What's the meaning of life? How do we overcome anger and hate? How do we find meaning in the universe, conquer grief and be kind in the face of darkness? The Doctor, after hundreds of adventures through scores of years, has all the answers. And at last they're in the mood for sharing.
The Daily Doctor is a page-a-day guide to living your best Time Lord life. As days turn to weeks turn to months, stay serene with your daily dose of the inspirational plans, pronouncements and principles that bring order this crazy and chaotic universe.
From what it means to be human, when it's best to run and the best approach to filling your pockets, this book contains nothing less than the tao of Doctor Who - 365¼ hot tips on life and how to live it!
Just as The Doctor himself hurls around the universe in completely the one order, so does this philosophical guide in the space of a year, where each day has a moment of contemplation for you to ponder. It’s been compiled by a bunch of fanboys who are keen to get the very latest up-to-date musings and have put their favourite quotations and moments into this tome in no particular order. A Christmas episode is featured at Halloween, and other aspects of Halloween are covered elsewhere in the book. Each day contains an interaction from an episode together with its title so you can work out if you’ve seen it or not to recall the interaction, followed by a context of the quote and an explanation of how the quote can be used in perspective. Some offer simple guidelines while others make you ponder how you interact with your fellow man. Either way, get ready for a taste of nostalgia.
This book, which is full of quotes and Easter eggs from across the show's history, has clearly been put together with a lot of love and care.
I'd thoroughly recommended to any fan of the show! Not only does it cleverly weave together key moments in the show with the sort of advice a character like the Doctor would have built up from moments like these across their lives, it also serves as a fun way to experience moments from the show's past. For newer fans it serves as a way to introduce them to favourite stories that they haven't discovered yet.
Now, if you excuse me, I'm going to go and rewatch An Unearthly Child.
This is just a daily calendar-style mediation, using particular scenes and quotes from all 60 years of the series to date. There's nothing groundbreaking about this, but odds are your own personal favourite scene from a particular episode will be found within its pages...and perhaps one or two sweet moments that may have slipped your memory.
I loved reading this book over the last year, even though I didn't always read it on the correct days, I still enjoyed it very much. It helped me from time to time and I will occasionally read it again and again.
Cute daily readings with insightful messages. Plus lots of doctor who references. A page a day is a great way to let you Ponder over that days' thoughts.
