A heartwarming cozy mystery series about losing everything, taking a chance, and starting again.
After suffering a personal tragedy Abby Sullivan buys a huge old seaside mansion she has never even seen, packs up her life in San Francisco, and moves to Holiday Bay Maine, where she is adopted, quite against her will, by a huge Maine Coon Cat named Rufus, a drifter with her own tragic past named Georgia, and a giant dog with an inferiority complex named Ramos. What Abby thought she needed was alone time to heal. What she ended up with was, an inn she never knew she wanted, a cat she couldn't seem to convince to leave, and a new family she'd never be able to live without.
In book 19 in the series, it's spring in Holiday Bay and new guests have arrived to enjoy the plentiful sunshine. Lonnie has begun construction of the four new cottages and decisions relating to color and design keep Abby hopping. Abby's most recent manuscript has been turned in leaving time in her schedule to pitch in as a volunteer for the annual spring events and everything is as it should be with the exception of the disturbing emails Georgia has been receiving. So far Colt isn't too concerned chalking it up to an obsessive fan, but when the emails migrate from her work email to her personal account Colt decides it's time to put a stop to it.
Kathi lives with her husband, kids, grandkids, and dogs in beautiful Lake Tahoe. When she isn't writing, Kathi likes to read (preferably at the beach or by the fire), cook (preferably something with chocolate or cheese,) and garden (planting and planning not weeding). She also enjoys spending time on the water when she's not hiking, biking, or snowshoeing, the miles of desolate trails surrounding her home. Kathi uses the mountain setting in which she lives, along with the animals (wild and domestic) that share her home, as inspiration for her cozy mysteries.

I love Kathi Daley's books but this one has info-dump after info-dump. Too much of a character repeating a previous conversation, then a second character repeats the same conversation, and to make things worse, one or both think the whole info-dump all over again. Repeat chapter after chapter, over and over again.
Solita veloce, poco impegnativa e piacevole lettura.
This may be the 19th book in the series but Ms. Daley never allows the stories to grow stale. It was wonderful being back in Holiday Bay and visiting with all of the characters. What a nice surprise to see George and Brit from Ms. Daley's Writer's Retreat series again. The story was quickly paced with clever twists that kept me turning the pages.
Hint in the Hashtag is the nineteenth book in Kathi Daley’s heartwarming Inn at Holiday Bay series. The well-plotted storyline flows smoothly, and multiple twists and red herrings in the complex mystery keep the reader engaged. The setting is charming, and the well-developed characters are three-dimensional, compassionate, and caring. Every time I pick up one of Ms. Daley’s books, I know that I’m in for a treat, and I’ve never been disappointed. I highly recommend this series to readers who enjoy well-crafted cozy mysteries.
After Abby Sullivan lost her husband and their infant son in a tragic accident, she moved to Holiday Bay, Maine, opened the Inn at Holiday Bay, made a new life for herself, and found a home and a family. Georgia Carter, who has also overcome obstacles in her life, is the inn’s talented cook/baker and manager, and she and her Newfoundland dog, Ramos, live with Abby, Rufus, a Maine Coon, and Molly, a terrier mix, in a cottage on the property. Georgia’s cable cooking show, “Cooking with Georgia,” is doing well. Jeremy Slater, who lives in the inn’s basement apartment with his young niece, Annabelle, is a valuable asset who helps with the inn’s day-to-day operations.
Abby, Georgia, and Jeremy are looking forward to Lonnie’s crew completing their work on four of the eight cottages that will be available for guests to rent. In recent months, Georgia began receiving unsettling emails at her “Cooking With Georgia” address, but when they grow darker in context and start arriving in her personal email account, she enlists the help of the bartender at the Bistro at Holiday Bay, who is a computer guru, to identify the sender. Meanwhile, Colt is trying to determine if the death of a local lobsterman, Lewis Keaton, was accidental or intentional.
I absolutely love this series, to be honest, anything by this talented cozy mystery author I have to read and have always enjoyed.
The latest from Abby, Georgia and their friends at The Inn at Holiday Bay sees big changes at the Inn Abby bought on a whim after the tragic death of her husband and Son. After many years running the Inn together, Georgia decides she wants to make a go of it with Tanner, while still being the Chef at the Inn. Between Abby and Georgia they work it out, but will the dynamics changing alter the character of the Inn, and the family they've built there?
Of course, these books wouldn't be the same without a murder, and Colt has a strange one on his hands this time, working out what happened to one of the lobster boat owners who was found dead in the water.
This book also sets up a new series by Kathi Day, The Bistro at Holiday Bay, one which Im looking forward to reading. Shelby and Amy, two of the Inn's past guests who have become like family to Abby, decide to go into business together.
These books are best read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and series.
If you like cozy mysteries, you'll love this series!
I adore thus series and love following along as Abby and the crew solve different mysteries this book was one of the most fun to read it kept me turning the pages as fast as I could read the chapter just to see what was happening next it was the perfect cozy read to pull myself out of a reading funk I highly recommend not only this book but this whole series
This was a good installment of this series. All the old characters are here but lots of changes are afoot. Of course, there is a murder that Abby and her boyfriend and cop Colt, investigate and solve. It is with the murder investigation that the twists and turns make the story interesting. I did think the ending a bit anticlimactic (thus the 4 star rating), but reasonable once all the pieces were revealed. This story is also a segway for another book series, The Bistro at Holiday Bay. The synopsis of the first book is enticing for this new story line, so will look forward to that in a few weeks. I am not totally sure why the situation with Georgia was put in unless it is just a "like real life" filler. Maybe the author is going to do something more with it, or maybe not if it was a filler. Anyway, this was a good quick read for those who follow this series like me.
I love this series. Not a lot of action in this one but I see the author wrapping up several side stories. I guess the series may be coming to an end and I'll be sorry when it does.
Amazon synopsis: In book 19 in the series, it's spring in Holiday Bay and new guests have arrived to enjoy the plentiful sunshine.
It's spring in Holiday Bay and Abby has some free time. Her latest book has been turned in and the inn is closed as construction on the four cottages is ongoing. However, the disturbing emails that Georgia has been receiving start coming to her personal email address, so everyone decides that it's time to put a stop to them. There are also changes going on that Abby must deal with.
I've really enjoyed this series, and this book is no exception. It's well-written with wonderful characters and a well-thought-out plot. I was drawn into the engaging story and kept hooked from beginning to end. It is a quick, fun read that I read in one sitting. The mystery will keep you guessing throughout. While the story can be read on its own, I suggest reading the series in order for the most benefit and enjoyment. I highly recommend both book and series.
Georgia is receiving disturbing emails from an anonymous sender which cause her to have second thoughts about renewing the contract on her cooking show. The Inn is temporarily closed so Lonnie and his team of contractors can work full time on the building expansion project without disturbing guests. A local fisherman picks a fight in the bar one day and soon afterward his bruised body is discovered on the beach under strange circumstances. A lot of plot lines are getting wrapped up in this book. Characters are taking on new responsibilities as well as changing addresses. I felt that the "mystery" part of the book was rather weak compared to past parts of this series. There was a lot of repetition as well as reporting what someone overheard somewhere. I always enjoy reading about the residents of Holiay Bay, but this episode was disappointing.
This is the nineteenth book in the Inn at Holiday Bay series. The whole series has been wonderful and I've re-read many of them. This book is one of my favorites.
Abby owns a fabulous inn and her best friend, Georgia manages it, while also doing her own TV cooking show.
For a little while, Georgia has been getting very odd and slightly disturbing messages in her cooking show email, but now she has started getting them in her personal email, so things are getting seriously nerve-wracking.
Abby's boyfriend, Colt, the local law enforcement, is currently involved with the death of a local lobsterman, which is suspicious, but not a clear case of murder.
Great mystery and loads of really enjoyable human interaction. Highly recommended.
Everybody is moving on in this edition of the Inn at Holiday Bay series. Georgia is moving in with Tanner next door plus she has a cyber stalker. There's a computer expert/bartender at a restaurant/bar in town and when Georgia, Abbie, and Amy go to meet with him Amy decides she wants to buy the establishment and then Shelby decides they should partner up. Mylie decides to move in with Jeremy and also work at.the inn, and who knows what all this moving around will do for Colt and Abbie.
There is also a dead body to investigate along with the cyber stalking case.
I was very happy to read about all the changes, I think they will bring some welcome interest back into the community.
You will probably best enjoy this series if read in order but let me assure you you'll be happy you do. This is one of my favorite series with wonderful characters. I also enjoy the setting, the guests, who become good friends, and the mysteries. This time one of the darker, more sinister aspects of the book involves stalking. It affects Georgia, who is enjoying some success with a television show and cookbooks. And there is a murder in the community. Since Holiday Bay is a close community and Abby is involved with the local top cop, she can't keep herself from investigating. Catch up now because I feel changes are in the works!
While I have enjoyed most of this series, this book had very little of the usual energy and enthusiasm around the actual mystery. The author's real focus was on plugging a new series they were spinning off around 2 characters who appeared in several other books in this series. While I will certainly read at least the first book or two to see if there is enough variation or interest to read those books as well as this continuing series, the actual mystery in this story was dry and uninteresting. The main character just kept repeating the facts of the case ad naseum with her various friends until it was suddenly tied up with 2 last minute revelations.
Georgia may have a stalker when she receives various emails that hint at a threat. She is moving in with her boyfriend/fiance, and this will be leaving Abby alone in her cottage except when Colt visits. Abby is feeling a little bit down over the changes that are coming, even though she is happy for all the joy that is going on. In the meantime a local fisherman turns up dead in the bay. It is unclear if he died of his own doing, being a drunkard, or if he died under nefarious circumstances. Abby helps Colt piece together the timeline of his last night on earth so they can uncover the truth in his passing. Book #19 in the series. Love getting to know the characters a bit more with each book.
I just solved a wonderful mystery and visited with old friends. It’s both heartwarming and sad when relationships change or evolve. The past is strong but the future is stronger. As Georgia moves in with Tanner, Abby will be by herself. Or sharing space with Colt? Businesses change hands and life moves forward. In the midst of all this change, murder takes place. A fisherman is dead and the question is was it an accident or murder? I enjoy these stories and I love the people that inhabit the books. Having finished this episode, I look forward to the next one.
This is a great ongoing series, but no cliffhangers. I do encourage starting with book 1 as the characters evolve throughout the books. There are changes in the main characters' lives, returning guests to the inn, new characters in the stories and always a mystery. You can read the synopsis so I won't rehash the storyline. If you need a relaxing quick read with a group of characters you would like to meet and an inn you would like to visit, grab the Holiday Bay series!
A domino effect starts when Georgia decides to cut her hours at the Inn and move to live with Tanner. Nikki has decided to move into town and stop her part-time work at the Inn. Mylie, Jeremy's girlfriend is interested in moving into the Inn and working full-time. We get an introduction to some of the new characters from The Bistro at Holiday Bay spin-off series. Dawson's, the bartender, mad computer skills and NSA background are utilized. Colt has a complicated case with a local fisherman's death.
This series is truly the definition of a cozy mystery. The characters are ones I could see myself spending enjoyable moments with. Of course, nothing remains the same as time passes. In this book, there are many life changing events involving Georgia and Tanner, and Shelby and Amy. Abby is also in the middle. Yes, there is a man who passes away under mysterious circumstances, and Colt will need to solve that one - with Abby’s help. Georgia also has a possible stalker. This book was easy to read and enjoy and is probably a springboard into a separate series about the Bistro.
Abby owns an inn in Holiday Bay Maine, and seems to always help her boyfriend, the chief of police when there is a murder in and around town. This time a body washes up on the docks where the victim kept his lobster boat. Was it an accident or was he murdered. It seems there were plenty of people who had an issue with the victim. Luckily there is renovations going on at the inn so it is closed to guests and Abby is free to assist.
This is a new book in a series. While not having read the other books in the series won't stop you from enjoying it, it helps to know the characters and backstory. Most of the problems stem from the inn but this was different in that occurred away from the and was not connected to it or anyone from the inn. I am assuming that this is a way of introducing her new series about the bar and restaurant. Still a good book and makes me ready for the new series.
I love this series, and can't wait to read the new series, Bistro at Holiday Bay, featuring characters from this series. This book did a nice job of setting you up to begin the new series! But it also outlines several major changes in the lives of the main characters in this one, and I look forward to reading how these changes affect the lives of Abby and Georgia as they begin a new phase if their lives, friendships, and business.
I have loved this series but there was so much repetition of dialogue in this one I started to get frustrated. How many times did Abby explain in full detail about Georgia’s plan to move out, Mylie’s plan to move in, etc. etc. I also found the non-stop use of the phrase “has been making noise about”as in “_______ has been making noise about…….whatever it is they wanted. Got old really fast. It just didn’t read like Kathi Daley’s usual style.
There were several mysteries to solve in this story so it was another fascinating read. The characters are very likable and realistic. I have come to enjoy all of them and their unique personalities. The mysteries had me stumped, but mostly resolved in the end. There was one loose end that seems to be more frequent in Kathi Daley's books. The "maybe we'll never know", WHAT? That makes me crazy. I need finality. Oh Well, moving on.
Absolutely love this authors books. All are well thought out and are like visiting old friends. The death of a local fisherman and weird emails to Georgia have our Heroine and Colt stumped. So many twists and turns. Really excellent read. Also new series starting next looks awesome!
It has been a while since I read a book in the series and I may even have missed one or two but it was good to catch up with the characters and all the changes going on in their lives. It was a decent mystery that kept Colt and Abby digging for answers.
Love this series about Abbey, Georgia,Colt, Tanner and all the characters in this series. In this story, Georgia is receiving emails ,she thinks it is due to her TV show, there is a murder that keep Colt busy and Georgia is finally moving in with Tanner. If you enjoy a good cozy mystery , this is a very good series.
This is a wonderful series and I highly recommend it and anything this author writes. Clean mysteries with fascinating characters that you find yourself getting attached to. Adorable pets behind the scenes and I can just picture in my head the beautiful Maine coastline setting.
These still a mysterious death for Colt to deal with, but the rest of the characters are absorbed in changes taking place in their lives. It seems most of the characters are either starting new businesses with new partners or living arrangements are changing. Some are exciting and some are bitter sweet. Let’s see how everything works out in the next story!
I have enjoyed this series right from the start. Great character’s and always a good mystery. I think reading from the start is best as you get to know characters and see the changes they go through. Look forward to the next one.
