New friends, new foes, and the greatest opportunities yet to level up: a new continent filled with exciting adventures awaits Joseph.
North Maledith isn’t a place for those with weak will and soft hearts. Danger lurks at every corner and a storm of unrest is slowly brewing on the continent. Adventurer groups are disappearing. Bandits are at an all-time high.
Can Joseph, Aaron and Isabelle steel their hearts, and their resolve? Do they have what it takes to survive in this new and foreign land?
I'm just gonna come out and say it, everyone dies at the end and Joseph(Main Protagonist) is a coward. I'm not a fan of how the author wrote this. There so many ways it could've been written and he chose one of the worst. I wouldn't recommend this book at all.
Ending is terrible and basically makes 90% of the book story pointless really and ends with a cliffhanger that makes no sense. Worst ending I have ever seen in a book and makes me not want to read the next at all. Book lost most of its draw much before this since the mc only focuses on his newest trinkets he gets and ignores all of his powerful other abilities and how they can be used - such as meteor storm. He refuses to use his by far most powerful spell and the one thing that makes him special because he got a weaker new trinket to plat around with. Sure there are a few times it isn't effective- but all the times it would have been he completely ignores it and only uses it once in the entire book. Really sad. Also they give some bs reason to make him start over rather than being able to at least salvage what his party had at the end of the book. Getting robbed, again... because yea people have nothing better to do than to go into a dangerous area and find people to rob in a place where it is supposed to be impossible to find someone in... but nah they find 3 other parties in. Also Tyrants guild is the most stereotypical 'bad guys' as you can get. Poorly thought out on many parts of the book in general all the way down to farmers for some reason leaving their cattle out at night and hiring people to protect them instead of just putting them away (which is verified as an option and no benefit is given as to why they leave them out at night in danger) to protect them from the monsters that ONLY COME AT NIGHT.
The book starts off pretty good, with our heroes growing in power together finding new friends. Until the ending 5% it was going great, then it feels like the author decided he hated us and his characters.
I'm afraid he fell into to much George RR Martin, and don't know if the series can continue from this.
Let me start by saying I find Player Vs. Player (PvP) games a waste of time in video games. In this book our main character and his party get moved to a higher leveled area so that the leveling opportunities are easier to come by. First thing they do, go to this mine that is a dungeon. Get trapped in this cave they were mining in because some NPC does not like people who are not giving him a cut mining. They survive this, spend time getting stronger. This leads to a story arc of trying to figure out what happened 1000 years ago when the system came into place on this world. Eventually they manage to escape, managing to find piles of gems and stuff. Wanting to never see a cave/mine again, they now end up in a swamp. Of course that does not go as planned, and his party ends up leaving him for dead. When he wakes up, he makes his way back to where he expects to find his party. Getting robbed on the way back by other adventurers.... Going back to this leveling area, which they pay for the privilege of exploring, they run into another group who thinks they are the only ones who should be able to explore this massive area... blah blah Thankfully they dont run into them again until they are on there way out. 20% of the book later (the end of the book) they are leaving after a major boss battle. 2 of that group are being chased out by some giant bird, and as they overtake the group one of them turns around and starts shooting at our main characters. Not shooting in the "I dont have to outrun the enemy, just you fashion" but to kill. Somehow the main character ends up surviving, and waking up just after his party has been looted (as he is waking up but unable to move). So while it does continue the story arc trying to figure out what happened to bring this world and earth into this system, it seems the author wants the main character to be on his own as he has not killed the last people he knew from earth.

I had just got over being sick when I picked up this book. I barely remembered book 1, but that didn't matter too much.
This is a straightforward sword and board RGP portal novel. The little I remembered of book 1 was that it had it's flaws, but it was honest in trying to portray an apocalypse.
Now the apocalypse is old history, and Joseph and team are working to move up in the ranks. They gain roughly ten levels here, ending at level 30 as they go around taking jobs and trying different things to make money and gain experience.
After crossing the Elysian Fields, they try their hand at mining. Then they go to the swamps. You get the idea. It's fun, easy reading in a very basic fantasy world.
I had two problems with this story. First, everything unusual happens to Joseph, the MC. Yes, I get that he's the MC, but everything unique, I mean everything, happens to him. Kimmi, Steven, Isabelle and all the rest might as well be background characters. Sure, they help in a fight, but that's it.
The second problem is the ending. For those old enough to remember, it reminded me of the ending of a very hyped season of Dallas, the TV show. I don't know what is planned for book 3, but it left me with a sour taste in my mouth and felt completely unnecessary.
That's why I'm lowering this to 4 stars. I enjoyed reading it and it was a nice re-entry back into the LitRPG world, but I can only overlook so much.
Not bad but reads like a slice of life for a D&D session. It seems nothing is stable in the MC's life except the fact that he is life is unstable. I'm still don't see a big picture story line other than stay alive and get stronger which of course that is the point of RPG. That said there is fun progression even if it is narrow. We don't see much of the system other than the stats for the MC and some of the stats for the enemies. The MC is certainly the central point in the story the secondary character's Have some depth but not much and Seems everyone including the MC is expendable at times. Not a bad read. Certainly fun to get the loot drops but not the best in the genre I read either..
This all in all was not a bad book, main character is still a doofus. The problem I have in the book besides the MC is the way this book ended, wrong so terribly wrong. Don’t like cliffhangers shouldn’t leave your audience in one. The book should be able to stand on its own without you wanting your Reader to read the next one by leaving him or her or them hanging. If you like a book that ends on a sad down note with a cliffhanger you might enjoy this book.
To the author. Now that you've killed off all but one character, are you finally going to make him the leader, or is he still going to be a passive member of his own story? Also, how many times is your passive mc going to run away and let his friends die? I know there is another book, but I just don't know if I want to bother. I will admit I forced myself to read the first book, and this second book wasn't bad but to finish it with all these deaths and your mc running away... well, I've kinda lost faith in your books getting better
MC is very pitiful with the author truly determined to make him a loner. No OP ness or power of friendship to save the day and more often than not it's sheer luck that saves the day. More of mysteries surrounding this world are peeled away, leveling is slow and terrifying but exciting from readers perspective. Grim dark theme has definately intensified. Let's see what
Emotionally I wanna say 2 stars cuz how DARE YOU make me have feelings but it was so well written and it’s rare to find a series that isn’t afraid to make the reader worry. You literally don’t know if I’m the next page a loved character is gunna be sniped and the fight for survival starts anew. Can’t wait for book three
Generally a good litRPG and story. Good world building and some solid NPCs. Few dumb choices made by the main character and he often forgets to use abilities that could have been a difference maker. Last bit was rough, we'll see if Jeremy has a story arc that re-engages in book 3. That's going to be the make or break book in the series.
There will be spoilers. Not a lot, but they will be there. You've been warned.
I really liked this book, until the last 10 pages. If you liked this first one, you'll probably like this one. *Spoiler* That being said, dont get attached to any of the characters.
Such an eventful, intriguing, and surprising book! Can't wait to read book three! I really liked this book ,although there were parts that saddened me, but then I'm a sucker for always wanting things to go the way I want. Lol. Recommend this series!
Good continuation of the story , the plot is pretty good , my one issue is that I don't relate to any of the characters , they are cardboard and when they face adversity I don't care if some of them die , they come across as adrenaline junkies not adventures and as such take dumb risks and Joseph the MC lacks any common sense.
I enjoyed this book and looking forward to the next book in the series. Now I have to figure out how to add some more words to my review so that I hit the 20 word minimum to leave a review.
The realism and danger expressed in this book does an amazing job reminding you that even powers, magic and teammates, the most dangerous thing in a new world is your fellow human
Wow. Just wow. I don’t even know how to respond to that one. Super curious for the next book now.
As the title says this is a review for Kindle Unlimited and as such is a reflection of my enjoyment of the book and in no way reflects cost to value analysis.
These two books I would like to say were entertaining, however, I have to say that I absolutely hated the ending. After all the hard work the party went through and then they died at the end is terrible.
OMG. The last couple of pages. I'm more upset than when I first read the Red Wedding in Game of Thrones. I'll definitely read the next book, however. I want revenge as bad as Joseph does.
First book (while on Earth) was relatively good. This one is mix of better parts, but many parts are boring a MC is without meaningful goal, moving with flow around him.
Wow, things got serious in this book. Is Joseph going to start thinking that he is cursed? Is he going to be willing to join another party? What happened to Marcus? If it’s what I think it is, will that benefit Joseph any?
Jeremy has worked at his craft , and he has improved... His story arc is more compelling and he has made me care for his characters. I hope you keep writing.
