Outcasts of Corin #1

The Alien's Sacrifice

Rate this book
I don’t deserve her, but I’ll risk everything to save her.

Tasha: We’ve carved out a little life for ourselves on Corin—me and the other human survivors. It’s not perfect, and I miss Earth, but we could never return. Not after what was done to us. Not after what we’ve become. So we keep to ourselves, hiding from anyone and anything that would do us harm, until our peaceful settlement is raided. Suddenly I’m a prisoner, and from the looks of it, I’m also about to be a sacrifice…

Lukent: Corin was meant to be a fresh start, but I knew better. I’d always be a scarred outcast from the rest of the Drixonian males, and no way would I ever have a chance to mate with the few human survivors we’ve rescued. Far from the happy villages, I plan to live out the rest of my days securing our borders and protecting the precious families of the fortunate mated Drixonians.

Until one day, my patrol leads me off my usual path and I find my entire worldview shift the first moment I lock eyes on the fighting, snarling human female in the grips of a deadly captor. Saving her means disrupting the peace for not only myself, but the rest of the Drixonians. Still, I’ll risk it all to save her… and to convince her she’s my fated mate.

This was fine. I didn’t realize it was a spin-off series and maybe if I had more nostalgic feelings for the setting/hero I would have loved it more. But that’s my fault not the book. I still understood everything. I’ll be honest I don’t always love the “my friends are in danger” plot in these types of books, bc when ever they get sidetracked I should be into the smexy side quest but instead I’m like, Um your friends could be dead while you are getting dicked down…

Original for alien romance!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚💜💙❤️
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: ☹️☺️😍😄
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Dual Narration

The heroine: Tasha - she and other human women are on the planet Corin. They had all been abducted from earth by aliens, they were mistreated and experimented on to the point where they had been altered and each has special abilities then they were tossed out like trash. They have had to fight for their freedom every day since then, even since they had started to make a life on Corin. They have all kinds of weapons that they keep close, some made by them, some were from their former captors. Corin was a big planet with a massive population, so they had to be careful wherever they were. Tasha is the de facto leader of the group and peacekeeper.

The Story: One of the women who could see the future, said they should leave their encampment, but Tasha knew the others were tired, so she decided they would wait until the following morning. But in the night, something attacked, some kind of huge alien with massive wings, large tusks, and snouts and they flew away with the women one by one. Tasha had an enhanced sense of smell and the smell that came before the attackers was awful. Tasha felt a tremendous amount of guilt for making the decision not to leave till morning.

The Hero: Lukent - he is a Drixonian male, an outcast. His race used to live on Corin but left after a virus wiped out their female population and left Corin by choice and only now after the war, have returned to the planet. They found it much changed and other races had moved in and made it their home. The Wutarch’s are the worst of them and the Drixonians were trying to find peace between the two races, despite the fact that the Wutarch’s were an awful race that treated their females terribly. Lukent’s clavasse was different than some of the other Drixonian clavasse’s. They are the outcasts of their race, the sons of deserters, and Lukent feels that they will never find mates.

I liked that this story started out a bit different than most alien romance. Not that they weren’t captured from earth by aliens, but that instead of immediately being sold into the sex trade, they were genetically modified and then left stranded on an alien planet. Then when they were kidnapped again by a savage race, it was to be sacrificed to their god and for their enjoyment.

When Lukent hears a human female scream towards the camp of the Wutarch’s, he sees that she is being held captive by the Wutarch’s. He knows he is not supposed to be in their territory, but he couldn’t live with himself if he doesn’t save her, especially after he knew she was his all. Though it will definitely not be helpful to the peace process, and his race doesn’t have any warriors to lose in another war.

The storyline about Tasha wanting to find her friends was a good one. I also liked Lukent’s backstory about being an outcast. They were treated like second class citizens by their own people because of what their fathers did. They weren’t supposed to have mates, because they didn’t want their lines to go on. I loved the fact that Tasha didn’t care and wasn’t afraid to say it to anyone who would listen.

This audiobook was told in the main characters points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Reagan West and Gabriel Mcknight. Reagan West has an expressive voice that is a bit lower than I usually like for a female narrator, though that just means she is better at doing male voices than many. Gabriel Mcknight has a soft, not-so-deep voice, he might be a tenor or baritone and is able to use different tones for different characters.

I really do not know how Ms. Maven does it. But every single series, the Original Drixonians and all of the Spin Offs that have followed have been superbly written. As much as I was dying to get back to the Drixonian world, I have to be honest and say that I was a little worried. Like how could this world be expounded upon in a way where everything is familiar yet new all at once? And once again, I was proven wrong and granted my wish all at the same time.

So this is the 1st book to the 3rd Spin off of the original series. Book 1 is more than a promising intro to this spin off. We are back in the climates of Corin and Torin, but with a whole new layer of intense emotion, intrigue, uncertainty, and fear. Our focus here is in regards to the Sons of Naught, (outcasts of Drixonian culture due to their sires' choices) and 6 new females who were actually here, before we met the women in the very first series. Theirs' is a new nightmare and an array of heartbreaking circumstances that follow because of it.

I LOVE that we got to see alot of our Original warriors, Daz and his crew of the Night Kings and their loves. A few quickies from the Stolen Warriors crew as well. But I am greatly intrigued by the Leader of the Outcasts here, Kutzal and his members as well. Lukent's story here in book 1, was beautiful. He and Tasha are amazing together. I love everything about his story and the set up for all the others to come.

I for one loved this intro to this new series, and I cannot wait to see what our new Drixonians have in store for us and the ladies that will own their battle worn hearts.

I’ve read one other book by this author. I wasn’t a fan, but I’m almost always willing to give writers a second chance.

Different series, higher overall average rating.

The verdict? Still weak.

*thank you to Tantor audio for the ALC*

I am so excited to be back with the Drixonian Warriors!

*****
Rating: 4 stars
Steam: 3 flames
Genre: Sci-fi Romance / Aliens / Fated Mates / Language Barrier
Triggers: Human experiments
*****
And we're back on Corin, this time with a new group of aliens... the outcasts. Each was shunned and branded for an offense they did not commit. Each is dedicated to defending the Drixonian race, with no hope of a happy ending for themselves. A bleak existence for someone who did nothing wrong but was born to a disgraced warrior.

Tasha and her group of human females have been through a lot. The Uldani had previously captured and experimented on each of them. This small group of women keep to themselves in order to survive on this alien planet, until they are attacked and separated one day by the Wutark. Tasha must save herself as well as her friends.

Lukent and the outcasts, along with Daz and the original Drixonian warriors, want to avoid a war on Corin, and in order to do so, they need a treaty that respects the Wutark's borders. But what if Lukent discovers the Wutark are about to sacrifice a human female? Will he uphold the treaty? Or will "She is All" triumph?

I'll tell you that these Drixonian warrior books are a total comfort read for me; it's like coming home every time I open a new story about these big blue warriors and this book was no exception. The Alien’s Scrifice is a fantastically entertaining and steamy ride.

Favorite characters from previous series make an appearance, which I thought was a nice touch. I really liked the characters, the plot, and, of course, the steam... This was another fantastic addition to the series, and I can't wait for Vinz' book... He piqued my interest right away. A definite recommendation from me, and as long as this author continues to write this series, I will continue to read it!

It’s not bad, but compared to everything else I’ve read in this genre I didn’t like this. I didn’t care about either of these people. I also didn’t know there was a prior series (though it’s very obvious once you hear about all these other humans). It’s probably better if you’ve read that series first.

Quick(ish) Review

Definitely more for fans of the Drixonian series, this spinoff is sweet and hits a lot of the same notes as earlier books with a few little twists. Like the experimentation was done on the human females instead of the Drixonians and it deals with the changes on the Drix home planet of Corin but same rules apply to the ‘verse. If you liked the earlier verse you may like this just as much. If you haven’t read that earlier series i think it may still work but for me it’s justa comfort read. Not breaking new ground and that’s ok. I’m uncertain times, comfort is king with me.

nice start

This was a nice start to what ended up being a sweet story. I honestly wish there was more adventure and Tasha was reunited with the other women in this book. I didn't get to see enough of any secondary characters to be invested in their story.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you the Drix are back!💖🔥💖🔥

Tasha and five other women have been in this galaxy for many years even longer than Frankie and the others from the first two series. Unfortunately, they were not rescued from the Undani and they were tortured and experimented on for a very long time. Each female has abilities that they were not born with thank to the experiments preformed on them. They managed to escape but their ship crashed on Corin and they've been trying to survive ever since. Unfortunately even with their abilities they are still vulnerable, and we're attacked and stolen by a evil new race that has settled on Corin. Lukent is an outcast. Outcasts are the children of those who deserted the military and brought shame to their families. The sins of the father's are visited upon the sons. They are seen as undesirable. While Lukent is on patrol he here's something her never thought he would this far away from the city a human female's scream. As soon As he recognizes it he runs to the rescue. Even though there are some language barriers they don't last long and soon Tasha and Lukent forms bond and a solid partnership. Passion ignites and love blossoms,, but will they d allowed to stay together? Will they rest of the Drix and their human mates accept what has been done to these new human females ? Will Kent and Tash survive and their love stay strong? You have to read and find out its soooooo good and I'm dying to read the next one in the series. It can't come out soon enough !!!! More Drix please please please!!!!💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖🔥🔥💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥🔥💖💖🔥🔥💖🔥💖💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖🔥💖💖💖🔥💖🔥💖

New spin-off series from Maven in the Drixonian's universe. This is a story about Lukent and Tasha. Lukent is part of a clavas of outcast warriors who protect the border between the Drix and the Wutark clan. Tasha and her friends were experimented on by the Uldani and each have special abilities. Now they live in a camp on Korin in the wilderness. When the Wutark kidnap all of them and destroy their camp, they are separated. Lukent saves Tasha from them. As an outcast, he is unfit to be a mate. You'll have to read it to see how that works out! I really enjoyed this story because we're dealing with a new "bad guy" in this world. Also, it's a different spin on the mates theme. Tasha is quite the little warrior. And Lukent is honorable. They are a dynamo couple. We even get to check-in with our old Drixonian friends and their human mates. This was a great weekend read! Don't miss the start to a new series in this fabulous world. Big blue aliens on motorcycles/hoverbikes? What's not to love?! 4 stars

Loving the outcast of Corin already!

While similar to the other Drix books (and I love the peek we get into the previous character’s lives), the outcasts has a different feel to it. I love that we get to see a different side to Drix society, a darker side that shows they weren’t all happy and sunshine. I also really appreciate the way the heroines are set up. They all have faced and overcome so many challenges and are totally badass before we really get to know them. Great read!

I was so excited for this book to come out! I have always wanted to know Lukent's story and hoped for him to find his "Cora eternal", he deserves it. I was not disappointed. The book gives us more of a background (the good and bad) of Drixonian life before the virus. I love the Fatas tower and Tasha's wish, oh my heart. I could feel her love for Lukent. Ella also gives us a view of what the planet Corin is like and there are some new bad guys. Now I can't wait to read about the other Lone Howls stories and Tasha's friends.

Loved it. Loved the characters and the way their relationship developed. Steamy scenes were a bit short/rushed, but I got over it on account of these two were adorable and I am excited to read the next book in the series because *forgets name* was the alien boy I immediately wanted to read a book about 😂 I like my crazy boys.
Now if these alien romances could stop popping up in my "recommended" when I'm trying to expand to other genres, that'd be great. i am way too easily drawn to space boys...

Have i found a new favorite alien author? Most likely! I cannot wait to binge more from Ella Maven.

This book was so much fun! I was obsessed with it. Kent is calm, sweet, thoughtful, and such a bad ass.

Tash is strong, speaks her mind, and is loyal to a fault.

Virgin heros for the fucking win! Plus piercings? Um fuck yes please!

Excuse me while I search up and read literally everything by this author.

Why did you read this book?
I wanted to read a romance and it was available at my local library.

What format did you read this book in?
Listened to the audiobook on Libby.

Is this an educational book or a book for entertainment?
I read this book for pure entertainment purposes.

What genres do you think this book belongs to?
Fantasy, Romance, Science Fiction

What was your favorite part of the book?
My favorite scene is when the male lead saves a baby animal.

Who would you suggest this book to?
I would only suggest this book to anyone who likes smutty sci-fi romances.

What is your general opinion/ rating of this book?
It wasn’t bad, compared to the several other “handsome blue aliens saving the day” tropes I’ve read. There are some elements that were fascinating, but I wished the author would have expanded on them. I wanted to know more about the women’s time as experiments. It seems like this is a follow-up series to another, even though it was labeled vol. 1. Overall, besides the women having special gifts this is your typical smutty science fiction romance. If this is your cup of tea, then you’ll enjoy this book. But if you’re looking for romance with some substance, I would skip this series. Overall, it wasn’t bad, but I felt like the story flew by too quickly, and I wanted more.
Are there any cliché scenes or concepts? (If yes, does the author add something unique to them?)
This story uses the trope of a sexy alien race losing all of their females to a virus. The blue-skinned warriors are compatible with human females… you can see where this is going. Add in the fated mate cliché that we all know and love, and you have the majority of this story.

How intense are the intimacy scenes?
They are spicy and vividly described.

At what “burn” level is the romance?
I think the burn level of this romance is on the hot side. He is a big blue alien with piercings in… special places.

There were quite a few grammar mistakes and I got confused at one point where the author accidentally switched the pov from one character to the other, then switched back in the next paragraph.

I wish I had read all the books prior to this. If I didn't like this book so much, I'd go back and read all the rest but I love the outcasts having a story and I was able to pick up a lot. So while it's not necessary to read the crossover books, it would probably help and provide more information and world building.

Stop reading if you don't want spoilers. This is just for my benefit.

Lukent is part of the Lone Howls clan (clavas) as a son of naught (a kid whose dad deserts his family and basically the kid is deemed a bastard and the whole family are outcasts).

Tasha is basically the leader of her group that have been living a nomadic life on the planet after they escaped the Uldani. They were tortured and had experiments done on them. Tasha's left with super smelling abilities from whatever those other aliens did to her. There are 5 other females introduced that I assume are going to be the next books. Lu (can see the future), Amber (only needs sleep every 5 days), Maisie (unsure), Trix (can't be touched from pain), and Neve (unsure).

Lu sees a vision of their camp being attacked. It's attacked by Wutarks (kind of like nasty warthogs). They are the enemy of the Drixonians (the aliens that rescue the females and are mates to them).

We are introduced to Daz (from previous book. He's the leader of all Drixonians and already mated. He has 12 human females at their clavas who are mated from previous books), The Drexel (leader) of the Lone Howl clavas is Kutzal, Vinz (an annoying and silly guy that is Lukent's friend), and Axton (another friend). I can't remember if there were more but I'm assuming there might be since there are 5 females.

Lukent ends up saving Tasha from being shoved off a cliff by the Wutarks as a sacrifice, even though it can cause a war between the 2 species and they are trying to formulate a peace treaty (Wutarks have no desire as you find out).

Lukent can understand Tasha from his translator implant, but hers isn't updated so she can't understand him. They basically go through all of the lands together to try and keep her safe and they obviously fall in love and end up with mating marks.

I was surprised at how quickly it happened between them, almost insta love type of feeling. It went from nearly 0 to 100 very quickly and I was kind of taken off guard. It was still a good read and I plan to read the rest. Love a good smut and finding alien bf.

I love Ella Maven's Drixonian warriors. They're big, blue, badass bikers with piercings everywhere. And they cherish their women. The stories are exciting and sexy. I just wish that they were longer. This one was 194 pages.

The Outcasts of Corin is a new spin-off series in the Drixonian universe. This story is about Lukent and Tasha. Lukent is part of a clavas of outcast warriors who protect the border between the Drix and the Wutark clan. (The new bad guys in town.) They are children of warriors who deserted the military and brought shame to their families. Lukent is a scarred male who has resigned himself to the fact that he will never have a mate because of who and what he is.
Tasha and five other women have been in this galaxy for many years even longer than Frankie and the others from the first two series.
Tasha and her friends were experimented on by the Uldani and eventually escaped from Torin on their own only to crash on Corin. They each have been cursed special abilities courtesy of the Uldani. They were living in a camp in the wilderness when the Wutark kidnapped all of them and destroyed their camp. Now the women are  separated from eachother.
Lukent saves Tasha from the Wutark who were going to use her as a sacrifice to their gods. Neither of them can communicate with each other so Tasha assumes Lukent's intentions are less than honorable. Eventually they learn to trust, depend and heal each other.
As an outcast in the Drixonian society the rules say Lukent is unfit to be a mate yet their attraction to eachother can't be denied.
We get to see our old Drixonian friends and their human mates.
I'm looking forward to more in this series which I'm sure is going to be as good as the other three series in this world.
I know that the author provides ARCs to her readers but they are not very good at spotting the typos and letting her know. I found more than I thought should be allowed in the story. But this has been the case with most of the books in this world.
