Louise Geralt had a simple take on life. Eat good, drink deeply, cause just a little bit of trouble, and rut for as long and many times as you want until you bit the big one.
This changed when her hardened heart began to crack and let the light in. Your best friend getting her happily ever after would do that to you. But the thing about letting that light and love in was that it could soften your heart entirely.
Which was exactly what was happening thanks to a certain second in command to the king of East Luxton. Needless to say, she dumped his ass and ran like hell. That is until Rennick Stone asked them to work undercover together.
A new enemy has arisen and is bent on destroying all Lou holds dear. And to make matters worse, a ghost she had no idea still haunted this plane has come back to stake his claim on her.
Sebastian Corinado knew the moment that Louise Geralt pointed not one, but two guns at him that she was his. Forever. Too bad Lou realized this too after a few weeks of primal bliss, and ran.
It was no matter. She could run, she could hide, she could even fight—but ready or not, Sebastian Corinado would have her.
18+ TRIGGER WARNING: This is a dark romance. There are fictitious descriptions of sex, sexual assault, alcoholism, and graphic violence
I didn't think anything could top Vas and Ren's story from book 1 'They Do Not Falter' and I can't decide yet if this did (I think I'm still processing) but if it didn't it come bloody close.
C.C. Rock is an amazing storyteller and while in book 1 I could see the story of Lou and Bash coming I truly could not guess where she was going to take it and let me just say it went way beyond anything I could have thought up. She is a genius in luring you in and having you craving and aching for more. I'm already asking how long until book 3.
I was completely absorbed in this story, I laughed, I chewed my nails away with anxiety, I felt raw and emotional for the physical and emotional damage and hot and bothered by the pure passion Lou and Bash radiated with.
If book 3 continues on the same trajectory we had from book 1 to book 2 I may just combust while reading it.
Louise Gearalt is tough and fierce and loyal as fuck but only to Vas that was until she fell in love with Ren, now he has wormed his way in, and when the two welcome the arrival of their daughter asking Lou to be godmother she has someone else she has undying loyalty and love for. Pity about the ass they asked to be godfather.
Seabatian Corinado is Ren's second in command but the two are more like brothers. He has stood by Ren through it all and now stands with Vas too. He couldn't be prouder to be their baby's godfather as well as an uncle. Now if he can just get the stubborn woman who has had him all twisted in knots since she stormed Stone tower on her own to rescue Vas with two uzi's to admit she has feelings for him his world will be perfect.
Unfortunately, life isn't that easy. The Russian's are becoming a threat again and while they aren't outright attacking, Ren wants to be prepared so Lou and Bash go undercover to try and get more information to save a war. Turns out the Russian's won't be the only problem a past Lou knew nothing about has showed up and wants to take her away. They clearly don't know Louise Gearalt though because there is no way she'll do what anyone tries to force her to do.
While playing their parts Bash pushes Lou slowly, breaking down her walls and fighting his way in. Just when it seems he might have made it through Lou throws her walls back up and plans to run to save the Stone's from more trouble.
Not getting the chance Lou may lose it all and what's worse is she finally figures out that Bash may be right all along maybe they are meant for each other.
Will the Russian's take them down, or will it be the new threat coming their way? Will any of them be ok when the bullets stop flying and the dust finally settles?
I’m not even more than a couple of paragraphs into the book and I’m already shitting myself laughing. Lou’s character is unregretfully herself, her smart wit and sass make her instantly likeable. Following her development over the course of the novel was enthralling. It was kinda like watching a nasty car crash. You know it’s going to be a horrid and Gruesome one but you can’t look away.
Man, this series is like nothing I have ever read before. The gruesome detail of torture and violence have you squirming in your seat and questioning your sanity as you can’t put it down. They Endure is such a mind-blowing mix of Drama, spice, violence and mental mindfuk that I can’t even compare it to anything I’ve read before. The web of events and drama Rock weaves into this story makes it impossible to predict what will happen next. Which in my opinion is difficult to do as so many stories nowadays a predictable and redundant.
Where the hell do you go from here! My mind cannot handle another full novel like this it will probably explode. Yet I welcome the sweet agony C.C Rock puts into each story.
100% just as amazing as Vas & Ren's story! Lou is possibly an even more badass woman than her best friend is! I absolutely loved reading her story and finding out how strong she really is, even more than I initially thought. C.C. Rock absolutely hit it out of the park with this one! And, as with book one, just as much equally packed action & steam & backstory as you could ever want.
If you like dark romance, mafia romance, badass strong women main characters learning how to open themselves up for love, action, adventure, and even a good cry, among many other things, you should definitely pick this book up! Can't wait for book 3!!! Excited for the next couple's story!
Holy cow this book was 🔥🔥🔥 I don’t know if I’m in love with Louise Geralt or I want to be her. She is one bad*** woman. I cannot wait to read more from CC Rock!
C.C. Rock does it again! Literally she is an amazing writer. Her work is emotional, gritty and sensual. This book is way darker than the first, with several chapters towards the end with constant torture to one of our main mcs.
In this book we follow Bash and Lou, both made their first appearance in They Do Not Falter. It was wonderful to see Vasily and Rennick back and they played wonderful roles.
Bash and Lou still have the same scorching chemistry as they did in the first one. This time it was packed with more commitment phobia, past trauma and two main characters that just can’t stay away from one another.
This book really had so much action, character development, twists and turns it was. It was a wild ride!!!
There were only two little things I didn’t like. One was how Lou’s form of showing Bash she couldn’t be tied down is to sleep with people. They aren’t in a relationship at all when she does it but its apparent he wants to be and she is fighting her feelings. Not my favorite. The second thing was how many chapters at the end were all about the torture of one of the mcs. It wasn’t too much for me, they were well done chapters but I felt it all could have been expressed with fewer chapters.
At the end of the day those things weren’t enough for me not to love the crap out of this book!
The third book in this series of standalones comes out 12.1.22 called They Conquer
All three of these books are worth the read. You will be hooked with book one 💯
This is book 2 in the Stone Heart Series, They Endure. Although is a standalone novel following different characters within the same world, I recommend reading in order due to a continuing story throughout the series.
So I finished this book several days ago.....I truly had to process what I had just read. Now I need to be clear......I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! There was a lot to take in and digest and I wanted to give the author a review she would love. This book follows Louise "Lou" Gerault and she is one bada$$ woman. Lou has had a very rough upbringing but that never keeps her from holding her head up and surviving. And that is a better term for Lou. A survivor. Her love interest is Bash. They met in book 1 and had a fast and furious love affair. When Lou started catching feelings for Bash.....She ended it. Bash on the other hand, will not take no for an answer. He wants to get at the heart of Lou and to find out why Lou walked away. Can Bash deal with Lou's feeling and help her through her issues? Lou doesn't let anyone get close but Bash has started peeling away at layers. Can they survive each other and the world that they live in?
HOLY HELL......This book was crazy. In book one I felt emotions and shed a tear, but this book..... It broke my heart, ripped it out of my chest and buried it in the earth. Oh my... the emotions I felt. The twists and turns in this book had my head reeling and once I got into the story, I could not put it down. I cannot say too much without giving anything away, but what I will tell you is that C. C. Rock has you covered and you will get an HEA. Getting there....Well thats another story. Lou's background and how she dealt with her trauma broke my heart. I am so glad she had Bash to handle her with care Lou is stubborn and I did want to slap her a few times but read assured, she finally gets her act together. C. C. Rock has now become one of my favorite authors for dark romance. Go check out her books. They are amazing, the writing is incredible and the characters will have you falling for the bad guys. This book gets 5 stars.
***This is a very dark book with strong adult themes and violence. Please read the content warnings before diving in and take them seriously. The author does spell out the content within her warnings and if any bother you, please do not read.
I started this book predisposed to like it because of how much I enjoyed Vas and Ren's story, but I was completely blown away with Lou and Bash. The plot twists in this were so good. I loved that Vas and Ren were still involved as were the other characters I had gotten attached to--namely Gerry. The steam was there, but there is so much more to the story than that. I cannot wait for the next installment.
