Jacob M. Ronsen is the author of the fast-paced and easy-to-read Me, Milli, series.
Being an author, he of course loves to write stories.
When he’s not writing, he likes to spend time with his family. Doing ordinary things like going for long walks in nature, juggling, boxing, putting too much chili in pretty much every family dinner, and swing dancing (even though he probably really shouldn’t).
Jacob lives in a house with black roof tiles with his wife, their two children, and two goldfish who are rapidly outgrowing their tank. And his love for coffee couldn’t even escape his profile picture.
The Horrible Chocolate by Jacob M. Ronson is an imaginative adventure story for middle graders. Bobby,an eleven year old boy has a passion for a particular brand of chocolate bars. On a road trip with his father, he was given twelve of his favorite bars to eat on the trip. But Bobby gobbled them down very quite and threw up a number of time in the car. Even so, the bars remained his favorite.
One day, Bobby was passing by Kenny's Candy Store and talked to the owner about a close out sale on his favorite candy bar. The owner found out that no one wanted the bars,so the next time that he saw Bobby, he gave the remaining bars to Bobby for free. Bobby knew that the bars would never be made again, so he cqrefully rationed out the bars for over a whole month.
Bobby was attacked by a school bully, a great big eleven year old and thrown against the wall. That hurt Bobby and his pride so he vowed revenge. The rest of the book is the telling of Bobby's revenge.
Middle graders will enjoy this funny story and the colorful illustrations.
Eleven-year-old Bobby loves chocolate and will eat it until he gets sick. He has a pesky sister and a rather ordinary family.
Bog is the school bully who torments everyone. Bobby dreams of revenge. His plans go awry when Bog banishes Bobby to the sewer. Here the readers meet all sorts of disgusting creatures.
The book is illustrated with color images that correspond with the humor and fantastic wordplays. That makes the book appealing to reluctant readers. Unpredictable twists and turns keep the plot moving along quickly. This book should appeal to boys and girls whether beginning or middle-grade readers.
Bobby is plotting his revenge. Why? I'm so glad you asked. Well, the story begins with an end. The company that makes Bobby's favorite chocolate bar. When the candy store owner gives Bobby the very last box of those chocolate bars, Bobby plans out his consumption of the bars. Everything goes fine until the day he plans to have the very last one.
Enter the Bog.
Bog is a bully, and he takes Bobby's chocolate bar. The last one ever in existence. Now Bobby's mad. He will have his revenge.
This is the story of that revenge. It doesn't go how you would expect. It is quite funny, though. Jacob M. Ronsen weaves a tale that is sure to have anyone reading it laughing at the antics and cheering on Bobby as he exacts his revenge. Even though this story takes place in a town that we've never heard of, with sports we've never heard of (though, after learning about checknastics, I do think it would be an interesting sport), with characters we only meet in the story, those same characters do a good job of resembling people that many of us have met before.
And the best part of this story about Bobby's revenge? It actually has two, count 'em TWO, stories of revenge! And that second revenge story is important because it explains, finally, why the statue in the town square is what it is. But I'm not going to tell you what it is. You need to read to find out. But don't worry. This wonderful book also has illustrations - in color. One of those illustrations is of that statue. There are several of the two acts of revenge in action.
This is a fantastic book that any young middle-grade reader is sure to enjoy. Heck, even readers who are not in the young middle-grade category can enjoy it. I sure did.
Great story, with very interesting characters that you meet, the details and images through the book helps you imaging what's going on and you create a little movie while you are reading it.. A brilliant and very interesting story, .. Really enjoyed it
The book 📚 is about a boy how loves this chocolate 🍫 but they stop making it and he gets the last chocolate but this bully stole his chocolate and he gets really mad 😡 and wants revenge
OMG. Jacob M. Ronsen, author of the fast-paced and easy to read Me, Milli, series, has created another dubious story line. Ronsen is one of those Authors who just like to write stories for children. This just might be because he doesn't mine showing his inner child. It also might be because he still passes through life as a child himself! My daughter and I absolutely loved this story book. A key line shared by the author really is a clear narrative of the book. "A belly-bubbling hilarious story with a secret, magical ingredient". I would place the story as early grade school, but I am not a teacher, just looking at the age of child in my family who enjoyed it. The novel approaches the theme of bullying, and the ramifications that might occur through revenge. I would recommend this novel, but suggest you read the novel and select the appropriate age for yourself. I received this novel through BookSprout. This is a true and honest review. The opinions are my own.
When eleven-year-old Bobby discovers a store owner won't sell his favorite chocolate bars, he becomes depressed. Since Bobby is the only one who buys the chocolate, the merchant gives him the remaining bars. Bobby eventually brings his last bar to school, but a school bully steals it from him.
Bobby spends the rest of the time plotting revenge and figures out that the best way to get back at the bully is to make a batch of horrible chocolate.
Jacob Ronson's story is a hilarious tale for young boys who enjoy slapstick humor and toilet humor. As an adult, I didn't find it very amusing, but then I'm not the target audience.
Review from my 9 year old Progressing into autumn, I happened to read a book. That amazing book was called 'The Horrible Chocolate'.
When I opened it, I wanted to figure out what happened in this very captivating story. It was about a boy named 'Bobby' who is trying to give his horrible chocolate to a bully named 'Bog', called Fire Farts with the help of 'Frank'. Now Frank has some sewage from 97 years, which he lends to Bobby, which he uses to put inside his attractive chocolate, Bog would take a chocolate plus, Frank would get his own shop.
I don't know who the author is but I know his first name is Jacob. So Jacob, can you make some more books just like this one? Overall I rate this enthralling book 5 stars
Bobby was bullied out of his last favorite bar of chocolate by a school bully. What does he do to get revenge? Some pretty crazy stuff! This book has a lot of slapstick humor in it, and toilet humor. There were errors too, including a written description of him stepping on his dance teacher's left foot, while the illustration that went with it showed him stepping on his teacher's right foot. And kids, the target audience of the book do notice such things. As an adult, I didn't feel it had the same smooth plausibility of other books in the same genre by traditional publishers. But kids might enjoy the rest of the crazy story and laugh at the slapstick toilet humor.
What a great and fun book! My son (7 yrs old) loved it and proper belly laughed at so many points in the book! Nothing better than your child really laughing with tears in their eyes! Thanks for a great book, weird and wonderful words to try and pronounce like ‘Klopzz, sploopp, flluuuurrrp and scchhuuuuuuu… no they aren’t typos! And those were the easier ones! He giggled at me saying those I can tell you A fun read both for me as the narrator and him to listen to! Thank you! :-)
I really liked this book. It was so funny that I almost fell off of my chair! I would recommend this book to people who want a good laugh. My favourite part about the book is the emotional bit at the end where frank/aka the old man got his first restaurant named after him and his little ratatouille, fnupper
I would not recommend this book for various reasons but one is someone pooping themselves is not funny, you're supposed to help them get to a restroom and be kind. Terrible book
My child was very interested in the book because of the cliffhangers at the end of the chapters and she Fnuppers and Frank were funny! Thanks Jacob. She says keep up the great work.
