After reading the blurb, I thought this would have been a home run for me. Saucy books about relationships in trouble? One of my favorite tropes. But this just didn't quite do it for me for some reason. I will try this author again though.
This is a testament to how men can't handle the pain that they routinely dish out. Ethan was scorned by his ex wife and when he met Skye, his true love, he wouldn't recognize her because of that hurt. Skye is better than me, she gave him 7 years without a true commitment until she finally said she couldn't do it anymore. Ladies, know your worth and add tax, ok!! My momma taught me to give a man 5 years and if he doesn't commit after that, he never will. I've walked away and they never came back. One did, and he was the real one!! Take your power back ladies!! Great read!!
Both Skye and Connor were interesting characters. The story was completely believable as a lot of people fall into a relationship, never have the hard conversations, make concessions until one day they wake up and realize that they are not happy. I understand Connor’s reluctance, however he was frustrating with his business attitude to a personal relationship, convinced that money was enough. Skye was the one in the wrong though as she was not intentional from the beginning. Thank god for Ant Florence.
Bilemedim..
Miss. Diamond is one of my favorite authors but I didn't like this book, I love the storyline but I felt this was the typical story boy meets girl, there is a misunderstanding girl leaves (in this case Skye had a good reason but she was weak and Ethan knew it) boy wants her back ..he gets her back (but she didn't make him work for it) ..happy ending, the end. Now granted I always love the endings but I would love to read a story were I can't tell what's gonna happen.
This is my first read of this author. She did not dissappoint. Love how she wrote such a mature lovestory. Nowadays, its so hard to find books that suites my taste, and this book just did it for me.
I do wish that the book were longer so that readers can see more groveling (on Ethan's side).
Although Ethan loved Skye, he still held on to the old hurt feelings from his first marriage. And as a result, he was not willing to try marriage again. For Skye, that would be the impasse for their relationship. Women in general will be able to see her point of view clearly. Ethan's standards about marriage nearly caused him to miss the chance for his real happily ever after with Skye. An excellent read.
I was initially on the fence about whether I was reeeeally into this story or not, but eventually it sucked me in. Ethan was a classic alpha male and Skye was in a position a lot of women would consider enviable, but she needed more. And yes, she had her weak moments (I didn't love that part). She KINDA stuck to her guns. But it's not always cut-and-dry when it comes to someone you're in love with, and this showed the layers that comes with that. So that was cool.
It was just okay to me. I'm more into your books that had the erotica in it. This book was just like everyone else's book. Reserved. I understand that some liked the least graphic novel, And pulling back a little was a good business move, but this book - its not you. You gave us the real. All the emotions, feelings. I guess I'm just one that enjoyed the realness of your work.
Although I enjoyed the push and pull between Skye and Ethan, it shouldn't have taken 7 years for a fed-up Skye to walk away from his stubborn a$$! First Ethan made Skye pay for the sins of his evil ex-wife. Next, Ethan never told Skye EXACTLY what his ex-wife actually did. As a result, he never loved or respected Skye as an equal, the way she needed him to. Still a good story but the sex scenes soon spiraled into down, dirty and raw.
Ethan is book one is Ms. Diamond’s new series, Family Ties. Ethan Connor has a multi-billion dollar real estate enterprise. Fans of Ms. Diamond’s work will remember Ethan as Layla Fleming’s boss in the Quicksand Series book, What She Deserves. His love for his long-time partner, Skye Thorpe, is evident in the way he reacts to her when she is in his presence. He adores her and she is a calming force in his life. Skye experienced an unimaginable loss as a teenager. When she met Ethan seven years ago. She thought he was tall, dark and handsome, however a relationship was the last thing on her mind. Now, she loves Ethan and longs to marry him and have a family of her own. However, Ethan went through a bitter divorce years ago and has no intent to remarry. During a family event, Skye realizes that marriage may not be in her future with Ethan. Some of his relatives already think the pair are married because she is a treasured member of the family. Ethan and Skye realize they are not on the same page and I was surprised by this lack of communication. Their physical chemistry has been off the charts since day one and they have shared many intimate moments over the years. Skye starts feeling like the grass may be greener on the other side and Ethan doesn’t get why his commitment isn’t enough. As the story plays out, Ms. Diamond includes a memorable scene when Ethan basically shows Skye what she is missing. No matter what Skye thinks, he is not letting her go. There is an interesting side story with Ethan’s Mom and Stepfather, who has been a positive influence in his life and put him on the trajectory to be successful. Ethan, is a great start to this new series. See complete review at romanceincolor.com
If I've said it once, I've said it one thousand times—a woman has to tell a man what she wants—men aren't mindreaders. Communication is key to ALL relationships!
So, in their seven years together apparently Skye and Ethan never had one conversation about marriage and children? Really? I blame Skye, she was happy with the status quo until one of his family members thought they were already married. When she finally got up the courage to discuss marriage with him, it was a hard no. When she moved out of his home, I thought she'd grown a backbone. Ethan was seriously a caveman, demanding that she return and when she continued to say no, he decides he's giving her 30 days. ROTFLMAO!
At a party they attended separately, she (brought a date) needs a moment, he follows but apparently her lady bits had a mind of it's own. She lost all credibility when she became mezmerized by his touch while her date mingled in the other room. Major gloat moment for Ethan. When Ethan has a crisis, she comes a running and never leaves and Ethan doesn't suffer nearly long enough for his bad behavior.
As always, your opinion may differ. Recommended: Read It!
Ethan, written by Delaney Diamond, is the first book in the Family Ties series. This book is an interconnected standalone title. I found this book and author through the Summer Romance Reading Challenge.
After seven years of living together Skye is ready to confront Ethan about marriage and kids. Ethan is still very bitter after his first marriage ended in ruins and has no plans to ever marry again.
Skye decides it’s time to leave and find someone who wants the same things as she does in a relationship. Ethan tells her that she has thirty days and then he coming to get her back.
Ethan and Skye were a cute couple, he drove me crazy a few times with his aloha dominance, but overall I was happy to see them work out their differences and get their HFN.
This sounds like a true story! It happens and it is usually the man who holds out! Why buy the milk when you have the cow, for free! Sounds harsh but the truth! Ethan had such negative feelings because of his past marriage so what do you do, make it hard and insecure with the next relationship! Truth be told men are more emotional than women, trust is hard for them, once they find love she belongs to him, good and bad! I am glad the story ended the way it did, but I believe Layla had something to do with the health issue because she could not have him so the threat! My idea of book two! (Smile) great read! True story!
I said it before and I will say it again. Big fan of second chances, especially dealing with love, miscommunication and matters of the heart, whatever the situation could be. When two people are in love and they can't see their way clear or can not compromise and separate. I love how good fortune sneaks in and play its role of many good things in place, bringing the union back together again. The best part for me is the bathroom scene where you can't fight the true attraction that draws you back to each other. You just can't when that person is your forever companion. This was a great read for me. ReneeG
The author continues to entertain and engage me with her writing. "Skye & Ethan's" love draws me into the scenes as with other books. This author gives atypical scenarios of romance fiction to relate stories that are close to reality. This compelling story featured the woman leaving for her principles.
The author's series from ,"Unexpected Love", to "Quicksand" keeps me fascinated and delighted. My mind's eye is given a colorful and memorable movie that I do not have to leave my reading room. She writes ✍ in vivid color!
I'm not sure how I feel about this book. I felt like the premise was good but I can't say that I was in love with the execution. I just didn't understand how they got as far as they did in their relationship at their age and didn't hash this out. And that just made the heroine look incredibly stupid. Not to mention the fact that the hero just looked like an unfeeling a-hole. So, I don't think I could fully invested in the story. I've read books by this author that I was really drawn to but this one just wasn't it.
3.5 rounded to 4. She wants marriage; he won’t ever marry again after a disastrous marriage in his 20s. Because all women are the same, right? 🙄 She sticks to her guns and leaves him. Then tells him to kiss her ass after he says she has 30 days away from him for a “break.” She comes back after he has a medical emergency and just moves back in without a ring or a promise of one. She was good until the end. Then she gives in too easily without making him work for it. She gets the ring in the end but it seems halfhearted and disingenuous. Like acing a test you cheated on.
It kept my interest and was short enough to read in one sitting.

There is a thin line between world building & word vomit. This has the makings of the latter. I only got the sample and skipped so much of that because I simply do not care. I do not care that one of the developments he is working on has two gardens and one supplies that restaurant. I don’t care about what the cooks are doing in the kitchen. There is so much unnecessary information in just the sample and next to no dialogue. There is more on the page about everything else than the actual book characters, no way I’m paying for the full book. A shame since the blurb sounded interesting.
Skye has nearly everything she could ever want. However she wants something and someone more. Ethan is determined to be successful. He believes Skye is his and a piece of paper will not change anything, so what if he had said repeatedly that he would never marry again. Skye decides she can no longer give all of herself in a relationship of seven years that was one-sided. She left Ethan. Ethan soon realized he may have made a mistake. Great read that touched a place in my heart.
The road to a successful relationship means being open and honest to your partner. Respecting them enough to express your wants and desires. Is one's best good enough? That is the question for Ethan and Skype. The crossroad of acceptance and truly providing the intangible. What is meant to be will be, it is found when Ethan recognizes what truly would be lost if he didn't open his heart to healing and forgiveness.
This was a great read. Ethan took Skye for granted. He loved her and thought that she would continue to be satisfied as his live in girlfriend with the bonus of expensive gifts instead of becoming his wife. He was so caught up with past experiences that he was not willing to change his mind. He was faced with that old cliché why pay when you can have the milk for free…. Highly recommend….
I liked everything about this story loved the characters and storyline. I would like to know if Ben and Rose will get back together? I would have liked to see a wedding between Ethan and Skye with that said this was a very enjoyable read I would absolutely recommend this book to everyone who enjoys reading a good romance story. Great story Ms. Diamond please keep the stories coming. Thank you. 🙏👍❤
I loved the heat, the intended Love that Ethan and Skye had for each other! I loved the fact that the leading lady Skye was a woman of size and that Ethan was captivated with her size as well as her beauty! I have read this story three times and I Love it! Praying there will be a follow up! I would definitely recommend this book!!! Definitely worth reading and the five stars rating
I really enjoyed this book. It was well written and both characters were well developed. Ethan was stubborn in his ways but he got it together in the end. Skye showed that women don’t have to accept less than what they want or deserve from a relationship and to make what they want known and not settle no matter how painful it is. Ethan learned that you can’t carry previous baggage into the future.
I enjoyed Ethan and Skyes relationship. Ethan was jaded because of a previous marriage. Skye was patient and was waiting for him to reward her potential. I was happy to see Skye put Ethan on ice and make her needs known. I loved how they worked through the separation, him fake giving her space. I loved how he was always there and how he was a little possessive. I loved the writing and the pace of the story.
