HUMAN PHYSIOLOGY, 7th edition focuses on the mechanisms of body function from cells to systems and is organized around the central theme of homeostasis--how the body meets changing demands while maintaining the internal constancy necessary for all cells and organs to function. As an author, Lauralee Sherwood is known for the most up-to-date and accurate coverage as well as strong pedagogy making the text the most effective learning tool. Plus, the program offers a complete complement of media tools for learning and teaching. Additionally, this new edition has an entirely revised art program offering realistic and three-dimensional art as well as new flow diagrams. The new art program helps students visualize difficult concepts and processes for better understanding and mastery of concepts.
Possibly the most important book I've ever read from start to finish. I wish there were a zillion hours in the day so I could immerse myself in the complexity of life. I'm already losing most of the knowledge I've gained. At least there's a physiological explanation for my limitations. Blame the brain. Shoulda put the guitar down and gone to med school.
This is easily one of the best science text books I've ever used. The author and editors have done a fantastic job of making complex topics in human physiology both readable and understandable. I especially appreciate the author's judicious use of analogies and metaphors to explain molecular processes. The study guide in the back of the textbook and the illustrations throughout each chapter are especially helpful for learning. My only complaint would be that answers to the end-of-chapter essay questions are not available for free online, and neither are any other study tools. This is unusual for science textbooks these days, which usually make at least some study and review tools available for free online.
this books goes from giving an introduction to physiology and homeostasis and explaining cell physiology to hormones and neurons to muscles and cardiac to other systems (each in a separate chapter). so it basically goes gradually up to teach you physiology in a non-confusing way. Very easy in teaching the basics of physiology. good pictures illustrations. what I mostly liked about this book is the study cards at the back .. they're general, give the basics and most important points of each chapter that they could be a great help in the future !
It covers physiology in breadth and explains in depth, yet in simple language. I fell in love with Sherwood when I was looking for the mechanism of impulse transduction in nervous system, I was awed that Sherwood explained it by answering straight to my problems! A great book for learning physiology.
I had to read this book for my physiology class, and I have to say it's the best text book I've ever had to read. The material was very well written, easy to understand and week organized. It's the ONLY textbook I've ever kept. I'm even considering buying the needy edition just to have a nice copy.
This book is great for anyone wanting to learn physiology. This book covers everything from basic anatomy to detailing physiology. I enjoyed reading this book and I know it helped me start a foundation of human physiology for my future nursing career.
I learn about the amazing mystery behind human body from sherwood, and i love it so much, it has been my fav book since first year in medicine. This book successfully makes the complicated system understandable with simple words and colorful illustrations. thanks sherwood!
Great book, however, as incredibly detailed as it is, it's not as detailed as my teacher would have liked. She continuously added terms and more in depth tidbits not contained in this book!
Just finished this class!!! This book was my textbook and honestly had so many helpful diagrams and questions. I read this from start to finish during the class and it's the only reason I got an A. thank you for saving my gpa pookie!
This book is super easy to learn physiology on human being. You don't have to read every chapter to learn a system. I have read the 8th edition. Supercool!!
