The couple: Nikolai and Anya
Romance genre: mafia
Length: 392 pages
Plot: Our story opens with Nikolai facilitating the death of his fiance after finding out that she was a plant to spy on him. He's now going after the man who sent his fiance in and that means going after his daughter, Anya. He kidnaps Anya and begins to torture her - a little physical, a little sexual, a little psychological.
Commentary: I think perhaps Nikolai is supposed to remain an anti-hero, which is good, because that's definitely where his heart lies:
"Her soul will be quietly tortured just like she deserves."
"...pull her away from the wall in my rage, slaming [sic] her backward into it again. Her head hits the wall with a thud. Enraged, I grab her shoulders, shaking her hard."
"When I break that little bitch, it will be my greatest victory, and it will supersede anything that has passed before, honoring my family."
He also makes a point to continue to torture her by threatening that he'll probably kill her anyways: “Let yourself have this, give yourself to me, Anya, these might be your last days on this earth anyway.”
Nice guy. Anyways, I thought that Anya actually did a decent job of resisting him, which doesn't always happen in this trope. There were some loose ends though - not a lot of background on the father, the tidbit Nikolai dropped about being kidnapped and raised by someone else (that didn't need more explanation??!?!).
Grammar/formatting: needed another pass or two with a proofreader - many misused and misspelled words

Vision
Ok here we go. I really hate to do this because there were some funny moments but this was just missing so much. Let's start with the fact that she doesn't know who these guys are when they first showed up but then somehow she knows he's Bratva? What happened with her so called friends? I think it's pretty obvious they're only "friends" with her because of what she gets with her name, but yet she don't think of them till days later? I get they were using her, but if they had mattered to her why didn't she try to get their attention? Plus she went from not giving in to going along with it within just a few minutes! Then he sits there & says he don't fully trust her to being in love!? There was no mention of birth control or use of protection, yet no baby? I know that shouldn't matter, but I've read a lot of these books & there's always some sort of mention it. On top of all this there was so many typos & not just misspelled words. The first few chapters just seemed like the author wasn't sure which way it was gonna go, but then took a sharp turn & now we're in love & gonna live happily ever after!? The only reasons I'm giving 3 stars, instead of the 2 more, like 1 star it deserves, is because I loved her fighting sassy mouth when it turns playful with him & because there at the end there was some laugh kinda chuckle moments & I could see the potential this book could have had. Wouldn't really recommend.

Who doesn't love a Dark Enemies to Lovers Mafia Romance? Nikolai Volkovich is a cold, calculated, possessive & sexy Russian mafia boss. He was betrayed by his ex-fiance, who he dealt with appropriately, if you catch my drift. 🤷♀️😵 To seek revenge, he kidnaps Anya Griffith, the innocent daughter Peter Griffith, another Mafia boss who is the one that started it all. Anya is sweet, innocent, but also very feisty. Nikolai likes a challenge & Anya, even though she hates it, is definitely attracted to him. Lust builds between them & they start doing the tango, but Nikolai's well-thought-out plan backfires when they actually fall in love with each other. Story is entertaining with loads of banter, danger, & spice. 🥵🔥 I ate this book up, but just a warning, it definitely has a few darker themes so check your triggers if that's your thing.

This is a great story by Faye Pierce, dark but with some humorous banter.
Nikolai raged, how could he have been such a fool, never again, the beautiful Helena would pay with her life, he had given her everything, money jewellery, beautiful homes and he was going to make her his wife but she had betrayed him.
Nikolai Volkivich was the head of a wealthy Russian mafia family and he now had revenge in his sight, he would kidnap the only daughter of the man who had betrayed him, Peter, the head of the Griffiths mafia family, he would humiliate her, he would get her to do unspeakable things, he would make her fear him, and then.......
Anya Griffith had no idea what was happening when she was abducted from her father's club by the handsome Russian and his men but she wouldn't go quietly. This had to have something to do with her fathers business but if it was information they wanted they were unlucky, she knew nothing.
Nikolai liked that Anya was feisty, no one had dared to speak to him like she had but he would tame her and enjoy the challenge and when her father came looking for her he would reap his revenge.
This is the story of the fights between Anya and Nikolai, the off the scale chemistry, they were polar opposites but the attraction was electric.
Would Anya's father rescue her ? Could Nikolai carry out his threat to kill her ? The story was a bit predictable but nevertheless a great journey leading to a lovely HEA.

Just reading the first two chapters I found the story exciting and engaging. Nikolai is a Russian mafia. He captures Anya. to find her father and take revenge But Anya wasn't the kind of prisoner he thought. She was strong, she was a fighter. and she doesn't give up Even with some fear But she did not surrender to him. until lust took over both of them. Anya could not resist manipulation from Nikolai. She fell into his trap. And I must say that the sex scene of the two It was very hot, not soft, although Nikolai took her for revenge. but he never hurt her He might look a bit mean. But he always protects her. In particular, one of Nikolai's underlings attacked Anya. and he punished without hesitation
and my favorite scene It may be that the two revealed more about their family and got to know each other more. And Anya tries to understand Nikolai. Even though she didn't know the reason why he wanted to take revenge on her father. but she trusted him And even more, both had similar childhoods. The more they understand each other better.
when the feelings deepen Nikolai had to choose between revenge or love.
I won't spoil any more. 😂😂 But you will find the answer in this novel. And I say you won't be disappointed. The chemistry between Nikolai and Anya was very strong. They were born for each other.

From the start this book felt dark, but there are some humorous parts in it, and you can relate to the characters really well, it is well written and keeps you wanting to read more, I couldn't stop reading.

Hunter's Prey penned by the author Faye Pierce is an interesting story. Main character of the story is Nikolai Volkovich. He is full of rage because of being betrayed by his fiancee. Betrayal is something Nikolai doesn't take lightly so he killed her.
Anya Griffith is Peter Griffith’s only daughter. Peter is the owner of Haven, a club. But when new owner Nikolai came to Haven, Anya was charmed by his personality. Nikolai is one of the most handsome men she has ever seen. He is the head of the Volkovich family. He wants to live up to his father's honor and avenge his death. Anya was taken to Nikolai's home and he told her that she can't leave now. Both of them would be living in Nikolai's home as Anya is the key to his vengeance. Even though Anya was asking Nikolai to not touch her body, the extreme pleasure she got from Nikolai is something she has experienced for the first time.

Nikolai Volkovich is the violent head of the Russian mafia who has killed many times, including his fiancée who betrayed him. Now he’s seeking revenge on his latest enemy. Anya Griffith is the daughter of a rival mafia head who becomes a pawn in Nikolai’s revenge when he kidnaps her from her father’s club. He takes her back to his home and strips her of her dignity and her clothing. But Anya’s a fighter and is not going down without a fight. She defies his orders at every turn resulting in punishment and sometimes torture. As Anya realizes the best way to stay alive is to seem to go along with what he wants, his punishments start to feel different. She begins to wonder if she’s suffering from Stockholm syndrome or if she is starting to feel something for Nikolai? Nikolai trusts no one and is waiting for her to try to escape or kill him. As Anya slowly starts to break through the walls around his heart, they both start to wonder what will happen to them when his revenge against her father is complete. The way this story ends surprised me a bit, but I loved it.
I’m not usually a dark mafia fan but I AM a Faye Pierce fan and highly recommend this book!

I was gripped from start to finish.
From the first sentence I was totally captivated and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to see what was going to happen and how it would happen.
Great writing and flow to the story.
Fast paced and exciting.
Perfect blend of sexy and dangerous.
I absolutely loved Anya.
She’s courageous and feisty.
Big hearted but not a pushover.
A great strong heroine.
She gives as good as she gets.
Nikolai is the head of his mafia family.
He is without mercy, he’s ruthless and will extract revenge through any means possible when he feels he’s been wronged.
And Nikolai feels he’s been definitely wronged by Peter Griffith, Anya’s father.
His prey to the path for vengeance…Anya.
Wow their chemistry is off the charts.
The sizzle is hot.
Their dynamics explosive.
And their lust and passion is undeniable.
I was throughly enthralled with Anya and Nikolai’s story.
I loved the danger and excitement of it.
The suspense and drama.
The sexiness and sweet bond they had.
And the very unexpected twist that Ms. Pierce took the story.

Intense Read
Like all her other books, the very first chapters have you hooked. Nikolai is Russian mafia, he takes Anya to find her father and take his revenge. Anya isn't the kind of prisoner he thought. She is strong and she doesn't give up. Even when she is fear she doesn't surrender to him. Until finally the attraction/lust she has for him takes over. She falls into his trap. These two have some very intense and hot moments 🔥🔥. Nikolai may have taken Anya for revenge but he never hurts her. He might have been a bit mean to her at first, but he always protects her. The more time Nikolai spends with Anya, the more it seems he is developing strong feelings for her. He doesn't know how his plans for revenge will end. This book is a little darker of a read then her some of her other books, but it still has some humorous/lighthearted moments that you will love. This is a great addition to The Faye Pierce Library, definitely an enjoyable read.

Hunters pray
So I started this book and immediately thought just the same old story. Daughter is stolen for revenge against something her father has done daughter acts stupid and falls in love but I found this story to be much more.
The 2 main Characters have much more in common than they 1st think and in this case it doesn't seem like the father is all that bothered about his daughters disappearance. Appearances are not always as they seem.
This book had many story lines and a great deal of back information which I really liked.
This couple definitely didn't have a conventional start to their relationship but they most definitely work. They have great chemistry and bounce off each other so well.
Probably one of my most favourite Faye Pierce books to date. Thoroughly enjoyed this book definitely worth a read.

Hunter's Prey was a dark Russian Mafia enemies to lovers book. This is my absolute favorite trope to read and had been burned out by this trope for some time. The mafia was starting to get predictable and I lost interest. But with this book's holy hotness, I was surprised at the originality of the story being told. I had me from the very beginning.
Nikolai was crazy dark, dangerous and delicious. He definitely was ruthless and had an aura of not caring about Anya. Anya was a total spitfire and didn't totally give into Nikolai's brutality. They were each other's yin and yang. I loved the twist and turns throughout this whole book. I kept thinking about what is next, and when the next came I was like what really this is freaking fantatstic.

A. slow start with a beautiful and powerful ending!
Nikolai was betrayed by his fiancé who killed his father. She fell from his balcony after she disclosed who was behind the deception and murder. He was seeking revenge and what way was to find his enemy daughter and kidnap and torture her. Anya was a rich girl who had everything and didn’t want for nothing. She was in her father’s club when Nikolai and his men walked in. She decided to see what the disturbance was and was kidnapped by Nikolai. He didn’t realize that he had a strong willed woman who would not lay down at his demand. To break he he learned to love her in spite of him not trusting. This is a slow burn story that I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend for reading.

I enjoy reading Faye Pierce’s books and Hunter’s Prey is another one of her outstanding books.
The story of Anya and Nikolai will keep you glued to the pages from start to end. It is amazing how Faye can effortlessly bring the characters to life in the pages of her books and this one is no exception. No skip over parts here-please. And No spoilers.
What I will say is - Read every page of this amazing story. There are so many twist and turns and ‘Damn, I did not see that coming’ parts.. and holy crap he actually did what…….no, oh yes he did……...

If you like dark Mafia romance then this book could be for you. It’s an enjoyable read with a fast paced plot. The chemistry between Nikolai and Anya is scorching hot with plenty of hot and spicy sexy scenes that makes it a very easy to read page turner. Nikolai is the typical hot, possessive, dark and domineering alpha male but he has met his match in Anya who is one strong, feisty and sassy female.
Overall, a good read that captivated me from the first page to the last. I also enjoyed the extended epilogue, a nice surprise! I hope there will be a further novel that continues Nikolai and Anya’s story.

I have read and absolutely loved several of Faye Pierce’s dark mafia stories and Hunter’s Prey is no exception! Starting with betrayal leading to a revenge kidnapping and progressing all the way to a mafia wedding, this book was fast paced and completely captivating.
Im not gonna lie, I’m a slut for a good mafia romance. The way Faye lays out the world and the background so there’s nothing missing is amazing! And the development of each character arc is *chef’s kiss* I adore the relationship that develops between the FMC and MMC, and be honest—we all love someone who would burn the world to get to their person. 🔥
Absolutely obsessed and 100% recommend! I can’t wait for book 2!!

Beautiful and Brutal
Nikolai and Anya love story is brutal but beautiful! I love how it takes place all over the world. This was spicy and dark. It gives me beauty and the beast feel but mafia. I’m not mad at Nikolai. I understand him. Anya kinda felt plain at first but I changed my feeling for her half way throw the book. The plot had me lost at first but I understand a lot after.

Nikolai Volkovich has vowed vengeance for the betrayal of his family and kidnaps Anya Griffith (the enemy's daughter who Nikolai vows to destroy). This dark mafia story had me hooked from the first to the last page. There is betrayal, drama, secrets and plenty of passion and steam. I loved how Anya was a brave, feisty woman who fought her captivity with everything she had and enjoyed the development of their relationship as it evolved into something more. I loved it! Also loved the Extended Epilogue.

But all the people that hurt his father made him seek revenge against them and the last person is definitely Anya Griffith father, Peter Griffith. Nikolai, is ruthless, cold, and focused, but Anya is definitely sweet, innocent, and spicy. Both feels the attractions. This story is entirely entertaining, great to read, and plain enjoyable.

This book was amazing. I was instantly sucked in and could not put it down. Nikolai Volkovich is head of the Russian mafia. He is not scared to get what he wants, no matter how he has to go about it. When a rival mafia does Nikolai wrong, he kidnaps the guys daughter Anya. But as time progresses and things aren't going according to plan, Nikolai and Anya both find themselves drawn to each other. Will they end up together? Anya's fate rests in the hands of Nikolai.

This one was just okay. There were several grammatical errors and typos, and the tense randomly changed every once in a while. Moreover, I didn't get That just didn't make sense based on this character. I'm not interested enough to read the second book in the series.

This is the first book I’m reading from this author and WOW! Nikolai and Anya story is just amazing! I love their relationship building all through the book! I love Anya so much! She’s strong and so sweet at the same time. Seeing Nikolai falling for her is the best! I love the enemy to lovers trope and I’m not disappointed. Can’t wait to read the other books in the series!

Wow! What a read
I read this book in one evening, I just couldn't put it down. Every time i thought I knew what was going to happen next i was wrong. The story is so well written, the relationship starts of in one direction and then blossoms in another.
Amazing, and I loved every word and can't wait for the next book from the author.

AMAZING !!
I absolutely loved this story , Nikolai is filled with anger and wants his revenge . Anya is feisty and talks back and nothing like Nikolai was expecting . So many surprises at the end I loved it !! This is the first time reading this Author’s work , I came across the cover and said wow this looks good !! I can’t wait to read more of her books !

I loved the character development between the two characters. I did get a little teary eyes towards the end. Overall a wonderful read and I can't wait to read more by this author!

I loved with chemistry between Nikolai and Anya filled with rage but beauty. It had me by the first sentence and the story and plot had great turns and twist. It kept me engaged and wanting more! Plus steam and tattoos. 🥵🔥

Very good mafia standalone
This was my first time reading this author's writing and I can say I'm looking forward to reading more from her. Very well wrote and kept me engaged the whole time. Definitely recommend reading this book!
