Over the Falls #1 Harley was a freshman in high school, she boyfriend was a senior, she was in love, he dumped her. Aidan's girlfriend told him she was bored with their relationship and broke up with him. Harley has sworn off boys, and then Aiden walks onto the beach where she surfs. She offers to teach him to surf, Aiden accepts her offer, but soon realizes that Harley has become more to him than just his surf instructor. With a lot of determination on his part, and once Harley learns to let go of the past, they will get a chance to have a relationship. Teenage drama, and a mysterious attack on a classmate, I think this is a fantastic must read. Fascinating, unique, and beautifully well written characters. I loved this book!
The Impact Zone #2 Savannah Green broke up with her boyfriend, but finds herself taking surfing lessons, and becoming friends with her ex's new girlfriend. Griffin Ayala is a nomad and after he meets Savannah, he would like nothing more than to stay in Ryder Bay and have her as his girlfriend, but he is afraid that if he stays his past will catch up with him. Savannah and Griffin are young, but their devotion to each other will help to solve the mystery of why her best friend is in a coma. Beautifully well written, and complex young characters. Suspense and a mystery is solved, fantastic book.
Face of the Wave #3 Skylar has finally awakened after weeks in a coma. Everyone keeps asking what happened to her, unfortunately, Skylar doesn't remember exactly what happened. Jed's grandmother worked at the hospital and helped him get a job on the cleaning staff. He has been cleaning Skylar's room and talking to her, he has even been playing his favorite music for her, he also has a major crush on Skylar. Jed wants to help Skylar remember what happened on the pier and is determined to be her friend. Skylar quickly realizes that Jed is a great guy, the opposite of other guys she has dated, and that as improbable as it might seem to everyone else, she wants Jed to be her boyfriend. With Jed, and the people she has come to realize are her true friends, Skylar will find the courage to the remember the events that led up to the night she almost died. Wow! These are amazingly complex, unique characters, and beautifully well written. Even though they are young they will find a way to get justice for a friend who was wronged. I will admit to thinking I knew "who done it" a couple of times, but an unexpected twist stunned me, I cried. I think this is a must-read book, a fantastic conclusion to an absolutely wonderful series, and I loved it.
Wipeout #4 Lettie is fourteen years old, shy, somewhat socially awkward, and sometimes a little bit of a clutz. Jace just sees a beautiful girl, and someone he wants to spend more time with, but there is another girl. He also doesn't know if he deserves to be with anyone, or to be happy for that matter, with his past weighing heavily on his conscience. I loved these sweet, and sometimes conflicted characters. Lettie is still devastated by the loss of her mother, and Jace has his mom's threat of military school hanging over his head. Beautifully written YA romance with a little suspense, and some fascinating, unpredictable, twists in the plot. I would recommend this book and the Ryder Bay series to anyone who enjoys YA reads. Fantastic book, I loved it!
I voluntarily reviewed complimentary copies of these books.
I read this set when it first came out around 4 years ago, lucky you getting to binge the entire set. I highly recommend it
Over The Falls: Two people from the opposite sides of the Bay in more ways than one. He's a rich boy and she lives on the poorer side of town. The surf is her escape from life and the thing that brings them together. These two characters had a connection that started as friendship and we watch their journey as they grow closer. Be warned you'll be left hanging as you wait for the next story to see what happens next. Great story so far, I really enjoyed it...even though I hate cliff hangers lol.
The Impact Zone: This time Harley and Aidan are side characters, this is Savannah and Griffin's story. Picking up where the last book left us we find life changed for Savvy, her bestie is still in a coma and she has a chance to find herself. By the time the story got to about half way it really took off and I couldn't put it down. It's a well written, slightly angst filled teen romance with plenty of dramatic moments and a mystery to solve. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Face of the Wave: This series gets better with each book. This one had all the emotions, it was powerful. The discussions were real, I got teary and anxious for her. Skylar had a major wake up call after she came out of a coma. She grew up fast, changed her ways, lost bits of her memories and found she didn't like herself very much. The 'prom queen' became a new young woman. Parts of this story were dark, more so than the other two books...but necessary to the story. I enjoyed the interaction with all the characters and love Jed and his Grandma. I must say I did not see that end coming and the author wrapped it up well leaving us guessing a little as to what the outcome could be. I look forward to any more in the series for an insight into these characters lives later.
Riptide: A short tale, full of teen angst. The main character feels unwanted by his family, so he acts out. I'm more looking forward to the next book to see how his life changes. Wonder who his email buddy is, will she end up being a romantic interest? Or perhaps she's older. I think I know but I could be wrong. Entertaining tale by one of my fave authors.
Wipeout: The awkward bookworm and the bad boy, he's not really bad just feeling rejected and mixing with the wrong crowd. These two have been emailing anonymously for some time, fate puts them in the same town. I didn't think these two would become my new fave couple in this series. Well done to the author for grabbing me and not letting me go. I read this book off and on all day...work gets in the way. The last chapters...wow didn't see that coming, what an exciting finish. I love this series and highly recommend it.
White Water: The epilogue for the series. A novella with all the characters returning. I loved it.
Ryder Bay may be small but it's full of drama, danger, and romance. North Side, home of the rich and famous, South Side, home to the working class, poor, and the darker elements are worlds apart, but where they meet, love can be found. This box set contains 6 stories about Ryder Bay's youth; the rich and poor, good girls and bad boys, athletes and bookworms. There's something for everyone and you can't help but fall in love over and over with the teens from Ryder Bay. I know, I did.
Over The Falls: Harley agrees to teach Aiden how to surf so he can win his girlfriend back but neither expect the waves of emotion. It's a story of expectations and falling for someone from a different world. Can they overcome what is expected of both?
The Impact Zone: Savannah wants the hot new lifeguard, but Griffin is keeping secrets. Dangerous ones that could put her in danger. Can he love her and keep her safe?
Face of the Wave: Skylar has woken up from her coma with no idea if she jumped or if she was pushed. Can Jed help her remember that night and will the truth bring them together?
Riptide: Jace is addicted to adrenaline rushes. Lettie lives mostly in her books. The connect online. Can she keep him from going too far?
Wipeout: An unhappy Jace has been shipped off to Ryder Bay. The only person he's happy with is his online friend. Until he meets Lettie and finds himself torn between an online relationship and the girl right in front of him.
White Water: Spring Break and the Ryder Bay crew are ready for fun. It turns out to be more complicated than expected as they start to think about their futures.
