Words that come to mind when I think about Olivia and Nikolai: Russian mafia, arranged marriages, crazy villains, strong friendships, family ties, loyalty, love, romance, danger and heat. I could probably go on but I think you get the idea here 😊

The story of these two takes place almost simultaneously with the events of book two so if you haven’t read MARKED, there will be some minor spoilers in this one, FYI.

Scarred was everything I was expecting with a few surprises that I wasn’t! Olivia and Nikolai were great together, and I appreciated that there was no miscommunication or ulterior motives between them. It kept the unnecessary drama to a minimum and gave us more page time with the two MCs as they get to know each other and fall in love.

Nikolai is dead set on destroying Malcolm Schmidt for the murder of his sister and helping Olivia plays into those plans perfectly. He’ll get inside information and keep a woman out of Malcolm’s cruel clutches. Olivia is engaged to Malcolm, against her will, having been sold out by her own father to pay off his gambling debts.

She endures a lot of horrific things, all the while knowing that she was the only thing standing in the way of her father or Malcolm going after her fragile mother. When Nikolai offers her sanctuary and protection, she doesn’t hesitate. The last thing she wants is to be under another man’s control but there’s something about Nikolai that makes her feel safe and protected. Olivia isn’t one to back down from a challenge even if it is under guise of instant attraction to a man like Nikolai.

One look at her and Nikolai knows he’ll do anything to keep her safe and far away from the monster that is her fiancé. Olivia quickly becomes a fascination for Nikolai and when they end up spending a lot of time together, that fascination turns to admiration, respect and love.

This book is a lot darker that book one and Olivia and Nikolai both have suffered some pretty horrible things in their lives but that same darkness creates a bond between them and really cements their connection. I loved both MCs and this story was the perfect way to tell their story 💖

“You were meant to be worshipped Olivia.”

This story follows Olivia, who was sold off by her own father to a vile and abusive man named Malcolm, who always gets what he wants. However, an opportunity to escape arises when she is offered a chance to help pay off her brother’s debt by working for a handsome Russian mafia billionaire, Nikolai. The job is to be a live in nanny to his little niece and she would be protected and safe. What could go wrong?

This audiobook was fantastic! I actually loved it even more than book one. Olivia is such a strong and stubborn character who will do anything for her family. And Nikolai? He’s absolutely irresistible. From the moment Olivia was in trouble, Nikolai made her feel safe and secure. He’s protective, and the opportunity he gave her was one she couldn’t refuse.

What I particularly appreciated about this book is that, unlike many mafia romances where the male lead is cruel or manipulative to get his way, Nikolai is patient, kind, and completely obsessed with Olivia. The storyline and characters were so enjoyable—I couldn’t get enough!

💋💋

This is book 2 in this series and it really helps if you read them in order as the story is a continuation of sorts.

This is Nikolai’s story, he’s paired with Olivia.
It’s dark and dangerous, disturbing and tense in parts as well as being pretty graphic.
I would think it could set off triggers for those who have suffered abuse both physically and emotionally, so be warned.

That said it’s brilliantly written and it’s very addictive reading.
As I said it’s dark, The Sinners being 3 brothers who have belonged to an arm of the Russian Mafia, now gone legal and running their own businesses .

Great books and exciting and entertaining reading .

This is the second book in a series about 3 "brothers" who grew up in a Russian orphanage and turned to the mafia after stealing for food, clothes, and a safe home. Their heroines are 3 "sisters" who grew up together and although they are from wealthy families, they bonded over their own dysfunctional families. The three books run parallel together so there is overlap of their stories and you learn what's going on with each of them during that time.

I wasn't sure what type of person Nikolai was as he wasn't as strongly developed in Dimitry's book like Sergei (book 3). He is definitely his own man and has businesses separate of the others. Like the others he's worked for years to go legit. Although it's convenient they're paired up, Nikolai's sister was killed by the same man who is torturing Olivia. She's being forced to marry Malcolm by her (almost) equally evil father. This book may have triggers for some - BDSM used as torture and a long history of mental and physical abuse from her father. The book starts off with a flashback and has several others of Malcolm's abuse of Olivia. It's extremely emotional and hard to read, but it immediately draws you into her world of suffering. You also see how she's endured him and her father and sacrificed herself for her mother.

Thankfully there's not a lot of push/pull between Nikolai and Olivia, but it's a bit of a slow build of their romance. I think it's about 50% into the book until they become physical. I loved Nikolai's niece and that she's a romantic at 6 years old. It added a lot of levity to some difficult scenes.

I was disappointed by her twin brother and how he didn't protect her and their mother. He felt bad and did what he felt he needed to get out, but I wanted more groveling or repentance or something to Olivia. I did like how he and Nikolai instantly bonded over their shared enemy. Maybe there will be a book for him and we'll get background on his decisions and internal feelings?

My main problem is the same I had with the first book - contractions in the dialogue. Although there are some contractions in the same paragraph, the ones that aren't really stand out. It makes their conversation feel stilted and too formal making it distracting.

I would highly recommend this series and starting at the beginning. I fortunately had a copy I got from Amazon for free and am glad I read it first.

Once again Eva you have written a book that sucked me in and blew my mind.

Nikolai and Olivia, we were introduced to these characters in book 1 Marked. I can’t even tell you how excited I have been for this release.

Revenge, kidnapping, twists and turns and two slightly broken and scarred MC’s that help heal each other. The chemistry between these two is off the charts! book was fast paced, I read it all in one sitting. I couldn’t get enough and I am so very excited for book 3!

🩵Scarred, Eva Winners
350 pagini (Russian Sinners, #2)

🩵Posibile spoilere!

Duet Narration: Shane East & Lucy Rivers

I loved this! I was able to snag an ACL and honestly, all of Eva Winners books are such easy reads/listens. This was no different. I’m so happy we got Olivia and Nikolai’s story! I knew I was going to love that man. What him and Olivia both endured in their lives…they were a perfect match. Each with their own scars.

Also, we love a “ who did this to you moment “ and Niko delivers! If you haven’t read or listened to this series, start with book 1, Marked. These are interconnected and it’s easier to understand if you know what happened to lead to where they all are. I can’t wait for book 3 because I have a feeling that FMC is going to be sassy as hell lol.

This story follows Olivia and Nikolai, after Niko saves / kidnapped her from her abusive father and her abusive/obsessed fiancé that her own father sold her too. Right away, her and Niko have a connection much deeper than surface level and truly see the beauty of one another under the scars. I loved them.

Dark Russian mafia romance
Dual POV, 1st person

This is the second book in the Russian Mafia Romance series by Eva Winners.
I would highly recommend following the series in order to fully understand what is happening.

No spoilers are in this review.

Nikolai and Olivia are both introduced as secondary characters in Marked, the first book in the series. Olivia’s appearance is brief in the first book but Nikolai is more prominent and he immediately intrigued me. I think it’s the scar.

I was so excited he was going to have his own story.

Olivia’s back story is explained in detail pretty quickly into Scarred and it helped to connect with her since I already felt a connection with Nikolai from Marked.

Immediately as the reader I felt frustrated in the situation she is in but also felt utter devastation she was in it in the first place.

Nikolai, who wears his wounds on the outside is in contrast to Olivia’s who’s wounds are deep in her soul. But together, they are magic.

The chemistry is on fire. It is two damaged people finding light and love with each other with the right amount of drama, turmoil, angst and humor(courtesy of a rambunctious 6 year old).

I received an ARC in return for a honest review.

Well Eva Winners you did it again. You brought me an amazing mafia story to read. So we have Olivia and Nikolai's story. So we find out some information about Olivia. Her daddy is not a nice man and did something stupid. That was to arrange a marriage for Olivia. Well the guy that she is suppose to marry is a total psychotic d-bag. Like seriously needs to be put down. So when Nikolai's brothers fiance ask him to help Olivia out because she fears for her friend. Nikolai does his research and finds out some interesting news. Nik is going to help Olivia out to escape the monster she is suppose to marry. Nik is not going to let it happen, he feels that she is meant for him. So will she be able to escape the monster? What other information will they find out? Olivia cannot deny the attraction to Nik. He will be patient and wait for her to come around. This book is full of intense and steamy moments. I cannot wait for the next book in this series.

I was very excited to listen to this audiobook. I absolutely love Lucy Rivers and Shane East’s voices. Shane does so well making each of the men he is speaking for sound different.

Olivia’s prologue broke my heart and had my jaw on the floor the entire time. Eva did a great job making us hate Malcom from the beginning. Lucy did amazing voicing these traumatic moments to help make your heart ache more.

The smut was smutting. The plot was great. You can enjoy this book as a standalone but I recommend starting with book 1 to fully immerse yourself into the story. I cannot wait to listen to book 3!

The audio for this book was really good! Lucy Rivers brings so much strength and vulnerability to Olivia. Shane East is an amazing narrator who gave us this great range with Nikolai - he is ruthless and also thoughtful and all in with Olivia!

Olivia was so much stronger than she gave herself credit for. She was so talented and loving. I loved how patient how Nikolai was and how he gave her the support and space to start to heal. She also helped him work through some of his past trauma.

They had such amazing chemistry!

His niece Tasha was an absolute delight! She was funny and sassy and had no filter!

When you've fought simply to survive for someone else, the wounds and scars run deep. This was something Nikolai and Olivia shared. Physical scars and emotional scars ran deep.

Olivia wore her scars like armor. They urged her to live on. Her family's betrayal and the pain she suffered at the hands of the man she had been promised to kept her alive. She would make it out alive.

Nikolai wore his physical scars with distinction. No one dared to cross him. His family was his priority along with revenge to the man that took part of his family from him.

As Fate would have it, Nikolai and Olivia shared a common enemy. Together they would remove this threat.

Scarred is the second book in the Russian Sinners series and this is Olivia and Nikolai story. Olivia is one of Anastasia best friend she was first introduced in book one Marked when the three friends took a trip to Russia to unwind before they start their respective lives. The girls were living it at the Russian Orchid before their trip came to an abrupt end when Anastasia was abducted. Olivia Fray is twenty four year old virgin with beautiful red hair. She had to go back home to a life in which she was dreading. Olivia Fray was engaged to be married in an arranged marriage to powerful older billionaire man Malcolm Schmidt. Malcolm was about fifty years old and about five foot eleven and built like a boxer. He gets off on cruelty and pain.
Olivia despise Malcolm whether it's his scent or his closeness she detest it all. Olivia dad is supreme court judge. But he's a gambling addict, drinks a lot, and has a different prostitute with him every week. The judge is corrupted abusive, vicious and monstrous but not to the level of Malcolm, he shouldn't be a father nor a husband. He sold his daughter in order to settled a debt and for him to continue living the lifestyle that he has gotten accustomed to living. Malcolm Schmidt is twisted, cruel, despicable, sadistic, vile and evil. There was a party at Malcolm house that Olivia that force her to attend where she ended up throwing up on Malcolm shoes and it was all caught on camera which was upsetting to Malcolm Olivia dad was mad at her punch her in the face. He was scared that Malcolm would see that he damaged his property so he sent her home but she went to the casino where her brother have been gambling and raking up debts. You see Nikolai setup a trap for her twin brother to lose to his casino to lure Olivia there to help her. He wanted to see how far Oliver was willing to go in order to help his sister to get away from Malcolm. Olivia endured some horrendous acts of violence against from Malcolm because he deemed her as his property from having cigar put to the inside of her inner thigh until you smell skin sizzling, whipped with a flogger until the skin opens and bleeding, using a knife cutting her inner, whip her until she pass out. Malcolm vows to break once they're married he's going to rape her on the wedding night but for now rape her in other cruel ways.
Nikolai was a handsome blue eyed Russian bad boy with coal black hair and lightly tanned skin. He was oozing with dangerous vibes and rippled with power. There was an immediate attraction between the two. Nikolai is a surrogate brother/best friend and business partner of Dimitry they met each other in the orphanage and grew up together in the mafia. Dimitry and Nikolai rescued Anastasia in book one. Anastasia asked Nikolai to help her friend get out of her abusive relationship Nikolai was eager to help because he had been waiting for the perfect opportunity to take down Malcolm Schmidt for years for the brutal murder of his sister Nadia. He wanted Malcolm to for suffering of those who are less weaker than him and he intended to make it long and painful when he enact his revenge. Additionally, Nikolai was also attracted to Olivia from the first time he saw her on the tape at the Russian Orchid. Nikolai came with the idea to make it look as if Olivia was kidnapped as well as Scarlett when she came to the casino to get her brother. But she didn't want to leave because she didn't want her dad to give her mom to Malcolm in her space because he would use that over her head all the time to get her to do his bidding.
Nikolai and Oliver decided to work together to make it look like the same people who took Anastasia and Scarlett came back for her too too and he took her to Russia so that he can come back to work on his plans to bring down Malcolm. Nikolai protected her mom by removing her from the house and putting her somewhere that the judge or Malcolm could not get to her before he took Olivia out of the country to help take care of his niece. Malcolm tried to hunt down Olivia once he found out that she was missing this presented some unexpected challenges and dangers for her and Nikolai. Nikolai rescued Olivia right in time because she was at her breaking point barely holding on to thread. He understands the importance of her situation because his sister lived it and he could not save her so he vowed he will not let her go through anymore harm. At times she feels like running everything in her telling her to run because she doesn't know this man but if Anastasia say trust him she's going to give him a chance. Scarred was emotionally, violent, dark, twisted, passionate, possessive alpha male, surprises, physically abuse, torture, action twists and turns, hatred, suspense, drama, kidnapping, greed, love healing, and happiness. I am looking forward Disgraced.

Rating - 4.5 out of 5

**WARNING - Mentions sexual abuse/rape in graphic detail; may not be appropriate for those who are sensitive to sexual violence**

I think it's hard to give these types of books a rating or a review; it's a type of genre that either the reader may like or not like at all. Overall, I liked this book; the writing is a little bit more on the graphic/explicit side, so I just want to give a fair warning that this may not be appropriate for those who are sensitive to sexual assault/rape/sexual abuse.

For those who haven't read the summary, Olivia, one of the main characters, is put in an arranged marriage by her father to a dark and abusive man named Malcome. Due to her father's excessive gambling debts, she is used as a collateral. After a terrible night with her father and Malcome, she hears that her brother has also gone into gambling, and has issues with paying back the debt. Nikolai, the owner of the casino, uses Olivia as a collateral as well, but to take care of his niece. He also uses Olivia's brother for his intelligence and connections to secretly bring Malcome down. In the meantime, a romance develops between Olivia and Nikolai.

To be honest, I don't have anything negative to say about this book, but as mentioned before, some of the books explain in explicit and disturbing detail about the abuse that Olivia had to endure when she was with Malcome. There are some parts where Nikolai and Olivia profess their love for each other repeatedly (which can get tedious, depending on how you look at it) - Nikolai mentions how Olivia is his woman and how he must always protect her, and Olivia, although she has seen his dark side, feels safe and loves the man no matter what he does.

The chemistry between Nikolai and Olivia is very "fiery", lots of love-making scenes and passion. I also thought they made a great team against Malcome's men; I found myself rooting for this couple until the very end. I noticed his book comes in a series, although I didn't read the whole series, I didn't find myself being confused with the timeline or the characters; I think it was well-written enough so that I didn't miss out on anything in the other books. Overall, I enjoyed this book; I think this book is suitable for those who enjoy sexual erotica with a little bit of thriller/suspense. Give it a go if you're interested!

This is the second book in the series but it can be read as a standalone. Olivia is trapped in a relationship that she didn’t choose and Nikolai promised her best friend that he would do whatever he could to get her out of that horrible situation. Sparks begin to fly between them but can Olivia be sure that Nikolai isn’t life her father or her fiancé? Fast-paced emotional read with plenty of drama, suspense and steam. I really liked it.

Let me start with the good stuff: there were some good quotes and him being possessive. Also if you were a wattpad girl like me, then this book will take you right back to those days.

Now to the bad parts. This book basically had substance. There was a lot planning, like him wanting to take down the empire of her ex fiance or them then later trying to find said ex fiance her process of rediscovering painting for herself. There was a lot of things happening but we never really read how got there. We were just told that it had happend or it had been planned. And also there was no insight what so ever into the actual mafia they were in. Their organisation.

Then again what I really didn't like in the first book that they were a little stupid and that some things just don't make any sense. You are in mafia and have I don't know how many security guards at your disposal but the three best friends can't meet once or talk over the phone? That's just stupid nonsense.

Also their conversations generally felt very short and meaningless. They never really talked about their demons or things that bothered them. I felt like that was very obvious, when his niece talked/asked about her mother and they just changed the topic. But really it was the same about him and her. They didn't really talk about their lives before or at least her and what they liked. And the book took place in spam of maybe 8 weeks of which he was gone for like 2 weeks. You couldn't really see their day to day live together, because we were never shown. Like all in all I just couldn't really imagine how a day in their lives looked like. For Nikolai in my opinion it had also to do with the fact that we knew so little about his job. And some things that seemed important like her going out with Katja, into a crows full of strangers that she didn't know possibly touching her after she was severely mentally and physically abused just seems super unrealistic.

Which brings me to my next point. Her abuse by her ex fiancé. That was something she never really dealt with. And that's something I thing she should have talked about with someone. And the fact that she was instantly intimate with a guy that had left her for 2 weeks alone at a estate with the promise that she will be safe. It was like 40% when they met again I would have found it better if they first had gotten to know eachother more and also if it was first of all talked more about how she felt while she had to endure the abuse. That she had her friends at her side to help her through it. That she would have had sometime to process it and then maybe she would have asked him about pleasuring her because she was scared that she might never feel it after the abuse she endured and that he would gently show her. And she'd asked him because he made her entire body light up with just one touch.

Form the plot itself it felt like a copy and paste of the first book. But like it was done in school some changes here and there so it doesn't look like it was exactly copied.

There some plots that where sort of forgotten or told but not finished, like how her mother was during that entire time. Would Oliver see her again and what happend with her father? How exactly did they take down Malcolm? Just so many things still remain with a questionmark that are not answered by the end of the book.

And last but not least his niece. She was a nice addition but to me it feels like she was forgotten at sometimes. I would have loved a real heart to heart between the three of them where Nikolai would have told her that she will be with them forever. Maybe her asking if they can be her parents. Them promising they love her. Maybe her asking about a baby. All of that that you usually expect or read in Heartless by Elsie Silver. But no. The single dad/guardian trope here was gradually failed.

If you want my honest opinion, don't read it. I am sure you will find better books on wattpad to read. Will I still finish the series? Probably but only because I want to know how it ends and the foundation of this series is not bad the characters have some good ground work, they are possessive men and there are some good "you're mine" or "you're safe with me" quotes. But if you aren't invested or haven't enjoyed the first book this one is not worth your time either.

To Whom This May Concern:

I would first like to say that this is the second book of the Russian Sinners series. There are characters such as Anastasia and Dimitry, with their own love stories, that show up in this book with the backstory already set. In my opinion, this series should be read in the order that they were written.

The couple in this book is Olivia Fray and Nikolai Smirnov. Both of the characters were introduced in the first book of the series titled Marked. Their relationship started off on shaky grounds due to the situation that Olivia was in. Their love is basically defined as an abused person trying to find love and trust again. Their connection and conversation was endearing, but more cliché romance type of conversations than the first book. There was not a lot of wit to the dialogue. The book was written from a dual point of view between Olivia and Nikolai.

In this book, Olivia is an abused person who Nikolai rescues upon the request of Anastasia. The antagonist chases her throughout the book, while the couple's love is developing. There is also an adolescent that is brought up into this book a lot, Natasha. I personally don't like an addition of a child in the plot line, but the author wrote Natasha in where she was not overbearing on the story.

The "romance" scenes was not as steamy as Nikolai was referencing to when he states, "my tastes are singular". I will never judge on the amount of romance scenes in a book, but more the quality of the scenes themselves. There was approximately 4 scenes that was explicit. There was more dialogue and getting over the act of making love, due to the abuse from Olivia, than the actual roman scenes. I would like to point out scenes that are more graphic in the book that does depict sex. Those scenes were sexual abuse scenes, which might not be everybody's scene. Although I do not condemn such acts, the author wrote it very well.

The ending of the book tied the book together and the character's conflicts were address. The author wrote the series in a way that leads into the next book.

With that being said, i give the second book in this series a 4 out of. I rank this series in the following order from best to least: Book 1 and then Book 2.

With thanks.

Disclaimer: I did get this book for free through Booksprout. However, I did not get paid for a skewed review. This is an honest review with no intentions to sway readers to persuade sales.

✨Oh, My Goodness, really this book is just wholesome, I'm glad that mafia romances are freaking incredible to read, you can't be wrong with that you can not guys. And This author Eva Winners is just putting magic in her stories I could, this series is just a whole package of the mafia romance could you can read every freaking thing in this series, every reader wants that right, especially those who are all love to read romance, including me.

✨This is the second book of the Russian sinners, it's all about Nikolai and Olivia. You can slightly read about them in the first part of the book, from there only you come to know how when why they met. Olivia her father arranges a marriage for her with Malcolm Schmidt(he is a fucking living shit) sorry for my language guys. Olivia's father does anything for money that's why she is getting married to him. Here, Malcolm is the biggest enemy of Nikolai because Malcolm murders his sister, he has the goal to destroy him, Helping Olivia not get married to him, and with that, he plans to destroy Malcolm also, I need to say the setting is so amazing,

✨In this book you can read about arrange marriage, a father hitting and blackmailing his daughter, violence, abuse, love, steamy romance with greatness it's just every single thing we can read in a mafia romance.
I need to say this, Nikolai he is everything, he need be to in book boyfriend,

"Olivia," Nikolai's voice was soft. "I will never hurt you. If you decide you don't want me, I'll respect that. But I still won't allow anyone else to hurt you.

✨This line oh my God, I'm flattered. For me it's just perfect, I understand that Olivia where comes from because Malcolm did some extra things to her and her father hitting and all, she can never trust or is not ready to be in a relationship or any physical activities. But still, she is attracted and wants him to buy she is scared of getting hurt again that's where Nikolai understands her fully. Their relationship is just awesome and I love the relationship between Nikolai's niece Tasha and Olivia she is just so brilliant at her age.
Do check out this book💜

4/5 I liked this book very much, I loved Nikolai and Olivia I would definitely reread it easily again, I loved it too much that Nikolai rescued Olivia in his own way. 😍

Nikolai is all that is good, I love her Scar and how oli is obsessed with her, I love how Nikolai protects her and makes her feel safe even though her appearance is sinister, I love how they match a pair of fire, I would call her, divine
‼️‼️‼️
We can talk about the father and the bad eater, SONS OF A BITCH, 😡💩I hate all the damage they did to my Oli, especially the Maleate how he dared to rape her, it was very painful for me to read that, I cried, they made her insecure, it hurts me that she put up with them so much, this is where I question the mom could call and insist on Oliver to help them, I know that she was afraid but for God's sake it was his daughter, 🤔🤔they had what they deserved, I wanted it to be a slower death and cut her penis I hate them.😡😡

To finish I loved all the spicy 1000/10 🔥love that she felt super comfortable with him at all times, I love that they got married a random day, I love him❤️‍🩹💞💕

Scarred is a Russian mafia romance. It is the second book of this series and it tells the story of Olivia and Nicolai. I've read the first book that was about Anastasia and Dimitri so I knew that Olivia and Nicolai would have their own book.

This book has some triggers. Some serious ones. Olivia has a mean and violent "fiance" that hurts her in the most horrible ways. Her father doesn't give a fuck about it, and on the contrary actually he beats her himself. I don't know how Olivia has so many assholes in her life honestly.

Nicolai learns about her situation from Anastasia and decides to help her and save her from her tormentors. Honestly? It was a relief for me to read that someone actually cared for Olivia enough to help her in such a way. I had enough of these jerks hurting her.

As Nicolai and Olivia get to know each other, their feelings grow. They feel passion, attraction and an overall connection that neither of them can deny.
They know that what they have is strong and they try to protect it. And I say that they try to protect it because Olivia's situation is quite messy.

The steam was really good but I would have loved it to be a little more sexy..maybe I like my books very dirty, what can I say 😈.

You see..the pages turn faster for me if the book is hot af 😏😏.

I want to mention that the book has steam. I mean..did you read the quote? 👆
Sooo..yes, Nicolai and Olivia do it. And it is VERY sexy.
But.
This totally has to do with me. It is a matter of preference.
After reading so many intense, erotic and dirty books I got to the point where I am now. What is this point? I like my sexy scenes very intense and dirty. 🙈

Anyway! I loved the first book of the series, it was really nice to read the second one and I can't wait to read the third one! Something tells me that it will be hella hot 🤞😏😏

First off, I love mafia romance! I was excited to learn more about Nikolai and Olivia after reading Dimitry and Anastasia's story. This is part of an interconnected series, 1st person, dual POV, and spicy.

Nikolai is a cold hearted, cold blooded killer who has had a rough upbringing. He is willing to do downright anything within his power to keep those he loves safe, no matter the cost. Well, a redheaded woman named Olivia has caught his attention and he finds her in need of his help. Olivia is such a strong woman. She comes from a pretty effed up family. Her father is an abusive addict, and her mother is numb to the world, broken, due to the treatment from her husband. Olivia has had to step up the plate and fulfill a role that literally puts her life in danger, in order to help protect her mother and keep her family as happy as she can. She sees an opportunity for freedom from her shackles and takes it.

Nikolai is the knight in armor, but it isn't super shiny. Olivia has a hard time letting down her guard, understandably so knowing her past trauma, but Nikolai is patient, and sweet, and persistent in a sexy way. The chemistry between Nikolai and Olivia is amazing. Nik is usually calm and controlled, but something about Olivia sets him on fire. Olivia is reserved sexually due to her past, but knows the Nik will respect her. And as their feelings evolve for one another, it only gets better.

I was a little weary about the insta-love vibes this gave off, but I knew that Nikolai knew a little more about Olivia due to the circumstances with his brother and his brother's woman being best friends with Olivia. The plot that carried over from the 1st book in the series, just kept getting more interesting as well! If you enjoy Russian mafia stories, where the characters come together to help battle their demons, with a plot and spice, check this series out!

I am excited to get into Sergei and Scarlett's story, I just know there is going to be fireworks!

Scarred is a gripping and emotional follow-up to Marked, raising the stakes with a story that’s equal parts tender, suspenseful, and deeply romantic. This time, it’s Nikolai’s turn in the spotlight, and the silent, stoic Russian proves to be as lethal as he is devoted.

Olivia has endured more than most—sold off by her father, trapped in an abusive engagement, and constantly living in fear. But she’s no damsel in distress. Her strength is quiet, stubborn, and fierce. When she’s offered a lifeline by Nikolai to escape and find refuge as a live-in nanny for his niece, it’s a way out she can’t afford to pass up.

From their first encounter, there’s a pull between them—rooted not just in attraction, but in mutual understanding of trauma and survival. Olivia’s visible and invisible scars speak to Nikolai in a way that no one else ever has. And unlike many dark romance heroes, Nikolai doesn’t try to break her down—he lifts her up. Protective, respectful, and relentlessly patient, he’s everything Olivia never dared hope for in a man.

What really makes this book stand out is the emotional depth. The romantic tension builds slowly, organically, and with care. Nikolai may be a powerful mafia figure, but he never uses that power against Olivia—instead, he wields it like a shield, doing whatever it takes to keep her safe. And when danger comes knocking, he makes it very clear: anyone who touches what’s his will suffer the consequences.

Scarred is a beautifully balanced story of healing, redemption, and love in the face of fear. It surpasses the first book by delivering not just the heat and danger expected in a mafia romance, but a level of emotional vulnerability that hits hard in all the best ways. Nikolai and Olivia make the kind of couple you root for, quietly fierce and utterly unforgettable.
