About the author

K.C. Lynn is a small town girl living in Western Canada. She grew up in a family of four children—two sisters and a brother. Her mother was the lady who baked homemade goods for everyone on the street and her father was a respected man who worked in the RCMP. He’s since retired and now works for the criminal justice system. This being one of the things that inspires K.C. to write romantic suspense about the trials and triumphs of our heroes.

The short of it:

The heroine was a GOLDEN CLAM who did dumb shit despite being "perfect."

What's a "golden clam" you say?

Well.

This is a phrase that me and my work man buddies use to refer to a certain type of female.

What kind of female you say?

A female whose vagina is apparently just so fucking magical that it drives otherwise sane men crazy, prompting them to commit a buffet of crimes including but not limited to peeping, stalking, kidnapping, and other more general forms of douchebaggery.

In other words?

Her milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.





Seriously, everyone seemed to adore little Miss Perfect Julia.

Ugh.

Also, scenes and emotional shifts happened too quickly for them to feel completely...authentic for me.

And, oh yeah, someone "giggled," "giggles," or was "giggling" so often that I wanted to giggle a fork into my fucking eye. I stopped counting at 28.

I hate "giggling" characters.

When I read any variation of "giggle," I see this:




SEXY.



Aside from the giggle/giggles/giggling?

Growling. So much growling.

So much growling and giggling.

But I digress.

All in all, this was just a little too...cheesy and slightly more immature than I prefer...HOWEVER!

However.

I have read a later book in this series and enjoyed it a lot more. And even this one had good enough "bones" to make me curious about the next one.

So while I didn't lurve it, I don't regret reading it, especially for the price I paid for it AKA, fucking free.

I have really been struggling on how to rate this romance. These are my thoughts....

Jaxson and Julia meet as teenagers and through an act where Jaxson saves her they become best friends. Jaxson is the local bad boy and he feels that he needs to leave the small town where they live in order to make something of himself so he joins the Navy to become a SEAL.

Julia is being raised by her grandmother after her mother dies. She meets bad boy Jaxson and is instantly smitten but he doesn’t pay her any attention, or so she thinks. After Jaxson saves her from an attack they form a strong bond of friendship but she secretly loves him.

The book spans years and shows the development of their relationship. It starts out great but it becomes a little dull by the 60% mark because it chronicles their life day by day and it notes every little thing that they do. Very little conflict noted except for internal and fighting their feelings for one another. It was kind of difficult to finish. I really liked the characters of Jaxson and Julia but I don’t think the book needed to be so long because a lot of the details are just tedious. It had a lot of potential and was just an ok read for me. Not bad and not great.

It was HOT and it was fucking BEAUTIFUL!!!

4 Tempting Stars.

Julie moved with her grandparents when she was 17, after the death of her mother. She makes good friends and she falls in love with Jaxson. He’s only her best friend and neither of them wants to jeopardize their friendship… until Jax announces he’s leaving to join the Seals. Julie decides that is the moment to share her true feelings, but he tells her that he doesn’t deserve her. Now, six years and some drama later, Jax is back in town. And he’s decided to get back the girl he let go once. Julie doesn’t want her heart broken again… but when someone keeps stalking her and making clear that doesn’t Jax back in her life… she may have no choice but to trust Jax again, even if only to save her life.



KC Lynn is a new found author for me, but I can definitely tell she is one who came to stay. I like her stories, her characters and for some reason, in her books the “insta-everything” completely works for me. In this one I have some annoyances with the hero (see below), but other than that it was a sweet, romantic and steamy book and in the end of the day, that’s all I’m asking! So if you want to book with hot tattooed and alpha Seals, nice heroines and you’re a fan of a second chance love story, this is definitely a good choice.



Rating: 4 Stars.
Characters Development: Julie was a great heroine. She was sweet, fierce and loyal. She never gave up on Jaxson, even when he would be an obstinate asshole. I really, really liked her. So this is a rarity for me… but this time my problem was with the hero. Don’t get me wrong, I really liked him and he was a great alpha-male, but I hated how he fought his feelings for so long and kept pushing Julia away. Even when he came back to fight for her he was holding back, and yet he kept sending mixed signals and having some really foolish attitudes. But he eventually redeemed himself and it as all good. It had a great group of supporting characters, I can’t wait to read Sawyers and Cade’s story!
Steam: Hot.
Sensible Subjects: Mental and Physical Abuse.
Love Triangle: No.
Cheating: No.
HEA: Yes.

I can't stomach any more of this story. What I've read so far has put me off.

I HATE JAXSON.

He spends 7 years banging other women while keeping the stupid doormat Julia "on ice" and threatens all other guys in town to stay away from her. Yep, he's having a good ole type screwing woman after woman but she's not even allowed to go on a date with a guy. And this is because even though he wants her "more than anything" the poor liitle dear, he's just not good enough for her. No, instead he's good enough for every other woman instead.

So when he does finally deflower this doormat after 2 years of their intense "friendship" during which she tells him she loves him (imbetween all the other women he's sleeping with) he rejects her and leaves town for 6 years, all this time he continues with woman after woman. She on the other hand "only wants him".

Even when he's back in town and trying to get her back after 6 years this is his response to a girl flirting with him:

“I’m off in an hour, wanna hook up?”

I actually think about it for a split second. I haven’t been with anyone since Iraq, it’s been a really long fucking year without sex. But I know from experience that fucking any other girl won’t do anything to get my intense need for Julia out of my system."

Oh yeah, he's really a great guy this one. Asshole!

KC Lynn’s Men of Honor series is one that’s been on my TBR for a long time. The first book finally became available on audio and I started listening right away. There was a lot I loved about this book, but the hero drove me mad. I’m a sucker for a broken guy (bring on Cade’s book PLEASE) but for some reason, there were things Jaxson did/said that rubbed me the wrong way and I just couldn’t get over it completely. Still- I did enjoy many things and I’ll be checking out more of the series because I loved some of the side characters and enjoyed the authors writing style!

The Men of Honor Series focuses on three friends that are Navy Seals. All three of them are the definition of "hot alpha males with some serious emotional scars" to boot! Fighting Temptation features the story of Julia and Jaxson.

Julia and Jaxson are best friends. Julia loves Jaxson and has always wanted more.

In an effort to escape the rumors and ridicule of small town life, Jaxson signs up to be a Navy Seal. Julia is devastated and decides he can't ship out before he knows what is in her heart.



Just as Julia declares her love, Jaxson gives into his desire and they finally kiss. As soon as things start happening between the two, Jax pulls away and Julia is broken. She gathers up enough strength to see him off.



Julia never gives up on Jax. Time passes and she surprises him at his graduation. Before he ships out to Iraq, they share a magical night of passion together.



Jax leaves for Iraq. While in Iraq, he suffers at the hands of some very evil people. He and his two brothers (who you will get to know in the second and third book) go through hell.



Once they finally get out, Julia tries to see Jax. She just wants to be with him. He refuses to see her. Your heart breaks for both of these characters. You want to know what happened to Jax to cause him so much pain.

Years pass, and Jax tries to reconnect with Julia. She will have nothing to do with him. This book is about second chances. Learning that you are good enough to be loved. Jax is broody and possessive. Julia is fun, smart, and sassy! Watching these two banter was double the fun! Julia has a sweet grandma and all of the supporting characters are fun and mysterious!

This read is full of action, suspense, great friendships, and full of maximum steam! It is an easy read and I found it refreshing to just focus on these two beautiful characters finding their way. PTSD is a big theme in this series. Although many may say they have read this type of story before, I loved all of these characters and would highly recommend this series to anyone looking for a sweet romance! I mean don't we all deserve a little HEA? P.S. Every book in this series gets better and better!

4 and a Half Star More if I Could Stars



Soooo, this is the first book in the Men of Honor series reading order, but as luck would have it, it's the third one I've read.

Yeah, out of order's just how I roll.

Despite the fact I haven't had the time to review these books past my initial star rating, I want to give a big high five to K.C Lynn for writing a consistently entertaining series. I've rated each of the books 4 Stars which is a rarity for me. I mean come on, one of them has to blow, right? Not so much, I'm happy to say.



Thank you, Ms. Lynn, for making the time I spent stuck in airports this past week suck a little less.

When I read this book two years ago - I loved it very, very much!
Now, I decided to go back to it, this time in audio - and the amount of clichés caused me a headache because I could not stop rolling my eyes.

I hate it when my expectations for a book are high and I can't give it the stars I was hoping for... I really wanted this to be a 5 stars story, because I know K.C.Lynn is awesome, but unfortunately I was wrong about this one.

After reading Beautiful Insightful, I knew that this author will be on my TBR list with a lot of books, because the story was amazingly written, a perfect package of love, action, steamy scenes and funny dialogues. So, I ended up choosing Fighting Temptation, because it had to be as perfect as the previous one, right?:)

Well, it wasn't.. It was like a copy paste of Beautiful Insightful, but longer and with an annoying hero.. So, let me tell you something about the story.. Julia has been in love with Jaxson all her life, since the night he rescued her from a terrible situation. They became best friends but were secretly in love with each other, afraid that if they confess their feeling, their friendship will not be the same again.

One day, Jaxson tells Julia he has been accepted to join the SEAL forces and off he goes, because he wanted to make a better life for himself outside the town they live in. While Julia was sweet and very well seen by others, Jaxson was considered trouble, a bad boy that breaks everything he touches, mainly because of his resemblance to his father that had quite a reputation. Because of this, Jaxson always maintained his distance, considering Julia much better than he was and wanting someone better for her than a guy that can't be saved.

From this point on, a push and pull relationship begun, and Julia ended up confessing her feelings to Jaxson, only to have them refrained again because of his inability of being sincere with her and revealing how he feels. You can imagine my frustration during the story, because a part of me understood Jax's reasons, but another part just couldn't put the pieces together and figure out what was wrong with him. After he left to become a SEAL, everything went south, the relationship became more complicated, certain tragedies happen that led to a lot to deal with from both sides. It was a whirlwind of actions, dramas that from time to time I considered them too long and unnecessary.

Julia was a fine heroine for me, although there were time when I considered her very imature and too sensitive, but maybe I was just bored by the action of the book and interpreted it badly. Jaxson pissed me off regularly, with this " friends-lovers I don't deserve you thing". As I said before, I knew that he was partially right, but the whole drama got extended too much for my liking and made me extremely annoyed on his behaviour and actions. He was too posesive, too angry and took BAD decisions, while thinking he was doing the right thing. Why guess what Jaxson, you weren't:) you just wasted 6 years could have been marvelous but ended up being full of tears and longing.

As I said, maybe my mood was off or maybe I just didn't have the necessary patience to understand the book, mostly because it was a loooong version of Beautiful Insightful. I expected something more original, with different characters and plot. The copy paste of the plot kind of killed my vibe, but I will give the series a second chance and begin the second instalment, with Grace and Sawyer as heroes. Wish me luck:)

So, I am struggling with how to actually rate this book.

The heroine was a bit whiny and seemed to either cry or giggle most of her way through the book.
She pushes for stuff that the hero has made it obvious he cannot give, then gets upset and sulky when he cannot give it. Puts herself in stupid situations, like going out with someone who has proven to be a knob, gets told he is more of a knob than she thought, a dangerous ex GF assaulting knob, has said knob acting in a way that makes her nervous so ofc, when her friends offer to take her home after her date with the knob, she declines as she is sulking about stuff with the hero, who is also in the group of friends, so goes off alone with the knob who proves he is the King of Knobs.

The hero, a typical "I am too damaged, I don't know how to love blah blah blah" hero who keeps pushing the heroine away while his dick disobeys him by constantly pointing toward the heroine like some kind of meaty dowsing rod.

If something could go wrong for the H/h in this book, it did.





BUT I finished it and did sort of enjoy it, even though , for me the H/h were very immature and not at all acting like 24/26 year old, one who has been in the Navy and one a supposed qualified teacher.

And I am interested in Sawyer and especially Cade so shall be carrying on, since I got the series in a bargainous box set!

I really wanted to give this book a chance and love it. I have a thing for unpopular self – published books that from time to time turn up to be real gems. I hoped this would be the case with Fighting Temptation by K. C Lynn. The blurb quickly caught my attention and the cover only screamed at me ‘Pick me up! Pick me up’ and I gave in. I know I shouldn’t have done this completely blind and oblivious, but I did it anyways (curiosity killed the cat and obviously This bookworm here too).




I’m very sorry to say it unfortunately didn’t make me fall in love with it and it’s not because of the story itself. Well, it wasn’t the best and most original plot for sure, but it wasn’t that terrible to DNF it so mercilessly.

Mostly, I had a hard time reading Fighting Temptation because of poor editing. I also didn’t enjoy the writing much. And as usually I don’t mind few typos here and there or lack of comas, as English is not my mother language and I make lot of mistakes too, I was very easily distracted from the story every time I found a lacking coma. It was hard for me to understand what was said because of it.

The plot was unoriginal and I felt like I’ve read it hundreds of times before, so I wasn’t impressed by it too. I hope next one in the series will be more refreshing.

I luv this book its just brilliant from start 2 finish the story is about Julia an Jaxson Julia moved in with her gram when she was young after her mum dyin she was very close to an she was a great mum so Julia was goin through a bit of a hard time but she luvd her gram an she knew she would b ok but there is one person in town that everyone talks about an that's Jaxson Reid he is the hottest guy an he knows but she is attracted to him straight away but every woman as had a piece of him an he is a pretty tough guy but once he gives u that sexy smirk he has u



Jaxson is known al over there lil town an not in a good way an it's not because he luvs the woman or is a bad ass it's his dad he was a total arsehole an wasn't that great with Jaxson either his mum left when she couldn't put up with his dad anymore so but she also left Jaxson with his no good dad after his dad died Jaxson's life got a lil better he spent most of his time with his best friend Copper but one day he heard about a new girl in time an he had to b see who this girl was an when he seen her he knew he had to have her in his life an he would make it happen he just didn't think it would happen the way it did



These 2 were stick together from that moment an he would do anything for her she was his end of story no one was havin her but if only the same went for Julia she luvd him so much but they were just best friends she luvd him more than anything an then when he tells her that he is goin in the Navy Seals her life is turned upside down he is everything to her he made everything good an helped when she lost her mum an moved to town an now he was goin she could cope if something happened to him so she had to tell him how she felt before he went an when she did that an it didn't go the way she had hoped



I luvd this story loads they both went through so much an sometimes Jaxson is a total pain in the ass an would make things so hard for her an he did some really bad stuff but she never could stop never luvin him even when he pushed her so hard Ye she hated what he did an she made him work his ass of to get back into her good books an boy did he I luvd the chemistry between these 2 they were made to be together an once she wore him down an final got a piece of him things got really hot an steamy an she couldn't get enough an he couldn't either he knew she was beautiful but when she was there wantin him he had never seen anything more beautiful



I couldn't get enough of this book it was just great I really enjoyed it an I m dyin to read more of the series an author I enjoyed who it was written the characters were just great I luvd Jaxson's strong alpha hulking ways Ye I wanted to slap him a few times but he is super sexy an alway wanted the best for Julia an she was just as good she kept Jaxson on his toes they had been through so much but it made this story what it was I would highly recommend it an I m delighted I 've found another great author xxx

4.5 Tempting Stars!

Loved this one!


This story was my favorite type of trope... girl loves boy, girl confesses love to boy, boy acts like a jerk and rejects girls love.. then spends a lot of time making up for his douchery. Throw in friends to lovers and an OTT alpha male and you are just hitting every one of my spots ! And that was Fighting Temptation.. from page one until the end I was sucked in to Jaxson and Julia's story. I even love their names.. Plus a group of side characters/best friends that really added to the story rather than just being throw in additions made this story even more enjoyable.


Jaxson and Julia were seriously hot together and K.C. did not skimp on any details and she gave us plenty of steamy moments.. My only complaints, keeping this from being a 5 star book were Julia turning on the tears a little to often.... and the use of the word "ya". The word should have been "yea" not ya. Ya was used a lot and every time I saw it I caught myself saying it in a jaunty accent Yaaaaaaah! That's a very small peeve.. just annoyed me a bit.

Definitely looking forward to the next book in this series!

Not a big fan of a hero who turns to being a manwhore because he doesn't want to "hurt" the heroine. This H has had sex with multiple women even after he and the h get together and she tells him she loves him. Bye.

Julia was sweet. Quite naive and cries on a dime but I liked her.

Jaxson was a total a$$hole and I just wanted to kick him in the balls. The over-dramatic/He-Man/Bossy behavior went beyond ridiculous. Seriously! It felt like the author took every alpha characteristic from various books and created this bafoon. (Hint:less is more!!)

This is my first K.C. Lynn read and to be honest I picked up this book because of the narrators. I love Callie Dalton and Teddy Hamilton and they need to do lots of book together.

Even though I rated this book 3 stars, it wasn’t a bad book, it just wasn’t anything memorable nor unique.

The book was written in 2014 and a lot of romance stories have been written since then. There’s a certain formula to writing and if you want all the boxes checked, well this one is for you. It’s a really cheesy book, but sometimes people want the cheese.

Julia and Jaxson what can I say about them? I personally found Jaxson very difficult to like. But let’s get into the story.

Julia and Jaxson are best friends and Julia is in love with him. I’ve never been fond of the Heroine chasing the Hero so that should have been a red flag for me. On the night he is about to leave for the military she confesses her love for him.

You can guess what happens.

Jaxson is the type of character with the typical damaged soul complex. Grew up with an awful father, doesn’t think he would ever be good for his perfect best friend Julia. The self-loathing was hard to read only because it’s the theme of the entire book. To me, that wasn’t a good enough reason.

The book fast forwards 5 years later with a flash back and lots more happen. More stuff Jaxson does that I don’t agree with, but that’s how much he cares for her right? He’s willing to not see her for 5 years. I mean when he refuses to see her even though he almost died, I was like really?! What a prick

Julia is a strong girl and no matter how many verbal punches Jaxson throws at her, she doesn’t back down. Gosh I really wanted this girl to get a back bone, I really did.

The book has angst and the back and forth between the two of them was giving me whip lash. On top of that, a HUGE chunk of the book has Jaxson’s flash backs during his time when he was **GASP** captured. I know, shocking right? Not really.

I kind of found his flash backs more of another side story and I rather pursue that storyline more than the Jaxson and Julia saga but that’s me.

Then you throw in a crazy stalker, and some baby daddy and you have all the ingredients of a typical romance read. Oh and I rolled my eyes when Jaxson wasn’t happy about the baby and yes throws a tantrum, I basically lost all hope for him

Like I said, it’s not a bad story, it just wasn’t my cuppa. I don’t really like military books to begin with but I loved the narrators so much I went in with it anyhow.

4.5 Bad Boy Stars



Oh I do love finding a new author. Like Hulking Out over a new author. And a really good new author at that. I read a lot of new books. Some are good. Some are great. Some are neither. But findng a new author with such great potential.....green with happiness.

Julia is the nice girl with the sad story. She has been in love for years. She hasn't done anything about it since he is not in love with her. So she has settled for being the best friend. Damn does she hate being the best friend. Julia has even tried to be something else. Something more. But he keeps her at a distance. Like half way around the world distance. That is a serious commitment to distance.

Jaxson is the bad boy in town. (Yeah, the best kind.) He has a bad reputation and an even worse family history. He knows that Julia has feelings for him, but he can't let anything happen. He knows she is better off without him. Just plain better than him.

I'm not better than you Jaxson, I'm better with you.

Jaxson knows he needs Julia, but he has been through so much that he feels tainted. He has seen some pretty horrid shit. His mother left him when he was young, so he feels that he doesn't know how to love. Doesn't know how to be in a real relationship.

Jaxson, love isn't always something you learn, it's something you feel.

There are some sexy Army buddies, a tortured young girl, scar covering tattoos, foul mouthed best friends, dirty talkin', wedding dress shopping, and long walks on the beach. Seriously. There are walks on the beach. Not kidding. This is a great first for the author and a great first in the series. I am marking my calendar for the second book. And green with anticipation.

WOW..first book, not even on Goodreads yet and I loved it! One of my favorite things about being on a reading and reviewing blog is being able to read first time authors. The excitement and nervousness that they feel in sharing their hard work, love and dedication is palpable. It is like baring your soul and standing just waiting for judgment. Even better when you read the book and get drawn in and feel the connection with the characters right from the beginning.

This story is a tale as old as time..the town bad boy, the town good girl and a friendship is found. One night a hero is made in being in the right place at the right time, and heading off what could have been the worst night of Julia’s life. Out of that night a life long love is forged. This was the last time Jaxson would be in the right place at the right time and because of this, years and heartache come between them.

Jaxson can’t get past the fact that he isn’t good enough, he wasn’t there in time, and he can’t allow his heart to be vulnerable. He thinks Julia is too good, and therefore never sees himself as worthy. To Julia, Jaxson is perfect, he is her best friend, protector and can make all okay with a simple kiss to the forehead.

Their story may fall along the lines of others, what it also has is mystery, friendships that stand the test of time and distance, bonds that can’t be broken or severed and heart. The supporting cast if you will, is funny, and makes you want to know more about all of them. I look forward to Sawyer and Grace’s story, because with them we get to hear more about everyone!

OMG! This.Book! Hoot!

Fighting Temptation is my first KC Lynn book, the one that made me obsessed over this author's writing, the book that had me rooting over soldiers, marred, scarred yet off the charts alpha, sexy and hot. This is the book that started my love and addiction over this author's knacks of emotional writing, sexy and hot and will definitely made you feel. Suffice to say, Fighting Temptation is the culprit of all my love KC LYNN!

Honestly, I have all the good things to say for this book. Julia and Jaxson's story is a perfectly imperfect journey I get to love the moment I started reading it. It wasn't all the best thing in the history of books but it was one of those books that really struck me straight in the heart the BESTEST. (It's not even a word, but Lordy, it's how I feel towards the book. It was more than the best). I was in love with the characters immediately. Sure, I was frustrated over Jaxson's hot and cold persona, but it was erased because my love for this man over powers it. His sweetness and caring nature made me a goner.That and the fact that he is an alpha like no other, scorching yet hilarious I cannot help myself not to fall for him. Julia on the other hand, is sassy and sweet. Together, they are just perfect for each other. Their relationship really is one I never thought I will love, but all throughout my journey with them, I fell ion love with all their flaws. It was the reason why I rooted for them until the end. My God, I can't even count the times I cried and laugh with this book, add another fact that this one got angst and drama I fell HARD even more.

Overall I highly recommend this book. It's a beautiful story overloaded with all the feels. You'll gonna get frustrated at times but sure enough you'll fall in love with them in the end. The curve balls thrown at them an the rough patches in their journey towards HEA will definitely test your patience, will even give you a maddening feeling but give them a chance, their road to utter bliss was not an easy feat. But Gahd! When they reconnect, it was the best feeling.

Jaxson and Julia have been best friends for almost two years now, when she came in town to live with her grandma after her mother passed away. In that time Julia fell in love with Jaxson, and when he decides to join the Navy, she admits to him that she loves him. He has feelings for her too, but he doesn't want admit that to himself. He thinks that she deserves someone better than him, less damaged. He is a towns bad boy, he has angry and control issues and that is the reason why he is joining the Navy.
On his graduation day Julia visits him and after a day spent with him and his friends they sleep together and decided that this wouldn't affect their friendship. But that wasn't easy.
After five years of just contact through phone calls and emails, Julia receives that Jaxson is hurt and is in hospital in Germany. She rushes to him, but he refuses to see her, because of a state in which he is. Heartbroken and angry she returns home and doesn't want have any contact with him. After a year of rehabilitation, he returns in town and wants to repair the damaged he has caused and do whatever he can to win Julia back.

Every other women was ruined for me the moment I laid eyes on you. You have always been mine Julia and you always will be. I love you! I swallow thickly while tears spring in my eyes, " I love you Jaxson, forever!

Very good read, I enjoyed it. Loved the characters, especially Gram.
The next book will be about Sawyer and Grace, looking forward to read their love story.

I am all about a sexy, growling, possessive, jealous, all mine and nobody else touches her, tattooed alpha male! I really loved this book and can not wait for more! Loved all the characters. I laughed so hard I had tears flowing at some of the shit in this book. The epilogue....my sister and I still look at each other and laugh about it till tears appear! I hope book two is just as good:) I'm waiting impatiently for it to come out!
