Forget Me Twice

Rate this book
A dark contemporary reverse harem #whychoose romance.

Five years ago, Sebastian Grayson, Lexingtons’s beloved Mayor, caught word of my rare ability and lured me off the streets with a job offer I couldn’t refuse.

Literally could not refuse, because when he’s not kissing babies or approving city planning budgets, Sebastian is ruling the criminal underworld as the universally feared and revered gang lord, The Gray Man.

Now, war is brewing, and my Crew and I are charged with planning and executing the next stage of our empire’s expansion — a recruitment drive involving the next generation of local graduating students.

The mission is clear: Bring as many new grads into the fold as possible…and don’t bother coming home without the group of budding young gang leaders known as the Rox Boys.

I don’t have many memories of my life before Sebastian ‘adopted’ me, only a ragged scar, and a spiraling lack of self control. Now I find myself playing the part of a senior upperclassman in Roxborough, my supposed hometown.

There’s something about these eye-catching Rox Boys — one of the reasons why I’ve personally dubbed them The Pantheon.

I just can’t remember what it is.

This is a medium burn reverse harem that will contain MM.

Warnings: Please be advised that this series contains dark themes, including violence, criminal activity, addiction, risk-seeking behavior, sexual assault, death, and loss of loved one. Additionally, consensual sexual themes suitable for mature audiences 18+.

So Sabine is orphaned, has amnesia, has an amazing memory (despite the amnesia) and can retain millions of facts. Due to all of these things she is recruited to work for a gang/ mafia group. They are bad guys.

I thought it was a cool plot and it’s intriguing that she starts of having 2 potential harems, one is her crew and the other is her targets. I guest you would call them that. She’s very headstrong and independent, but she becomes very addicted to things, maybe to fill the void of having no meaningful relationships. I’m diagnosing here.

There is a couple of things that made this a 3⭐️ for me. She thinks literally everyone is hot, so your left thinking ‘will this person be in the harem’ and then they aren’t. Not sure why some guys were introduced.

The first chapters with Rhett was cute and now he’s a little creepy. Don’t ask why, I’m not sure. He’s giving a bad vibe.

The BIGGEST thing is that Sabine changes all the guys names to the names of Greek gods and in the next chapter she only calls them by the gods names. So that heavily confused me. Then the guys start calling each other by these names as well and then her other harem (who aren’t really a harem yet), they all get Greek god names too.

It’s like suddenly the author has renamed all her kids and we are 60% in now, I don’t have time to focus on who everyone is again. I just learned everyone’s names, don’t do this to me.

At the start of this book, the gang leaders son protects her from his dad and wants to shield her from this life. It’s a short scene, but it’s really sweet. I now need a book like this. Harem or not.

Solid RH read. Don’t think I want to continue the series though.

In terms of spiciness, it starts a bit slow (it doesn't heat up - pun intended - until about a third of the way into the book). But don't let that fool you. The first third of the book is not at all boring. It's setting the stage for an awesome book.

Having had a pretty bad head injury myself, I definitely can relate to Sabine's character pretty well, even if I haven't coped in all the same ways she has. And I think anyone who has ADHD or anxiety can definitely relate to her feeling like her brain is on overload.

The plot is pretty good, and the ending...UGH. I'm only annoyed because I want to know what happens, damnit! Considering this was just recently released, I have no idea when the next book will be out, and it's driving me insane. LOL

Ok, and now for the 🌶 level. While it's not super spice heavy, the scenes that are in the book are dark. So don't go into this expecting it to fade to black.

Overall, I gave Forget Me Twice ⭐⭐⭐⭐. It's got spice, it's got danger, it's got conspiracy...all good things for a great read.

Sabine is a broken mess, but she has savant like perfect memory, which makes her valuable. But when she takes things a little too far, her boss sends her on a nearly impossible mission to recruit more members, specifically the Rox Boys to their crew. It was interesting seeing the world through Sabine’s mostly emotionless filter. The guys are interesting, although also broken. The ending leaves you with a lot of questions, and I can’t wait to see what happens next for Sabine and her Pantheon.

What is it with Australian RH authors ending their books with cliffhangers?? First Tate James and now E.J. Campbell...I'm lodging a formal complaint.

In all seriousness, WOW this was so on the mark. I saw quotes from Forget Me Twice posted by The Book Spice and I immediately downloaded it without even reading the blurb. ZERO regrets.

It is a fast read, it only took me less than 24 hours to burn through this one, and while it was tough trying to keep everyone's name straight, I was glued to the story.

Sabine Winters is a mess. She is found on the streets living as a pickpocket by The Grey Man, who is some gangster leader who decides to use her savant-like eidetic memory skills to his advantage. Because of these skills and some damaging psychological training Sabine received from Sebastian, she has a lot of issues and is an adrenaline junkie, a drug addict, and is a constant state of "let's see how I can mess up my life today." She has no sense of self-preservation and really no person should trust her to handle anything on her own.

Regardless of all of that, I think she's great...damaged as hell, but great all the same. I love a flawed character, and I really hope that she ends up going through a character redemption arc...in the way that it makes her more empathetic to her men, not so much that it changes who she is as a person.

Also - the men....I'm so wildly confused who will be in her "harem" because there are a LOT of players here. I counted at least 8 possibilities between the original Crew: Jax, Rhett, Knox, & Foster...though for them my only contenders would be Jax and Rhett; and the Pantheon: Tristan, Callum, Lake, & Atlas. To make matters more confusing, about 60% of the way through, Sabine gives them all Greek God style nicknames: Tristan is Apollo, Callum is Ares, Lake is Hermes, and Atlas is Hades. Even Rhett gets Dionysus as his nickname and creates a secret one for Jax (IYKYK). Don't get me wrong, I think it's fun - but it's confusing as hell.

And the spice....holy hot jambalaya, I'm HERE for this group. Rhett being into the primal play kink, Tristan is obv a Dom Daddy, and Lake is the perfect submissive psychotic simp. Give me more PLEASE.

I need my questions answered and there are a lot of them so I cannot wait for book 2 to come out.

Loved this book!
Was recommended it by a fellow Smut reader and it didn't disappoint. The only down side? It ended on one heck if a cliffhanger and there's no date for the next book as yet!!!! Arrgghhhh!!! 😲🙈😲🙈! 🤭🤭🤭🤍🤍

We start this following Sabine, a homeless pickpocket who's been watched by someone but she's trying to avoid them. It doesn't work. It turns out this person is Sebastian, the mayor and, quietly, the head boss of the underground group the Suits.

Sabine had a car accident 2 years ago that left her with a physical scar along her temple and also with a photographic memory. It's this that Sebastian wants from Sabine.

We then start the mission. Sabine is alone physically in this, at a high school to recruit people for the Suits. In particular the 4 boys as the top alpha group that are known as "Rox Boys".

She suffers the usual bullying, but there's also something that the Rox Boys seem to be disturbed by. They seem to think Sabine is dead from a car accident. They knew her from before.

This could cause some issues....
A paternity test left us with dropped jaws for Jax.....

I'm wondering if this is the beginning of the end for the Suits! But we'll see!!

This is my first read from this author and I'm really impressed! I will be picking up another with hopes that they'll be just as good! 😉🥰

This book wrecked me—in the best way. From the start, I was hooked and wildly confused, piecing together a dark, twisty puzzle. I spent the first half trying to make sense of what was going on, constantly questioning what was real, what was remembered, and what was being kept from me as a reader. Sabine is a brilliant, broken, fascinating character, and I felt like I was falling down the rabbit hole with her. Her memory, her trauma, her connection to the Rox Boys… I felt like I was falling down the rabbit hole with her. Every chapter added another layer of mystery, tension, and emotional depth. I didn’t trust anyone fully, and I kept flipping pages trying to get just one more answer.
Even by the end, I was still unsure of everything—but it felt intentional. E.J. Campbell keeps you off balance in a way that makes you need to keep reading. I stayed up until 1am, completely consumed. The writing is sharp, the characters morally gray, and the stakes painfully high.
My only criticism? Too many characters and then the nicknames—it got confusing. But if you love dark stories with unreliable memories, tangled dynamics, and an earned reverse harem, Forget Me Twice is a must-read.

⭐️:5 of 5 📚: 324 pages 🌶️: 5 of 5

Read it if you like:
✔️ Dark contemporary romance
✔️ Why choose
✔️ Medium burn
✔️ Reverse harem
✔️ Criminal activity,
✔️ Cliffhanger

Blurb: In this dark reverse harem romance, a girl with a rare ability is recruited by crime lord Sebastian Grayson. Years later, she must infiltrate Roxborough High to recruit rising gang leaders—especially the alluring group she calls The Pantheon—while grappling with a forgotten past and a dangerous mission.

My thoughts: I devoured this book and loved every second of it! From the first page, it had me hooked and never let go. Packed with steam, tension, and non-stop drama, it’s the kind of story that keeps your heart racing. And just when you think you’re safe… boom—a jaw-dropping cliffhanger that left me screaming for more! The FMC Sabine, is pure perfection—this is what a strong, badass woman should be. The witty banter, the dynamic characters, and all their interactions were absolute gold. I’m seriously counting down the days until I can dive into book two—I need to know what happens next!

DNF @ 60%

It was just too over written. I felt like I was trying to walk through a pool of honey. I was putting in the effort but getting absolutely no where. At 60%, the MC had had sex with 2 men who I don’t believe are going to be the main love interests, absolutely nothing had happened in the story. She had spoken to the ‘rox boys’ maybe a handful of times and there was zero chemistry or even intrigue that I could be bothered continuing with.

There was so much detail. I get that the FMC has a super brain and can remember everything, but why does she have to be constantly reminding us of that? I may not have her super brain, but I can remember that without it being shoved in on every page. The character was in her head so much that the scenes felt disjointed and didn’t flow.

In one chapter, the character walked into the cafeteria, everyone looked at her, and then… NOTHING HAPPENED for the entire chapter because she was in her head. So the next chapter got into the cafeteria scene, and it was boring AF.

You know those books that have all the tropes you love and ticks all the boxes? Well, Forget Me Twice was that book for me. I happened upon it when browsing the store on my kindle app and started it almost immediately. I loved it!

There is drug and alcohol use as a coping mechanism, the dark side of mental heath is exposed, so proceed a bit with caution.

Sabine is definitely one of my favorite FMCs. She's got a unique skill, she's tough, but she also uses sex, drugs and alcohol and an eraser and to numb. I haven't gotten a good grip on all the guys (still not sure how many she won't choose between.) She's nicknamed quite a few of them after Greek gods, which fit their personality.

I got to the end and now I'm thinking back to different things that have happened. One thing changed the whole direction of the book for me. I've got lots of questions and need some answers.

I'm really glad I found this book and I can't wait to see where the series goes!!

This book and the series had soooo much potential, but I feel like I was reading a nature documentary about bonobo apes, because these characters would basically fuck each other as a way of greeting. There was no slow build-up to any relationships or romantic encounters: it was basically just a rush to remove to the FMC's undies and thrust into her.

The potential was also wasted on the FMC being a boring junkie, who, despite having an incredible memory, didn't do much with it. She merely memorized a list of people. Suuuuch wasted plot potential there.

And also, the thing that seemed to bug me the most was that this girl's identity was supposed to be a huge secret, yet she pretty much outs herself at the first opportunity. She even uses her actual name while being undercover?? She had zero talents, smarts, or chill, apparently.

Oh, and don't get me started on the GODDAMN STUPID Greek god nicknames. I gave up at that point, pretty much. Such a useless idea, I'm sorry to say.

Thoughts:
🍭Had a hard time putting it down. The plot progresses quickly and keeps you guessing
🍭I knew halfway through that I probably wasn’t going to like the end. I had just realized that I broke my rule and read an unfinished series.😬 (I am a little bit anti-series)
🍭Because it is a series there wasn’t much of the plot that was finished, and it doesn’t have much subplot either. For the most part she’s just running around the new school doing drugs, committing violence, and occasionally having sex.
🍭It ends on a cliff hanger, so be prepared for that.
🍭I has some steamy scenes, but to be honest with all the warnings I was expecting more. 🤷🏻‍♀️
🍭There was no MM in this novel, there is mention of MFM but it doesn’t happen in this book.

Ends in a cliffhanger.
What the hell? Where is the next book? Don't do this to me....

I am in love. This book is how a school bully RH is supposed to be!
Our FL Sabine is just perfection (to me) she is how badass bi*ches should be. She doesn't feel fake like some other try-hard female characters can. Sabine has a scar and no memory of before her accident, Shes been recruited off the streets by The Greyman to work for The Suits because she has an amazing recall and a keen eye for details. the gift leaves her with crushing headaches and a need for an escape.

Lots of sex with different people (which is awesome) and great dirty talk.
An Awesome read and something I would happily re-read again!

Holy shit this was as addictive as Sabines' drug problem!

This book is full of grit, and I am here for it! I've gone feral for book 2 to be completely honest. (Cue author stalking for updates)

Sabine is our FMC, and honestly, I love her sass! She had a brain injury, and since then, things have been different for her. She uses d*ugs to keep things "quiet" in her head, but she still can't remember her past.

You've got some rivalry gangs going on and are gathering teams and its Sabines job to bring in the newest recruits.

Just so you know, this is a why choose situation read, and I salivating, waiting to see whose next!

**trigger warnings**
Drug use
Slightly non con, but she's really into it.

Overall ☆☆☆☆/5
Spice ★★★★/5

Look, I’m not colorblind. Despite having by far the best home life of the four, the boy’s got red flags for fucking days.

Look, I’m always on the lookout for a new vibe why choose story and I was so into this one. EJ has such a cool writing style and Sabine’s inner monologue absolutely fascinated me. Her ability to catalogue everything makes her a super unique FMC. I was so intrigued by the storyline as Sabine and her crew infiltrate the rival city Prep school and find themselves in a complex Underworld as they attempt to come out on top. The tension between her and all the guys was palpabale and hot AF. Book 1 definitely focuses on setting you up with character backgrounds and yet it still makes everything so entertaining. We get a pretty big bomb cliffhanger and I’m definitely diving right into book 2!

This was a quite enjoyable read but had some things I couldn’t look past. There were quite a few typos that I would have expected to be fixed by now since the book has been out about a year. And the author’s note lists what to expect in the series in terms of tropes/relationships and you barely see any of them in this book which is unfortunate. This book is mainly told from Sabine’s POV but we get a random chapter from one of the guys here and there and for me it pulled me out of the story because of how infrequent it was. I plan to read the next book because I like this world and what to see what happens next.

what a ride

Although this book kept me entertained in some parts, I found myself skimming several pages. I am eager to see how the Rox Boys and Sabe are intertwined but not sure I’m in the right space to read book 2 at the moment. I find I enjoy a college setting more so than high school, especially for a WC with spice and I think that’s what has me losing focus during this book. As a reader, that’s just a preference and not meant to take away from the author at all, especially considering I went into this book completely blind; as I do majority of the books I read. Giving Forget Me Twice a strong 3.5 ⭐️ and 2🌶️.

Plot: 3/5 • Smut: 3.5/5 ————-> It’s not that I didn’t like this book it just left me more confused than anything. She’s on a mission to recruit a new team for her “boss”. While away on the mission she meets the four top dogs of the academy. Of whom she wants to recruit. They seem to be instantly infatuated with her. In their POVs they know her “from before” but it never goes into how or why. Which annoyed the shit out of me.

Good smutty scenes with certain number of the guys, and some of her team. I love a girl who goes for what she wants. Even if she’s insatiable.

This didn’t capture my interest enough to continue the duet. I will leave it at book one. ✌🏼

Whilst I love a bit of spice and have read why choose books before they've normally been fantasy rather than contemporary/dark romance but this sounded interesting as well as being short and spicy!
I really enjoyed it and liked Sabine though I've not quite choose my favourite boy yet! The spice was good, especially the first and last "scenes" 🌶 🥵. This book isn't just spice there's also a good story and so many questions! Who is Sabine? Who is she to the Rox boys? What will happen with Jax??? Suppose I'll have to wait for book 2 to find out!

This book was amazing. If you like mafia based dark romance and very dirty sex. This is for you. I adored the boys in this book and their devotion to Sabine. Sabine is thrust into a world she couldn’t refuse. She has to recruit the next generation. Her life may depend on it but of course nothings easy and Sabine finds first hand how difficult her task becomes the moment she meets the Rox boys. Wow so many plot twists in this book and so many WTF moments. I can’t wait for book two as shits going to hit the fan and a lot of mysteries solved. I can’t wait for some
Sweet revenge and anarchy.

I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down, the character building and general writing style of this author absolutely sucked me in! This book contained everything I love about RH but was done in such a different and unique way. I cannot wait to continue this series and get some much needed answers when the next book is released, and will definitely be buying a paperback copy as soon as it's available!

Excuse me, this is a debut novel?

I was lucky enough to win a copy of this book in an Bookstagram competition and I am so glad I chose this book!
There was no putting this down once I had started reading. It was addictive and I need the next one.

I liked that Sabine is an unapologetically imperfect character, she struggles with her control and reaches out for anything that can help her feel numb. That recklessness leads to the banter and snark that I thoroughly enjoyed.
There are also multiple POVs from the Roxy boys, introducing us to the inside of their heads which I love.

This is a dangerous story with a lot on the line and I foresee a few more twists in the next book. I cannot wait!

Well, this book got me out of a reading slump! I need to reread it as I want more, and I need the second book like yesterday 😅

I can't wait to find out more about Sabine's past and where she is going to go. This girl knows how to get what she wants and how to make the boys weak.

Please be warned that there are triggers in this book, so please check them out before reading. I haven't come across anything that triggers me yet.

And the spice ❤️‍🔥 100% whychoose and I'm loving

Okay so I really wish authors would start aging their characters up. You really expect me to believe that an 18 year old kid is a huge, bulky enforcer for dark underground dealings. I don’t think so.

Other than that though I did actually enjoy this book and am excited for the next one.

But also I was just wrapping my head around the six male main characters, don’t go changing them to Greek nicknames just yet.

Winters is one fucked up character.

Enjoyed this book, so there's so much intentional wrong with the characters its right !

Did find the whole drug malarkey a bit sad but guess that's just me.

After reading found out it was this authors first book, thats awesome, she's good. Will keep an eye out for the next in the series .
