Milo Rathkey is spending a quiet January in his Duluth mansion, Lakesong—too quiet. Then Charlie Dawson is murdered while riding an exercise bike. The police want to know who rigged the bike to electrocute Charlie. Milo wonders why Charlie died on a Tuesday.
First let me state I love Milo and most of the other characters, however, I liked the previous books better (I've read them several times). Too much of Agnes and Sutherland, not enough Milo. Not crazy about Agnes, maybe her new role will grow on me in future books. Will Sutherland find out about her secret? Milo's cases in this book were not as interesting as in the past. Great improvement on errors! I will always buy a Milo Rathkey mystery.
Snap, Zap, Murder: A Milo Rathkey Mystery by D.B. Elrogg is an entertaining mystery that combines clever investigation, unexpected twists, and a distinctive protagonist into a story filled with intrigue, suspense, and sharp observations.
One of the book’s greatest strengths is its unusual opening mystery. The idea of a seemingly ordinary exercise routine becoming the scene of a carefully planned murder immediately creates curiosity and draws readers into the investigation.
Milo Rathkey brings a unique presence to the story. His attention to unusual details, analytical approach, and willingness to question what others overlook make him an engaging character to follow as the mystery unfolds.
The Duluth setting and the atmosphere surrounding Lakesong provide a memorable backdrop for the investigation. The contrast between a quiet winter environment and a carefully executed crime creates an effective sense of tension throughout the story.
The mystery develops through thoughtful clues and unexpected connections, encouraging readers to examine the details alongside Milo. The question of why Charlie’s death occurred on a specific day adds another layer of curiosity that keeps the investigation moving.
D.B. Elrogg successfully balances suspense with character focused storytelling, creating a mystery that is both engaging and accessible while maintaining the clever elements that fans of the genre appreciate.
For readers who enjoy intelligent mysteries, distinctive detectives, carefully constructed puzzles, and character driven investigations, Snap, Zap, Murder offers a satisfying and intriguing mystery experience.
I can't get enough of this series, I want more, a lot more!!!! Milo Rathkey is great, I love his humor and everyone else is great. The banter all the characters in this book is excellent. Milo reminds me of a laid back Nero Wolf without Reggie Goodwin. His mind lint is something else. Sutherland and Agnes are so cute together. When Sutherland's bike club is testing out new promo stationary bikes, who thought it could be deadly. There turned out to be breaking and entering, espionage, deception, psychopathy and murder. Milo, a police consultant worked with Gramm, White and Preston to get to the bottom of this case that has Sutherland involved. There were 6 riders on a virtual system, what went wrong and who is to blame? Now get this book and find out!!!! YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!
I mostly give 4 star reviews. For me 4 stars are a good book. If it's less than that, I don't spend time on it. I give 5 star reviews for very good books. I enjoyed this book and have enjoyed the series. I'm anxiously awaiting the next book. Milo, who suddenly finds himself rich and living in his boyhood home which is the estate of the man who hired Milo's mother as his cook, looks at the world differently than most people. His supporting characters include the son of the man who owned the estate. They happily share a house that was left to both of them. In some ways Milo knows the house better than the son who was raised in the house and still lives there. They have a cook with a family living on the estate. Milo has a personal assistant. He is a contractor to the cops and has opened his own investigation agency but it's only for interesting cases. Milo spends a lot of time with the police officers investigating murders. Milo finds himself the hero of a novel and has to be part of the police PR. He's investigating a finger bone found in a neighbor's closet. The police are investigating the death of a man on a bike prototype. Why did he die on Tuesday?
I have been waiting ( not very patiently) for this wonderful book…I just can’t get enough of Milo Rathkey….. I recommend this series to everyone I know.. I love the humor and I love trying to figure out who done it… Keep writing and I will keep reading…. Thank you….❤️
I love this series! Milo Rathkey is an entertaining character with a quick mind and a quick tongue with witty remarks. The mystery of who killed Charlie was involved and kept me guessing. The side plot of the skeleton in the closet was entertaining. These books don’t last long enough for me. I’m ready for the next one already!
Once I found these books a few days ago, I have been listening to them via Audible back to back. I’m now on book 6. The characters are likable and the stories are interesting and unpredictable. I love to laugh and have found unexpected humor that has made me laugh out loud.
I’m so glad that I found this author and these books.
The Milo Rathkey Mysteries are, simply, wonderful. They are well written and well crafted, they are cleaver, smart, and witty. I can never get enough of Milo, his assortment of friends and the very interesting cases they solve. Can’t wait to start the next one.
Milo has two mysteries. One: who does the finger that was found in his neighbors attic belong to. And Two: why was one of Sutherlands riding buddies electrocuted? Lots of fun finding the answers. 😁
Didn't like how fast the Sutherland/Agnes thing went kinda spoiled the vibe. Solution was a reach too. Still really like Milo and his relationships with friends.
