She’s one tough cop. And he’s got a license to thrill...

NYPD Detective of the Major Case Squad Sabrina Holt is tough as nails, smart as a whip, and beautiful to boot. She’s not looking for love. And she’s definitely not looking to babysit a spoiled, pretty-boy movie star.

Patrick Townsend is everything Sabrina despises. He’s wealthy, charming, and as far as she’s concerned, phony as a three-dollar-bill. But when her police commissioner uncle demands she takes Patrick on as a ride-along so he can prepare for a new role, she’s stuck with a bona fide Hollywood heartthrob in her passenger seat. And he’s hit with more sass than any one man can be asked to handle.

When her real partner gets roughed up by a suspect, Patrick steps in and gives the performance of a lifetime – a real-life one, saving Sabrina’s life in the process. Just as she begins to suspect there may be more to this handsome celebrity than meets the eye, they’re both dragged into web of mystery and lies.

As the danger grows, so does their attraction. But is desire blinding them to the truth? Can she really love a man whose life is so different from hers?

And more importantly, will they both live long enough to find out?

My friend and I received this book from a publishing company in exchange for an honest review. We were part of the process/launch team and helped in picking the cover etc and I am happy to say that the cover matches the spice in the book...the fact that Sabrina (the main character) is a bad ass cop and Patrick Townsend, pretty boy movie star who she loathes, have their world's collide during a ride-along from her commissioner, makes for an amazing storyline that kept me wanting more...I would recommend this book to anyone looking to add a little thrill to their romance shelf. As the danger grows while on duty, so does their attraction. Can she really love a man whose life is so different from hers? 🌶😉

Read this if…
🎬 You like a strong female MC
🎬 You love crime shows (but nothing too gory - think art theft)
🎬 You enjoy good banter between characters

MY SYNOPSIS: Sabrina is a super BA Detective with the Major Case Squad in New York City. (Don’t even try to say you didn’t say to yourself “and these are their stories” - I’m looking at you Law & Order.) When her uncle, the Police Commissioner, saddles her with a celebrity ride-along who’s observing for a new movie role, she’s more than a little livid. Determined not to fall for his charm or good looks, she embarks on a multi-month journey to solve a series of art thefts and leave her heart intact. But is that ever really possible? Twists and turns lie around every corner as you discover the true reasoning behind this celebrity’s ride-along.

MY THOUGHTS: Mostly romance with some detective work, I really enjoyed this book! It was a sweet story with a few spicy scenes to keep you going. Plus, I LOVED Sabrina! Her character was incredible - a total bada$$ 😍 The epilogue at the end was perfection and brought the whole story full circle. Though, I did feel like after a slow burn with the story that the end was a little rushed; overall, I enjoyed it!

I received this book from the publisher in return for an honest review.

Great storyline and good character arcs. Sabrina is a NY detective who doesn’t want to fall in love, but in like. Patrick is a movie star that she is stuck babysitting as a ride along on a case. Great action and plot line. Definitely a must read!

"I swear I'm going to make it my life's mission to be the man you desire above everything else, to make you happy, to like and respect you for the rest of our lives."

To start off, the story wasn't too bad. I did enjoy a little bit of banter. I did get a little off putting in places though. Sabrina wasn't really likeable for me. She was rude and abrupt - and it wasn't in a charming, play hard way. Patrick was very enjoyable to read. He was nothing like I expected from the blurb. I got a bit of a giggle here and there and sometimes couldn't decide if I was reading an episode of Lucifer or Brooklyn 99. It was a fast paced read and I found myself getting it finished in just a few hours.

You'll love this if you enjoy procedural cop dramas, enemies to lovers and a happily ever after. Spice was included, but it was tame. It was a nice addition but definitely not the stories only purpose. It would be great if you want to add a little action to your romance reads.
I am looking forward to reading more from the author.

*I’m part of the launch team for this book.*

I really enjoyed this detective romance - it gave me CSI feels with some really good banter and humorous moments. Personally, if the romance starts off as a slow burn, when that pivotal moment occurs I need it to be STEAMY and this fell a little short in that department but it was still a great read. The Female MC is such a badass character and she really sets the tone for the plot and how things progress which was great.

The story will have you smiling before the book ends. It has:
A sassy heroine
A celebrity hero in tune with his emotions
An investigation that could have gone bad.

I love the attention paid to the scenario of the book.
The banter between the characters is very funny. The interactions of the characters among themselves feel unscripted. I can still imagine the way a dialogue would have been spoken, as is written by Hilliard.

There are different meanings of Love for everyone. Looking for Like by Ravina Hilliard just gave the perfect words for my favourite one.

Sabrina is a detective who believes love is fleeting and is determined she has met her man when she falls in like with him. Could Patrick be that man? He’s a rich, famous movie star and riding along on her investigation. The sparks will fly between them but Patrick’s concealing his real reasons for tagging along on her job. When the truth comes to light, her trust in Patrick will be broken. They must find a way to overcome this blip in their relationship if they have any hope of owning up to the fact that not only are they in like with each other but also in love.
For the most part this was a good, intriguing story. There is quite a bit of banter between Sabrina and Patrick. However I felt the constant name-calling-references to films in this story became tiresome and slightly annoying after a while. Hence the 4 stars.

I’m a sucker for a romance story and this lived up to everything I hoped it would be!

The chemistry between the two main characters was so so good! There was the perfect mix of humour and spice between the characters! I also really liked the fact there there was also an element of mystery to the story as well!!

The only thing I didn’t like was at some points where the multiple characters are having a conversation it was hard to tell which characters was saying which line as it wasn’t always very obvious, but that only happened a few times.

I would still definitely recommend if you like a witty romance story that has spice, humour and a mysterious back story!

Rating: 6.5/10 (3stars)
Explicit Rating: 🔥🔥🔥/5

“Looking for Like” is a novel made for tv. With references to shows like “Castle, “Bones”, “Lucifer” & Law and Order,” it’s clear the author is a well educated crime junkie.

Sabrina is one of hell of a detective. She’s one of NYPD’s finest working for the Major Case Squad & all is right in her world, until she gets thrown a babysitting job. The “child” in question is none other than Patrick Townsend… the Pierce Brosnan of the acting sphere. The Bond actor has called in a favor to participate in a few ride alongs as a way to fully immerse himself in his next role. At least, that’s the excuse he gives. But as time passes, he seems to be contributing to the case an awful lot & even saves the detective’s life. While Sabrina fights her feelings for 007 she’s trying to crack the code on both the case & Patrick Townsend.

This premise is so fun & I believe that this book is meant for a very specific audience. Someone w/ knowledge of movie titles and puns & someone who enjoys celebrity tropes mixed w/danger.

Though the storyline progressed in a linear fashion I sometimes felt lost within the dialogue. I struggled at times to decipher who was speaking. Im not certain if this was a formatting issue or if it was word choice. Even though the author used great descriptive vocabulary that brought depth to the story, it also seemed displaced at times. There were a lot of trite expressions & phrases I had never heard before. The male lead is British & so this may have aided in the confusion. Aside from the muddled jargon, the book had great banter & the author clearly knew how to seamlessly add in hilarious quips.

The female lead’s “hot & cold” personality started off as somewhat endearing, but slowly it became a frustrating flaw. The lead really grapples w/the idea that someone could be in love w/ her & the back & forth may really bug you as the reader. Just know that this author does like to write in female leads who are “emotionally stunted” in some way, this is intentional, but it may not be your brand.

As someone who truly enjoys crime shows & understood all the references made to film in the novel, I found this book to be witty & clever. I loved the male lead & I liked that there was mystery without the novel ever feeling too serious. Because of the few issues I mentioned above, I didn’t rate this as high as I would have liked, but I do think there is a special niche of people that will adore this book.

Explicit Rating: I found the sex scenes in this book to be very interesting. They were descriptive but the phrases used felt a bit dated. It’s possible the author was trying to immerse you in the scene while being more tactful. They still were fairly explicit but not your usual language.

When Dawn Hill publications reached out to me to read and review the ARC of Looking for Like by Ravina Hilliard, I couldn’t help but say yes. I’ve been in a romance mood lately, and this seemed like the perfect oppurtunity to indulge.

I recieved an e-book in exchange for an honest review, and all opinions are my own. Thank you for the oppurtunity!

In Looking for Like by Raina Hilliard, an actor, Patrick Townsend, goes for ridealongs with a tough cop, Sabrina, on the premise that he wants to help his method acting career. He’s hiding something, though, and though Sabrina doesn’t know what it is, she’s not thrilled about this ‘babysittig’ sidejob. Arguably following the grumpy woman x sunshine man trope, things start to get heated between the two–and I’m not just talking about the dangerous criminal gunfire they encounter.

There were some really great parts about this book. I thought the plot was spectacular, and the author put some great twists in the trope with the secrets Patrick was hiding. I also always appreciate a grumpy x sunshine and enemies to lovers type trope. Plus, there was clearly a lot of research with police procdurals, showing not only a romance but a subplot with the makings of a crime novel, including some great action scenes. But speaking of the romance, I also thought there was a perfect amount of spice in this book. There were only a few spicy scenes, and they were satisfyingly steamy, but not in an overbearing or off-putting way! I’ve read too many stories that incorporate spice too much for my taste, sacrificing plot for smut, and this novel did not do that.

Unfortunately, there were a few things I wasn’t enthralled by in the story. I thought parts of the story developed too quickly, specifically the attraction between Patrick and Sabrina. Sometimes it felt like one sentence she was telling him she would never sleep with him, and the next his mouth was on hers. Plus, Sabrina changed her mind so much about him and their relationship that it gave me whiplash. I suppose, though, that leads to my main concern about the story: Sabrina, the main heroine, just wasn’t likable. She was smart and strong and witty, sure, but also mean and cold. Of course a heroine doesn’t need to be likable for a story to be enjoyed, but I personally prefer it! Maybe I would have liked it better to have read more from Patrick’s perspective, though I’m glad some of that was given as well.

I’m giving this book three stars, but I’m sure this would be an enjoyable quick read for those who love romances and police procedurals! It’s action-packed, sometimes steamy, and a fun fast read! And note: it’s free on kindle unlimited.

This book was so good, oh my gosh. This was the first book I need all the way through on my Kindle after I was gifted a copy of this book by the publishing company that came out with this release and god I devoured it so quickly.

The story was about a NYPD detective named Sabrina Holt who after a mistake on the job gets told by her boss that Patrick Townsend the big movie star is gonna shadow her for the time being as experience for his new movie.

At first Sabrina definitely wasn’t the biggest fan of Patrick at the beginning of the book, but that slowly changes throughout the story. This book is definitely the guy falls first but the girl falls harder, because Patrick has been interested in her from almost day 1, where Sabrina on the other hand needed a little time, because she was scared of getting hurt. But once she let her guards down for good, she fell hard and when I say hard I mean HARD. This is such a grumpy/sunshine story, where the Sabrina is the grump and Patrick is the sunshine and it works fantastic with how the story is built up.

Sabrina is a total girlboss and she doesn’t answer to any man, which is so refreshing. In my eyes she can do no wrong and she reminds me a lot my all time favorite girl Lana Myers and maybe I love her even more for that. And they both have black hair and literally eats men for a living just in their difference kind of way.

The relationship between Sabrina and Patrick was definitely the highlight of the story and I loved to follow the evolution they went through. Patrick brought a more fun and less serious side out of Sabrina and Sabrina helped Patrick realised what he wanted in life, which is to me pretty wonderful. I loved the whole thing Sabrina had about looking for like instead of love, because liking each other and having a friendship in a romantic relationship is just as important as the romantic aspect.

The epilogue of the book was so cute and I kinda wish it was longer. That’s also some of the reason why I gave the book 4 stars. I wish it was longer, especially at the end.

Thank you to Dawn Hill Publications for gifting me a copy of this great book!

*I was kindly offered a free e-book by Dawn Hill publications in exchange for an honest review-all thoughts are my own. Thank you for the opportunity!*

Looking for like was a quick, fast-paced, action-filled read with a steamy romance that follows an NYPD detective, Sabrina, and a movie star, Patrick, who end up working together on an art-theft investigation. This isn't quite enemies-to-lovers, but there is definitely a lot of tension and dislike between the two characters when they meet, as Sabrina doesn't like celebrities and, therefore, isn't the most thrilled about having Patrick as a ride-along on her case. However, over time, the two start to feel an attraction for each other, and the rest is history...with a plot twist and mystery/crime along the way.

Although I liked a few elements, overall, this book wasn't for me.

The story had a lot of potential; however, I found that I could not connect with the characters, especially Sabrina, and didn't become engaged with the storyline or plot. Initially, I didn't mind Sabrina and liked that she had a strong personality, but over time her character really annoyed me, and all the names that she called Patrick got extremely repetitive and tiring. I also got really frustrated with how she kept going back and forth between liking Patrick and hating him -I felt like I got whiplash. I also didn't like when she addressed suspects or when she would arrest someone as "thugs" or "brat" or "punk" as that is unprofessional and not acceptable behaviour or language.

I liked Patrick; he is sweet and funny, but he didn't stand out to me.

As for the romance, it happened really fast and went from them bickering with each in one scene to kissing in the next one. I also felt like they didn't have that much of a connection, and personally, I did not find their banter funny, although the pop-culture references were well-done, and I appreciated all the James Bond references.

"A lady is not determined by how she behaves rather by how she is treated."

Gulp! Swoon worthy is how this bit of wisdom effected me reading the hot police procedural romance Looking For Like by renowned steamy romance author Ravina Hilliard.

NYPD Detective Sabrina Holt is a tough hard core take no prisoners cop unless she herself apprehends and handcuffs them. So she is is in no mood to babysit the suavely debonair latest James Bond English actor, Patrick Townsend, "who had an elegant confidence in his stride. Like Denzel Washington." Patrick is going on some ride alongs for his latest movie.

Patrick slithers his way into Sabrina's good graces when he helps save her and her partner, who is shot, from an escalated police chase. All of this leads to them stumbling onto international art thieves and an intense investigation that Patrick becomes an integral part of despite Sabrina's protests.

Soon their time together is more than work related and Patrick is enamored with Sabrina and her Bond name calling of him like "ThunderBob" and "Golden Eye Candy." But Sabrina is not looking for love; she is looking for like. When you like someone you respect them, enjoy their company whereas you can love someone and not like them much (this idea is personally relevant during my kids' teen years-I loved them but some days didn't like them too much).

As Patrick tries to get Sabrina to like him their art heist investigation takes a twist that blew my mind and blows up their relationship.

So put your feet up, have a shaken not stirred martini, and close the door so you don't disturb anyone from laughing at the clever banter, gasping at the twists and maybe a bit of moaning during the very visually written love scenes.

I received a free copy of this book from the publishers for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

Okay so this story had a lot of potential. When I read the synopsis for this book I instantly thought of the television show, Castle. Sure enough it’s even mentioned in the very beginning of the book. Lucifer is also mentioned which I’ve seen as well.

Sabrina, the MC, and the detective in the story is not very likable. At all. I really really tried. She spends the first half of the book calling Patrick so many names for literally no reason. She is so prejudiced against him because he’s an actor and has money. As if those two things define his whole personality.

A woman MC doesn’t need to be a b*tch to earn respect or be considered strong. In fact it has the opposite effect in my opinion. She was just so biased for no legitimate reason. She even questioned herself and if she was being a b*tch?

My next issue was there was no depth to either Sabrina or Patrick. I felt nothing for these characters. The beginning was confusing on how Patrick ended up coming up with the idea for a ride along. Patrick was likable enough, though, I suppose. The author mentions the “despair” Patrick is feeling but I literally felt nothing nor could I actually tell he was down about anything.

Also, 28% in and both characters are already like “omg do I love him / her?” And at this point all Sabrina has done was call Patrick names and be rude to him, and not in a cute way. So I was like, wait what? That’s not very healthy.

I will say I enjoyed the ending! I also thought the author did a great job conducting research on police procedurals. The plot was well thought out and I didn’t see some of what happened coming! The spice was minimal. I’d give it like one pepper

Overall 3 stars. It’s a quick read and if you can get past Sabrina’s character the book is pretty good!

Thank you Dawn Hill Publications for the opportunity to read this book and provide an honest review!

The banter in this was a thing of beauty.

I picked this up because it was a no-nonsense female detective being forced to work with a billionaire Hollywood star. And on that front, it absolutely did not disappoint. I loved how the characters were portrayed, complete with witty banter, angst, and sudden unexpected attraction that slowly led to more.

I thought that the case they were working was something they could reasonably achieve, but it was difficult enough that it kept me guessing and drove the story forward. And I have to say, I did not see the twist coming at all, but it made everything fall into place so nicely.

All told, these two had the witty banter you want from a rivals to lovers style romance, all the chemistry and sizzle that has the windows steaming, and more than enough drama to go around. I loved how their relationship developed in a way that made sense for them, and I really loved how that element tied into the title of this novel.

I personally would have preferred jumping a little more into the story without the prologue, or else getting a little more of a hint in the prologue of what I was about to see regarding the twist. I also would have liked a little more of a distinct voice from Patrick, and felt that at times the story moved a little slower than I wanted.

I don’t think these things detract too much from the story, though, and would definitely recommend this book if you are into spicy scenes, female detectives, billionaire Hollywood actors, or enemies-to-lovers style banter.

3.5 / 5 Stars.

This one was such a fun ride.

Brief summary
Patrick is an actor who’s taking some time off from shotting his latest movie because he wants to work alongside the NYPD to learn how to be a detective so he can act the role better. Sabrina is a detective there and they are paired together. They fall in love.

I really loved how many scenes of them doing detective things there was in the book. They were just all so much fun to read about and I enjoyed them so much. I really enjoyed seeing so many parts of their job and what their every day life were like.

I really liked how they got together. They didn’t really want to like each other but they couldn’t help but enjoy each other’s company and I really enjoyed reading about that. I loved the easy way how they bounded over so many things and got comfortable with each other over their every interactions, that just really worked for me.

Sadly, I just didn’t really enjoy some of the language used in this book and Sabrina’s personality didn’t really work for me. I thought that she was a super strong and fun character in some scenes but sometimes she was just a little too judgemental and not nice enough for me.

Regardless of that, I really enjoyed this book and I had such a great time reading this one.

I received an arc of this book and this is my honest opinion

I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

About the book:
This story follows Detective Sabrina Holt , of the Major Case Squad. She worked her way up in her field and is really good at her job.

Patrik is a well known movie star who usually prepares for a character by method acting. He joins Holt and her team on a case to understand their workings and prepare for his upcoming role.

She has a prejudice against rich people and gives him a tough time initially.(But most of it was uncalled for). But her attitude doesn't effect him one bit. He has a charming personality who everyone adores except her.

They work together to uncover the person behind an art theft where Patrik proves himself useful time and time again.

Was she wrong about him? Will she be immune to his charm? Will she be able to trust him?
Read the book to find out.

My thoughts:
At first when I read the plot line,I thought it would be on the lines of Lucifer and Chloe Decker. But when People kept calling her captain Holt,I couldn't help but go back to captain Holt from the show Brooklyn99.

The story had good potential but it wasn't done well. The romance could have been better too.
It didn't have any build up. (Sabrina was too bad to him in the beginning and suddenly decides she likes him). The story picked up pace towards the end.

"A lady is not determined by how she behaves, rather by how she is treated."

Sabrina is a NYPD detective of the Major Case Squad. Patrick Townsend is a movie star, and is everything Sabrina despises. When her police commissioner uncle demands she take Patrick on as a ride-along so he can prepare for a new role, she's stuck with a Hollywood heartthrob in her passenger seat. As they're dragged into a mystery and the danger grows, so does their attraction.

This book was a fun, and fast-paced romcom. I enjoyed the banter between Sabrina and Patrick. Sabrina is sassy and came up with the most creative nicknames for Patrick. Patrick is a very laid-back and charming guy. He accepted everything with a smile. He always respected Sabrina and her boundaries, and never broke his promise to obey them. However, I did feel that Sabrina did run a bit hot and cold with Patrick and often came off a bit rude. The epilogue at the end was great and really wrapped the story up nicely. Overall, I enjoyed this book.

If you like cop shows, enemies-to-lovers and want a romance with a bit of thrill, then I think you'll like Looking For Like by Ravina Hilliard.

I was sent this in return for an honest review.

First off I need to give praise where it is needed. I LOVED that the female lead was the grumpy character and the male lead was the sunshine. This is my first read like this and loved it. I give this book 3.5 stars.

Sabrina is a badass cop in the Major Detective Squad with her partner O’Connor investigating a crime. In comes Patrick a major movie star needing a ride along to help with an upcoming movie role… or is he?

I loved the aspect of the criminal case, the additional side characters and the story overall. This book kept me guessing every step of the way and had no idea what would happen next. This was why I enjoyed this read.

In saying that I had a few minor things that knocked it from a 4 star to a 3.5. Sabrina the female lead was always grumpy only ever had two seconds of being happy then next minute would bite someone’s head off. Second the proposal seemed rushed and very quick and I didn’t think it was. Just felt like it was being pushed in the book just because.

Overall this book was enjoyable and I really loved the storyline

I received this book from the publisher in an exchange for an honest review.

First of all, thank you to the publisher for this opportunity! There were definitely things I liked about this book including the police drama + art theft mystery! I think it makes a book much more enjoyable when you add an interesting sub-plot like this!

Unfortunately there were other aspects of the book that just weren’t for me - but others might find these to be right up their alley! Personally, pop culture references in books are a pet peeve as they can make the book feel dated after a short amount of time, or readers can end up feeling like they’re missing out if they aren’t familiar with the reference. The sex scenes throughout the book also felt quite dated in terms of the language used. For me, this made the scenes a bit awkward, but for others this may make spicy scenes feel less explicit! I also found Sabrina, the female lead, to be far too unlikable for me to enjoy the book as much as I wanted to.

Overall this was a quick read with an interesting sub-plot. I would recommend giving it a try if you don’t mind the notes listed above!

Looking for Love by Ravina Hilliard explores the concept of looking for that person you “like '' rather than “love” which sometimes can be often confused as lust.

In this romantic crime book, the banter between the two characters Detective Sabrina Holt and billionaire actor Patrick Townsend is freaking hilarious 😆 and downright hot 🔥

But when looking for that person, sometimes things can get in the way like work commits, trust issues, and just taking a leap of faith. Can this duo find a way to commit to each other or does their love affair just fizzle out?

I highly recommend it especially if you love couples in shows like Castle, Lucifer and The Mentalist which of course these shows get mentioned quite frequently and so does Bond or should I say Bond. James Bond. 😉

I love the style of writing and I enjoyed the pacing of the book. I will definitely be reading more Ravina Hilliard books in the future.

Thank you for dhpublishig for providing a digital copy of Looking for Like in exchange for a review.

It has:
Enemies to lovers
Grumpy (FMC) x Sunshine (MMC)
Set in NYC
Police detective + celebrity bachelor

Patrick Townsend is a celebrity bachelor who rides along with detective Sabrina Holt to research for a role. She has preconceived notions about celebrities and dislikes him before they even meet but he ends up proving as a valuable asset to Sabrina’s latest case.

Sabrina and Patrick had great banter, the “I hate you and you need to know it” kind. 😂 The transition to lovers was gradual, with some back and forth. I enjoyed the l snarkiness between the MCs. I also liked the police action scenes - it made me think of the TV show, Chicago PD.

Sabrina is touted as a bad ass detective but some there were displays of internalized misogyny I felt didn’t add to the story. Another thing that bothered me was the FMC’s “tough girl act” whenever Patrick was around. I suppose it was a part of her tough character persona but it got tiresome after a while.

thank you for the arc and the possibility to read this book before pub date. here’s my short review:

however it a a quick romance read it took me long to read it. i needed time to get into it, and i was satisfied with the writing style.

i think the love between the main characters was quick. i started reading it and i found myself in the middle of the kissing scene. i mean there is no problem with that but i’m kind of a slow burn fan.

sabrina was way too impulsive and i didn’t fell in love with her character, i’m not sure that i even like her. i couldn’t keep up with her moods whether she liked patrick or not.
but patrick. he’s a sweetheart. i loved reading about a hollywood actor who’s not all around the girls and hookups.

the premise is promising, i don’t mind when a romance book has a ton of actions next to the flirting moments. it’s just keep me entertained.
read it if you’re looking for a quick romance read.

My rating - 3.8/5🌠

Sabrina - A NYPD detective and one of the finest among all. She is kinda badass. If you have watched Brooklyn 99 she would be Roza Diaz.

Patrick - Oh gosh. A famous actor who is tall, sweet, handsome and head over hills for Sabrina.

Sabrina & Patrick - Sabrina was looking for like not love.. For her love is temporary but like is for trust, respect and such a friendly bond that she can continue in life. She was so damn afraid to fall in love with Patrick but who can stop feelings. She falls so fast and hard for him.. Patrick is like found his soulmate in her. If you wanna know how give it a go.

This book is full of action, feelings, drama and spicy.. I loved this book.

I received this from the publisher to read and review!

It was a really quick and easy read which is nice (just shy of 250 pages). I liked the mix of action/romance, and I'm always a sucker for crime mysteries! The banter was fun and I'm all here for badass female MC:s. Sabrina reminds me of Rosa from Brooklyn 99 😂

The writing was good too, it's evident the author has done a lot of research on police protocols and lingo which felt fitting.

I'd say it's a great book for getting out of a reading slump, seeing as it's fast paced and easy prose. You get thrown right into the story without the unnecessary fluff!

I was approached by the publishing company with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I loved the idea of the story and some parts were enjoyable but it honestly wasn’t for me.
Some of the language used threw me off and it took me ages to get through. I don’t like to DNF any books I read, but this one came incredibly close to being put aside for good.

I also didn’t enjoy it being in third person. I can usually find myself relating to the characters when I read but not in this one. I felt very disconnected.

It did give off crime procedural drama vibes so if you enjoy watching those (think Castle, Bones, Lucifer), then this one might be a winner for you.

I received this ebook from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Although it was a slow burner, I really enjoyed the plot. NYPD detective Sabrina Holt works with a wealthy and hot actor Patrick Townshend on a case to help him for a new film.

There are a few spicy scenes and the character development was great. I loved how badass and sassy Sabrina was! I didn't really like Patrick and found him quite arrogant and full of himself but I loved his and Sabrinas love-hate relationship.

I liked the epilogue and found it well put together. Overall, a fun and enjoyable read.

what a crazy ride this was! Sabrina Holt is a detective and Patrick Townsend is famous actor who find themselves together when Holt is assigned to let Patrick shadow her in her work for his new role. Sabrina is witty and strong willed, she's a bad ass cop and of course butts heads with the charming Patrick. Being joined at the hip starts to change her perspective on him, especially after he saves her life and her partners life. Sparks flew with their banter and polar opposite personalities. It definitely gave me grumpy sunshine vibes where she's the grump and he's the sunshine as well as a bit of forbidden romance. Secrets get unravelled and with each page you're having to piece together their love and crime they're investigating together, it was such a great read!

Who needs love when you’re a badass detective who can stand up for herself and don’t need help.

Detective Sabrina Holt is a badass detective. But when her uncle (the police commissioner) forces her to bring the celebrity star Patrick Townsend as a ride-long to get into character for a movie, things get complicated. Sabrina is a character that has that ‘I don’t need a man’ vibe, but Patrick gets under her skin and soon they can’t keep their hands to themselves.

This was a sweet love story and I enjoyed it.
