Everything’s coming up Roses in Starry Hollow. Ember is thriving both personally and professionally, along with the other descendants of the One True Witch, and life has never smelled sweeter—until the bloom is off the rose, of course.

When a resident known as the Midnight Surfer is found dead on Balefire Beach, the community is shaken. The aging surfer was a fixture in Starry Hollow, albeit an ornery one, and the whole town is eager for Sheriff Nash to solve the case. With more suspects than grains of sand, the sheriff needs all the help he can get, and Ember is more than happy to offer her services.

Meanwhile, Marley falls under the influence of an older friend and begins to test boundaries at home and school, much to Ember’s dismay. The broomstick mama isn’t used to challenging behavior and it seems the only way to hold on is to let go.

Will the gathering dark clouds have a silver lining or will Ember succumb to the dead of night?

Magic & Midnight is book 16 in the Starry Hollow Witches series.

Magic & Midnight is Book 16 in the Starry Hollow Series by Annabel Chase.

I just LOVE this series. This is such a wonderful paranormal cozy mystery series, but SO MUCH more!

I have loved to watch Ember grow both personally, professionally, and growing into her witchy self.

I really am LOVING the relationship between Ember and Granger (the sheriff).

Someone is murdered on Baelfire Beach and everyone is nervous. Ember and Granger team up to try and solve the murder, but it won't be easy. Ember has her hands full as her daughter Marley is falling in with the wrong crowd at school and this is not easy for Ember or for Marley to navigate.
I really enjoyed this story line, it is so relatable.

I absolutely LOVE Raoul, Ember's Raccoon familiar he is so hilarious and adds so much to the book and the entire series.

I cannot wait for the next book in this fantastic series!!!!

exceptionally entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series

This is an exceptionally entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. A fun caster characters and a uniquely entertaining storyline. Amber Rose is a witch who is descended from the one true witch. Her family is high and mighty in the little paranormal town we’re family comes from. Amber whose mother passed away when she was very young was taken into the human world by her father raised away from magic. She married younger had a daughter and her father died then her husband died and she was working as a repo woman to support her self and her daughter. After some issues that happened to book one her cousins from paranormal world came to get her and bring her back home to the paranormal world. She has been successful and is becoming a very powerful witch in her own right and enjoying a productive and happy life with her daughter her boyfriend and her of mayor Raul a raccoon. Redone and see the adventure going on in this book. They are all extraordinarily entertaining and fun reads. Check them out.

Pacing is an issue in the world. There are so many books in, and I feel we are barely making progress. After 16 books, I would feel like we should be further along in her magical studies and relationship.

At this point, I would take a plot less focused on murder each book and more on personal growth. It will be 16 more books before she even gets married or has another kid. I think she should quit the job and take a full year to just focus on her studies. In the long run, that will help her more than solving crimes.

The way the authors write these books as if Ember wasn't around nothing would get solved. Are we really supposed to question Sheriff Nash's competency?

I wouldn't be surprised if Ember and Marley don't have a trust fund from her father. He left Starry Hallow, but his portion of the family estate would still be passed on to his daughter upon his death. It must have been more than the cottage. I wouldn't be surprised if Aunt Hyacinthe kept that under wraps to have more control over Ember and make her feel more grateful for the job and home.

As usual with this series, there was an entertaining book. Great plots and and intriguing characters. Loved it!

Annabel Chase has done it again!

I am loving how Ember is evolving into the mature adult she's supposed to be! Her interactions with her daughter, extended family, and teachers are much improved, and the sensitive gestures towards Raoul and the obnoxious squirrel are wonderful. She still has her edge, though, and will go all in for Marley, which is as it should be. Ember's big heart and strong sense of justice are on display while solving the well-imagined but rather heartbreaking murder mystery. I'm hoping Aunt Hyacinth doesn't disappoint, especially in light of what I suspect Ember plans; a comment from Marigold has me wondering if I forgot an incident, or...?! This series always has me eager for more!

When you are reading the 16th book in a series you get the idea that you just might really like what the author writes.

Ember is trying to elarn more about Ivy's magic and how to control the magic that is inside her now. At the same time a guy that surfs during the night ends up murdered and Marley, her daughter, has made a friend that Ember is really quite unsure of.

This leads to a major problem both mother and daughter have to deal with.

There's also a missing wand. Not good.

As expected things turn out okay but the best part of the book is how she handles a beach problem and how she deepens her bond with Raoul, the raccoon.

Very good story.

Very good. I love this series. This time Ember encounters a situation many mothers are familiar with her daughter Marley, gets involved with a girl who is less than desirable. Ember believes Jinks is using Marley and is intent on leading her astray. When Marley is busted for theft from a store and Ember gets the call from the Sheriff's Office on a school night things become tense between Ember and Marley. There was also a murder as this is a who-done-it cozy mystery type book. I recommend this book.

This one delivers on a lot of storylines that have been building throughout the series! It's great to see serious development with Granger and Ember, Ember's relationship with her aunt, and I'm glad to know I wasn't the only one who was a little concerned about what was going on with Ivy's magic... should have known one of Ember's witch mentors would spot what was up! In addition to that, Ember has a murder mystery to solve, and a seemingly ridiculously cute new character makes an appearance. This continues to be such a fun series to read.

One of my favorite series!

A great series with characters you wish were part of your life, in a town you want to live in, that is full of supernaturals. Ember is doing more consultant work for the Sheriff's department than her own P.I. business solving this murder. And there is the added stress of growing pains as Marley makes some less than favorable friendship choices that lead to conciquences. Have already pre-ordered the next book!

Terrific Starry Hollow story

Annabel Chase beautifully combines a paranormal murder mystery, supply chain issues, parenting problems, tricky family relationships, romance, and root canal into a delightful and thoroughly relatable tale in which Ember Rose finally starts coming into her own.

Smoking Ember

Ember really comes into her magic legacy from Ivy Rose. With the hunky sheriff indisposed with dental problems, Ember takes on the role of chief investigator of the murder of the Midnight Surfer, vandalism and burglaries. She has Mom problems to solve as well. Marley and her BFF are in conflict. Ember rules.

Magic is in the Air

The saga of Ember Rose and her life in Starry Hollow continues, with another winner from Annabel Chase. How are a murder on the beach, erosion of the shore, and sculpture thefts connected? Help Bloodwort, I mean Yarrow, I mean Ember sort through the clues. It may not be Joisy, but the mob’s in town. Oh yeah: have Kleenex ready for the final chapter.

Oh! I love this series! I enjoy every single book and read Midnight and Magic in one day! Starry Hollow is on my list of places to visit (if it existed). Now to wait till next year for the final book. I hope that Ms. Chase will start a new series with Ember, Granger, and PP3, like Spellbound Everafter. Thank You again for the great read!

Trouble

If there is trouble to be found Ember will find it. Or it will find her. This time a hermit, night surfer is a victim murder. Of course it wouldn't be an Ember story without many other fires like a daughter going rouge, an imposing family, and a new relationship. Totally shipping the Granger relationship.

Love the pace

The stories always leave me happy. It's a nice change to have all the characters with realistic manners and the animals talking. I enjoy Raoul and his trash talk. The under dog. No offense.

Mobsters and Magic, Oh My!

This was a very good story that was filled with witches and magic, murder and intrigue, family and familiars. It was also about giving children the trust they need to come to their own decisions about bad friendships.

Great Read

What I like about this series is the aspect of family. This story brings that out along with the humor, who done it, and what life can be like with a teenager. Did I mention the magic? It's there too. Great read.

I always plan to read the next book before the next comes out but I always fail! Someone always wants more power and in this book someone very sweet and innocent gets hurt emotionally but another bond gets mended! Can't wait for the next book to come out!!!

Ember was so oblivious to every damn thing in this book that it annoyed me like crazy. She was dumb as hell and although she’s normally bumbling this was beyond. The only thing that was cute was the bonding ritual with Raoul because imagining a little raccoon so happy makes me happy.

Good read

Book 16 finds Marley being influenced by her new friend, Jinx, a murder, and possible climate change. There is humor, angst, mystery, love, magic, and emotional growth. Highly entertaining.
