This is an American journalists account of Mexico during a highway scoping expedition through northern, western pacific, and central Mexico. It was written in the 1930’s, and it shows. But I found it to be a neat and charming account of a Mexico that no longer exists. A Mexico that still remembers the revolution and has high hopes for the future. It’s ingesting to see how the climate compares to todays Mexico. A good example was the state of Michoacán being described as quaint, peaceful, with clean and beautiful cities. Today it is rife with cartel activity and one of the most dangerous areas of Mexico.
