Feel Me in the Dark

Rate this book
“Worried about it, I’m putting pressure. You’ll only cut me if I let you. No, we ain’t doing this just for pleasure. Either learn me or I’m a lesson." — H.E.R

Work.
Health.
Finessing.
That’s the hierarchy of Finley Thomas’ life. The loc-haired, stenographer was raised by a proud gold digger and against her delight, she inherited mischievous qualities from her mother. After receiving a devastating prognosis, the twenty-eight-year-old finds herself wrapped in a double-life and overly preparing for a day that may never come. Amid her downward spiral, Finley’s small circle is cracked, giving outsiders the chance to snatch her from her comfort. Mounted in the crosshairs of a fraudulent deal, Finley finds herself confronted with her secrets and forced to move her ears from her pockets to her heart or end up in the dark alone.

Business.
Family.
Business.
For five years, that’s all Preach Carbine has thought about. Knowing the weight of his last name, the meticulous man has always been strategic with his moves and as a member of a notorious street family, the arms dealer is known for meditating one minute and cutting out tongues the next. Nonetheless, with Preach knocking on thirty, he is ready to set aside family traditions and put his dreams in motion. On the flip, a tainted arrangement triggers the high-powered man to turn his scope to the people he loves and a woman he can’t seem to shake.

It’s been said that seeing is believing. What happens when one’s vision is blurred and the only thing you can trust is what you feel?

A love deserved

Listen, this was a different type of love story and I was here for it all!
Finley was special. Hard outershell, but soft on the inside. She was a hustler and wore many hats. Her night hustle got her entangled with the wrong crowd and put her in the wrath of Preach. After completing the task that causes him to spare her life, Finley leaves an imprint on Preach. After randomly crossing paths a few times initially he is pissed, but everytime he sees her the attraction is stronger. Their chemistry is off the charts and Preach let's it be known he wants her. Finley is hesitant at first because she didn't believe a man could have genuine intentions when it came to her heart. She also had a health issue she was battling and she didn't want to be a burden. It was extremely sweet the way Preach supported her while also nurturing her insecurities. She was eventually able to open up safely and allow herself to be loved and to give love right back. There was a lot of mess in the background, especially with Preach being a boss but they stayed focused on what was important and that was them, their little family.

I wanted more at the end. I would have much rather spent time with them as they navigated drama versus reading about a summary of it. Also the cover is beautiful, but doesn't represent the main character Finley whom had beautiful locs. Overall definitely worth the read!

Preach is the head of his family's crime syndicate but is more than ready to pass the torch. Finley is a court stenographer turned con artist running game for profit with the help of her friends. They cross paths for the wrong reasons, and although Preach should be keeping Finley at arm's length and Finley knows he can't be trusted, they're drawn to each other.

So I love Preach and Finley. Their banter and obvious attraction was cute. The way they met set the scene for the tension of their story and the natural push/ pull of two people trying their hardest not to fall in love. The continuing interactions once finding out they were connected in more ways than the original way added weight to their connection. It was funny watching Finley try to run away from Preach's arrogant insistence and I loved watching him apply the pressure and prove to Finley he'd show up no matter what. Her health issues felt relatable and gave her character great layers, as did her family environment. Preach wearing the crown and having the heavy head gave him some nuance I appreciated. And they were as hot as could be. I loved seeing them come together.

Omg I loved Preach and Finley soooo much! I’m glad I read Duke’s story first even though it was out of order because while really good, I didn’t enjoy his story nearly as much as theirs! Preach had this authenticity about his character that I loved. He had no problem being a real alpha and didn’t sugar coat anything to appease anyone. He was so soft on Finley and I loved that but also told her what she needed to hear. I knew from day one what Grabba was on when homeboy blamed him for the money. He got off way too easy if you ask me 😒. Finley’s mama was a straight donkey and Finley is better off without her. Once they got into a hood groove I loved the ease of Preach and Finleys love. Whenever they interacted with each other, it warmed my heart.

Blind Beauty 🖤

Preachhhhhhhhh is baeeeeeeeeee 🥰🥰🥰🥰

This was so different then what this author usually writes but it was so good and refreshing! Bonnie and Preach were EVERYTHING! This book had everything to make a good book good: kidnapping, thievery, betrayal and undeniable attraction! Two heartless hustlas that found each other when they least expected it and became each other’s everything made their journey and happy ever after very worthwhile.

I can’t wait for Duke’s book I know that’s going to be nothing but drama and I’m here for it. I highly recommend this book!

”…unlike anything else in my life, I chose you. You are no burden to me; you’re my blessing.” 🥹
Preach and Finley didn’t meet under the best circumstances but their undeniable chemistry was explosive from the jump. Both characters had so many layers to them. Finley, a stenographer who finessed on the low, was battling with a serious decline in her health. Meanwhile Preach, the head of his family’s arsenal business, struggled with the pushback he received for stepping down from a position he never actually wanted so he could pursue his architecture degree.

Initially, neither of them wanted anything to do with each other. Of course they couldn’t outrun fate and soon became the love and support they each needed. Preach’s compassion for Finley was so sweet. 🖤

3.5 ⭐️ Imagine being a woman who finesses men, & you end up getting kidnapped because of a partner you trusted 🫣😬😬!!!

Although I feel that there were some holes in the story, I loved Preach & Finley’s relationship! Finley was such a beautifully written woman, she had so many layers to her that I loved! That mama of hers was trash, but the relationship that she built with Preach’s family was top tier!! My man Percy “Preach” was THAT NI***, PERIOD!!!! Very decent read!

Preach is bae

Finley is a professional finesser but when some one in her small circle betrays her she is put in a life or death situation when arms dealer Preach get a hold of her. Luckily Preach is a good judge of character and decides not to kill Finley but instead let’s her go. Finley and Preach continue to cross paths a couple more times when Preach realizes maybe fate is trying to tell him something about Finley.

I wasn’t expecting this storyline, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had a bit of a dark romance vibe seeing as Finley fell in love with her kidnapper and all but that’s what made their story so intriguing. What I liked the most was there were many layers to both Finley and Preach. Finley was a finesser by night but a stenographer by day who was struggling with issues with her health. Preach was the head of his families arsenal side of business but also had desires to step down from his families business, get his degree, and become an architect. I loved how compassionate Preach was when it came to Finley especially when it came to her health, the love and support he showed Finley was admirable.

Not only do you get a good romance in this book but you get a little bit of kidnapping, torturing, murder, thievery, and betrayal. Tucora kept me fully engaged with everything going on in this book and Preach is definitely bae!!!

I recently came across Tucora Monique on IG so this was my first book I read of hers. I saw several post on this read for a little while so I am glad I finally got to this author on my TBR, I will certainly be checking out her catalog.

The Blind Girl & The Arms Dealer

Two heartless Hustlas or are they? 1st I have to say that this author never fails to impress me with the magical way that she takes even the most difficult and seemingly hopeless of characters and transforms them into the most beautiful and passionate lovers.

Finley is slightly cold and guarded because that’s all she knows in life, people can’t hurt you if you never put your trust in them. I really loved how Feisty and Seductive her character was. Even in the face of danger her personality was Spunky and ready for whatever.

Preach 🥰❤️Whew 🤧 Listennnn, I have not met a character of hers that didn’t have me weak in the knees and this man was no different. I love the way he commands a room with simply his presence. There’s no question of who the boss is when he’s around. The chemistry between these two was explosive from the very beginning and I loved the fact that he wasn’t afraid to go for what he wanted. This was a match made in Criminal Heaven. The Bonnie to his Clyde. Really great love story. Another favorite couple added to my already long list ❤️❤️

Preach and Finley are cute

It's a nice book. I was surprised at the beginning with fear of having a stockholm syndrome but that's not how it worked. At times I didn't feel so connected with the characters but after a few chapters I started to find their relationship cute, especially the interaction between them

Preach to me

OMG! OMG! So many emotions reading this book and a very different and unique storyline. Tucora didn’t miss nothing when telling Preach and Finley love story. I didn’t know what to expect after their first encounter but didn’t expect this beautiful love story. I loved that they both complimented one another and every scene was better than the last. Highly recommend this book.

Whew! Preach and Bonnie! I am in love! These two characters were everything! Finley, trying to make the best of her situation by stacking her paper, and finessing these men before they ever knew what hit them! Preach! A boss that inherited an empire, but it definitely did not rule his head or his heart! Finley meeting Preach was under the most intense of circumstances, but neither of them would back down! Finley was adamant of her innocence, and Preach wanted answers now! That encounter left a lasting impression, and thoughts of the other person stayed at the forefront of their minds. Getting to know one another, and spending time together they gravitated to the darkness they saw in the other person! Game recognize game! Their life experiences and influences from their parents, shaped them in ways they didn't initially realize. Then love brings them to the light! They have a love so strong that it can be felt! The way that Preach loved on, and encouraged Finley when she felt discouraged and hopeless about her circumstance made my heart smile! Finley helped Preach realize that he was deserving of living for himself, and not only for the Carbine family business! That damn Grabba! I knew he was full of ish, but never thought he would try Preach like that! He got off easy if you ask me! 😠 I loved this read, and can't wait to hear about the rest of the crew! 👍👍👍

Baby baby baby

This book was everything. I freaking lived me some Preach. Whew he has the audacity to be fine alpha paid and the sex is bomb. Plus he shows his emotions to his lady and family, What more can you ask for??? Finley was a person who was taught all the wrong things by her stupid mama. I don't like that lady. But her and Preach was definitely made for each other. I love how they just mesh together. You could feel the connection through the pages. Real and raw emotions. I liked that the drama was minimal and focused on them. The growth was everything. Phenomenal job

Love wins again

It doesn't matter how it started, but how it ends! Tucora Monique showed out with this Love Story! For tough man Percy aka Preach to have his heart stolen while he was looking, was absolutely beautiful! To think Finley had no idea what real love could be, but got to experience it on the first try took my breath away. I'd say, Preach met his match, literally. So much happened on their journey to their HEA, but they overcame it all! 💯

Let the church say PREACH🥰

I couldn’t be more prouder than a mother watching her baby take his or her first steps. Tucora Monique, you blew me away with your captivating storytelling skills. I felt all of the emotions they felt, and painted all the images in my head through their eyes. The dark gave way to light THROUGH and FOR love. Here’s to Preach and Finley, my newfound fav TM couple.

Must Read-Get Into It!

Ms. Monique, honey you did this. You wrote ✍🏾 this book. It may be different from your norm but in my eyes, it was a great idea. I don't know where to start with Preach and Finley so much transpired between the two of them. I would say their initial encounter was rocky but that is an understatement. Rocky isn't quite descriptive enough. I loved their union and how they became one. It really was a full circle how everything played out. My heart broke 💔 for Finley and her prognosis but she faced it head-on. She took the necessary steps to make sure she could live a full life. Once Preach found out about her illness he made sure to help and support her. Preach were most definitely bae. When he laced up his shoes and went to the session with Gina I was sold on Preach. He did more in that simple gesture than her mother had done since her prognosis. He also took the initiative to learn with Finley, that alone spoke volumes.

This is an emotional urban with a twist of a woman fiction book. It touches on so much from diabetes to attachment issues. It is well worth the read. You will be intrigued from the first chapter to the last. I am looking forward to Duke's story next and low-key wishing Preach and Finley are in it. I most certainly recommend this book. I am hoping this book is a start of a series. I know Duke's story is next but 🤞🏾 Jude is going to get to share his as well.

Finley is living a double life. By day, she's a court reporter, but in her free time, she's a professional finesser. Eventually, running schemes with the wrong people backfires and she finds herself caught in the middle of a mess she didn't create. Enter Preach. Preach is just trying to live his best life and meditate peacefully but finds out his organization isn't running as smoothly as he believed. Preach and Finley's worlds collide, lines are blurred, and they discover that love from the right person can get you through anything.

What I Loved:

-First of all, let's talk about this cover. The hair, the gaze, the pose, the skin, the "girls" are sitting! I just love it!

-I swear Preach was wise beyond his years, but when your government name is Percy, I kind of expect you to be 😂😂

-I loved that Finley very rarely let people see her sweat. No matter what internal battle she dealt with, outwardly, she was cool. Well🤔...outside of the "trunk situation", she was a G.

-Preach was bossy as hell (naturally, being that he was the head of an arms dealing organization) but then he would turn right around and say the sweetest, most thoughtful things to Finley and I would swoon every time🥰.

-Preach's willingness to learn how to take care of Finley because of her condition was beautiful. There was one scene in particular where Finley is feeling insecure about her condition & feeling like she would be a burden to Preach and he says "I just want you to know, unlike anything else in my life, I chose you. You are no burden to me; you’re my blessing". I could've closed the book right there🙌🏾🙌🏾 And I immediately thought to myself - Finley better not f*ck this up 😂😂😂

The book was 🔥. Go read it!

Feel Me In The Dark was a beautiful love story. It kind of has a enemies to lovers trope. Finley is captured by Preach and should have been killed but he lets her live. The two keep running into each other after the event. Preach finally realizes that he is more attractive to Finley than he lets on. There was good chemistry between the two, it was obvious from all of their interactions that they were meant to be. I loved that Finley wasn’t perfect; she has health issues and is losing her vision. Preach was such a good man, he didn’t judge Finley. Instead he participated in learning how to better support her and educated himself. I thought the author did a great job with this storyline. I liked the elements of urban / crime family and the fact that Preach wanted better for himself. He was a force but he didn’t truly want that life. There was good character development and they were like-able, I wanted to see them win! I appreciated that Finley didn’t magically get better as the story progressed and Preach didn’t try to fix her. When Finley talked about possibly never seeing her child, I legit wanted to cry. That scene was raw and definitely tugged on my heart strings. The plot twists took this story up another notch and it showed that family can be more of a threat than strangers, whew!! 🤯Overall, this was a feel good story and I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it!

A Sightless Love

The narrative of this story was well developed. The creativeness this author has for her storyline is on a different level. The ways she brought both characters together in such a unique way is simply beautiful. Finley, who is a stenographer by day and a finesser by night to men. She went from being kidnapped to falling for her kidnapper. But, being newly diagnosed with diabetes retinopathy is a huge adjustment for this loc head beauty. But, Preach helps Finley with that adjustment in mire ways than one. Preach whose the abductor of Finley is a the head of a family business that he inherits after the death of his parents. It's also a family business he doesn't want to be a part of. He prefers to work with his hands in more ways than one especially when it comes to Finley. After, falling for the sightless beauty Preach has no choice but to let love in. Both Preach and Finley can't deny their attraction and the love that's developed for each other because after all the heart wants what the heart wants!!!!!!
