Eager rookie cop Rue is desperate to prove herself and someday become an FBI detective. So when a series of crimes in her city eerily reflect similar attacks from 25 years ago, she secretly takes on the investigation herself.
But what Rue doesn’t know is that she’s getting into dangerous waters – and as she works to uncover conspiracies, she also unpacks some family trauma that changes everything she thought she knew.
The writing is simple and direct, and felt a bit like a screenplay to me with sharp dialogue and quick bursts of action.
You know more than Rue as a reader, and you’ll be uneasily waiting for her to stumble into the truth of her birth while also hoping she stays smart amidst a potentially corrupt force.

I received the following ARC from Maurice Draine and it's called Honor Thy Mother.
The book starts with a horrific sexual assault that took place in 1993. We then jump 25 years into the future where we follow Rue, an officer of the police, who is drawn into a new sexual assault case. She disobeys orders to steer clear from the investigation because she is not a detective. However, she has an internal drive she can't explain that she needs to continue with her own investigation. That is the start of a rollercoaster in which she finds out more than she bargained for.
His style of writing is fast paced and easy to read through. It is a disturbing subject but the author is capable of delivering it well and he is able to convey the horrible suffering of young women with his writing.

I highly enjoyed this book! Readers seeking a suspenseful, thrilling crime mystery with a strong female character should place Honor Thy Mother at the top of their TBR. This book is very fast paced! I was entertained the entire time and couldn't wait to get to the bottom of the mystery.
The story follows Rue, a rookie cop, who is strong, ambitious, determined, loyal, intelligent (and so much more). She finds herself tangled in a case investigating a serial rapist. This current case may have dark links to her past.
This book took me on quite the emotional journey. I felt so strongly for this character and everything she went through to investigate and solve this case.
I absolutely recommend this book! This was 5 starts for me. What a great read.

Rue's life is about to take a dramatic turn, can you imagine stumbling across a cold case and it changes your life forever.
Rue is a police officer just trying to do her Job until she stumbles apon a cold case that will rock her world, will she be able to solve the case noone in 25 years has been able to, will she close the file and leave it to the lost like it has been for all of these years?
Can she face the reality of finding out the truth, a terrible crime was committed and it seems never spoken of again.
I found this read to be a thriller, I like a book that keeps my mind engaged and keeps me guessing throughout.
Did you guys the ending correctly?

Maurice Draine wrote this dark suspense novel. I started reading this book and became so engrossed in it that I lost count of time and finished it in one sitting. This book is filled with suspense and unexpected twists. It is nicely written and instantly captures the reader's attention. I'd want to thank the author for creating such an incredible and original narrative. I have already recommended this amazing book to my friends and family, and I would recommend it to you all as well because it is absolutely amazing and engaging.

Family Secret, Bitter Truth and No one to Blame
Firstly. Thrillers are my jam. I love a hot headed, willing to do anything for the truth and that is exactly what you get. Rue is relentless and she should be, she wants the truth. Everything she thought she protected and she trusted gone. Now shes connected and there is hell to pay. Man this kept me intrigued that I sped through it, needing to know the truth! Not tomorrow, not a week away. NOW. Corruption at the finest and we all know there are corrupted cops.

Now this is a gripping storyline from the first page.
Rue is such a brave and determined person to keep investigating a case and pieced it all together. It had me guessing who it was throughout with a few different guessing on different people..
I enjoyed this writers style, with the main characters inner thoughts, which was similar to my own.
If you enjoy a gripping crime thriller, that you piece together like a puzzle then you must definitely have to read this book!

Dark suspense
A genre that I hardly read. But this book definitely changed my perception. It was well-formed, well written, and was highly grasping. I could not put the book down until reading the entire book. It was full of drama and suspense and I recommend it to everyone. Do invest your time into this book and you won't regret it!

Rue Patton is a cop that dreams of being an FBI agent, but now she is a patrol cop. But when she comes across an old cold case file, things change for her. Could this really be what she thinks it is? What does this cold case have to do with what is happening now? A very intense story from start to finish. Looking forward for the next installment. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
