The path from ashes to Alleluia is one that we walk together, in community. Join faith leaders from Washington National Cathedral with daily scripture, meditations, and prayers as we make our way from the solemnity of Lent to the drama of Holy Week to the glory of Easter Day.
The Pilgrim Way of Lent is a collaboration between Forward Movement and Washington National Cathedral. Forward Movement is a ministry of the Episcopal Church committed to inspiring disciples and empowering evangelists, particularly through formation resources such as books, curricula, and daily devotions. Washington National Cathedral holds a unique place at the intersection of sacred and civic life. As the cathedral of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, they strive to serve God and our neighbors as agents of reconciliation, a trusted voice of moral leadership, and a sacred space where the country gathers during moments of national significance
With readings for each day of Lent—from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday—this is an ideal way to take a few minutes for contemplation and prayer during this most holy liturgical season. The book is timeless in that it can be read any year, as it's organized by the day of the week and not the date on the calendar.
Each daily entry begins with short scripture followed by a reflection written by one of the clergy on the staff of the Washington National Cathedral. It then concludes with a prayer, typically from the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer, but sometimes with the words of a beloved hymn.
I have found the very well-written and spiritual meditations to be inspiring, as well as thought provoking. This is an ideal resource for those who want to spend a bit more time in prayer and Bible reading during Lent.
Goodreads only lists the Kindle version because that is the only one available on Amazon. The paperback is available from Forward Movement. I read the paperback. This is a great book with meditations for every day of Lent. The meditations are short and accessible. I recommend this as a Lenten study. I read it with a group and everyone liked it.
