Stormy Morgan is a witch with too much attitude, an old love fueling new fires in her soul, and a talking cat who keeps threatening to give her an ulcer. She’s got a full plate. Things get even busier in her life when a body drops outside her boyfriend Hunter Ryan’s house… and the death looks like more than a standard murder.

Even though her magic is growing at an exponential rate, Stormy is still a novice when it comes to wielding her new power. She’s determined to find answers, prove herself invaluable to Hunter in the process, but each lead brings more questions… and all of them are of the mind-blowing variety.

The victim, a man who wove a tapestry of lies across multiple towns, doesn’t stir Stormy’s sympathy. The puzzle of his life is too much for her to ignore though. On top of that, her new roommate has turned into a big problem, and she has no idea how to fix it.

Stormy moved home to make her life better, and she’s succeeding at every turn. That doesn’t mean she’s safe.

At her core, she’s a fighter… and she’s going to need all her strength for what’s to come. The victim’s vices were of the human variety, but what killed him was something so much more dangerous. It’s up to Stormy to save the day. Again.

If she can, that is.

When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail.
Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.

I had almost sworn to myself to drop this series like a hot potato, but I caved in and listened to this new one anyway.

Turned out, that was a good thing!
The author addressed many of the issues I had with the last book and tried to fix them. This was very well needed.

Stormy is finally going to get some serious magic training - and she's finally starting to handle her relationship with Hunter like an adult.

Phew. Not a book too soon!

The gnome-shifter/cat (I don't know how to spell his name, damn it! *blames audiobook*) was not included as much and therefore not as annoying.
Even the "I will poop in your shoes" threat got talked about and handled in a more serious (but also funny) manner.
Such a relief!

I did feel like I had missed something that apparently had happened in another series about the Hemlock Cove witches, but the story worked anyway because the characters talked about it enough to fill in the gaps.

It was a quite nasty sort of murder. Really sad and horrible for being in a cosy mystery.
Even if it was handled with a light touch, I think it was really grim and Stormy's thoughts about the murderer having gone through "a lot" towards the end was perhaps sweet and caring of Stormy, but sort of unnecessary.
Hunter sure had the right idea there. The murderer needed a serious punishment - and help, hopefully.

By now I feel like, yeah, I will surely return for book 6.
The lovely narrator makes this series feel very cosy, relaxing - and like home. I enjoy her company a lot!

good read

This one I, kinda, had figured out early on. But the ending did have a twist I didn’t see. All in all, it kept me turning the page.

highly entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series

This is a highly entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. An extraordinarily fun cast of characters and storyline. Stormy is a witch and lives in a small town that she grew up in. After high school and college she became an author in her first book was a major success and she left town as well as her boyfriend behind to seek her fortune elsewhere. After about 10 years in her second book failed miserably she eventually ran out of money and had to move back home. She now works in her families restaurant and lives in apartment above the restaurant. Her grandfather is the owner of the restaurant. When she first got back to town she was visiting with a cousin in her apartment when they started playing with a Ouija board they belong to her great grandmother. Something happened and not too long after that stormy started having weird things happen to her. As you read on through the different books you find out that she’s gaining and learning how to use her powers. She’s a hellcat which it has a strong fire magic among others. She also has a talking cat familiar that is a little bit more than just that but you will have to read on to find out. She’s really connected with her high school boyfriend who happens to now be the police chief in town. She is also learning to use her magic with the help of the Winchester family from Hemlock Cove. Like many of the rest of Amanda Lee’s stories occasional crossover characters will interact in each other’s books. As all of these towns are pretty close by these characters tend to show up in a few of the books more often than not. Read on and find out what adventures stormy and her friends have gotten it to this time.

Wow1 How does Amanda Lee come up with these stories? She is great! This was a good one we watch Stormy increase her powers and her control over them. Bay Winchester is very helpful and Stormy will hopefully spend more time training with Bay. Off to read the next one!

sad about page 273 references to”karen” rate 99.9

I love this author, but just getting tired of “karen” referencing on anything. Authors have great vocabulary to reference. They don’t need to use something that I consider rude to a whole group of people. In my experience with all my 9 karen friends are warm ,loving, and helpful people. I have always gone by Kare for most of my life. Now I try to say out of people’s business. During all this went out and someone got in my face about my name. They saw my name. I went home and cried they yelled at me because of my name I was given. I now don’t go anywhere. I don’t talk, don’t look, don’t ask, don’t go out of my way to do extra stuff for others unless they ask and in writing don’t want to be criticized, I don’t even bother to ask for help or anything...just keep my head down. Just like when I was in an abusive marriage.
My parents taught me “to respect others and don’t do anything you would like done to you. For something to keep going needs to be kept up, but in the long run can hurt in ways you/others can’t imagine. So don’t be the wood to keep it going, be the water.”

Another hit from Lee! Stormy and Hunter together remind me of Lee’s other series with the couple Bay and Landon - they’re both snarky (many of Lee’s characters are!)

A cool thing Lee sometimes does - as she did in this book - is integrate other series of hers with another. For instance, in this read Stormy and Hunter meet with Bay, Landon, Aunt Tillie, Thistle, and some of the other Winchester (from the Hemlock Cove town) characters.

In fact, now that I’m done with this book I’ll be starting “Friday the Witchteenth (Wicked Witches of the Midwest Book 20)” which is a Winchester family book.

Now onto what this book was about…a man is stabbed and dumped in a ditch near Hunter’s home. Stormy was at Hunter’s home when the body was discovered. The more the two dig into the man’s past, the more dirt they find on him, including the fact he was a bigamist. They’re more than determined to discover who killed him, especially after Stormy is magically attacked by an unseen force. Luckily Stormy is able to enlist the help from her cat and the Winchester clan!

Next book is book 6, “We All Scream” - release date 10/11/22. Pre-order yours today like I did!

I just love the humour in these books.

We do not get as many book with the Winchesters in these days so it's nice when we get to visit with Stormy and Hunter as they are closely involved with Hemlock Coves first witch family living in the next town over. Story's grandfather is one of the funniest characters ever he can even give Aunt Tillie a run for her money. Add in a talking cat and what more could you want. Stormy and Hunter are still enjoying being a couple once more and spend all their spare time together while t Hunters house they her a scream and rush to investigate. One of Hunters neighbours has found a body. It's a male and he's been stabbed more than once. Discovering his identity leads to more questions as he's not a local, there's no car, so no clue as to what he was doing in Shadow Cove. For the moment all Hunter has are a lot of questions, the answers when they come are not going to provide the help he needs as this is a man who was deceiving everybody.

A few weddings and a funeral!!

Owen Sandusky's body is found in the ditch between his and his neighbours property. Apparently stabbed multiple times and left to bleed out, Hunter's investigation is off to a fairly slow start as his wife and daughter are adamant he should be in Ohio.

A little more digging and the wives start mounting up.. apparently Owen was constantly switching his wives around and for each one a totally different background and type.. Amelia is all about the position, Meghan is vegan and low carbon footprint, and so it goes on.. but who killed him.. and who is watching Stormy and issuing threats?

When it comes to the crunch only Stormy can end it but will she finally have control of her powers?

When one is not enough...

When a dead man is found in a ditch on Hunter's street, Stormy is there and becomes invested in helping with the case.
A case which becomes more and more complicated and confusing with each clue revealed.
If that's not enough to deal with, there is a witch who is attacking Stormy.
No worries though, with the Winchesters help, and Landon's official assistance, the bad guys don't stand a chance!
Of course, you have to figure out who the bad guy/guys are before you can solve the case.
That's if an unknown witch, Krankle, and Aunt Tilly don't take care of things in their own way first.
Get set for another great adventure with Hunter, Stormy, and the gang!
Don't miss this fun, entertaining series!

A cool humorous cozy mystery

I love Ms. Amanda M. Lee's book series. This series gets extra points for always having my favorite witches from Wicked Witches of the Midwest aid in the assistance of Stormy's witch education or paranormal confrontations. They always bring the laugh out loud moments and loads of sarcasm not that Stormy and her family do not as well. This mystery was a little difficult to solve until almost the last chapter. The murderer was not even on my list. So bravo Ms. Lee for a great cozy mystery. Her characters become family as you get to know them so well. A fun read!

A man is found stabbed on Hunters street. Turns out he is from a richly town not too far away. But why is he in Hemlock Cove getting stabbed late at night? His wife and daughter are notified an no help, his wife says he travels 3 out four weeks for work so isn’t home all that much. His work has no idea why someone would want to kill him but they do note that he never travels for work. He works exclusively from home. Then a young woman turns up at the diner asking Stormy where the police station is. She wants to report her husband missing. He didn’t come home the night before. And then a third wife pops up from yet another town. Very complicated murder mystery but a fun read.

Working with the Hemlock Cove crew

I enjoyed this cross over story and how the Hemlock Cove crew help out with the mystery. It was an interesting plot. I only gave it 4 stars because Ms. Lee always wraps up the mysteries so quickly that it makes no sense. The villains always seem to give up very quickly and easily when found. The series is always 90% lead up, 3% solving the mystery, and 7% wrap up. A little more effort in catching the villain, making it last more than 10 minutes in the story would be a nice change.

another author bites the dust…

I used to love Ms. Lee’s books but they’ve converged into a mishmashed amalgamation across the different series. No characters are really unique anymore, just lots of similar caricatures where the only difference is setting (Avery’s grandpa, Stormy’s grandpa, Aunt Tillie, etc). Also, stop crossing characters’ storylines to sell books. I think I’m done with these series. Nothing new to see.

Great plot

Love Stormy and how intertwined she and her cast are with the Winchesters. The storyline in this one was great and offered a lot of surprise. Also, the Krankle angle is quite intriguing still. I think it takes a lot of writing skill to get readers so invested in a story that it's possible to get irritated when a secret is kept by a character within it. It's a rare art! :)

I really enjoy this author's books. This is a combination of two of my favorite series and it was very well done. My favorite part of Ms Lee' s writing is the outrageous humor. If you enjoy paranormal / witchey books and need a good laugh I recommend starting with the first of this series and setting back with a really good read.

Surprisingly Captivating

I'm not usually into sci-fi/fantasy books. I only got this book to help earn a reward in a Kindle reading challenge. I was interested from the first chapter and entranced from the second chapter. I loved Tilly, Bay, Landon, Thistle, Stormy & Hunter and would be interested in reading more stories involving those characters.

This one seemed like filler

I'm not sure it counts as a crossover anymore when the Winchester s appear in Stormy's stories, but I'll take them anyway I can get them. The cat only gets more annoying with each book;I can only wish Tillie would take him, but I daresay Lee has plans with his character.

This characters in this series are exactly the same as her other series. The main couple is the same, it's a grandfather instead of great aunt, but they're very similar. And the constant repetitive love talk between the main characters drives me a little crazy. But I still look forward to reading them for some reason.

Awesome!

I loved reading this book. The Stormy spin-off has turned into a must-read series. And adding the Winchesters to the mix only makes it all the more enjoyable. The story and characters were interesting and engaging always. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what happens next. This book and series is absolutely worth reading.

Good read

Book 5 has murder, attempted murder, humor, quirky characters, lots of love, but no sex, and great friendships. Our heroine is still learning the "witchy" ropes and our hero is there to back her up. And the villain comes in the shape of a new and different creature. Highly recommend.

Witch mystery

Stormy and Hunter are at his house when they hear a scream. It's a neighbor who has just found a body. What they uncover during the investigation is almost unbelievable. The Winchesters help them narrow down the suspects and assist with the final confrontation, which involves magic.

Another great series from Amanda M. Lee. Failed writer returns home in debt and works in her family restaurant. Oh wait, she discovers she has magic, and a strange magic too. She struggles with relationships while freaking about the magic. On top of it all, must help investigate the latest murder. Shinnanigans ensue.
Can't wait for next book in the Two Broomsticks series.

Such a great series

I’m totally in love with the characters in this series. This is the first time reading Amanda M Lee, but l am definitely going to read her other works. I absolutely adore Aunt Tillie, and Sebastian. But each character has his or her own charm. This story was a hoot, l can’t wait to read the next one.

Why Phoebe?

I still don’t understand all the hate being thrown at Phoebe. April actually killed someone and they are ok with a couple years in juvie. I don’t even understand what Phoebe that makes her so irredeemable, but the message being sent with her character makes me uncomfortable.

Finished my first book of the year. This series is quirky and weird and sometimes the characters are just a little too much but overall I love the series. This one had a good mystery and things just kept getting crazier. This is a great cozy mystery series to try out if you need something easy to read with pretty likable characters.

Love this series!

Stormy is still learning about being a witch and living back in her hometown. The Winchester's make an appearance and are always a welcome addition. The plot and subplots move quickly, making it hard to put the book down. I can't wait for the next book!
