The D.I. Daniel Ward crime thrillers are a gripping, character-driven series perfect for fans of LJ Ross, Rachel McLean, and Elly Griffiths. Essential reading for anyone wondering what dark secrets hide amongst Yorkshire's picturesque rolling moors...
A thriller that leads us a merry dance through unconnected paths on till the point of it all is made and then the answer stare you in the face but that doesn’t distract from the plot or the enjoyment just makes you wonder what took you so long to see it! A slightly less intense story this time letting us see some of Daniels inner torment and insecurity making him a stronger character to follow and a reprieve from the pace of the last books in the series , a great read
I enjoy the story line of these books (who wouldn’t enjoy books with Olly in)? My issue is with some of the random vocabulary which pops up fairly regularly and gives one the impression that Meg has a thesaurus on hand as she writes. There are about 5 random words seldom in daily use that seem to have been seized on and repeated throughout the first four books. Having said that, I shall be reading book 5!
Thank you Meg Jolly for the advance copy in exchange for a honest review. After spending months on burglary following a disciplinary Ward is called back to the murder squad following a suspicious death. It is soon discovered the victim was poisoned. Then more bodies are discovered and they are looking for a poisoning serial killer. Another great DI Daniel Ward thriller set in beautiful scenery.
Loving this series. Likeable characters. Pacy, with good twists. Needs more proof reading though. Lee, instead of Lea, betted, instead of bet, cut off the step - instead of stem.
Loved it and could not put it down, another great instalment in DI Wards work. Highly recommend. Living local also makes it more believable as I know the area a win win.
I enjoyed the book, but I was so far ahead of DI Ward, I knew the answer before I reached the halfway stage! I wish he'd solve the Varga issue, it's driving me nuts!
Love Meg's books, great characters and storylines a particularly challenging case for the team and I they are faced with suspicious deaths by poisoning.
Another enjoyable book, this time an investigation into a suspicious death, which turns into DI Daniel Ward and DS Nowak investigating a serial killer. Although the big threat of Varga is still a big worry for Daniel. Ward seems to becoming out of himself more in this book. I have loved all of the books in this series but this is my favourite Always enjoy the descriptive of the characters and where the story is situated. Another book once you start you just want to carry on reading till the end. This is my honest unbiased review of a arc book I was pleased to receive from the author.
The Justice We Serve by Meg Jolly is book 4 in the DI Daniel Ward series. Ward is called on to investigate a suspicious violent death. He and DS Nowak are still trying to make sense of it when another death follows. However, developments in an earlier case pull at Ward and claim his attention. I like the camaraderie between Ward and Nowak, but I also liked that DC Patterson has grown a bit in confidence and maturity and plays a bigger part. Really enjoyed this.
