Izet Sarajlić graduated University of Sarajevo with a Ph.D. degree from Faculty of Philosophy. He was a member of Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was a tenured professor at University of Sarajevo.
As a member of The Association of Writers of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1962 he created "Sarajevo Poetry Days" alongside Husein Tahmiščić, Ahmet Hromadžić, Velimir Milošević and Vladimir Čerkez.
