Ling Xi was discovered by a talent scout in an underpass.
His personality was optimistic, silly and his appearance delicate and pretty. Ling Xi who could only compose music and write lyrics, did not manage to be a superstar. His record sales were not very good and could only float in the entertainment world where newbies are always coming in. Until his agent used all his effort to obtain a job for him – to perform the ending song of a xian xia show and act a small role in it.
An Ruifeng was an extremely popular idol male god with a mixed-race looks. Even though he debuted not long ago, but he had the looks, the talent and a good background. Such a gifted person would have a number of rivalry scenes with Ling Xi in the show.
But what surprised Ling Xi even more was, the mighty An Ruifeng was actually very kind to a humble, insignificant singer like him, and willingly let him hug his golden thigh to increase exposure!
Very fluffy, and just such a sweet book. This is a realistic book, where the MC isn’t a rising star and doesn’t actually want to be that famous. A ML who isn’t op and actually struggles with his acting career. It isn’t to the point where it sours the story, but it does have that realistic touch that some readers might not enjoy. Despite it being realistic, it is such a sticky, sickening (in a good way), sweet love- the translator describes this book as “cotton candy” and I can’t help but agree. It’s so sweet and cute, so fluffy and refreshing. Not much happens, very slice of life.
MC has a refreshing personality. Just when I thought that this would be like your typical entertainment industry novel where faceslapping is pretty common, it shows you the art of letting go. This is comedy, though, so it's a very light, heartwarming read.
The first half had me cringing with so much second hand embarrasment, im surprised I managed to finish the book. the latter half was a lot better and I thought the ending was pretty nice. Ling Xi deciding to give up on being famous and doing music as a passion rather than a career was a nice change and Im happy he was successful with his milk tea job. Most MC are always about being successful and having drive where as im glad Ling Xi recognises his own limits and what can be achieved and stays true to himself
Warm and happy novel. Do not read expecting the usual "protagonist will rise to the top" trope. Our silly and lovely MC understands his wants and needs well for all his happy-to-go-lucky and seemingly silly attitude, and at the end of the day, his point is to experience and enjoy life. Characterization is done well, and I enjoyed how upfront the MC is about his feelings and wants. A couple parts could've been fleshed out more, but for me, most of those were the extras anyway.
I went into this one expecting a short fluff piece — and it delivered! But the author did such a great job with characterization that this story stands out. They also deal with the subject of entertainment business with surprising maturity. The journey our protagonist goes through in the novel is not the usual path we see in this sort of story. Refreshing.
Ohhhh how I loved this book. Ling Xi is just so close to my heart, he's such a wonderful character and I adore him. An Ruifeng was lovely too definitely and as a couple, they're just so fluffy and so sweet ;-; Solid set of supporting characters too. Definitely would re-read a billion times.
A cute and fluffy story between a talented musician who never really got famous and a handsome actor who's at the top. I completly understood Ling xi's career decision at the end, and I was happy that he came to that conclusion. Also it's good to see An Ruifeng struggling in his acting career.
