Money can’t buy love. But it can buy isolation.
Dress so well, so polished, no one will ever dare to look me in the eye.
Then I met her…

It was one night. No names. No problem.
I gave myself over to the kind of desire I didn’t think I could feel again.
When I woke up she was gone.

Now she’s back.
In my office.
My turf.

And I can’t stop thinking about her.
She’s nothing like I remember.
She’s better.
Irresistible. That makes her trouble.
Anyone who turns me on like this is trouble.

She’s smart. Smart enough not to get involved with me.
A stubborn monster. An all-consuming beast.
Until we can’t take it anymore.
It’s better than I remember.
Scorching kisses. Heated skin. Bodies slick with sweat.

Now she says we made a mistake.
I say different.

My baby growing inside her is in no way a mistake.

Second Chances

Gwendolyn "Gwen" Mallory (Foley) and Andrew Michael Morgan have a cute and steamy story that I really liked. I love that their one-night stand was out of character for who they were at that time in their lives, and how they each reacted to being thrown together again kept things entertaining.

The audio doesn't include the extended prologue / prequel, so if you have the book, be sure to read it. It's only a few short, steamy chapters, but they are highly recommended and worth reading.

While Enrico, Gwen and Andrew's boss, is a bit of a romantic, he does seem to miss some cues around the office. LOL!

There was one subject that was left unanswered. More than one really, but I suspect the others will be answered in future series books, as this contained the setup for the next two. The one I'm referring to is related to Gwen's ex, Dan. What did happen? Why did he walk away? Why was he so eager for a quick divorce after letting so much time pass? (UPDATE: This is answered in book 2 of the series.)

I received an author's copy of the audio book to accompany my ebook. The narrators are Auri Alden and Stephen Borne. I loved both and their Italian accents when they were appropriate. They really would've been better with duet narration, though.

Starts off fun and ends up dramatic
Audiobook version: 4 stars overall, 4 stars story, 5 stars narration

I really enjoyed this office romance set in the world of high fashion at Prada. Lovable characters, a realistic and detailed setting, and excellent narration elevated this contemporary romance to something remarkable. It seems like the author did some good research about what marketing people in the fashion industry actually do. The bedroom scenes were wonderfully steamy. I adored the rom-com elements and the office romance, but the book was a little too much of an emotional rollercoaster for me. Thankfully there was a happily ever after. I am looking forward to listening to the rest of the series.

Triggers: there were lots of triggers about breast cancer.

Mainly I rated this novel 4 stars instead of 5 because the last part of the plot was driven by the overused device of inadequate communication causing unnecessary conflict. This choice by the writer seemed lazy to me. I could overlook the overused unplanned pregnancy trope. It did slightly annoy me that neither main character seemed to know about the existence of the Morning After Pill.

Both narrators gave excellent performances, but the female narrator Auri Alden really blew my mind. Auri Alden reminded me of Julia Whelan and is just as talented as her. Auri has a gorgeous alto voice that is eloquently expressive and perfect. Her male voices are amazing and sound very sexy. The male narrator Stephen Borne is very good overall. He has a sexy male voice, but his female voice for the heroine is not quite good enough.

I requested and received a free audio copy, and I voluntarily wrote this honest review. #PFPAudio #PinkFlamingoProductions #TheFlockVIPReviewTeam

Wait for Me by Deborah Garland is a office romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Auri Alden and Stephen Borne. This is the first book in the Forever Mine series.

This is the second book of Deborah's that I have read and it won't be my last. I really enjoyed the relationship that bloomed between Andrew and Gwen. I liked that we got both of their points of views throughout the book.

I can't wait for the next book in the series All for Me to be released on audio so I can get Faith and Greg's story.

Auri and Stephen did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like office romances or contemporary romances.

**I would have liked to see the Bonus Prequel in the audiobook. I downloaded the book as well to go along with the audiobook and was happy I seen this prequel. It's not needed to enjoy the book, but I loved getting the details of their first hook up.

Oh My Stars - I adored this listen! What a perfect romance! Amazing characters that are flawed but so relatable. This book took me on a journey of love, loss, hope and more. Our main characters are Gwen and Andrew. I love how these two met and eventually came to be in each other's lives. Dual narration by Auri Alden and Stephen Borne was perfect. The smooth soft voice of Alden was perfect for Gwen - she came to life as a soft but strong woman and Borne with his rough voice brought out the protective nature of Andrews character. The storyline flowed perfectly, and I loved all the secondary characters that were brought as well. So many great moments throughout the book and a lead to the story to come in book 2 which I am super excited about...Loved this book and can't wait for more!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I voluntarily provided this review.

Good story!

I enjoyed this story for the most part. The characters were entertaining and the overall plot was good, however, this story didn’t grab me for some reason. There were moments of despair that pulled at my heart strings and the chemistry was good. I don’t understand why it didn’t excite me more. That said, it really wasn’t a bad story IMO.
The narration was really good. I really liked Stephen Borne’s voice acting, although his female voice wasn’t my favorite, his performance was very good.
Auri Alden’s voice was fantastic, however, her volume level was all over the place. When she voiced something to herself or in a whisper/somber tone, I had to continuously adjust my volume. Her performance in one particular scene, did have me in tears though.
This is book 1 with an HEA and can be read as a standalone.

This book was TERRIBLE. It had promise to be good. It started off okay. Then the skinny shaming started. Andrew referred to Gwen as curvy, as she is a size 6. As a plus size woman, that was a huge slap in the face. Especially when Gwen would compare herself and call herself a whale compared to the size 2s in her office. Get a grip, or maybe a therapist. Also, Gwen just sucked as a main character. The romance genre needs to normalize having a strong fmc with a brain. I couldn’t wait to be done with this book.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️
• love at first sight, one night stand, pregnancy, billionaire meets ordinary girl, model •
TRIGGERS: cancer, death, miscarriage

This was my first paperback read of 2023 from my first box with Reveal Romance Subscription! & I can say that I was genuinely happy with my picks.

This book had a couple grammatical errors that made the readability a little difficult. There was also a lot of Italian communication that I had to skip over w/o understanding. Overall, that gave the .5 loss from 5 stars. The spice was minimal — way less than what I am used to, but still good — and the plot was perfect. I held on from the first page to the last just wanting more. The author really took you along with the characters and made sure you shared their pain. I would read again, most definitely.
————————————————————————————————
Gwen, a small town ordinary girl, had a one night stand a year previously with her now boss, Andrew. Little did she know she would soon fall head over heels in love with this Prada loving, ex-model. Andrew didn’t have an easy life, lost his wife from cancer, and Gwen didn’t come to her success easily. She had to grow up fast after her mother passed away, leaving behind a brother and sister, she set out to make something of herself. She didn’t know she would find her true love while also going through a divorce.

Such a fun, quick read 🌸

Tropes spolier:

The tension, the smut?!? I loved everything about this book. Typically, I hate the pregnancy tropes, but this was actually a really good one.

The name Andrew has always had a bad connotation in my mind, but this book fixed that 🤭

Overall, I loved this book a lot more than I thought I would and would recommend it! I read it in a day so it was a quick read if you’re invested in the plot line! :)

NEW: I ate this book up in a day and wrote my last review late christmas eve so here is my attempt at a better, longer review lol.

This book was so good, the main characters chemistry was so good, and i loved the fact that they both had pasts but still loved each other as a first.

I was confused on the fmc ex-husband, like at the beginning, it seemed like he was going to create a problem between the 2 main characters, but there wasn’t much to his plot line and their plot line together.

Overall, I loved this book and the relationship between the two main characters is top tier. <3

Wait for Me
Forever Mine Series, Book 1
By: Deborah Garland
Narrated by: Auri Alden, Stephen Borne

I enjoyed this book immensely, it is an original and well-written story with interesting storylines that are captivating from start to end. The characters are easy to relate to and connect with, they are easy to care about too. Gwendolyn Foley has been working in the fashion industry for several years, and is happy to have landed the Marketing Executive position at a more prestigious company, Prada. She would work closely with the brand manager Andrew Morgan, who was currently working in their Milan office. They would share an office until they find her one to work out of, checking out the office, she soon learns she knows who Andrew is, he is the one she spent the night with after a fashion show last year, her one and only one-night-stand indiscretion after her breakup with her husband. Andrew returns to New York and it surprises him they hired someone without his input, and is even more surprised to see who it was. He was not very welcoming at first, and they are both battling their own inner demons, but they continue to be drawn to each other, and the chemistry between them is strong and sizzling hot. A lot goes on in this book and there is never a dull moment, it is a wonderfully plotted story with plenty of drama, their own personal drama, relationship drama, family drama, and drama in the workplace, a touch of angst, some heartfelt emotions and a steamy romance. Deborah Garland, thank you for another great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Auri Alden and Stephen Borne did an amazing job bringing these characters and story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they were portraying, gave each a voice that fit that character’s persona and were believable in every role they played. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’s emotions and projected them into their performance. These versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen.

Wait for Me
Forever Mine, Book 1
By: Deborah Garland
Narrated by: Auri Alden, Stephen Borne

Get ready for a wealth of emotions in this first book in the Forever Mine series. I went in blind and was not prepared for parts! Gwen and Andrew had a no name, one night stand a year ago, only to find themselves working together a year later. Now coming together, they are dealing with a whole new set of emotions. Insecurities aside, these two have a natural chemistry and easy banter that is both funny and charming. What I love about this book is the sequence of events, and how each of the characters deals with life changing decisions. They compliment each other and give each other the unconditional love needed. It's both an easy listen and a not so easy listen, making it a book that made me think and feel. The best kind of story. Now looking forward to the next in the series.

Auri Alden and Stephen Borne are our storytellers, and they are both fabulous. Alden is the emotionally driven Gwen, and I could feel her both open up and close into herself, just as I imagine. There were some volume issues with hers, so I did have to up the volume on her inner monologues. Borne is great as Andrew. He too gives an array of feelings, as he deals with his past and falls into his future. They make a fantastic team and an enjoyable listen.

Set in the world of modeling and Prada, Gwendolyn and Andrew found each other five years ago, had a one night stand and never forgot the other. Now they're both employed by Prada and Andrew finds out that Gwen is his new colleague and they share an office. It's a wonderfully emotional way to start, especially when it's revealed that Andrew is a widower who struggles with guilt about moving on after losing his wife to cancer. Although she's a model, Gwen feels a little insecure because Andrew is a gorgeous man who she comes to find out was a model in his previous life. His wife was also a model and Gwen doesn't think she can compete with the ghost of the perfect wife. What she doesn't know about his marriage is that it was far from perfect. This story is powerful when it deals with love lost and found, again. The story was beautifully narrated by Auri Alden and Stephen Borne. Their dynamic, well-paced voices blended together with both male and female parts and gave the story added  depth and emotion as it came alive.

This office romance started out cute and I was intrigued to see how the author would deal with the MMCs trauma but it went downhill fast. With all the model/thin shaming early on, it read like it was written by a man who was hurt by a model or a woman bitter bc she wants to be one but can't.

Seriously, the MCs make fun of models with an air of superiority no one who works for the machine that churns out said neurotically weight obsessed women should dare to have.

There's a braindead scene where the MMC calls the FMC into a meeting to show her as an example of what a healthy body looks like to a model obsessing over gaining a few OUNCES. It came off like, "look how fat she is and she's beautiful." He goes on and on about how much he loves her curves and then says she's a size 4. 😐

I really wanted to love this - I'm a sucker for a broken MMC but I just couldn't.

2.5 ⭐️

Unexpected romance after a one night stand- I was excited for the trope, but the book was messy to me. Gwen and Andrew constantly went back and forth between wanting to be with one another to not being good enough for each other or wanting to tell how they feel about one another. If they would have simply communicated things would have been way smoother, not to mention he called her his ex wife’s name and she simply let it go. It did have some good parts though and in the end they finally got their happy ever after and worked through all the drama. TRIGGER WARNING- lots of talk about breast cancer.

Reading this book will make you feel different emotions. It’s a roller coaster of emotions. Each character has their own past experiences that makes them vulnerable. It’s a second chance romance, both characters are looking for another chance in love in a different kind of way of feelings, having that whirlwind romance or love at first sight time of thing💕. I did enjoy this book, overall rate it 4/5⭐️. If you are into second chance romance, office romance, one night stand trope then give this a read! Available in kindle unlimited🫶

Audible Review

Andrew and Gwen met a year ago and had a passionate one night stand with no names. Now in a twist of fate Gwen has a new job working for Prada and working along side, no other than Andrew. They have a great chemistry but both have pasts that are shall we say, are unresolved. But are they both willing to open up their hearts and grab a hold of what right on front of them.

I really enjoyed the narration off this story by Auri Alden and Stephen Borne I feel they read these characters perfectly and I could really feel the emotions of the story coming through.

A good story about finding love again, despite not exactly wanting too, in unlikely places. One night stand meet again stories are generally funny, but this carried a ton of emotions and angst. He may be a fashion genius, but Andrew has alpha protector tendencies. Gwen is strong and fiesty and these two start their work together a bit of enemies, but it doesn't take too long before that melts to lovers since both are fighting feelings they'd rather not have. You can't help but root for them to find their HEA as they battle the struggles of miscommunications and painful pasts that still haunt them. Auri Alden and Stephen Borne brought these characters to life with the narration.

This book was a nice easy read but very fast paced. I feel like we missed the part where they actually fell in love. They both had a night together a year ago, see each other again and are instantly in love. It would've been nice to see them actually working together, getting to know each other and going on dates.
Also it was weird the way so many topics were just skimmed over, like why did the FMC get a divorce? Why did it take her so long to sign it? What was the MMC previous marriage like? He said it wasn't perfect and didn't speak about it again.

It was ok, interesting premise but I don't think it was executed well. We went from the MMC pining over his dead wife, valid, to suddenly being in love with his former ONS, now coworker. I also never felt the chemistry between the two, I can sometimes look past instant love/lust, but I didn't feel much here. I also had an issue with the MMC POV, at times his voice sounded similar to the FMC. I understand why you'd want two POVs here, he has a lot to work on that's pretty central to the story, but he didn't feel like an almost 40 year old guy.

It is a love story that comes from a one night stand. But that's does nothing for their love now. He adores her and she's crazy about him.but they do go through their ups and downs. He's finally ready to admit to her that he loves her, she's going to tell him that she's pregnant and they found a lump in her breast. You're going to have to listen to the book to find out what happens. The narration and storyline was great and so was the author

Little bit of a struggle

I will admit this book started off really strong, but it certainly lagged in the middle. It took me a lot longer than normal to finish, as I kept putting it down to be a human. It unfortunately wasn't a page turner in the middle, but it did get back to a very good read by the end.
Patience was the key for this book, which sometimes I do lack that and am quick to DNF, but I am glad I finished this one.

so excellent

This story was so good! When her unforgettable one night stand ends up being her new boss AND she has to share an office with him… well awkward is an under statement! Add to that, undeniable attraction that neither of them wants to give into and you’ve got one heck of a steamy story!

DNF 4% Not my kind of story

(Spoiler: Begins as a one night stand between two unrealistic gorgeous people who are or were previously married to other people. One is estranged and one is mourning the death of love of their life. The overwhelming heaviness of grief mixed with over sexualized details are not my style)

Both have hurt in their pasts..They tiptoe round the obvious, not communicating their actual feelings which causes doubts.

This is the first story in the "Forever Mine" series. The audio book was really good and the narrators did a good job with their performance and bringing the characters to life. The story is about Andrew and Gwen. It is an office romance that develops nicely. The characters are great and I like how the become a couple. I enjoyed every bit of their story.

DNF’d at the started of chapter 24. Mainly because the characters didn’t seem to realize PLAN B EXISTS. Like if you’re going to have sex you need to realize there are consequences to your actions and one of those could be pregnancy but to just hope you’re not gonna get pregnant is completely irresponsible and ridiculous. I just couldn’t handle it.
