinkling all around her as she zoomed by each one.
I can’t wait for the next book in The Witches of Vegas series to see where their journey takes them. I hope to read more of Isis and Zack’s adventures. I would also like to read more about the vampire side of things.
I would recommend Witch's Gamble to all fans of witches, vampires, and magic. Now the time has come for you to grab your copy of Witch's Gamble for a magical adventure!
If you haven't read the first two books in this series, I urge you to read them first! This third book threw me. Every time I thought the last book was my favorite, along comes the next one. This YA fantasy picks up two hundred years after the witches of Vegas have saved New Salem from the villainous Wiccan vampire Valeria. But an experiment in time travel gone wrong may have just reset the course of all their lives past, present and future. And now Isis must gamble against time and Valeria yet again, to save the world or die trying. Every second is changing with drastic consequences. Isis must make so many tough decisions, all of them with more dire outcomes than she had anticipated.
Thanks to the author for giving us another great story. Looking forward to the future hoping Mark Rosendorf brings us more!
Just when I thought the second book was great, the third BLEW ME AWAY! The development of the characters was done so perfectly, especially considering what happened to them in the second book. The plot had me in a VICE GRIP, I will say that the first quarter of the book was a bit of a slog to get through, but I had no idea what was going to happen by the end. I felt so blindsided, and then when I went to reread the book I noticed that there were some subtle signs and hints that foreshadowed the ending and I definitely missed it.
I recommend this book to EVERYONE! Of course be sure to read the first two before this one, otherwise you'll be a bit lost, and of course even though she's the antagnoist, Valeria is still my favourite character haha.
Rosendorf does a superb job of world building and creating both lovable, relatable characters and totally despicable monsters. Witch’s Gamble presents the trials and dilemmas of the teenage witch who, alone, can save the world. This YA fantasy has it all: time travel, the kindly mentor, the evil adversary, and the ultimate triumph of true love and a good heart. Not having read the first two in this series, I occasionally felt a little confused about the roles of some of the characters. However, this did not detract significantly from the story, and on the whole, it leaves me eager for a sequel.
Isis and Zach have lived relatively peacefully in New Salem for the last 200 years. They have watched so many people they love pass away but enjoy knowing all their offspring. Who would have predicted Valeria managing to escape outer space to change history?
I think this might be my favorite book in the series so far. Isis has really matured and this story shows that. Her confidence makes me love her more. So many surprises in the suspenseful ride. So many times that we see what a truly kind and caring person Isis is. The author makes me feel like I am right there with Isis on all the adventures. If you are looking for a paranormal with a bit different twist this is a fun series.
This story had a decent premise behind it as the one of the world’s only vampire witch learns she must go back in time to stop another witch from doing the very same thing and creating a new and terrible timeline. Unfortunately I found some of the plot didn’t really make sense and the characters reactions completely unbelievable. It’s fantasy so it’s not supposed to be real but I should still be able imagine myself in the story. Without giving anything away, let’s just say it was too unrealistic for me to really get into it.
I was given a review copy of this story and I enjoyed it - I particularly liked the use of 'time'...cleverly done.
Isis' tale is filled with battles on many fronts; emotionally, physically and mentally. She is a powerful witch and always tries to do the right thing. Zack is her perfect partner. All the characters fit into the plot very well. There has to be a villain, of course, and Valeria fits the bill.
It's imaginative, magical and engaging. Apart from a few grammatical errors, it's well-written with a great sense of place.
Overall, a very good YA story that carries on from book two.
I really enjoyed this story and it was definitely my favorite of the three books. Isis and Zack are enjoying their life in Salem until things are turned upside down. Time travel, twists, turns, mystery and getting to see a glimpse of those who have passed on made this an enjoyable and easy read. It was also good to see some of the back stories those lost in previous books.
This story was easy to read and slightly scarier than the prior books. Isis and Zack are in this story but you learn a great deal about how they got to be who they are but I was actually afraid for the earth this time. I really enjoyed this book and looking forward to the next one.
Witch's Gamble is the third in a series of four books encompassing the Witches of Vegas series. In the previous books we met Isis, the main character, who discovers she has the powers of a witch, Isis's nemesis, Valeria, who is a powerful witch, Isis's significant other, Zack, and a cast of other. In Isis's battles with Valeria, Isis has gotten infected with vampire blood; therefore, both she and Zach become vampires in order to survive. As this book opens, Isis has trapped Valeria in a vortex in outer space. Valeria, however, unbeknowst to Isis, manages to escape. Meanwhile, Isis, accompanied by a team she is training, is fending off vampires who attack New Salem, a town to which Isis has relocated in Sweden. Isis responds to a summons from Dr. John, who recommends that she learn time travel so the town can anticipate future attacks. A soothsayer named Domina also pushes for Isis to learn time travel, but for a different, undisclosed reason. It turns out that by going to the past, Isis can prevent potential worldwide damage from being inflicted by Valeria. The decision to attempt time travel is debated for a while, but Isis finally relents. Time travel is Isis the witch's gamble, and results in a prolonged battle with Valeria.
Book #3 in this series is longer than the previous 2 and spends more time debating the plusses and minuses of the power of witches and vampires. As part of time travel, Isis gets a chance to reacquaint with many of the now-dead but very much alive characters in the previous books of the series. Again, the book is entertaining, and aficionados of vampires and witches will get a kick out of it.
I must admit that I wasn’t absolutely satisfied with the close of Book Two of the Witches of Vegas Series. It wasn’t quite the HEA that I would have preferred but works for that part of the saga. Mark Rosendorf has made it all good in Witch’s Gamble - mind you not without Isis going through as many trials as did Hercules of Ancient Greece.
Two hundred years after Journey to New Salem, Isis is a vampire and the most powerful witch in the world. Zack is also a vampire, and the president of New Salem. But their arch enemy Valeria has escaped into the past and sets history on a horrific path.
Isis is given a formidable task, travel through time and save reality.
Witch’s Gamble is a lovely fantasy adventure story, ideal for a Young Adult reader but enjoyable at any age. The hero is a girl who overcomes her own misgivings and insecurity to successfully fight an older, stronger, and seemingly invincible foe. She makes hard decisions along the way but keeps her love of family and humanity at her core.
Witch's Gamble by Mark Rosendorf is a young adult paranormal urban fantasy that I listened to on audio narrated by Jeffery Lynn Hutchins. This is the third book in The Witches of Vegas series.
I don't want to give any spoilers away, but I will say I really enjoyed the time traveling that Isis did in this book. I was hooked and couldn't help binging the audiobook in one sitting.
Jeffery did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of his work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like teen and young adult books, paranormal, or urban fantasy.
A wonderful addition to the Witches of Vegas series. Witch's Gamble is an interesting and unique take on the world of witches and vampires. I enjoyed how realistic this fantastical tale is told. It is set in our world today...and tomorrow 😉 A very suspenseful and thrilling story involving the end of days, a witch ruling the world, and time travel. Oh and don't forget witches, vampires, and even zombies! This one really made you love Isis all the more. Witch's Gamble is truly marvelous. The ending was a wonderful heart-warming closure.
I was traveling through time with Isis in this one. While i was prepared to miss all the characters that had been let go of in the previous 2 but I was happily surprised to find all the favourite characters so nicely weaved in this one.
Sometimes I could feel the confusion, frustration and desperation Isis felt going through different moments and times but that's exactly how great is the pen picture and storytelling of the author.
