I’m a grumpy loner cowboy and I like it that way. Until my beautiful mail order bride arrives and suddenly, I want more than a marriage in name only.
Ethan
I’m not exactly Mr. Hearts and Flowers. I mean, I was at one point in my life. Back before I discovered my wife was cheating on me in front of the whole town. Oh, and the baby she was carrying wasn’t even mine.
So, to say that my late grandfather insisting that marriage is a requirement for claiming my rightful inheritance doesn’t exactly have me jumping for joy. But it’s too late because my mail order bride is already on her way.
I have every intention of making this marriage in name only. Should be simple and easy enough…until I lay eyes on Valentine. She’s the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen and I’m instantly in love. But are the scars from my past too much for a ray of sunshine like her?
Valentine
Yep, I was born on Valentine’s Day and yeah, it is a dorky name. But that doesn’t mean that I can’t believe in family and love and forever. Sure, I was a foster kid who never knew those things. But I want to. That’s why I signed up to be a mail order bride.
Looking at Ethan, I know that we can make this work if he’ll just give me a chance. He seems determined to close himself off, but maybe for the first time, I can convince someone I’m worth keeping.
Will this lonely cowboy finally let me inside? Or are we doomed to keep this as a marriage in name only?
The Scott Brothers are fierce cowboys in need of mail order brides so they can claim their rightful inheritance. But that’s not the only thing these rough and dirty cowboys plan to claim! Each book in the Courage County Brides series is standalone with NO cheating and NO cliffhangers. Just a sweet, sexy HEA so you can get your swoon on.

Mia Brody and her Cowboys. You just can’t go wrong. Another great read with probably the two most interesting and unique characters I’ve read in a long time. Bravo!
°Virgin heroine (18) °Celibate hero °Switching POVs °No OW/OM drama °Divorced hero - he wasn't married for long and he's not hung up on his wife (I liked that he said that the heroine was his only love) °Sweet likeable heroine °No separation °Push/pull - he pushed the heroine away because °No cheating or scenes with OP °The heroine has synesthesia and dyslexia °No epilogue °Bonus scene: 6 months later
Ethan determines even before he meets Valentine that as soon as they have fulfilled the terms of his grandfather's will, he's going to divorce Valentine. But then he meets her, and all bets are off. Their meet-cute is fun. :)
This is book 3 in the series and so far all the MMCs are damaged foster kids. I can actually relate to this and like the trope. Book 1 I loved and even though the H was disabled and had been through a lot he didn’t feel so dark and damaged. The Hs in book 2 and 3 have major trauma that feels like way too much to overcome in a short book. I don’t love it when you’re 75% through a book and the couple isn’t all in yet. When they’re still fighting love and giving you reasons they can’t be together until nearly the end and then all of a sudden major turnaround, they’re fixed, HEA done. It’s super unsatisfying. And not all foster kids are tortured by their past. I hope we get a few brothers that want to get married and don’t think they’re broken and unworthy of being loved.
Seems like the next book is different and the FMC is scarred and the MMC is going to claim her which I’m totally looking forward to. I love an all-in MMC. ***went and read the reviews for the next one and the damaged freaking FMC says something unforgivable to the MMC and never apologizes. Yep, not reading that. I’m done with this series. I just want a sweet short read minus any freaking trauma. Geez.
Ethan has a dark secret, and he feels dirty and unlovable. But to inherit the ranch where he lives and works with his seven foster brothers, he must find a woman to marry, and quickly. Valentine sees the world differently (she has synesthesia and never learned to read) and as a result was bullied all through her childhood. Will they overcome their fears and shortcomings to find love, or will this be a marriage on paper only?
This is a neat series premised on eight foster brothers having to marry in order to inherit their land, a ranch on which all of them found safety and security as troubled, desperate children. Their late grandfather, who outlived the foster parents, contracted with a mail-order bride service to ensure his wishes were carried out. There is so much to this series I tore through it one book after another. Very much recommended for those who love steamy cowboy romance books.
There is a level of depth with these characters. You know there is pain but when it finally uncovered, it amazing these people are still functioning. Ethan is a foster child that found out who his father was, and believes the worse because of his ex wife. I really believe that Valentine has synesthesia( taste her words), but being a foster child, she moves so much and doesn't get proper care. I love how this love story developed.
This was really good. Valentine and Ethan had similar backgrounds both were foster kids, but Ethan had a deep dark secret which he wanted to keep from Valentine. Ethan planned to be married to her for a little while and then give her a divorce but he ended up falling in love with Valentine. This was a great read and the bonus was really good.
I like this book so much!! Yet it brought a few tears to my eyes before Ethan and Valentine had their happy ending. Mia Brody you are a new author to me I'm going to enjoy the remaining books in the Courage County Brides series. That is a category often overlooked - modern mail order brides-
The grumpier they are the more I love them. This must be the case because I adored Ethan. He is so hurt by the reason for the failure of his first marriage, he believes he isn’t lovable. It takes the love a wonderful woman with her own emotional scars, for him to realize he deserves to be loved.
This was bittersweet in parts and I had tears in my eyes for these two. Both had been in foster care and didn't know what family love felt like. Until they met each other and their hearts just knew they were meant for each other. Their shared we secrets brought them closer together and their bond was forned!
This novella deviated from the first two a bit in that the cowboy had the major secret to tell. It was quite the secret, too! Certainly not one I expected. Again, it was an enjoyable story but it was very surface-level because of the length of the story. The only issue I had was that I wanted more.
Sweet story with great characters. Each one wants and needs love. They find it with each other through a mail order marriage broker. Lucky for them she's a perfect matchmaker. They find their family and happy ever after with each other
Liked the fragileness of both of the lead characters. A beautiful HEA about love winning the inner darkness and all kind of prejudice - weather it is selfimployed or coming from the society.
Ethan and Valentine's story is sad and lovely in a lot of ways. Both feel they are damaged and unwanted. Can a marriage break the cycle? Will they both tell secrets holding them back and open their hearts to love?
Mia is really good with stories that lightly address childhood traumas. Ethan has a secret that he feels makes him a monster. Valentine is a strong woman whose brain has some crossed wires. Together they become stronger than ever.
Valentine is such a sweetheart. I loved how she was ready to start her new life, but she felt a bit wary about Ethan at first. The man was hot and cold, but at the same time, he really cared for Valentine. I liked them together!
"I’m a grumpy loner cowboy and I like it that way. Until my beautiful mail order bride arrives and suddenly, I want more than a marriage in name only." An awesome read. Well written.
(Bieko y beatriz)
