When a notorious birder is found dead in Nova Scotia, the list of suspects is already available on-line, if you know where to look.Sergeant Howey Cross has to juggle an expanding caseload against a baffling murder and he has to learn birder-speak, otherwise how else will he understand what on earth is going on?In the world of the birder, there are two sins that may be deadly, stringing and suppression, but who would kill for either them, someone might.
I'm not a huge fan of the mystery types where at the end the detective lays out all the evidence collected and you as the reader are left going what? how? and it seems so like there was no way one could've ever reached that conclusion. but I did enjoy the birding aspect and were fun bits of evidence and clues along the way for me to stay engaged. I did really enjoy the twist woth the frigatebird as the main clue. That was clever and fun. Though not a genre i typically love, I did enjoy this one. The birding aspect was a big win for me.
